      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      8/10

If you are touring around the south-west of Ireland, Tralee makes a great base as it's in close proximity to many other towns with all they have to offer as well, which makes for great day trips.

there is plenty to do in and around tralee. the town itself has an abundance of shops with a couple of modern shopping centers, countless traditional Irish pups, nice restaurants, attractive hotels and further out into the countryside, there are lots of Bed & Breakfasts.

other attractions in the town include a swimming/leisure center, tennis courts, and a beautiful town park with a "rose garden" (created for the annual rose of tralee festival) and the blennerville windmill.

a little further out, there are many activities, especially near the sea! there is an abundance of businesses offering watersport activities and also horse riding along the beaches.

As Tralee is situated at the foot of the slieve mish mountains, there are many opportunities for people interested in walking, cycling, hiking etc to get out and about and enjoy the magnificent scenery. There is a lovely mountain drive between tralee and castlemaine over the mountain with stunning views, on a clear day you can see for miles over the landscape and out to sea.

the only disadvantage really is the town could be made more attractive and clean. there can be a lot of litter and a lot of the shop fronts need decorating etc.

      Great Place To Visit

Tralee is a coastal town that lies in the South West of Ireland. This town is the county town of County Kerry and is one of the largest towns in the South West of Ireland. The town has a population of around twenty one thousand people but as this is a resort town it often gets much busier in the summer months when people come to visit the area. There is some lovely coastline in this area and also some excellent scenery inland, for these reasons people keep coming back to visit this area year after year.

If you are looking to stay in Tralee there are not to many hotels to choose from. However there is The Imperial Hotel and also The Grand Hotel, these are the two biggest hotels in the town and both offer quite high standards. They have excellent rooms, service and facilities and should be just fine if you are planning on staying in either. There are also a few nice little bed and breakfasts and guesthouses in the town that are also good for accommodation. There are plenty of holiday homes in the area, some of these are owned by big companies and some are privately owned, most of these are set in lovely scenery and are great if you are looking for self catering accommodation.

There are quite a few places of interest both in the town and in the surrounding area. Blennerville Windmill is Ireland's largest functioning windmill and is quite a spectacle, this is just a mile or so from the centre of Tralee. There is also the Kerry County Museum, this is a good place to learn about the local history and see some interesting exhibits. There is also a large leisure centre in Tralee with a great swimming pool and even a mini golf course, this is a good place to visit with the family as there is plenty to keep the children entertained for a few hours.

The town also has some very nice bars and pubs which are worth a visit. In the summer months when the town is busy there is often live music on in some of the bars and there is always a great atmosphere if this is the case. Some of the bars are quite modern whereas some are very traditional and give you a really good Irish experience.

County Kerry is well known for it's spectacular coastline. If you head either way up or down the coast you will find long sandy beaches, spectacular cliffs and even some great surfing spots. The scenery in this area really is wonderful and it's well worth getting out and exploring what this county has to offer. This really is a lovely little town and it does have some stunning scenery surrounding it, if you have never visited Tralee then you are missing out, next time you are in the area go and check it out.
