If you're a contact wearer you will know how great they are but also how annoying they can be at times too. I wear contacts as I can't really see without them but after wearing them for quite a few hours my eyes get really dry and also one or the other will hurt at times too and I keep on having to blink to make it not go blurry again. I discussed it with my optician at Vision Express (who are really good by the way) and the advise was to either cut down on the amount of hours I wear contacts during the day (not always possible) or use eye drops. I have tried to cut down and sometimes I don't wear them on certain days but on the days I do wear them for long periods of time these eye drops are great. Blink Contact Eye Drops say they, "provide soothing relief and long lasting comfort for all contact lens wearers." According to the box, "Blink Contact Eye Drops can help restore comfortable moisture levels within the eye, specially formulated for those who wear contact lens or those who suffer from allergies. Modern lifestyles mean eyes can be put under strain from long periods of concentration, or working in front of computers, low humidity working environments or long periods of travel. The gentle formula relieves dryness and irritation caused by dust, glare, pollen, air pollution or overwork, giving more comfortable lens wear all day long. Dry, irritated, fatigued and red eyes can be quickly soothed by Blink Contact Eye Drops." The drops are really easy to use and the nice thing is that you can add them to your eyes when you have your contacts in. I find this really helpful when I am about to do some driving and I still need my contacts in but also need some moisture added to my eye. The drops come in little plastic viles which is really handy because I can keep just a few in my bag and use them when I need them. Then, you just twist off the bit of plastic at the top and turn it upside down and squeeze the drop into your eyes. I can immediately feel a nice moist sensation and I let it get into the eye a little bit before I blink and close my eyes and let the moisture distribute all over my eye. The drops do not sting in any way, they are just nice and comforting and immediately take away my dry eyes. They are a little bit expensive at £5.49 for the pack but I don't use them everyday and I like the effect that have on my eyes.
I'm kind of 'blind as a bat' and I don't really like wearing my glasses as the lenses are a bit like milk bottle bottoms. They are quite heavy too, this is partly my fault though due to the frame that I chose this time, a large geek chic style plastic frame. The weight doesn't bother me really as I've always worn glasses right from being a toddler, it's people knowing how short sighted I really am when they see how thick my lenses are! So I basically wear my contact lenses five or six days out of seven, and for probably an average of fourteen or fifteen hours a day. The only way that I'm able to wear my contact lenses for such long periods of time though is with the help of these Blink for contacts eye drops. I buy these from Boots, and I buy the box of 20 individual little vials for £4.99. They do also sell this in a 10ml bottle for £4.09, the bottle is slightly better value for money as the total amount of solution in the 20 vials pack comes to 7ml, but I personally think that the individual vials are much more hygenic. I also think that the individual vials are handier for carrying about with you, I always have a few stashed in my handbag. Boots do occasionally have them on offer either on '3 for 2', or on 'buy 1 get the second at half price'. Frustratingly at the moment though only the bottles are on offer not the individual vials packets. When I see the vials on offer I do always stock up. The eye drops are suitable for use with all types of contacts lenses; both the gas permeable lenses, and all of the different types of soft contact lenses including the daily disposable contact lenses. I wear a combination of both the monthly disposable contact lenses and the daily disposable contact lenses; I wear the monthly lenses on a day to day basis, and I wear the daily lenses on holiday or for weekends away or nights out for the convenience factor. I use these eye drops with both my monthly disposables and my daily disposables. I would say that 80% of the time I use these drops is whilst wearing my contact lenses, however I do use these when just wearing my glasses as well, they are not just purely for contact lens wearers only. The eye drops are a very gentle formula and don't sting my eyes at all, either with or without my contact lenses in. Normally when I wear my contact lenses my eyes can get a little dry and itchy towards the end of the day, sometimes even sooner than this if I'm in an air-conditioned office. When this happens I would just use one of the little vials and pop a couple of drops into each eye which will solve the problem and relubricate my contact lenses and eyes. I would also tend to use these on a night out if my eyes are getting tired, which they seem to do a lot quicker when I wear my contact lenses, again a couple of drops in each eye will refresh and soothe my eyes. I use these if I have dry or irritated eyes even when not wearing my contact lenses, and find that they are still just as soothing, and still give just as instant relief. I always use these on a long haul flight as I find that flying does leave me with dry itchy eyes, once again a couple of drops will relieve the irritation and put the moisture back into my eyes. These are also handy for if you get a piece of grit or something in your eye to effectively wash it out, in this instance I will use the whole of the vial in the affected eye to flush whatever it is out. Each vial is a one time use only vial, but to be honest there is only enough solution to use once anyway. Obviously it should go without saying that you shouldn't share the opened vial with anyone else. If you are using these with contact lenses then you use them with your contact lenses in, there's no need to remove your lenses to use the drops. You basically just twist off the plastic top of the vial and then place one to two drops into each eye as required. I always use two drops in each eye, I do always wait a few seconds for the first drop to 'soak in' though, as otherwise I find that the second drop just runs out of my eye if I drop the two drops in both together. This is both a bit of a waste, and bad for my make-up! I also just blink a few times after I've popped each drop in, to help disperse the solution around my eye, and more importantly under my contact lens if I'm wearing my lenses. I find that the soothing effect that I get from these eye drops is really long lasting, and it's very rare that I would use two vials in a day. I've been using these eye drops for longer than I care to remember, and I have no plans to stop anytime soon. They enable me to wear my contact lenses for much longer than I would be able to otherwise, without them I'd probably only manage around seven to eight hours a day, whereas with them I can comfortably wear my contact lenses for up to fifteen or sixteen hours a day. They are also just perfect in general for dry, irritated or tired eyes at any time, and they really do relieve and freshen up your eyes.
I wore contact lenses for years and suffered with dry eyes. Noone informed me of eye drops otherwise I might still be wearing them. I suffered terrible with dry eyes and headaches. I eventually plucked up the courage to go and get laser surgery. After I had this done I was given two bottles of Blink Contacts eyedrops (along with many other eyedrops to stop infections etc) and I was told to use them every hour or so for the next week then after that to use them 4 times a day for a week and then after just as and when I needed them. I was told that dry eyes is one of the side effects you get after having laser surgery. I did not notice how good they were at 1st as I didn't know what it was like without them. My eyes always felt refreshed and moist. After approx a month I stopped using them as I felt I didn't need them. I soon started getting headaches and my eyes felt gritty. I decided to buy some more drops and see what they were like after that. I went to my local chemist and they did not sell Blink ones so I decided to just get any, I thought as long as the chemist said I would be ok to use them then they would be fine. I went home and started using them straight away. Unfortunately they did not work. My Mam works close to Boots the chemist so she went in there and bought me some Blink. When she brought them to my house I explained that I had already bought some but it had made no difference. I then decided to just try them anyway. I instantly noticed the change, my headache started to ease off and my eyes felt 100% better. Blink is not as widely available as other makes and I have sometimes had to buy other ones instead but they have not had the same effect. I would recommend these to anyone who suffers with dry eyes or headaches directly behind the eyes. They are available in a box of individual drops for a price of approx £4 (depending on where they are bought from). the box includes 30x0.35mls. They are also available in a bottle of 10mls for approx £3 depending on where they are bought from.
