This camera has been one of the best purchases i have ever made.
So to get the bad POINT out of the way, i'll just say that a little more zoom capability on the lense would make it even better! Zoom is great as it is but maybe a little more would be nice!
Anyway on to my rave about how good this camera is..........
It has been all over the world with me on my travels to near and far countries and has not let me down yet! On the beach, in hot sweaty climated to freezing snow it has survived and still works as if it is brand new.
The picture quality is amazing and have managed to capture so many of my priceless memories along the way!
It comes in all different colours... i have the pale blue colour with silver detail (easy to find in my 'mary poppins style bag' :-)
I have even dropped it a few times and has not effected it once! For a price which should be more for what it is i think it is a must!
My sister has the same camera in a different colour and currently uses it for her a-level photography classes.
It has so many different but easy to use settings on it so you can use it for an occasion rain or shine.
These are called scene modes and they include, portrait, scenery, sports, night sky, candel light, sunset, beach and snowy scenery....and many more.
Obviously you don't HAVE to have it on a specific scene mode as you can choose the intelligent auto mode and it will 'do' like it says. It will instantly use the perfect scene mode availiable and take your fabulous picture!
The battery life on this camera is also VERY good and will last a good few days, using it constantly, before you need to charge the re-chargable battery up from the mains. All you so is take the flat battery out, pop it into the charger which comes with the camera and leave it to do its thing! (only needs an hour or so too!!!)
This is a must buy product and i know people enjoy this camera as much as i still do now!
I have bought this camera about 2 years ago and, at the time I bought it, it was a very good deal - an okay price, given it's configuration and capacities, the display, the supported memory and the handling. I no longer have to say that Panasonic cameras are still on a pretty high level in the market and I must add that I am used to Panasonic products, especially TV's and cameras (my friends and family generally prefer this brand).
The first thing I noticed was the On-Off switch. I know people don't think this is something very important but I know some cases in which users accidentally turned on the camera and they damaged their lens. Well, with a switch like the one this camera has, you simply can't turn it on accidentally and this is a scored point for me, a person interested it details that could prove decisive.
Also, I don't want to go into stuff about power, features and etc. cause I know readers are already familiarized with that. However I want to say that the number of MP's is not very important. With 8.1, Lumix DMC FS4 gives you enough resources in order to take good pictures. You can choose one of the picture modes available if you like, but the Auto Scene mode should be all you need.
The motion picture mode is also reliable if you want to shoot some small clips without great quality. For instance I use it when I want to film some air hockey or ping pong games and I'm satisfied with the results.
Is this a camera for a professional? No, but it sure is a family product, good to take pictures on various occasions. The design helps you, the size is small and you can carry it so easily. If you just want to take some regular pictures you don't need more than a Lumix DMC FS4.
I bought the DMC-FS3 when it first came out - which was an extravagance but I was going traveling and I wanted something good. Now, it's a couple of years later and I've still got the camera, I'm still using it frequently and it has never let me down. I've had other digital camera's and this one is by far the most reliable, it feels solid, it has never even had a glitch. I do some pretty rough traveling and it has stood the test. I even dropped it on the pavement in Uzbekistan, hard enough it chipped the glass - and it still worked perfect. I've taken thousands of photos and they are excellent quality- I also own an SLR camera and I don't think there is much of a difference in the photo quality. I don't feel the need to upgrade. I like it so much I bought another one for my fathers xmas present! The only limitation I have found - which the SLR fulfilled was the lack of being able to set the exposure to exactly what I wanted - it has set exposures based on scene selections or you can choose 15, 30 or 60 seconds - that isn't so good for night time photos, experimental photos or dark environments. When I do need a new happy snap camera- it will be a Panasonic.
i had had this camera a while, i orginally got given a kodak but was impressed with it so went and paid a little bit extra for this one, and glad i did. The camera quality i find is brilliant for what i need, the internal memory is poor and you need to buy a memeroy card, but you do with most cameras these days, although I can say that this camera accepts the SD memory card which nowadays most technological folk have in their house lying around, but there cheap anyway. theres a different setting for what everyday average camera user needs, it is certainly no professinal snapper it is more then adequate for ordinary use. The 8.1 megapixal is brill and you should never need more than that, it ok spending more ona 10/12 million megapixal but if you only printing of a5/a4 size pic it makes no difference. This camera is small, light and easliy fits into your pocket. Oerall i would recommend this camera, although pricing wise, i think you can get more for your money but internal spec of this camera is brill.
I've had this camera for a year and it doesn't fail to disappoint. The removable battery means you can buy spares, making the battery life last forever. The choice of colour means that it looks like one of the most stylish cameras around, particularly as it retains the traditional zoom lens in the centre of its front. Panasonic is, particularly when it comes to cameras, a very trustworthy name, and this does show here. The back screen is large enough that you can see the pictures you have taken very clearly, and bright even in the sunniest conditions. The scene modes available are numerous, and the auto-select mode is fab for taking brilliant photos with very little effort. The facial recognition does work very well - better than the Fuji that I had before this camera, anyway. The slideshow mode included is good for annoying your friends and generally having fun with the cheesy music.
One of the few problems - or rather, minor and expected inconveniences - is the video function, with which you cannot zoom in during filming, and which has quite a poor microphone. The only other thing is it sometimes takes blurry images - but I'm pretty sure that's me rather than it!
Well I have owned this camera for a few months now. I had taken it on holiday and I must say that it is utterly fabulous. The photos that were taken were top class and easily outperformed my camera even though it had cost a fraction of the price. Since then a new candidate has come out but I dont know how they could improve on this camera. Small problem is that a bigger memory card may be needed if this is taken on holiday. I had a 2gb SD card although this camera can take SDHC cards which are much better capacity wise. I also reccomend getting a fast write speed high performance card as videos are taken in 640 x 480 resolution which does take up a bit of space. The video quality is amazing considering the size and the original purpose of the product. It can easily be viewed on a television with minimal blur. The turn on time is around 3 seconds which is great to catch the once in a lifetime moment.
I got this camera for my birthday a few months ago and im loving it!! Its pretty stylish and quite slim so easy to take around with you on nights out or on holiday etc. The image quality is very good.. even pictures in clubs have come out really well, which is nice as many of my friends cameras are blurred or just really dark. It also does decent videos too with sound as well which is always fun! There are a variety of different modes on the camera so you can change these according to what you are doing... portraits.. evening.. snow etc. Another great thing about this camera is the price! I picked mine up for about £90 but I think there are cheaper ones out there now! definately worth it! A lot of the other cameras with similar features were a lot bulkier than this one, or at least a lot more expensive!! BUY IT NOW! Its grrrrreat!
I bought this camera as a present for Mr Neenaw, knowing we had a big holiday to Egypt coming up, and that between us all we had were the cameras on our phones and my very old (barey 21st century!) camera, which had been a present from my dad and embarrassingly now has less megapixels than a standard phone camera! So you can tell, I'm not exactly an expert, so I was a bit nervous. While he knows no more than me about cameras, Mr Neenaw loves a gadget and I didn't want to disappoint.
So I scoured camera websites for reviews, my main criteria being: ease of use (for camera idiots!), under £100, minimum 7 megapixels and 3 x optical zoom, compact and quite cool looking! The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS3 ticked all my boxes at a price that was comparable or lower than rival brands - that were not quite as well-reviewed as it either.
First impressions - I was expecting a compact, slimline camera, but it was slimmer and dinkier than I realised and fits really easily into your pocket/tiny camera case. Shallow but important: it looks really rather cool - I got the black one with silver trima and really like the content.
Ease of use - Mr Neenaw has never got the hang of how to use his camera phone and generally refuses to read instructions. He's never had a digital camera before. He's had no problems with this one. The camera is much more intelligent than us on its auto-settings which do pretty much everything for you. Sure, there are many different manual settings, which you need to delve into the manual for, and which I'm sure will pay dividends if we get round to it. But so far they've been woefully underused (though Mr Neenaw has been spotted looking a few things up, which just shows how taken he is with it).
Picture quality - for a point and clicker, taken by beginners with little/no expertise we've been getting great results. We went totally snap-happy on our holiday in Egypt and the camera seemed to cope well with a range of conditions (bright sunlight/dark/close-ups/scenery/pyramids!). I also noticed that while you get a bit of delay on the flash, it's much better than with some friends' cameras where you seem to have to fix that grin for about 10 seconds!
Niggles - very little. Because it's so dinky, my clumsy fingers sometimes press the wrong control when flicking through photos! The range of manual options will also take quite a bit of manual-reading if we're actually going to use them.
However, overall I can't recommend this little camera highly enough. We love it!
I bought this camera recently and I have been very impressed with it so far. It is very light, slimline and looks very smart. It is very easy to use, with a useful intelligent mode which works in all environments. However, the camera has a number of different modes which can be set on further investigation to get better quality photos. These modes include night portrait, wedding and fireworks. The manual is quite long and detailed, but helps explain all aspects of the camera's usage to help improve understanding. This camera would suit people who want an easy-to-use camera which takes brilliant photos in all different environments. I can't find many faults with this camera, though people may find the buttons quite small, but you don't really need to use the buttons that much, especially on intelligent mode and a big LCD screen compensates for this. I would definitely recommend this camera to everyone.
This digital camera is a must have it is highly recommended and is which camera's camera of the year for 2008.
The photo quality is suberb although it can be quite tricky to use. You do need to cosult the instruction manual to discover the different ways to use the camera. Although taking general photos and accessing them is simple and user friendly.
The camera is slim and discreet and will easily fit away unnoticed in your pocket.
It has 3x optical zoom and is an 8 mega pixel camera. It is easy to charge with an adaptor that plugs into the camera and charges the internal battery.
Excellent design and build quality among the best in this price range. This digital camera is money well spent for any amatuer photographer.
a good all round camera with the high quality photos being the best feature. One down side is that the red eye control is not always good.
