Ever tried to download a large file? If you have a dial-up connection like me I’m sure you have screamed at your computer when you get disconnected in the middle of a download. This will never happen to you again if you get Go!Zilla. The best function of Go!Zilla is that it can resume downloads from any interruptions. So if you get disconnected you can just reconnect and your download will continue where it left off. You can also manually pause the download and start it again whenever you choose. You can do this for as many different downloads as you like. You can schedule downloads to start at whatever time you like – this way you can download when the servers are less busy and get higher download speeds. One of the best functions of Go!Zilla is the broken link detector. If you are trying to download a file and the link is broken, then Go!Zilla will automatically find other links to the same file. You can program Go!Zilla to use mirrors as well. IF there are several mirrors of the same file then you can make Go!Zilla constantly swap mirrors and get the fastest possible download. Whenever you click a link where the windows download box would normally come up; Go!Zilla appears and takes over. You can also manually insert links for Go!Zilla to download. Go!Zilla runs in the background whenever you are on your computer and pops up when necessary. I haven’t experienced any slow down due to Go!Zilla running in the background. However it doesn’t stop there, Go!Zilla has many more features and functions. If you can’t find the software or download you are looking for then let Go!Zilla look for it. Click the find button on the menu bar and search for whatever files you are looking for. You can use ‘update monitor’ to monitor the locations of the files you have downloaded – and alert you if a new version is available. Go!Zilla features a ‘leech’ function whi ch will, when activated download all links from whatever page your choose. Go!Zilla has content channels which help you make the most of the Internet. These channels will keep you up to date with the files you are interested in. There are many different channels, from mp3’s to shareware. Of course if you can’t find a channel for you, just create your own! All of these functions and Go!Zilla is free and easy to use! The interface lets you do anything you want – fast, and it looks good. The only negative is that (unless you register [which costs $39.95]) you have to have an advert banner at the top of the Go!Zilla program box. The features don’t stop there either… when you download Go!Zilla you get Zip!Zilla – an unzipping utility which automatically unzips any zips files you download. You also get Gator – a program that automatically fills in any online forms for you. This is an excellent utility that now that I have it, couldn’t live without it. It has made downloading from the Internet a whole lot easier and faster. Considering it is only a 2.2Mb download – it is well worth it.

Everybody would like a bit of extra speed, especially when it comes to downloads, however I don't feel GoZilla! (free version) is the answer as the programme itself comes complete with one of the longest running spyware (adware) engines Radiate (formerly Aureate Media) What Radiate does is basically use you for their own market research purposes, your PC will be given a unique tracker so they can 'monitor your internet activity' (spy on you) as you surf the web, this actually consumes bandwidth, bandwidth you could be using for your downloads!! And if you think "I'll just get rid of GoZilla and the problems gone right??? I'm afraid wrong is the answer as even if you are not using GoZilla and go as far as uninstalling it, the Radiate spyware stays happily on your PC using your connection for its own purposes, and if an update arrives the spyware updates itself without your permission/knowledge (this factor alone could turn out to be a major security risk in itself!) Spyware aside the GoZilla programme itself isn't the best, its resource consuming (even on power PC's) and its interface clustered and crowded. So basically I recommend you stay well away from the free version, if you really must use a download manager and you like GoZilla buy it because then it will be spyware free, otherwise I'd keep looking.

Go!Zilla is a download manager which lets you manage your downlaods in ways your normal computer doesn't let you. Its free and you can downlaod ti from www.gozilla.com. I use this program to download all my games and other downloads. (For music, I use Napster-See me Napster op) The best thing about it is that you can resume your download even if you get disconnected. You can start a download today and finish downloading it tomoorw or even next week! This is a very good addition, especially if you are downloading large files. Most of the time, if you click on something to download it off the internet, Go!Zilla will automatically open up and the downlaod will go from there. If it doesn't, you can simply copy and paste the address into it and it will download. You can have as many downloads as you like on at the same time, but the more you have, the more time it will take to download. I recommend one at a time as they go very fast this way. When you start or finish a download, a dinosaur sound will come on. It's pretty cool! You can also arrange your downloads into different categories.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

Ever had to download files from the internet, well you'll know how stressful it gets when that download is almost complete and then "Oh No", a message appears saying the connection to the server has been broken. "THE CONNECTION HAS BEEN BROKEN. WHAT DO YOU MEAN THE CONNECTION HAS BEEN BROKEN" YOU SCREAM AT YOUR COMPUTER". Finding it desperately hard not to punch the monitor or smash the keyboard in two. Anyway, this is where a brillant little program called Go!Zilla comes into the picture. In a nutshell Go!Zilla is a internet download manager. When you click to download something Go!zilla pops open, finds one of the fastest and most reliable servers and begins downloading the file for you. The best possible reason for getting this program is the fact that if your downloading something and you get disconnected you can resume the download later. In fact Go!zilla will resume the download no matter how many times the connection fails. Like I've said Go!zilla will even find the fastest and most reliable server for downloading the file so the chance of a poor connection is reduced dramatically. Say for example you wanted to download a file from the internet, say a PC game with a total file size of 90Mb (a massive file). This sort of file will take hours upon hours to download on a 56k connection, but with Go!zilla you can download it in sections over periods of time which suit you. Lets say you download the first 40Mb of the game then you could continue to download the rest of the file at a later date (brillant!). When downloading a file a dialogue box will appear showing all the available servers and how fast their connection to your computer is. While on this dialogue box you can re-name the file before downloading and if you decide that you don't want to download the file until later you can simply add the file to Gozilla's download later list. Then wheneve r you want to can re-visit the "download later" list, click the name of the file and click on the download now option. Go!zilla isn't short of clever features like those mentioned above. Go!zilla makes downloading files no matter how large an absolute dodle. The program is adware meaning it is a free program, but shows you internet ads while your using it in the bottom of the program window. You will hardly notice these ads and they are not irritating at all. In fact they are rather useful. The program also offers channels (links) to excellent download sites where they offer a massive array of freeware, adware, shareware and demo files. The channels it offers are truly excellent and these are displayed near the top of the program window. When you click on a channel name it opens a menu showing "Hot download Picks", the "most popular downloads" etc. You can even add your own download sites as a channel. Finally I'd better mention the fact that Go!zilla as a range of available skins. Basically a skin is just a file that modifies how the program looks to suit you. So if you want to program to have a groovy 60's look, you got it. The range of skins is quite large and there should be a skin or two to suite your own personal tastes. Get Go!zilla, the ultimate download manager and no matter how many times your connection is broken Go!Zilla will sort your download out. Surberb, 5 star program. By Dooyooexpert.

I thought I'd try Go!Zilla after reading a Dooyoo opinion, it allows you to resume your download where you left off just in case you lose your internet connection. The Program is free to download, like many others, (Web Ferret, Cutepage etc), as it has advertisements flashing as it downloads. A handy tip for downloading, is make sure that you give the file a specific name as it can be quite difficult to tell what it is that you've downloaded. All in all, this is a great download manager to have on your desktop.

this is the best downloading software i ve used , it has a real good interface and all its function are easy to use.the ability to leech files from some website is also nice and adds to its features .The download scheduling i just wonderful and with the additions of some more features this could be the best software. The thing that could be improved in this software is mainly to enhance the sceduling of the dial up connections ie the ability to connect and disconnect at predeined times in a row , so that you can schedule one download at one time and the second download at say 50 mins later .Another feature could be the ablity to split larger files and download them from different locations to speed up the entire download. But still this is unarguably the best download manager thats FREE to the user.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

Go!Zilla is software which can speed up your downloads and let you pause and resume downloads from where you left them. This is all good if you are in the United Kingdom and have a 56k connection with an ISP who kicks you off every 2 hours and you have a lot to download, but the software comes with a nasty surprise. It is that instead of it being freeware, it is actually spyware. This means that the software displays an advertisment in the window and that a cookie is installed onto your system and it finds out what web sites you go to. Then the cookie sends the information it has found out and sends it to Aureate, the software maker and then Aureate have the chance of selling this information and you get adverts which they think you will attend to. Otherwise this software is fine :).

The piece of software that I picked up from these people have beed faultless in the short time I have had it. I wanted to download the Halflife add-on Counterstrike but as it was 83mb I thought that it would be far too risky to try and get it in one session, an eight-hour session. I therefore get gozilla and could do it whilst I got my emails on ten seperate occasions. The web page for Gozilla is www.gozilla.com. A version is free to download from here. If you download a lot go here as soon as possible as it will save you the stress of downloading the same file twise. I think it is brilliant.

Go Zilla is a great download manager on the net because it lets you restart downloads, search for mirror sites, see a graph of progress and set download start and stop times. Downloading with Internet Explorer is much harder because of the lack of these features. There is of course the drawback of adverts but you are able to buy Go Zilla if you really don’t like the adverts. I find Go Zilla indispensable. I would recommend Go Zilla for anyone who often downloads files of more than 1 Mb.

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

Despite the great abundance of freeware programs available to perform virtually any task, there are only really 2 Download Management programs to choose from. Go!Zilla is one of these. Anyone who regularly downloads large files from the internet will not just find Go!Zilla useful, they will find it essential. For those who have never experienced the problem, if the connection to your ISP is broken during a download you will lose everything so far. That is unless you are using Go!Zilla which will create a partial download file and allow you to resume downloading from that point. Besides the obvious advantage, this utility will search the net for other sites from which to acquire the program you are downloading, which can often result in faster transfer. However, the program does have several limitations. The greatest problem being that a download can only be resumed from a site that supports the facility. Of course if you are using a major site, (eg) updating your anti-virus program, you can expect this support.

Go! Zilla! MONSTAAA Downloadz! “Up from the Depths, Thirty Storey High, Breathes Fire, HIS HEAD IN THE SKYYYY! GO! ZILLAA, GO! ZILLA, GO! ZILLLLAAAAAAAAHH!!!” Ooops. My apologies for any copyright infringements or cases of mistaken identity. But a MONSTAA util deserves a MONSTAA introduction. And that was it. No, it’s not a pet hundred-foot behemoth. It’s better and infinitely more useful. Whereas the common, good-for-very-little GoDzilla is used for the sporadic dose of wantant destruction, GO! Zilla is far more constructive. I’d go as far as saying that this is one of the gems of the download crown. For frequent downloaders of large files, this little app is capable of downloading things for you. Gone are the days when you click on a link to await the “save file as” box, followed by the default windows progress bar. Gone are the days when you’ve gotta start downloading FROM SCRATCH as the link that you so desperately craved and spent hours sorting after turns out to be the least stable in the galaxy. Go! Zilla changes all that. You can drag and drop links into it’s relatively easy to use interface. This means you can allow Go! Zilla to download all the things that you want, without you having to oversee all the operations. If Go! Zilla does encounter a faulty link or is disconnected prematurely, Go! Zilla will automatically try to re-establish the connection. And it even resumes the file that was partially downloaded (though this ‘resume download’ facility depends on the parent server’s ability to support resumption – most do). If you have a particularly good bandwidth in terms of bps, you can configure Go! Zilla to download as many files simultaneously as you want. If your bandwidth is poor, you can opt for one download at a time, and queue the rest for automated download – it ’s entirely up to you! You can even configure Go! Zilla to automatically disconnect upon completion of downloads. It can also shut the whole computer down if you want it to. You can schedule downloads for particular times and dates – useful to catch off-peak or free hours. Another useful aspect is Leech. No not a blood sucking worm, but Go! Zilla’s ability to ‘leech’ or download all the files (or those you select) from a particular ftp site. A really useful aspect of Go! Zilla’s function is a summary window that appears just after you drag a link into Go! Zilla. This gives you a verdict on the server quality – whether it has a sluggish, poor, good, average, or excellent response time with respect to downloading. It means that, where you have a choice of servers, you can easily make a good decision as to which is the most effective site from which to download. Additionally, this window provides you with the name and type of file associated with your link. It’s annoying to follow a link to a movie file, or an mp3 file or an exe file, only to be confronted with another html (web) file. In dragging the links to Go! Zilla, you can instantly get an analysis on the linked file. If you’re after mp3’s, and find that the link is in html format, then you know you’ve got to probe a bit deeper to find the desired file. {This is notably important if you are downloading a few files in queue and have your Go! Zilla configured to disconnect or switch off after completing downloads. In this case study: if you want 3 mp3’s, but you have inadvertently dragged links that are to html files, with html files being very small, the 3 files that you THOUGHT were mp3’s will be download within seconds and then all of a sudden Go! Zilla will disconnect and threaten to switch off in 20 secs.} Go! Zilla produces partial download files on yo desktop – i dentifiable as they encompass the ‘eye’ logo of Go! Zilla. They may make a bit of a mess of yo desktop, but if you get the file you craved, then it’s worth it. The partial files become complete (i.e. the file and the designated icon of your download) upon successful completion of download. You can then put it wherever you want on your drive. (Go! Zilla finds it difficult to find partial downloads if placed anywhere but your desktop – so it’s better off leaving them there until downloadz complete – even if you desktop looks like a bloody mess). This app is downloadable FREE from the Go Zilla website, and is an absolute gem. The only downside is that the free version is shareware and has adverts built into it. You can’t escape them from the free ware version, and the ad’s update periodically, detracting from the downloads that you want (in terms of bandwidth and time taken for your downloads). You CAN purchase the full version, but, I’m sure most would gladly live with the ads to save the odd bob or ten. If you search hard enough, I’m sure you find registered versions at unscrupulous sites – if you do then luck for you. But any way, you can’t help but appreciate this app that has a valid and substantial use – it really DOES make LIFE EASIER. DON’t DOWNLOAD WITHOUT IT! For you closet mp3 downloaders, or even for people that occasionally download apps, utils, patches, or files of Virtually any kind, Go! Zilla is a must have. If it even saves you the hassle of starting a download from scratch ONCE, with the prices of phone calls today makes Go! Zilla worth the effort of getting!

                Advantages

                Disadvantages

I regularly download software from the Internet and have come to appreciate this product because of this. Here are the reasons why I recommend this product ,If your Internet connection disconnects/timeouts then you do not lose the download (you can restart it) this is great for those huge downloads (anybody thats downloaded Direct X or Paintshop PRo will know where I am coming from). I couldnt tell you how many times I lost a download before getting this. You can also set up integration with Netscape Navigator or Internet Explorer and this basically means if you click on a link to a file Gozilla will startup and then go through the process of downloading the file. Other great additions are the ability to display a little drop target (this looks like an icon on the screen) and using this you can drag files into gozilla rather than clicking on links independently. You can schedule your downloads so say during the nght when you arent surfing the program will connect to the Internet using your dialup connection and start downloading files that you have selected. You can also split your downloads into categories and one of my favourite features leech files , using this feature you can enter in an ftp site (or a web page) and this will show you all the files in it you can then select the files available you want to download (a real timesaver). The only problem I have encountered with this program is the occasional crash particularly if you lose your connection and are downloading software but this may be my operating system .

Does your ISP cut you off after an hour? Do you end up losing the whole of your download on 98% because of this? Is there anything you can do about it? Take 2 bottles into the shower? ( Oh no, sorry wrong advert ). The simple answer is yes there is something you do. Download Gozilla. Gozilla ( great name, not sure what is has to do with a download manager though ) does exactly what it says on the tin ( Oh no, not again ). It manages your downloads. When you click on a link to download a file Gozilla kicks in with an almighty roar ( which fortunately for your hearing can be turned off ). A list of download sites are then displayed together with an assessment of their speed of data transfer. A little icon by the side of the site tells you whether it supports the all important resume facility. When you have clicked on your selected site another screen comes up showing you whether the site supports resume, how far the download has progressed, what the transfer speed is, how long the transfer has left and what the estimated time of download is. It's that simple. Various other features are available within the Gozilla package such as a facility for zipping files ( a la Winzip ) but I tend to just stick to the rather excellent download manager. All in all, you don't get much for free these days and if anything free can save you from losing that all important file half way through download, it must be worth it.

GoZilla is a very handy download tool. Why is it so special? Well when you download any type of file, be it pictures, movies, text files, drivers or patches - whatever, it records the site so for larger files any cut-off during download will not result in you having to start afresh. Yes, you are right, there are other products like this available such as download accelerator. So what makes GoZilla better than the others? It allows you to Leech files of the type you specify. So you could go to your favourite celebs site and set Zilla of to work and it will retrieve all picture files, or movie buffs could set it to retrieve all text files when looking for film scripts, you could get animated videos, mp3’s and mp2’s. The possibilities are endless you are sure to find a use of your own for the Leech facility and everyone will find the download recovery handy. Only one more thing for me to tell you now and that is get on over to www.gozilla.com

I love Go!Zilla. I wouldn't download any other way. Not only does it speed downloads up, but it enables me to set up a queue of downloads so I can leave my computer on overnight and download a few files, but it also lets me resume downloading at another time, should the file be large and require multiple sessions, or should the connection be dropped. What's more, it's free. It's supported by ads at the top of the screen, which are very unobtrusive. Sometimes the software crashes, but that's forgivable as all software crashes from time to time. Usually it jumps up as soon as I start a download. You should install it now.
