Excalibur, is a great nightclub, some local people know it as The Cooperage. On weeknights there is a new feature of live bands playing, but on weekends the club is a true to form nightclub. Entry costs vary, but it is cheaper than most clubs in Newcastle, so expect to pay around £6. On Monday evenings, you have a choice of how much you pay. For example if you pay £1, you get £2 in drinks vouchers. £5 gets you £10 and so on. The music is a good mixture, as the DJ is open to any requests and seems to have a good selection of music, and to be honest there are not many clubs will play some of the music you hear in here and that is a big plus point for me, as you can get sick of hearing the same noise all night. The clientele are mixed ranging from late teens to early 30's and there is something for everyone. You can dance your feet off on the small dancefloor or have a chat and relax in a separate room with comfy seats. It isn't like being in the normal "meat market" nightclub where you are being eyed up at every turn, just go there, be yourself,do what pleases you and I guarantee you will have a top night out, and want to go there every week. The DJ is open to reasonable requests, however our recent request for The Wurzels was laughed at!! The drinks are reasonable and are a little cheaper than you would expect. The toilets were clean and there were plenty of them. The doorstaff were friendly. The dress code is smart but casual however jeans are allowed. You can also have a pre club drink in the bar below the club.
