This is such a handy tray and one I do most of my cooking on. I think it's always a good idea to have a tray like this in your kitchen cooking cupboard because it can be used for many different things. I probably use this tray everyday for lots of different things and it has served me well. I have probably had this since I moved into my new house which is quite a few years now so I think it goes to show just how good quality it is. I has the inevitable dirt spots that I just can't shift but apart from that it's still a great tray.
I think the first thing I like about this tray is that it's just the perfect size. It fits in the side oven of my Rangemaster perfectly and is really easy to get in and out. The size of this tray is given as 39cm(L) x 27cm(W) x 2cm(H). The nice thing about it is that it has raised rolled edges so unlike a regular flat tray, these edges give you something to hold on to when you pull it out of the oven which I really like as it means I don't drop it or spill anything from it.
The raised sides allow me to cook things like chips on it without having to worry that they will fall off inside the oven or when I try and take it out of the oven.
The tray is coated with a double layered non-stick coating which has still stayed on after all this time which I think is another example of what good quality it is. For me, I never quite think that non-stick is always 100% non-stick and of course if you bake something for a little too long it will stick a little bit to the tray but the beauty of this tray is that the things that have stuck on wipe away easily once you have soaked it and no traces show up on the tray which is nice. When I bake cookies I must admit that even though this tray is non-stick I still put a sheet of grease proof paper down on the tray to cook them on but it's handy for baking on as again, the sides keep the cookies on the tray.
The tray is fine to put in the dishwasher and I always wash mine in there. It has still kept its flat shape and has never come out of the dishwasher warped as the metal is such good quality. This is actually a fairly heavy tray but I find it easy enough to lift with one hand so that is a good benefit when you are cooking.
The tray is also fridge safe as well and I find this handy as I often use it as a base when I make a jelly so I can put the jelly mould on it and then put it in and take it out of the fridge easily. The tray is always fine when I take it out of the fridge so again, another benefit of it.
All in all, an excellent baking tray.
I recently bought a new cooker for my home as discussed in a past review and at the time of purchase also ended up buying a good quality set of pans for use on the hobs. Having bought for the outside of the cooker it soon became apparent that I would need a set of baking trays for use in the oven and was lucky enough to be given a few essential items from my ex mother-in-law who is a keen cook. One of the trays was this one from Betterware, she remembered buying it on a whim from the catalogue but hadn't had much use out of it so I gladly took it off her hands as it saved me the expense of buying something for myself and as I'm not what you would describe as an ambitious cook in the kitchen this tray serves me well for what I expect of it.
It's a large tray measuring 28 x 44cm and is charcoal grey in colour, it's smooth to the touch with an enamel coating which is non-stick and gives you something to put food items on when cooking or baking in an oven. It has quite deep edges which prevent food from slipping off the sides and is of a good weight that it doesn't feel flimsy or poor quality. It doesn't buckle or lose its shape when faced with high temperatures and is simply a well made piece of cookware that does the job it's supposed to do. I use mine when I'm heating up oven chips or garlic bread baguettes amongst other things and I find that it's of decent size to allow me to cook for either myself or a couple of people. It washes well, any cooked on food is removed relatively easily in a bowl of hot soapy water and I haven't noticed any of the enamel chipping off the surface of the tray and overall I do think it's a good quality item that should withstand many years of use and wear.
As mentioned, I'm not an ambitious cook so I only heat things through on this tray, it's not used for home baking or in and out of the oven multiple times a day and I don't give it that much abuse so can't really comment on how it would be fare in a busy kitchen environment. For me it was a gratefully received freebie which saved me the expense of buying something for myself and for what I use it for I have no complaints whatsoever. I don't know how much the baking tray cost as it would have been rude of me to ask but I can't imagine it would have been a particularly expensive item when it was bought, baking trays can vary in price with some of the big brand names charging exorbitant prices for their cookware but a quick look online for the purpose of this review reveals that nowadays the same item retails for around £6.00 which I think makes it quite good value for money given its quality.
All in all it's a well made, good quality enamel baking tray with a non-stick coating and does the job I expect it to do. I have no reasons not to recommend it should it be something that takes anyone's eye in the Betterware catalogue and it gets a five star rating from me. Thanks for reading my review.
