A recieved this camera as a birthday preasent earlia this year, and have been happy with it ever since. As my first proper digital camera I didnt have much knowledge of things such as ISO and fn settings and macro shooting. The manual provided is very detailed and a definate must read for this camera, I say this because this camera is absolutely packed full of features and settings. Out of the box picture quality was already brilliant, better than I expected it do be, images are sharp and clear whilst staying vibrant with colour and depth. It is only when you start working out what all the different settings do does this camera come alive and show what it is really capable of. I have started using this camera for macro photography, using the manual focus option you are able to get an image in focus just centimetres from the lens and the detail at that range is striking, this method of photogrophy can really bring everyday objects alive. The camera is able to focus on a small point or a wide area, allowing for panaramic scenery shots or more focused pictures of induvidual items. The face recognition works perfectly placing focus on a number of faces in each photo to ensure that your pictures show your freiends and family clearly. With decent ISO setting ranging from 64 for those bright sunny days and flawless images to 6400 for not so bright situations. The camera has a good flash and 3x optical zoom. Overall a brilliant 'point and shoot' digital camera providing a good stepping stone into the world of photography for beginners.
Always a sucker for a bargain, I recently saw this 12 megapixel camera on offer at half price on Amazon and couldn't resist. It's an easy to use, pocket-sized 'point and shoot' camera that has some great features and it comes with a detailed manual which is over 200 pages long. Although really compact its aluminium casing makes it feel quite solid and well built. I've taken pictures indoors and outside, and all have come out really well. Pictures of my dog are amazing when loaded onto my PC, I could see the individual hairs on his coat! The 2.5 LCD display has anti-reflection coating which makes viewing photos easier in bright conditions. There's face recognition for up to 15 faces or you can focus on one individual face. The Digital Shake reduction works well and it has 21mb built in memory expandable with SD/SDHC card. There are a number of different scene modes: Auto Picture, Program, Night Scene, Movie, Voice Recording, Landscape, Flower, Natural skin tone, Portrait, Half-length Portrait, Kids, Digital SR, Sport, Surf&Snow, Pet, Text, Food, Frame Composite, Green The menus are well laid out and easy to use. You can just leave it in the 'Auto picture' mode and it will automatically select the best shooting settings or if you want to play around with the settings there are more options that most of us would ever want. Once you've taken your pictures there a number of editing options available in playback mode some examples are resizing, cropping, colour filters, brightness adjustment, red eye removal. With the digital filter you can even slim or widen an image (will come in handy for those unflattering beach shots!) Please Note: I also review on Amazon under username Big Bertha and this review (or a version of it) may appear on there
The pentax optio s12 is a great little camera and is now reaosably price, I thought I was picking up a bargain before christmas for £100 as it was originally £200 however now its saying amazon are selling it for £70...I suggest your dooyoo miles may do well to put towards this. The fact that is 12mp is what attracted me to the camera, as I am soon to be doing a considerable amount of travelling and wanted to take some very high quality images to remember. After trying it out at home I realised how much digital photography has come on over the years, as I had previously owned a HP 6mp camera which just seems shoddy now. When put onto the computer the pentax images are crystal clear, I just do not see how this quality can be bettere. Its perfect. Furthermore there are an array of features that can be used on there, meaing the camera is suitable for all scenarios from sporting to night time scenes. Well worth a lookin
The tiny, pocket-sized, 12 megapixel Optio S12 features face recognition and dynamic range adjustment that's ideal for portraits. For easy composition and review of images, the S12 offers a generous 2.5 inch LCD monitor with an anti-reflective coating and bright mode. Digital shake reduction automatically selects a higher ISO, up to 3200, for blur-free images.
