      Great camera

I have had this camera now for three weeks and its really wonderful overall. It is very compact and light and can easily be slipped right into your jacket pocket. Very different from the typical bulky DSLR but with all the functionality! It has an articulating screen that allows you to easily take a picture from many odd positions or angles. The pictures it takes are excellent quality. The controls are easy to use such as ISO and aperture. There are a few cons to the camera such as it seems the battery life is a little on the short side and the lens selection is a little limited, but I am sure it will expand in the future. All in all, I am very satisfied with the purchase of this Sony camera. I would even recommend this camera for a professional photographer. It is everything you can get with a DSLR but wrapped in a much more compact package.

      Great beginner SLR

Me and my husband are obsessed with digital cameras. We chose the Sony NEX because it looked nice. When we got it home we explored the features.

First the appearance. It is beautiful and silver and quite substantially heavy to hold. You have to put the lens on there but there is a mark on the camera and lens to show you how to click it into place. The screen at the back is quite large but it does not have a viewfinder which I know may put some people off. It is not huge like many SLRs out there so I like it as it doesn't feel clunky, instead it feels like a very expensive piece of kit.

Now the features are great. You have a choice to do everything manually although not in depth as say a canon slr or do things automatically. There are features that are standard such as video function and continuous shooting but then some Sony specials such as filtering certain colours. Then there is a panoramic function which will stitch several photos together and also you can take shots which can be converted to 3 D on your TV! We haven't used this function yet though as we haven't got the TV.

Photo quality is fantastic and you can focus the camera so you have different parts of the photo in focus. My favourite is to take shots of my daughter and have the background completely blurred. Looks great in black and white!

Now to a bit of the specs.

      Can do 1080i videos
      3 inch tilted screen
      Standard lens 18-55
      14.2 megapixels
      Hd CMOS sensor

I cannot recommend this camera enough, it is fantastic!!! There are so many more features such as sports mode, twilight mode, different colours and tones but the above is what is important to me.
