A lovely mug I enjoy using.

I am an avid tea drinker - we're talking 5+ cups of tea a day without fail. I work a lot so it does obviously depend on how much time I have but often when I am doing my childcare jobs I sneak in a cup of tea or two. As well as drinking a lot of tea I own an awful lot of mugs. I have this weird theory that different shaped mugs suit different tea drinking moods. For example in the morning I like a really tall mug as these insulate the heat better and this wakes me up. In the afternoon I like a really wide mug because this holds more tea and also it cools more quickly so it's relaxing to drink. Sounds mental but I swear by it. I bought this mug from the Cath kidston outlet in Bicester. If you haven't been to Bicester it is just outside Oxford and basically like a massive retail outlet. It's kind of set up like a village which is pretty cool but basically they have designer and known brand shops that sell last season things for dead cheap. The Cath Kidston store was cool because most things were half price but her things don't exactly go out of season so everything was a real bargain. This mug retails at £5.00 but I got it for half price, £2.50 is pretty good for a decent mug! The actual mug is ceramic with different coloured and sized polka dots on it. These are very colourful and decorative and though a simple design it looks very stylish. Though I love the floral designs you get at Cath Kidston I love this bubble mug because it is totally unisex and appropriate for all tea or coffee lovers. It also has a slight sheen to it which gives it a super really smooth feeling all over and makes it nice to hold. The handle has enough room for you to loop your fingers through without crushing them. The mug is circular all the way round and then tapers towards the bottom of the mug. It is made from relatively thin china but still feel pretty good quality and also insulates my tea well. It has also really stood the test of time for me and after a year of washes it is still pretty pristine. I really love this mug because of the size of the cup and thus the amount of tea it can hold. I also think the thin china keeps the tea super hot and warms the cup up, great for winter! It also cools quite quickly making it both a good morning cup and a good afternoon mug for me. I am glad I managed to get this in a half price sale but I would definitely also be happy to pay a little bit extra for a good quality mug like this. Overall, a lovely mug that keeps me warm in winter.

        Mug from Cath Kidston

I love buying mugs and have quite a large collection! I also love the British designer Cath Kidston so when I visited the Cath Kidston shop in Oxford it was no surprise that I came out with two new brightly coloured mugs! Before I tell you about my lovely new mugs, let me tell you a bit about Cath Kidston. Cath Kidston is a British designer who produces a range of items including clothing, china, bags and outdoor accessories to name a few. The designs are very distinctive and once you become familiar with her designs you will be able to spot one a mile off! Back to my mugs! The mugs have a design known as bubbles although they look like spots of various sizes The spots are yellow, red, blue and pink. The mugs can hold 18 ozs so are much larger than normal sized mugs. This really suits me especially in the morning when I love my large mug of tea! The handle of the mug is also quite large making it easy to hold. The china is good quality and despite daily use has no chips. I have owned these mugs for several months now and have washed them every day in the dishwasher. The spots are still brightly coloured and they show no signs of fading. I paid £5 each for my mugs which is probably more than average. However I think these mugs are worth every penny as the design is lovely and bright, the size generous and the china of good quality. These mugs plus other designs are available from several retailers in addition to Cath Kidston stores and web site.

          Cath Kidtson Bubble Crush mug

I love collecting mugs and I also love Cath Kidston prints so the newest purchase I have made is her bubble crush mug. Cath Kidston is a British designer who produces a range of accessories, clothing, homewares and outdoor products. She has a very nostalgic, romantic look to her fabrics and designs and although not for everyone she has a look that I love and I really enjoy the choice across her stores and website. I would describe her look as quite homely and pretty and something generally women like more than men. I would describe this mug as a spotty mug rather than having bubbles on it.The nug has a white background and then lots of different coloured spots on it of different sizes. The colours include yellow, blue, pink and red and they are really bright, colourful and inviting. I actually got this mug as a bit of a joke as my little girl is really into the Mr Tumble Something Special show on CBeebies and in it he likes everything spotty, especially his spotty bag. This mug is the closest thing I could find to a Mr Tumble spotty item, even though its not a bag but I bought it as my husband and I always joke about having a spotty mug! The mug itself is nice and big and the perfect size in my opinion and always provides me with a good cup of tea. The top is a bit wider than the bottom and is a shape of mug I like. I am quite fussy about my mugs and like different ones at different times of the day or for different drinks, tea, coffee, hot chocolate etc (is that weird or is everyone else like this) but this is one of the mugs I like pretty much all the time. The handle is thin but sturdy and big enough to hold with your whole hand. The mug is 100% fine china and is dishwasher safe although I have never but mine in a dishwasher as I don't own one (much dishwasher is called my husband!!) so I can't comment on how it holds up in a dishwasher. It is not safe for microwaves though. Its a nice cheery mug to have and one I don't mind giving to guests either who always comment on how cute it is. All Cath Kidston's mugs are reasonably priced for their nice designs and this one is just £5 which I think is a good price for a good quality mug. I got mine from John Lewis but you can buy direct from her website too.

            Cath Kidston Bubbles Crush Mug

I bought this unique, shabby chic style mug from amazon a few months ago for £5 with free deliery. I actually bought 2, as i had intended to buy one for my friend but it looked so nice i couldn't help but treat myself to one. The main reason i was attracted to it was the simple but unique style, and the fact that it is a cath kidston product, who i'm a huge fan of. The mug was £5 with free delivery which isn't overlly cheap for a mug, but for a cath kidston product it's a complete and utter bargain and the quality is amazing and the mug is much bigger than i was expecting; i half expected it to be a miniature mug as cath kidston products are usually mini or slightly more petite, but the mug is infact an extremely good size and holds upto 18oz, which equates to 530ml, so it is ideal as it saves going and filling up the mug as much as i would with a smaller mug. It's bigger than my usual mugs but doesn't dwarf them, it's more thick than tall. The pattern as i said before is very shabby chic. The background of the mug is white, with a white handle. The body of the mug is eye catching and has 'bubbles' all over it, which are really cute as they look almost drawn on due to the innacuracy in the sizing and shapes. They vary in sizes and colours, with light blue, light pink, dark pink and green bubbles. Due to the colour scheme i'd say it's more a mug aimed at women but i don't think a man would look out of place drinking from it, i just can't see a man appreciating it as a present! The mug is made from fine bone china. Unlike most bone china products, which i've found to be usually more lightweight, it's quite heavy and is nice and sturdy - not at all fragile. The mug is quite chunky and is generous in size. Although it's larger and heavier than an average mug it doesn't effect washing/storing it and it's not so heavy that it hurts to hold it. The handle is nice and sturdy and is the right size to comfortably wrap my hand around it and pick it up Because the inside of the mug is white, it does get coffee stains at the bottom and on the brim but as it's safe to be put in the dish washer and is easy to hand wash, the stains soon come off. It's also microwave safe and i find myself often sticking some milk and hot chocolate mix into it and putting it in the microwave rather than fiddling about with the kettle. Overall it was a great buy, and even at £5 i think it's a bargain as mine has lasted for a while now (7 months) and is brilliant quality - i've not experienced any fading or chipping etc. It's lovely and i've found it brightens up my mug cupboard. It'd be ideal for a house warming/wedding gift etc and my friend loved hers, whenever i'm visiting she'll be drinking tea out of it!

              5 stars

As part of my dooyoo Christmas stocking of prizes, I received this lovely Cath Kidston mug. Dooyoo must be secretly stalking me as I still haven't got around to buying a nice mug for work, but after careful thought I decided I'd keep this one at home as the ones at work tend to go missing on a regular basis. The mug manages to find that balance between being elegant and having a large capacity. It stores a generous 18oz, which Google informs me is around 530ml - so it holds a lot but doesn't look massive. It's bigger than the standard size mugs I have at home, but it's not so big it's difficult to store, hard to wash or easy to knock. The mug is a plain white colour, cheered up by the brightly coloured spots, or 'bubbles', in green, blue, pink, yellow and red. I often find with Cath Kidston that the designs are far too fussy for my tastes, but this simple design will suit any kitchen and I wish they did more things in this kind of style! There are also other designs in the range, including stars, and apparently a lot of people mix and match them to create a set. The mug has a shiny, glazed finish, and it narrows down to the bottom which has a rough china finish and a removable sticker with 'Cath Kidston' written on it. The mug is made from fine china/porcelain, and it's a bit thinner than a standard mug but you don't feel you have to treat it extremely carefully like a cup. The quality is excellent and the mug is flawless. The design has an extremely good finish, and it does look like an expensive product. As I don't drink coffee or tea, the only hot drink I've tried in this mug is hot chocolate. It does make a generous amount, and I tend to splash in a bit more milk and add an extra teaspoon of powder to prevent the taste being diluted. Despite the size it seems to retain heat pretty well and my hot chocolate didn't get colder any faster than usual. I also found that the bigger circumference was a bonus for stirring as it was much easier to mix together without little clumps of powder forming on the top. I've also used this mug for juice and water, and it's a good size to fill up and keep on my bedside table in case I'm thirsty in the night. The mug is also dishwasher and microwave safe; I don't have a dishwasher so I haven't tested that, but I've had no problems using it in the microwave. This mug is fairly reasonably priced at £4, and can be bought from Amazon and House of Fraser as well as other Cath Kidston stockists. This is more than you might want to pay if you need a complete set, but for £4 it would make a nice gift for an office worker or a coffee addict, particularly as it bears the Cath Kidston name and isn't a cheap 'novelty' mug. It's well-finished and durable, and as it doesn't come in a set you can buy odd numbers if you wish. This is also the kind of mug that would look great as part of a set hanging underneath a kitchen cupboard or dresser, and if I ever get around to buying a new kitchen there will definitely be a hook for it! No disadvantages for this one, so a full five stars and thanks to Dooyoo for sending it to me!
