Great Value, Good Quality Scuba Mask

A single lens mask for Scuba Diving or Snorkelling.

      ----Use----
The main thing to look for in a mask is the fit of the seal to your face. Different brands vary a bit in shape and size of the seal so it really is best to try them out for yourself. If you don;t get a good seal between the mask and your face water will leak in and you'll spend forever trying to clear out the water. This mask seems to fit me quite well. I had to have the straps quite tight to push mould the silicone skirt to my face, but didn't get any considerable leakage of water into the mask. Beacaus I had it tight it does leave a nice red 'goggle mark' around my eyes when I take it off.

To clear a mask you have to tilt your head back, pull the mask away from your face and exhale out of your nose to fill the mask with air (In engineering terms you are building up a positive pressure in the mask which pushes the water out). To do this a mask should ideally have a 'stretchy' strap' which means it fits well when in place but can be tugged out a bit for clearing. I found the strap on the Cressi sky a little inflexible compared to other masks I have tried out.

The mask has a single lens which instead of a lens for each eye. I prefer this type as you don't get the slight cross eyed effect when you try to look sideways. The visibility is good and gives a wide range of view when underwater.

The mask is lightweight, weighing around 200g so quite easy to pack into a suitcase for holidays (although worth buying a case to avoid scratching the lens)

      ---Manufacture----
I have the black silicone seal version of this. The seal is available in black or white. As with most diving equipment I tend to avoid the clear or white silicone options as they discolour quickly turning a dirty yellow which doesn't look very nice.

The main frame of the mask is described as made form Hi-tech polymer. Quite what this actually is I'm not sure but I would guess at Polyethelene which is long lasting in saltwater.

The build quality seems good. The strap, frame and attachments all seem sturdy and it is easy to adjust the length of the strap to tighten or loosen the fit.

I have to admit I have removed all the stickers from my mask, and can;t seem to find out after a quick online search many details of the lens. I am assuming it must be shatterproof as I believe this is a requirement of all masks so there shouldn't be any worry of the lens shattering under pressure.

      ----Options---
The mask is available in Black, Blue or Yellow for the main frame and a variation of these with a black or clear silicone skirt and strap. Personally I have gone for black all over as it makes me feel most like a spy when diving, but I don't think your colour choice is going to effect the mask much.

      ---Price---
This mask sells for around £20, which is very reasonable for a Scuba mask. As I haven't had any issues with it I would definitely recommend it as a sound, quality investment. Scuba masks are available at much higher prices, but this does the job perfectly and as long as it fits your face well I don't see any advantage with splashing out any more of your hard earned money.
