Would make a great gift for an 18th present.

Last year I received these Hotel Chocolat 'Served Chilled Mojito' chocolates in a gift set from my sister for my birthday. The chocolates I tried didn't come in all this fancy packaging, but they did come packed in the set. They were in a simple plastic tray which had its own clear wrapper on and it contained information about the chocolates both on this packaging and on the back of the gift set. My first mistake was probably not to chill my chocolates, I simply ate them at room temperature. I can imagine this making a huge difference in their flavour, but I enjoyed them anyway. that said, I can't imagine eating the whole lot in one serving as they are very strong and rich. The refreshing cocktail of a Mojito is clearly present in these chocolates, with Mexican lime, white rum and mint giving it that authentic taste. I just ate two chocolates at a time, as they have a very distinct flavour, and for this I must knock one star off. I did enjoy them, but the problem is that the taste is very much an acquired one - not all my family enjoyed their taste. The aftertaste is very strong, and you wouldn't want to be eating too many of them as they are quite sickly in my opinion. The white chocolate is probably the reason for this. As say, the taste is very much an acquired one, and they won't be liked by everyone. If you like your chocolates boozy then these will certainly be the ones to warm you up! For something to enjoy in the sun they would work very well with a few cocktails (perhaps Mojito's!) but just make sure you chill them! They are available online and as I received them as a gift as part of a set I am unsure as to their price.

Would be great for a party or just as a little treat. Good value for the small boxes.

It's a chocolate mojito! Have all my dreams come true? This is part of Hotel Chocolat's new range of chocolate for the Summer, and makes up part of their Cocktail collection. You can buy the Mojito chocolates in packs of 4, 6, 8, or as part of the mixed selection boxes. A package of 6 cost £3.25 and was included in a special offer where if you buy three £3.25 items, you get them at the reduced cost of £2.75 each which is effectively saving you £1.50 on the total price. A mojito cocktail is made by mixing white rum, sugar, lime, sparkling water, and mint. It is a popular summer drink and a classic cocktail. These chocolates hope to reproduce that quality and they certainly are unique! As I bought the smaller packet, the packaging was different than is shown here. They were arranged in a simple plastic tray with a clear wrapper which allows you to see the chocolates. The packaging did not look very nice and did not catch my attention, but the chocolates themselves look fabulous. It is nice that you can see them all through the packaging as they are very attractive and look delicious. The chocolates are a traditional rounded shape with a flattened bottom to keep them in place in the box. They have a white chocolate shell that is decorated with simple lines of coloured piping. The colours used resemble the look of a mojito drink and I was desperate to try one (or six!). It is recommended that you chill them for at least an hour before serving to get the optimum taste from the product. I did as advised and I think it had an amazing effect. The white chocolate shell almost disappears as you bite into it, it is crisp and sweet but as soon as you have reached the centre of the chocolate the taste is completely overwhelmed with the filling. It almost doesn't taste like chocolate any more as the sweetness is gone and is replaced by a sharp and fresh taste which is remarkably true to what I was expecting. Real mint and white rum are used and you can really taste the flavours, especially the mint which initially stands out, and then you get a strong flavour of alcohol as it starts to melt inside your mouth. I have really never had anything quite like it, the way it transformed from a sweet ordinary looking chocolate to an almost liquid centre was stunning. They tasted really good after being chilled as well, the senses are heightened and each of the flavours really stands out and shocks your mouth. These were not the sweet treat I was expecting but are a fantastic gift for anyone who likes this sort of cocktail, or for people who like gourmet treats but don't have a sweet tooth for ordinary chocolates. They are a unique product and I am very impressed! Vegetarian, nut-free, gluten-free, egg-free, contains alcohol.
