Great little place...well worth a visit.

Braemar is a quiet little place situation about sixteen miles West of Ballater on the River Dee with local attractions including fishing, hill walking, skiing, hotels and pubs and a few good restaurants. Accomodation for tourists in the village consists of two hotels, one in the centre of the village and one on the outskirts on the way to Ballater. As well as this there is a camp ground to the East of the town. For the size of the village it has an abundance of amenities including a post office, a Co-Op and a Spar, public toilets, fire station and a police station and a tourist information point surrounded by four outdoor clothing and sports stores. Braemar itself is situation in a valley surrounded by two or three Munroes, and some sweeping hills meaning its actually quite a sheltered area and can be quite warm in the Summer, although Winter time is frozen and snow is almost guaranteed. The only thing to be careful of is that the town shuts down at 5pm sharp because everything is small and privately owned, so make sure you get your groceries in early or else your stuck with a 32 miles round trip to Ballater.
