      Asda Tiramisu

My thoughts of Tiramisu have put me off buying or ordering this desert from a menu. I am not a great lover of coffee and in my mind, this desert was only for caffeine addicts (sponge soaked in coffee, creamy stuff and coffee on top!!) How wrong was I! I saw this duo pot in Asda recently and thought what the heck, let's give it a whirl. The deserts can be found in the chilled desert fridges. The packaging is nothing too fancy, beige in colour but by no means boring. It has a picture of the desert which exactly matched the yumminess on the inside! I paid 94p for two pots which are very substantial in size (100g each). Each pot had its own cellophane seal over the top to ensure freshness. Upon peeling the lid back, you are greated by a chocolate, coffee scent. I do believe the top is dusted with a powder which is a mixture of the two. I eat everything in layers (yes I know I am weird and I may enjoy foods more if I had a little of everything on my spoon!) so I eat this layer first. This then reveals the creamy mascarpone. This is definitely my favourite part of the desert. It is smooth, sweet and moreish! Very light in texture and not sickly. Underneath the mascarpone is the sponge fingers (im sure they probably have a posher name, but they are the same as sponge fingers which you would put in a trifle!) which have been soaked in marsala wine. Nothing to overpowering at all and very yummy. They aren't soggy in texture but are well soaked. I always thought this layer was soaked in coffee which I think is what put me off the desert in the first place. Overall this totally exceeds my expectations of Tiramisu and will be something I will definitely order and buy in future!

Rich and delectable, made with mascarpone cheese, marsala wine and coffee soaked savoiardo biscuits.
