***HAAGEN DAZS ICE CREAM***
Haagen Dazs are well known for making delicious ice cream which is available to buy in a range of different sized tubs and they are also available to buy on sticks as well. They are well known for some of their popular and different flavours such as Baileys, Cookie Dough Chip, Cookies & Cream, Strawberry Cheesecake and more. Their ranges can be found in all good supermarkets and some local shops. Prices may vary but mini cups start from £1.50 and the larger sized tubs cost approximately £3.99, however prices may vary in different stores.
***HAAGEN DAZS VANILLA***
My favourite flavour is vanilla, pretty boring compared to all the other choices of flavours available but I just love the taste of vanilla and had to try this ice cream when I walked past the section in my local supermarket. The ice cream is a mixture of pure, sweet cream and imported vanilla which creates a sweet scent of exotic spice and a distinctive taste that lingers on your tongue. The tub is available to buy in 500ml or 100ml.

The ice cream comes in a pint sized cardboard tub which is a dark red and gold colour. It has a plastic lid which is mainly gold in colour. On the front of the tub it states the flavour and also has a small picture which is a vanilla pod. On the back of the tub you will find a list of ingredients and other information.
When taking the lid off of the ice cream there is also a plastic covering which covers the ice cream. This simply peels off to reveal a lovely creamy white ice cream. The ice cream looks smooth and it smells delicious. The vanilla smell is quite strong but it smells very pleasant. When taking the ice cream out of the freezer it's quite hard to get out of the tub so I just let it sit on the side for a few minutes until it has melted slightly and then it's easier to take out of the tub and it's very creamy and soft.
When putting some of this into my mouth it just melts on my tongue and fills my mouth with a lovely vanilla flavour. The ice cream is smooth and creamy. I have never tasted an ice cream as yummy as this before. After eating the ice cream it does leave a nice slight vanilla and creamy taste in your mouth. I like the ice cream when it's slightly melted as it tastes creamier and smoother.
This is the best vanilla ice cream I have tasted. It's so smooth and creamy and has a nice strong taste of vanilla which I love. Although the ice cream is quite expensive to buy its worth the treat every now and again and I'm sure you won't be disappointed. This is also available to buy in mini tubs as well which are just as nice but after eating one it wasn't quite enough and I wanted more. I would highly recommend anyone to try this. I would be very tempted to try other flavours as this one was so yummy.

Haagen Dazs Ice Cream is creamy and the envy of every other ice cream brand, and this continues this trend. The taste and high quality is exactly the same as other Haagen Dazs flavours. However, it is more expensive than other brands, and is hard to remove from the container.
The packaging is very nice and easy to read, with big clear text. The ice cream is always fresh, and can easily be opened and closed with no fuss. On the other hand, the packaging is similar to other Haagan Dazs flavours, so it can be hard to recognise and find if you are in a rush.
When you open the container, a sweet smell drifts into your nose. The ice cream is hard to remove, but not as hard as other flavours from Haagen Dazs. This might be because it melts quicker than other flavours, with no flavour chunks. As soon as the ice cream enters your mouth, a nice soft vanilla melts in your mouth. It is very sweet, but not too sickly. This will melt in your mouth.
The product can become sickly after a while, but this is good as the ice cream is very addicting and it is very easy to eat the whole, or most of the tub in a short amount of time.
Again, the product's quality is very high. The ice cream taste great and is always fresh. The tub is always full to the brim, making it seem like you have got good value for money. Again, no other brand, except Ben & Jerry's can touch it.
However, the product is very expensive, but it is worth it with the great standard of the ice cream. Second, it is hard to remove, but not as hard as other flavours.
In summary, the vanilla flavour is another brilliant flavour from Haagen Dazs. The flavour is great, and the texture is very soft as it melts in your mouth. Everyone will love it. The price might be high, but it is a small price to pay for the lovely taste experience that you will encounter.
I'll admit it, I'm normally a Ben & Jerry's girl, but on finding a tub of Haagen-Dazs Vanilla in the freezer instead of my usual chocolate brownie, I thought I'd be daring and try something new.
First, a bit of background to enjoy with your ice cream. Haagen-Dazs is a company with a fair amount of history and weight behind it. It began in America in 1961 with just three flavours - vanilla being one of them - and has since grown to be a worldwide company and probably one of the most famous names in ice-cream.
But what is it like? Well, it's not bad. Appearance-wise, it comes in a traditional cardboard ice cream carton, which certainly adds to the whole luxury ice cream experience; much nicer than a plastic tub! The carton I had held 500mls (one pint), but you can also get vanilla in Minicups, which hold 100ml and are just enough for one.
On first opening the carton, everything looks good. Haagen-Dazs is fairly thick and doesn't have that horrible frothy, airy texture you sometimes get with cheaper ice cream. I was also pleased to note that there was no disgusting icy top layer... just solid, rich-looking ice cream. One of the selling points of Haagen-Dazs is the amount of cream in the product, which is good but it does mean that you have to leave it to soften for about a minute. (If you try scooping it straight from the freezer, you can only scrape off tiny shavings, which then melt disappointingly in the bowl. Definitely not a good thing.)
Soft scoop this ain't, so even when it's softened you'll probably lever chunks out of the tub instead of perfect scoops, but it's worth it for the density and creaminess. The texture is spot-on, but the colour is a bit of a let-down...there's a definite lack of vanilla seeds and it's more of a dun colour than a pale cream - preferable to the neon yellow of artificial vanilla ice cream, but somewhat disappointing when compared to, say, Green & Black's.
And the taste? Like the colour, this is where it falls down a bit. It's by no means artificial-tasting, but it doesn't have the creamy, soft flavour of vanilla that I'd expect. It's hard to describe the flavour exactly - I wouldn't call it harsh, but there's definitely an undertaste which isn't, but almost tastes like alcohol. It's certainly odd and takes a bit of getting used to...this is definitely ice-cream for the adults rather than the children!
What I will say, though, is that if you're looking for purity, Haagen-Dazs is commendable. The ingredients are listed as "Fresh Cream, Skimmed Milk, Sugar, Egg Yolk, Natural Flavouring: Vanilla", which is pretty good. As you can probably tell, though, this is not an ice-cream for dieters - the nutritional values, ominously, are not listed on the carton (probably so people don't faint with horror - anything with fresh cream, sugar and egg is not going to be slimming!)
In terms of availability, Haagen-Dazs is pretty much everywhere. You can get it from most supermarkets including Tesco, Sainsbury's and Somerfield, so finding it won't be like finding the Holy Grail! It's usually priced around £3.79 - not mind-blowingly expensive but definitely not cheap, especially if you're not keen on liqueur-ish vanilla!
Now the main feature of this review is of course the Häagen-Dazs, but I will be comparing it in contrast with Ben & Jerry's ice cream as well, this way you really do get the full flavour. Reuben Mattus is universally acknowledged as the person who created the super premium ice cream market with the introduction of Häagen-Dazs in 1960. Häagen-Dazs is one of the pleasures in life, and your probably thinking well where did the name "Häagen-Dazs" come from exactly. Well for those of you who don't know, when Reuben Mattus created this ice cream sensation in 1960 he wanted it to sound special and of some significance so he gave the American company a Danish name with an umlaut (Häagen) for effect, as it is not part of the Danish language. What an ice idea by Reuben.
I wont go on about the history of Ben & Jerrys as you can find that in some of my other reviews but all Ill say is this; If your looking for flavours Ben & Jerrys is the one to go for whereas if your looking for passion and elegance then Häagen Dazs is your type of ice cream.
However back to the point, this vanilla ice cream is the essence of elegance and sophistication. This perfect marriage of pure, sweet cream and imported vanilla creates a sweet scent of exotic and distinctive tastes that linger on your tongue. How can something so simple be so profound???(Sounds good huh)
In comparison Ben & Jerry's vanilla ice cream is I might add, a new edition to this year as well as the fact that vanilla is one of the new flavours sold in bigger tubs, along with chocolate and the simple flavours that we all long for, cool huh. There's more to this Vanilla ice cream than its incredible beyond-homemade taste, it's consciously concocted with a particularly flavourful vanilla blend, including vanilla made from beans grown & harvested (like Häagen-Dazs) by small-scale farmers in Indonesia, and thats a fact.
So now you've heard my opinion why don't you tell me yours as ice cream is my number 1 subject and Im keen to hear what you all think? Even though Im Ben & Jerrys all the way!
To achieve the subtle purity of our signature Vanilla, we use only natural vanilla from premium-quality vanilla beans. Smooth, rich, with an intoxicating vanilla scent, Häagen-Dazs is our gold standard of vanilla ice cream. Vanilla is the essence of elegance and sophistication. this marriage of pure, sweet cream and imported vanilla creates a sweet scent of exotic spice and a distinctive taste that lingers on your tongue.
