Little bit too big, but takes a cracking picture whether at 3x zoom or 14x

I bought this camera a few years ago and absolutely love it. The low light HS photos come out great, but can often be slightly orange so the white-balance sometimes needs adjusting. The 14x optical zoom is huge and you can take a photo of almost and it still be perfect quality. There's also a digital zoom which goes up to around 50x, but the quality is significantly lost at the higher end, and images become incredibly grainy and pixelated. This function was really no use at all, but you can turn off the digital zoom function in the camera settings.
It's made from a smooth, brushed steel casing and feels really hard-wearing and robust. The best things about this camera are the beautiful portrait photos that can be taken, and the fully adjustable programs. The only issue with this camera is that it's a lot larger than most compact cameras (owing to the huge zoom mechanism) which means it can't be kept in your pocket for quick access when travelling. You need to buy a case big enough for it and keep it round your neck, and unzip the case to remove the camera each time (this was a big issue for me when off-roading in the mountains in Thailand).

A good camera, but not really worth the money

I received this camera for my birthday and was expecting it to be a real upgrade to the previous Sony camera which I owned, especially with canon being one of the 'big guns' of the digital photography industry. However, I wasn't as pleased as I should have been with the quality of camera which I received, don't get me wrong, there was nothing explicitly wrong with the camera - its just it wasn't any better than my old one and I am sure you would all agree that at nearly £200 - this camera is one a 'cheap one.'

One of the real strengths of the camera is its zooming capacity, far superior to many of the other cameras which I have had experience of. It did make the camera especially helpful for taking pictures of wildlife when on holiday as you can take a stunning photo from quite a distance away. I also like the size of the camera, it can be difficult to transport around something so solid as a Nikon and the compact aspect made it perfect for taking abroad, tucked away in the hand luggage.

All in all there have been no problems with the camera, but, I am just confident that with a good 'look around,' a camera of the same spec can be found for a cheaper price.

        a superb camera

I purchased my cannon powershot camera a few months ago and it hasn't failed me once.

It is so easy to use that I didn't need to turn to the instruction booklet once. From battery and memory card installation right through to the various setting, everything is explained on screen. This was particularly helpful as I wanted to get snapping immediately.

There are smaller cameras out there that do feel less bulky in the pocket but for something that is neither a micro nor bulky SLR camera this provides great results every time.

Image quality is superb for the price you pay and when used on a tripod or with a steady hand night shots are easily achieved with no blurring what so ever.

Great fun to use, robust and attractive to look at. This camera is a winner for anyone who doesn't want to get too serious but also wants to achieve good quality photography.

I have successfully taken landscapes, city views, family and pet photos and even some action shots from a football match with this camera.

        I recommend it whole heartedly.
