The Canon IXUS 240 HS is a great little camera to take on trips where you're already having to carry a lot of other items. It won't get in the way and is easy to turn on and get snapping.
For the tech fans, it has a 16.1MP CMOS sensor (backlit) and even has wi-fi capabilities. Infact, the wi-fi on this camera is one of its better features. It makes posting to Twitter as easy as doing so with a phone. It also has a touch screen that makes all the old style camera buttons obsolete. It's very much like a camera phone, but without the phone.
It must be noted that if you want to connect to your Iphone then you will need to download the app. There is currently no android app.
If you're more of a features kind of person then there are a lot of different ways to take photos. The main one I look to use are the smooth skin filter, but there are are others including fish eye and soft focus mode. There is also a HD video mode, face ID (recognizing your favourite faces) and an automatic movie summary of your days filming.
But these are let down by a touch screen that doesn't always work. Rather that it being easy to use, you find yourself pressing it over and over. It can get tiresome and one of the negative aspects of the camera.
At around £260, it is a steep price for a phone that fails to in specific areas. Though it's smaller features are great, it's just not helped by the major features that fail to deliver.
Bought this recently as have always been pleased with canon in the past. It's great as set up very similar to my old (rather dated) Canon camera now so easy to use for a technophobe like me.Indoor picture quality is excellent, which is one of the main reasons for choosing this camera. Zoom is very impressive too.I would recommend this product. Yes it's true you have to buy the memory card separately, unless you already have one as I did.
I brought this camera from jessops for £169.99 a few days ago. it was available in two colours black and sliver so i brought the black one. The box was very detail and ey catching. When i opened the box you get the camera of course, battery, manuals bu you have to buy the memory card separately as they never even put one in there ou will also get a usb cabe and charger. the camera have a massive 16.1 megapixel with 5 X zoom and it also have a feature called zoom plus where it can go 10x the zoom. the clever thing about this camera is that it can be connected via the wifi and i do belive other devices so that it can be easier to share the picures you have taken. it also have a feature where it can regonise peoples faces. I belive it can only do thisto 12 faces and possiibly something to do with facebook but there was no facebook app on the camera so i dont know why this feature has been added into the camera i have only connected to my wifi to y computer and nothing else. Looking in the manual it looks like you can connect the camera to mobile phones by the wifi. the camera i have used to film a few videos the great thing is that the picture quailiy is excellent and the sound is ok but no perfect. The great thing about this camera is when your friends and family are around you can connect it up to your HDTV and show your films and photos without the need to get a laptop out or show it on the camera screen. the camera also uses its own battery which if you take on Holiday or out and about and run out of battery power you cant just whack in 2 AA batteries so that may cause some problems as the battery does not really last that long. but overall the camera is a fast, decent and with so many features such as choose proto type in scenes and changing the photo type from colour to black and white. Thecamera does need some improvements such as a rubber grip and better battery life but overall for a camera that can do a lot witha touchscreen, wifi and hd recording i do thing £170 is a ok price mark overall this is a ideal camera to have for so many things such as making a quick film, taking photos in different scenes such as rooms, outside light, dark etc the camera will help you choose the best mode for your photo with great results. I would recommand this camera for someone like me who will use the camera for casual use and not use it all the time as. Just dont buy this camera if you will be using it 24/7 or going away on Holiday as the battery life is shocking and it would probley die half way through our Holiday. this camera is a ideal camera for days outs and short films
