Recommended for those who like strong liquor, cherries and chocolate!

I normally buy Marks & Spencer's cherry liquor chocolates, and I have a cherry obsession somewhat, so when I saw these in the airport's duty free, I thought I'd give them a try, as they are made by the respectable brand Ferrerro. I bought a large box, and the packaging was really nice and posh looking, and each chocolate is individually wrapped. The chocolates are neither big not too small for your mouth, and they each have a single whole cherry inside with a rich brandy. These chocolates are much stronger than the Marks and Spencer version, so depending on your taste you might prefer these. My husband, however, can't stand these and found them too strong! (surprising, as he drinks stronger stuff than me usually!). I also found them a little strong initially and thought I preferred the M&S version, but when I tried the M&S ones again after having Mon Cheri, I found the Mon Cheri chocolates to actually be of a better quality. I felt that you were more aware that there was a whole cherry inside, and that there was a richer taste. In future I might buy a box which has a selection of Mon Cheri and other Ferrerro items, as personally I found it a little monotonous having a whole box full of the same chocolates.

simply the best adult sweet for a christmas treat

Mon cheri cherry brandy liquer chocolates are a must on our christmas list.
Not that hard to find if you know where to look and I have found places like Wilkinsons, Woolworths, BHS have usually got some in stock and some quirky little gift shops too.

These little delights come in a red coloured box as you can probably see prom the picture supplied with the cherry on a stalk and the words Mon Cheri in gold lettering. The contents inside are dome shaped chocolates with fork strations across the top
They are made from dark chocolate and have real brandy inside with a whole cherry which I think is a marachino cherry. The best in my view.

Pop one of these little chocolate bombs into your mouth and let it explode on your tongue and you instantly get the cherry brandy flavour, then the cherry is sweet but not too much mixes well with whats left of the brandy and the chocolate outer. MMMM.
Dark bitter chocolate is needed with this sweet as I feel it would have been too sickly with any other kind.

Very nice treat for the adults at christmas if you can keep them to yourselves.
      very morish.

        Well worth tracking down

The Ferroro people are far more well known for making certain gold-wrapped chocolates that you might find at the Ambassador's reception than they are for Mon Cheri, especially in the UK. For some reason, I've stumbled across these a lot more in Europe - places like Spain and Switzerland - than I have over here. That's a shame, because they're lovely chocolates.

These are chocolate liquors at their finest. Bite into the plain chocolate, and inside you'll find cherry brandy, and one whole and delicious cherry (but without the stone). It can be quite messy eating these, unless you're careful, or unless you stick the whole chocolate in your mouth at once. Try to avoid spilling sticky brandy everywhere.

This shouldn't need saying, but they do contain actual alcohol, so keep them away from kids. I'm not sure what the alcohol content is, but I doubt you'll get drunk on one or two. A full box of fifteen in one go however may be a different matter.

As I said, they can be quite hard to find in the UK. If desperate though, you can usually hunt down a box on eBay for around £6 including postage. Not cheap, but worth it.
