“ Brand: Walkabout / Safety Type: Baby Monitors „
I bought this item second hand as my first monitor broke, and I wish I had just used this one from the start!! There are two parts to this monitor as with most, one for the nursery and one for the parent. The base that is situated in the nursery, or wherever your child may be, is one solid unit, it plugs into a mains socket. When this base is on a small lcd disply will show the temperature of the nursery, underneath this display is a small lcd light, when this light is constant it means the unit is on and the temperature in the room is fine. If the light is flashing this means that the temperature has either dropped to low or is too hot, to confirm which you need to look at the lcd display where it will either display the temperature in degrees or say "low" or "high" if it has reached a critical level. On the top of this unit is a green button which when depressed turns on the night light function. On the side is a switch to change the channel of the monitor from A to B. This is helpful if you find one channel picks up interference. The second unit is the parents. This has two parts to it, a base and a detachable clip on device for you to carry around if you are busy in lots of rooms! Again like the first unit, this one plugs into a mains socket. It also has an lcd display which recieves the temperature of the nursery from the first unit, again this is displayed in degrees. It has the same lcd light underneath the display, and works exactly the same if the temperature upstairs reaches a critical level. The only extra function of this lcd light is that if you are using the detachable walkabout unit and the battery is running low the alarm and light will go off to alert you that it needs to go back on the base. On the top of the base the green button turns on the light moving function, this helps parents have a visual aid of when their child has woken, it works like a rev meter on a car, the more revs (childs noise) the more the pin (lights) move up. The walkabout unit is recharged cwhen it is placed back on the main base. There is again a switch on the side to change the channel, but make sure you change both monitors to the same channel! You can open the back of the detachable unit and turn the sound alarm off and the flashing light alarm will still function as normal. The range of the monitor is approx 100meters although I have never gone this far! Like I said at the beggining, the first monitor I had broke, and it was apparently one of the best on the market, all the flash functions etc, it was a nightmare to use and I felt like I needed a degree just to turn it on, when I bought this second hand one, it was like a breath of fresh air after being suffocated by smoke!! I will be reviewing the first of course!!
The Walkabout Premier Digital offers parents the ultimate combination of features - sound and temperature monitoring, mini-portability and rechargeability.
