I purchased the Samsung S1070 digital camera from play.com around a year and a half ago now, because I fancied getting a digital camera and this model looked like a good deal. It cost me £79.99 back then, so I'm sure it could be purchased now for a lot cheaper than this. I personally feel that it takes very good pictures for the price, lets face it you can spend a lot more than £79.99 on a digital camera these days; but if this one does the job and there isn't that much difference in use and picture quality, then why bother? It is 10.2 megapixels, which I thought was pretty reasonable, as well as having a 3 x optical zoom allowing you to zoom in a decent amount; although it would be nice to have a bit more zoom if i'm honest. The best feature for me of the camera is the large 2.7 inch colour LCD viewing screen on the rear of the camera. All of the images can be brought up onto this screen and you can clearly see what a picture is likely to look like before you push the button and take it. It is very easy to use and there are many different shooting modes available, allowing you to take the best pictures given the environmental conditions. These really work, such as red eye elimination and flash etc and can be read up on in detail in the instruction manual. It's nice and small and will easily fit into your trouser pocket or handbag. The exact dimensions are 93.1 x 61.5 x 24mm. This is a good design feature for me, because there is nothing worse than having to carry an item around with you because you have nowhere that you can easily put it; with this particular camera you don't have to worry about this, although I'm pretty sure that most camera's should now be of similar sizes. It is also very lightweight, which is a bonus, weighing in at just 120g. You can also transfer the pictures contained on the camera easily to a pc or laptop using the USB connector - always useful for sites such as dooyoo or ebay! In general it is a great camera given the price, but my one bug bare really is the short battery life it has. The camera runs off of 2 x AA batteries, but if you are taking a lot of pictures, using the LCD viewing screen and the flash also the batteries do not last very long before they will need replacing. I have found the best option is to use rechargeable batteries as this saves some money. I have the camera in Silver, but I'm aware that you can purchase it in a variety of different colours, including pink. Overall, it's a cracking little camera for the price and is capable of taking some awesome photographs, although it does have a couple of negatives. These are the fact that the three times optical zoom isn't really enough and the battery life is too small. Apart from that though it is great. Thanks for reading, feel free to comment. Beanie8844.
When I first looked at the ratings for this camera I could not believe it! Maybe I am just a camera snob but in my opinion this camera is not even worth £50. I got my camera a while ago and it cost a little more than £50, with over 10 megapixels how can you go wrong these days? For a start I dont blame the camera for this little problem, I blame myself. I did not read the instructions correctly and if you do not use really good batteries in the camera you might as well not bother. Using the wrong type of battery will just make the camera cut out in a matter of seconds. I was impressed with the amount of menu options and functions that the camera had on it but for some reason in my opinion the photos dont seem to show up too clearly, they look a little blurry when you take them but fine on the computer! The quality of the photos themselves are fine, I could not complain about them, it was just the camera itself that I was not happy with. I seemed to be changing the batteries quite often and I did not find the zoom that impressive either. The camera is not too bad at taking night time pictures and that card I had did hold lots of photos but to say the least I wish I had of spent a little more (like £400 more) and got a better camera. For a budget camera it is great, and you do get what you pay for, maybe I am being a little synical or too hard on the camera nut I just was not impressed at all! I still have my camera and will continue to use it but I am sure that I will also continue to moan about it too, it is worth £50 but personally I would go for a more expensive model it is worth the few extra pounds.
This camera is a bargain. A reliable company - Samsung- with a camera with good specs of 10mega pixel and 3X optical zoom. The interface is very good and user friendly. It can be kept it auto mode and function very well no matter the environment it is shooting in. However, you can easily tweak the modes yourself for even better shots. The dial on the top keeps in the main modes and the turn of it shows what you select on screen with minimal effort. It doesn't look bad either!! For £70 this is a bargain, and am well pleased I have one!!
My partner got this camera about 8 month ago and i like it so much i use it all the time. It looks very smart, slim and compact but not to small to hold so fits in your hand perfect, the viewing screen on the back is very large (2.7") and clear for taking photo's and reviewing your photo's afterwards so you can deleat the rubbish. I think 10.2 mega pixils is just right for a holiday/snapshot camera and this one is perfect, it has all the bells and whistles if you want to change the settings and be a bit more adventurous, but if like me you just want to be able to grab it and shoot some nice pic's then it has a auto setting for that to! It takes a Secure digital (SD) card wich are getting cheaper all the time a 2gb card is only about £5-10 now. The picture quality is perfect in my opinion, i take the sd card out and put it in my laptop to transfer my pic's over. I have used a few digi camera's and if i was asked to recomend one then this would be it
I recently purchased this camera is i needed one for my holiday with the girlfriend. We went into all sorts of electrical shops and found them all rubbish except for jessops who showed us all the cameras. This was the perfect option easy to use is a understantement. It has everything you could want from a camera. It has brilliant picture quality and the best zoom i have seen on a personal camera. It has a huge screen to view your pictures. The samsung S1070 is a 10.2 megapixel point and shoot digital camera with 3x optical zoom.It is designed for users who are looking for a simple camera with high resolution and a low price. The S1070 features face delection a 2.7 TFT color LCD scrcen ,digital image stabilization,Iso speeds up to 1600, 10 scene modes, red eyefix. The S1070 boasts samsung's Detcction technology which delects the subject's face ,automatically adjusts auto facus and auto exposure to ensure better composition and image quality for portraits. It really looks great and in addition has a lid for protection if you ask me.I strongly think every beginner in photography should own this camera, because they would have a lot of learn by using it.
I was bought this Samsung 10 mega pixel camera as a Christmas gift from my parents last year. I think it is simply brilliant. Having upgraded from a 7 mega pixel model (also a Samsung model) the picture quality is hugely different from my previous model. It was in a sale in one of the big electrical superstores, I believe, at a cost of around £70. It was an absolute bargain - particularly to me, as I did not purchase it!! I have a newborn son and am very 'camera happy', like all new parents, carrying the camera everywhere with me and snapping away at every given opportunity. It looks very stylish and is compact. Also appears to be moisture resistant and shatter proof. My son tested it (on two occasions), by grabbing it off me, putting in his mouth and throwing it! It is still completely in tact. This model features 10.2 megapixels with 3x optical zoom, colour LCD screen, digital image stabilization and redeye fixer. I recently purchase an 8mB memory card for this camera and have taken well over 600 photographed which are stored on the memory card. I have used the cameras provided USB connector to upload these photographs on to my laptop without difficulty. Overall the features are brilliant and very easy to use. The menu screens are easy to navigate. Recommended for storage, picture quality and value for money.
Really nice little camera, good quality photo's at a low price. When my son dropped my old digital camera I was swamped with details of new digital cameras and in the end I narrowed it down to about three. These are the reasons I decided on this camera in the end:- 1) 10 megapixel means good quality photos. 2) Price - its not that expensive a camera compared to others. 3) Name - its a well known brand. 4) LCD screen size. This camera has a really nice screen size for preview pictures which gives you a clear idea of which ones to delete! 5) Its simple. It has an auto button which does all the work for you. 6) It has black and white or sepia options. Great for those nostalgic looking snaps! I have had it for a couple of months now and I have been thoroughly impressed with it. The picture quality is excellent, the zoom is brill, its really simple to use, easy to adjust to close or distant object. When you half shut the button it auto focuses for you. Its a great camera if you're looking for ease and simplicity of taking photos. I absolutely adore my little digital camera!
I was bought this camera for a Christmas present this year. I was delighted with it. The large screen was great. I loved the fact that all the buttons or controls were small, compact but clear and simple to use. We took the camera on a night out & the lights all went out. We started taking photo's of us being scared but the flash was so good it just looked like we were pulling funny faces! I had been given a black one but because I loved it so much I bought my sister one for her birthday in January. I was really pleased when I went to the shop as they informed me that they had a range of colours so I bought her a lovely pink one. Earlier this month my camera broke & as it was a present I didn't have a receipt, when I called Samsung & explained they could not have been more helpful. They quickly answered my questions & then sent me the next day a postage paid package to return the camera. I received the camera back within a week & it is back to normal.
I have had this camera for a month now and the large 10.2 mp storage was what attracted me to it. Compared to other cameras in its price range this was definitely the best value and spec I came across. It looks really smart and has a black gloss exterior and very large viewing screen. The camera quality is just amazing it produces first class pictures every time. The video facility is great also and has good picture and good sound quality. The big down side to me was just how quickly is used up batteries, I find for every 20 minutes of sue I am having to replace the batteries which is a real shame as its a fabulous camera just a pain to always have a spare set of batteries on me. I have had many comments about the camera and many people are shocked when they know the price as the spec is just brilliant. I bought this camera for £89.99 which is pretty much the standard price. It is available at many online retailers as well as high street stores such as comet and currys.
I'm going to go against the grain a bit, and try to write an honest critique which is contrary to all the other 5 star super-reviews on here. I've just upgraded to this Samsung camera from my old Canon Powershot, the Canon had only 4mp so the step up to 10mp should be spectacular, right? well no, not exactly. The truth is the 'step up' is not actually that noticeable, image quality is good but it certainly didn't wow me in any way. Pictures are however clear and crisply defined, as one would hope to expect from 10 million pixels This camera has a few neat tricks up its sleeve like the face recognition and image stabilisation, but again these have failed to blow me away and don't seem to work entirely as intended. Feature-wise this camera is a bit limited and has only a handful of basic settings to choose from. Time from button press to shot to your next shot is reasonable, even with the flash The casing looks smart, and has a nice large and bright LCD screen on the back, but the camera feels quite light and plasticky compared to others I've used, I guess this might be an advantage for some people but I prefer a bit of heft so I know when I'm carrying it. One area that I've been very happy is the video recording - This is quite memory hungry and I managed to create a 40Mb file in about 30 seconds, but the FPS and quality are really excellent and this camera will serve you well as a mini camcorder for those special moments This camera also only takes 2 x AA batteries, I was worried the flash would use these up quickly but I've been very impressed so far (I use duracell standard) I don't want to give a bad review, as its got a lot going for it and I've no doubt it will provide beautiful photos for me for a long time, but I can't help wishing that I'd spent a bit more and got something a bit more capable. Perhaps my perception has been spoiled by other cameras I've had before! BUY IT: If you are looking for a straight forward, very easy to use point+shoot digital camera that gives great family snaps or nice video clips - You'll be hard pressed to get anything better in this price range. DON'T BUY IT: If you are expecting the kind of capabilities commonly found on other 10Mp cameras - Its cheap for a reason! I got this camera from Amazon for around £68, I have since seen it in Tesco for apporximately the same price. I would also recommend at least a 4Gb memory card as they're cheap as chips these days and the pictures and video can soon fill it up
When we discovered that our digital camera had given up the ghost we went on the hunt for a new one. We wanted one that would be simple to use but took very good quality pictures as we had a new baby & wanted to have good pictures to look back on. We came across the Samsung S1070 in Tescos and liked the look of it but before we bought it we did a little research on the net to see if it was any good, most of the sites we looked at rated it 8 or more out of 10 so we decided to go back and purchase it. When we took it out of the box we where very pleased with the style of the camera, its a nice black case with a silver lens one the front and on the back is the 2.7" screen to look through when taking pictures & the menu buttons etc which are all very straight forward to use. The Samsung S1070 is a 10.2 mega pixel camera which means the photo quality is amazing and it has face detection (The idea is that it helps to produce a more sharply focused face in the photo). You have various options for what settings you want to use for the photo (there is a circular button on the top which you turn to select the mode you want) Auto - Quick easy picture taking, camera does all the work, Movie clip - Will record a video, Manual - You can set the camera up how you like & the list goes on. We just leave the camera on Auto, we know then that we will get the best picture with little fuss. This camera also comes with two leads, one to connect it to your computer (you also get the software for this) or straight to your printer and one to connect it to you TV. When you connect the camera to your computer it automatically loads the software you need & you just select all the pics you want & save them to your selected folder. I don't have a printer to connect it to so I cant tell you how easy this is. The camera has a nice quick start manual with it which tells you how to get started in 10 pages rather than the pages & pages of useless info you usually get with these types of items. Overall this camera is nice, light and compact so you can stick it in your handbag and off you go, the picture quality is amazing and its very very simple to use, basically its a great little camera on a budget (prices range from £69 - £99). Bought this item from amazon for my ski trip to val thorens and on arrival i was instantly wowed. For the price paid i was unsure if this camera would compete with other top of the range cameras but comparing this to my parents £200 10 megapixel camera i was delighted i bought this one over a more expensive one. Essentials for the camera are: Large memory card capacity which will allow you to save 100s of photos that you will then enjoy looking back at for years to come. Good long lasting batteries, i unfortunately did not buy long life batteries so was let down by the life of the camera and if you intend to use in cold conditions make sure u have Lithium batteries. A good sturdy camera case, you do not want to scrath the crisp screen the camera gives you and want to protect the camera from any little knocks or bumps. Brilliant camera.
I recently brought this camera in black as I wanted a basic camera that took good pictures that was a reasonable price so if I dropped it I wouldn't be upset. For the price the camera is amazing, 10.2 Mpix is pretty excellent for this price and the picture quality is very good. The menu functions are so easy and quick to use that changing mode or creating your own settings is really simple to do. Unfortunately it doesn't come with a carry case or a memory card but both can be found for little money on the internet. The camera is pretty strong as it has been dropped a couple of times but still work perfectly well. The camera can be used well in dark settings, i generally use it on nights out, and just as good in bright daylight. It is a good all round camera that is a very reasonable price.
Brought this for my girlfriend for christmas as she was always saying her old one was broken i went all over to try search for one that not only looked great but was a great camera product wise, i was torn between the sony cybershot or this one, after carefull consideration i chose the samsung s1070 in black. I thought for the price it was fantastic and was very happy with this purchace, the picture quality was brilliant clear as it can get and the features are really impressive. The built in memory was not the best but can take a sd card so easilly sorted, i also found that when using disposable batteries they were easilly worn out but since changing to rechargeable batteries they last a lot longer. The camera comes with a disc for easy access on the pc/ laptop and contains features to enhance the quality of your pictures.
The S1070 is a 10.2-megapixel point-and-shoot camera with a large intelligent screen. Taking amazing shots just got easier!
