      Give this one a miss

Well, as promised, here is the second camera review from me in a week! Apologies for any repetition, but I must explain to anyone who thinks I'm making stuff up that I currently own two cameras, and this one is my back-up camera which wasn't high enough quality to keep for holidays but is good enough for things like nights out where you're not too bothered if it gets scratched or lost.

I received this camera many years ago, it was actually a Christmas present from an ex-boyfriend. At the time, I didn't own a digital camera so I thought it was amazing, but as with all things technical, it soon began to look really dated and poor quality. At the time I remember thinking it was "compact", but looking at it now next to my more recent camera, it actually made me smile because it's so chunky it's unreal. The dimensions are 87.5mm x 62.5mm x 38.5mm. To be honest, in terms of height and length it's reasonably normal, but the width is so large it makes it a little on the chunky side. The weight is 140g, which is surprising to be honest because it looks so big and clumsy it's actually lighter than it looks.

Personally, I find this camera a little awkward to hold as it's so chunky it doesn't rest in the hand nicely like some other cameras do. It's not too heavy to carry round, although it is a little heavier than other cameras, it's more the size it will take up in your bag than the weight.

The front of the camera looks quite sleek, but the back looks really "busy" and cluttered. There are a lot of large buttons, and also a sort of wheel/cog which is used to choose settings. This makes it look a little cheap, and reminds me of those disposable wind-on cameras. The buttons are so big they take up a lot of space on the back of the camera, so the screen on which you view the photo you are taking is very small, around 1 inch x 1.5 inches. In my opinion, this makes it difficult to get a good quality picture, as it's not very easy to see what you're taking a picture of.

It's difficult to believe this camera only has 4.0 megapixels. These days, most mobile phones take better quality photos than this camera, and they're smaller to carry around! The camera has a 2.8 optical zoom which isn't great but is better than nothing. It takes 2 AA batteries which I only remember changing a couple of times so it never really bothered me that the battery wasn't rechargeable as this is just one extra thing to have to remember to do.

As a starting point, this camera was quite useful for introducing me to the world of digital cameras. It literally is as simple as pointing and shooting. The quality of the pictures isn't bad, it's not as sharp as more modern cameras, but is perfectly adequate for things like family photos and general snaps. It does have a few different modes which are useful such as "Portrait" or "Night" mode. I had a play with these and found that you actually can't go far wrong with the "Auto" mode. There is also a self-timer function but I've never used this.

This camera also has the ability to take small video footage, I remember using this a couple of times when I first got my cat as a kitten, and it was perfectly adequate to give you the general gist without being overly clear on detail. I've just checked online and apparently it can record for up to 1 minute 22 seconds.

The processing of this camera in between pictures is very very slow. This means you'll have to wait a while before taking your next photograph, which can get frustrating if you're trying to take a group shot, or catch something in action. Also, it pays to be careful when deleting photos, as there is a similar time delay which means sometimes you might think it hasn't registered you want to delete a photo, press the button again, and end up deleting a photo you didn't intend to delete.

I'm not sure if I'm being a bit harsh giving this camera two stars, but it's just so outdated I really can't recommend a camera which takes lower quality pictures than the average mobile phone. This camera only seems to be available second hand from places like Ebay, for as little as £20. Even at this price, unless it's to introduce a child to cameras, I couldn't recommend it.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        Not all that good actually!

I previously owned a big Panasonic brick digital camera and when that gave up I got this camera. I was given it as a present, so it was great value for money, but I think at the time it cost £100. I have had it for a couple of years so I am sure there are many more modern and smaller cameras - and to be honest I might end up ditching this one to get one of thise smaller, better cameras!

There is not a huge amount wrong with this camera. It takes good photos in every kind of weather and the quality of print is definitely sufficient for the kind of photos I want, which are just normal every day ones, nothing professional!

However, there are definitely problems and these maybe only started as it got older. For example when I turn the camera on it takes ages to take the first photo. For some reason it kind of sticks and you have to be patient, which can be annoying if the moment is lost.

Also the battery life is now not great. However this may be because the camera is a little older now.

Not the greatest camera you would ever get, but it is ok and does the job. I probably would not recommend it now as technology has advanced so much!

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        Great little cam

This is a great little camera definitely one of the best models in its price range. From the front it is a great looking camera but on the back it is quite busy, all the buttons are needed. The part i dont like is that it uses a sort of cog to change the mode this is quite difficult to use as sometimes it doesn't move and then when you put a bit of welly into getting it to go round it goes to far and on to the wrong setting.
The screen is quite small but yet again it is a small camera so it does fit in quite hard to see the picture you have taken. When you plug the camera into your pc and blow them up though it is very good picture quality also when you have blown up a video on to it.

I managed to get a great video of my aquarium on it there was no blur unless the fish started chasing each other then they just looked like small dots moving on the camera.
The night mode does not work very well only makes things more visible you have to put the flash on in the dark but then everyone looks like ghosts with red eye.

The stabilization doesn't really work you need to find something to put it on so it doesn't blur, a bit of a pointless mode as it doesn't do what its supposed to.
Obviously potrait and landscape just adjust the picture for the way you hold the camera whilst taking the photo.

It is a very good camera but a bit older than the new models and the technology is not as advanced i would recommend if you are not very good with cameras as this is very easy to use if you dont like a photo you have taken when you see it on the screen there is a bin button below the screen then you use the arrows to move the selector over what you want to press. simple ill give it an 8/10

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        Not very easy to use

This camera is quite okay for normal use. The main problem with it is that you need to press and hold the button for a few seconds before it takes the picture. Thus
        a) one's hand often shakes and the picture is out of focus
        b) the subject moves (especially if it's a wriggly baby, as in my case!)

The good thing about it is that it comes with an adaptor like a thumb drive making transferring pictures to a computer an absolute breeze. No need to fiddle with cables and wires.
