I as a wedding photographer am a very big fan of the canon slr cameras and highly recommend them over their competitors. As with any slr camera the quality of your pictures depends entirely on the lenses you have for them and this can sometimes be very costly. I would recommend as well as the kit lens the 50mm 1.8 or if affordable even better the 1.4 or 1.2 as this is great for portrait photography should that be of interest to you and also a 75-300mm lens for those slightly further away shots. I am a big fan of canon as the build quality of the glass in the lenses is second to none, whereas some of the competitors have a more plastic lens that warps and distorts images. more specific to the 6d itself the advantages over this is it is a full frame sensor and that means if you have a 1.2 50mm lens then you actually get to take full advantage of that and not have cropped images. For a high end professional camera the price is also very affordable compared to other full frame cameras. Canon also have a lot of other real cool featured on their cameras that are really easy to navigate and use without having to really think about it. One feature the camera has is a small dial next to the view finder that lets you adjust the focus, so if you are sort or long sited, etc then you can adjust the focus to your eyes and does not effect the actual shot taken this is purely how you see it.
