We now finally have a new oven in our cottage! It is long overdue as the previous one was over 20 years old. We didn't want to spend a great fortune but at the same time we wanted to get something reliable. A bit of research online and a look around some shops shoewd that Beko have good make ovens and that this one looked ideal. It cost us £265.

This is a free-standing cooker so perfect for our cottage. It is not too wide either, it's 90cm x 50 x 60 so was perfect for the space we had. It was available in white or silver. We chose white so it ties in better with the old-fashioned kitchen in the cottage.

This is gas so you do need a gas engineer to install it for you.

It is narrower than other ovens so ideal for a small space.

The grill comes with a grill pan and detachable handle. The handle is not easy to get to stay in place and so now I don't bother with it and just use my oven gloves as I was always worried it would come of whilst I was carrying it and the whole pan would come crashing down.

The hob is gas which I always prefer as I think you get more control over it. The grates are nice and secure so your pans will be in place nicely. And the oven is a decent size.

The controls are very easy to use and the temperatures are good so you can control the heat well. The only issue I have found is sometimes it takes a while to ignite, you really think it must have lit by now and then look and it still hasn't! This is a bit frustrating but also a good safety feature too I suppose- no danger of turning it on by mistake!

I've not had to clean inside the oven yet but I have cleaned the hob several times and it's been easy enough to do as the grates come off so you can clean them separately. It does get a little greasy but I find some hot soapy water along with a sponge is usually enough to remove this.

So far I have been pleased with this purchase as it's been very reliable and I like that it's slightly narrower than some ovens as it's ideal for us. I hope it will be as reliable as our old oven and still be going strong in 20 years time but we shall see!
