Leighton Buzzard is neither exciting or boring, it sits in the middle. Being 21 and a full time worker living in a village 2 minutes away from town, i could honestly say i take no interest in the town as there is nothing to do or go. Maybe once in a while it might be someones birthday and we might meet for a drink in the town prior to leaving before going to milton keynes where the variation in bars, clubs and also general night life is so much nicer and maybe a little classier. In Leighton Buzzards defence, i do agree that it does lose out on attraction as there are so many more dominating towns/cities near by and i would say that maybe it is a nicer to have a quieter town in amongst all of the hustle and bustle of lets say Luton, Milton Keynes, Aylesbury and London jus tto mention a few. I do wish that there was stronger action taken on the parks and the centre of Leighton Buzzard, but for years there doesnt seem to be anyone listening to the young people of Leighton Buzzard. Thank you
I have been in Leighton Buzzard for many years now and I believe the town is very boring! Every weekend I have to leave the town to somewhere like Milton Keynes as they have a massive Shopping Centre for all ages! There’s also is a Cinema, which has ten screens! I believe that Leighton buzzard is a thousand times worse! Leighton Buzzard has one Cinema screen which is in a Library and also shows films about a month later than it was set to come out! The Attractions: In Leighton Buzzard there is nothing to do! Down the town there is a couple of shops, which are mostly charity shops, and a market that doesn’t have anything to offer it just really gets in the way and it’s quite annoying! There is a Woolworths, which is probably the most exciting shop there! Every year there is a ‘May Day,’ which is always rubbish! This year I didn’t spend one penny on it. I spent about 1 pound on chips and that was it! There were three dodgy rides, which were about as exciting as my big toe, it was that boring! Up and down the Fair there was stalls, which you could clearly see you couldn’t win on any of them. Up the town, which I have already said is a library. It is good to do work in there but the Cinema is absolute rubbish. I’ve been to there twice and both times I found that I was cramped up in a small room and the screens really did look tacky! There are many pubs though; it’s probably what Leighton are known for! There are about eight or nine! Most of them do music and all your favourite dinks! The most popular pub in Leighton is probably the Waterborne! It does all your favourite music, drinks and it has a café next to it! This café does lots of food so you wont get as drunk when you drink that extra pint! There is also a music player that you can put your music in to it just in case you think there is boring music in there, so they are keeping the public happy! But there would be more pubs than this as recently there has been two pubs that have closed down because the landlord of both got himself bankrupt! But we’ve still got our eight or nine left! There are also no parks around Leighton. There is actually one, but it is over ruled by drug addicts and alcoholics so it’s kind of hard to go over there if you’re a kid. The football goal and the basketball ring have been trashed and I don’t even think they have had that for half a year! For the unpopular people it must be worse as you wouldn’t even be invited over to the park! I used to be, but I said no as there is too much smoke around there (I’m an asthmatic!) They all understand that but I still think the council or even the police should get involved as it’s ruining children’s fun! Especially when you see people drinking at about 5pm while little children are trying to play football! There is one on the outskirts of Leighton Buzzard, which is also over ruled by drug addicts! There are sometimes syringes around the place, used ones. This is disgusting, as these people don’t think about the safety of our next generation of children! So basically what I am saying is that Leighton Buzzard in general is much of a hell hole (except if you’re a hardcore pub drinker!) Charity shops over rule the town and drug addicts over rule the parks. We have a market that just gets in the way, which is near the Library, which is good for work, but the Cinema above it is Rubbish. That about sums up Leighton Buzzard! I haven’t mentioned the Leisure Centre, which is One of the best you will ever see. But that is in the next town Linslade! They have to shop in Leighton so I bet they feel the same way! Also I know that people from another town that is next to us, Heath and Reach, think worse of the town than I do which is degrading the town quite a bit! I’m not saying that the houses are in the dumps because it is the opposite! It’ ;s just there is nothing to do in it at all! Thanks for Reading Seanaphun
Vandyke Upper School and Community College opened in 1976 as a purpose built 13-18 comprehensive school to serve the town of Leighton Buzzard on the western edge of Bedfordshire. It has an impressive range of facilities including a theatre, a floodlit artificial turf pitch and other specialist accommodation. School inspectors were very complimentary about the school, most especially about the high quality of teaching and students' enjoyment of Vandyke: "There is a particularly high proportion of good and very good teaching ..." "Students enjoy school life, express pride in their school ..." Vandyke was awarded a Charter Mark for Excellence in Public Services in 1997. Well, I have lived in Leighton Buzzard for nearly 18 years now. And to tell you the truth, I hate it, and I can’t wait to escape. It is an average size town with nothing going for it. Surrounding it our several villages, and again, not much going on there. The main advantage is that it is close to the every growing Milton Keynes, and if you stand by the train station on a weekend day, you can see all the teenagers flock up to Milton Keynes. The reason for this is that Leighton Buzzard has nothing to do for the teenagers. The High Street has no major chain stores, and is full of little partnerships/sole traders that close down after a couple of months. I think the local council realise that Leighton Buzzard has a problem with Youth Development, but yet, they don nothing about it. A few representatives have tried to start up events such as ‘Party in the park’. But to be honest its nothing compared to Milton Keynes, and any other town. Leighton Buzzard has several Sand quarries which sometimes we have raves in, and Bob Monkhouse li9ves in one of the surrounding villages. We have a 4-track train station, with trains running regularly to London, and Milton Keynes. The town has two major upper schools on different sides of the towns, and this does create quite a bit of rivalry. The town itself does has quite a bad drug abuse reputation, and some might say this is due to the lack of activates for teenagers to do. With have a theatre that is situated in the library. The theatre shows the best out at the cinema, which is quite good, but its always about 6 months out of date. We don’t have a cinema or any major arcades. We also don’t have a major take-away chain, like McDonalds or Burger King, Pizza hut or KFC. Though there has been speculation about one soon. The town has one Leisure centre, which has two Swimming Pools, and several other facilities; we also have a couple of Gyms. We have a Tesco and a Safeway, and a s mall Waitrose, but no sign of a Sainsbury’s or Asda. In the high street we have a Woolworth’s, Boots, WHSmith, but nothing really bigger than that. The town also has a few Bakeries and loads of Pubs. In total there are about 35 Pubs, which are good to do Pub Crawls on, as they seem to appear in a line. So if you are reading this, then either you are thinking of visiting/moving here, well DON’T; or you already live here…. UNLUCKY.
Okay Leighton you either love it or hate it and i think this depends on your age, if your a middle aged person or anything higher then it is perfect. Its a very quiet town situated in between Milton Keyens and Luton, which are two very useful places. It is also on the train line to London so is therefore perfect for commuting to London or Birmingham. As for the town itself it has some very good qualiteies the High Street is adaquet for everyday uses like food shopping/grocerys but after that it is not very usefull otherwise. Then there is a Libary with a small theater built into it and that is the High Street. Also in situated Leighton is a Leisure center and a very scenic stretch of the grand union canal. The other major pullin gpoint for Leighto Buzzard is the education facilities, with The Cedars Upper School being well known over the country for its high level of success. So for any adult really Leighton Buzzard is a nice place to come and live, especially to bring up children in, being quite close to countryside means that a five minutes drive and all you have around you are open field or woodland area. Now if you are a teenager Leighton Buzzard is hell! There is nothing in it at all as you can tell from above, you are best to stay away from it all. Theres pubs and thats about it, in the way of clubs nothing! Then shopping absolutely no decent ones at all! This place is hell. I mean yes it is very good to travel to Milton Keynes but so annoying to have to get a train every time, just stay away from it! So this may have now painted a bad picture on Leighton with the last comments but bassically it is a slow moving town, a nice peaceful place to come settle down in, that is until your children are teenagers ....
