Revenge, just opposite Brighton's famous Palace Pier, is the premier gay nightclub in Britain's most gay friendly town. However, there aint much to be proud about in this bland massive soulless venue. From the moment you step in past the savage looking doorstaff (who have been known to steal belongings from punters!) you can tell that this is a club who care for profit and not for the community that it should support. Door charges in excess of £6 for weekend entry combined with drinks prices fast approaching the £3.00 barrier - always a bad sign...there is little here to cheer about. The club is always busy at weekends, and is great for a group night out as there always seems to be loads of other groups on staff nights out, birthdays etc drunk fag hag secretaries are everywhere. This is the gay scene as mainstream as it gets - bland, massive and dead in the water. Bring me vitality, difference, progression don't bring me sweaty cruisy toilets filled with rent & despair. Music seems to be split between the 2 floors - downstairs: cheesy camp hi-nrg remixes upstairs: cheesy camp house remixes And that sadly is about it! Still, at least it is near enough some splendid mixed clubs that dont whiff of exploitation and degradation.
