I first got this neat gadget a few years back, and have been recording high-quality videos with it ever since. This sleekly designed handheld is an impressive product.
== The Design ==
Right off the bat, what's immediately striking to anybody who sees this camera, is the design. Sure, from a product shot online it just looks like a square phone... but when you have it in your hand for real, you'll see that it's a smooth, sleek little thing with a compact, convenient structure.
== Video Quality ==
Well first of all, you can see what the video quality of this is in the specifications; you don't need me to tell you that this can record in HD. But I'm sure your question is, "does it, record in HD :P"?
There's many products about of this nature I'm sure which offer promises of quality higher than they actually deliver, and many can find it hard to believe to fit such components in to such compact spaces now, but trust me: the quality of this video is real; it's crisp, loud and clear.
== Ease of Use ==
Beyond how bad-ass it looks and how well it records, I'm sure you want to know how easy is it to use? well, that's certainly another perk of the Flip cam - this thing is incredibly easy to use.
You have one prominent big red button to record, and away ya go...
As for how you transfer video on to your laptop or PC? that's where you get the name: FLIP... what happens is; a little USB input flips out the side, and you plug it straight in to your PC!
That's what I was also talking about when I talked of the sleek and compact design, and you can of course see I'm sure why I referred to James Bond. Even though, I hate Bond (unless any James Bond fans are reading this, in which case, I love Bond!... *cough*, *cough*, *wink*).
== The Last Paragraph Where I Sum Things Up and Stuff ==
Okay so you know the look, you know the quality and you know how easy it is to use...
What else could you want to have qualified? well I suppose the price of course. In terms of price, I'd say this is reasonably priced. You could say it's a little expensive but, I do believe good design and robust quality is worth paying for, and if you're like me, the price will be justified.
To sum up (told you I'd sum things up!): I'd say this is an excellent little cam, and gadget that is perfect for carrying around in your pocket and recording any funny or arbitrary moments (such as say... a squirrel running up a tree to get a nut! who WOULDN'T want to record that!?) - and it's a great alternative to an expensive hand-held video camera; which also wouldn't fit in your pocket. Unless you're Rick Waller.
So all in all, great product.
I bought the flip video hd for a gift for my husband while we were expecting our first baby - a proper dad gadget!
The flip is lightweight, very easy to use and can record up to 2 hours of video before you have to transfer to a computer to free up space. We were very happy with the quality of both the sound and video on the flip.
It's easy to connect to a computer, just flip the USB connection out the side of the flip and plug it in! The software you get with the flip is brilliant, easy to store your videos, rename and organise them. The software is also great for editing your videos, you can stick video clips together, add text and background music etc, it's brilliant!
This version of the flip takes rechargeable batteries, it came with a battery pack. I prefer rechargeable batteries over having to plug the device in to charge as you can easily carry extra batteries around with you!
The only downside to the flip is that you can not copy your videos to DVD very easily at all, I have only managed to do this by using separate conversion software and it can get a bit complicated! Personally I don't have a great need to put the videos onto dvd's but if it's an important feature for you then I would look elsewhere!
Recently I have been using my smartphone to record a lot more than the flip as my phone is also hd, however, a stand can be fitted to the flip so it's still great for times such as Christmas morning etc.
