Now as my youngest grandson was fast approaching 15 months old, he is only just getting to grips with the idea of standing and trying to walk on his own. Which to be honest is a bit of a blessing in disguise as he is hard enough to keep up with when he is crawling ( must be the old age creeping in!!). So I decided to start looking around for some reins for him, now my daughter had already been and bought him a pair of the Lindam traditional type reins, but I was looking for something different. I'm not a great fan of these backpack things that I've seen some toddlers walking around with, which look like they could topple backwards at the slightest touch as they are so big on their little backs. Then I spotted this Batman Safetly Harness, they looked really cute and fun too. The reviews where very good and the price was pretty decent to at only £4.43 ( I see that they are now £4.40) with free delivery. So I ordered a pair. These turned up pretty quick, as I was a bit unsure about the company as I like to buy direct from Amazon and not use the marketplace, but babyworld was very good. Anyway a couple of days later they turned up, these reins don't come in any fancy packaging just a clear plastic bag, which I suppose is very eco friendly thinking back now. If I'm really honest with you I will say that I was a bit dissappointed in what I saw, as they just looked so small and I thought they are never going to fit him. When adjusting the straps and main rein they then seemed more child friendly. This rein consists of two straps that go over the shoulders which swivel to stop tangling up and connect to a strap that comes across the front of the chest area which clips together, this item is described online as "Patented design is fully supported by your child's torso, not the sensitive lower stomach area" and "Sliding torso strap keeps harness in the correct position". Well I have used lots of reins over the years, but have never been aware of any that went on the lower stomach area!!! The rein material itself feels very strong and comes in black, it is also machine washable (which is good for when the ice creams drips down their face onto the reins!) they are also adjustable which is handy as every baby is a different size. They go from 14" to 25.5" and the rein strap is 32", which I've read is quite long and good if you happen to be tall, which I am. Now on the back there is a small grey pouch that has a zip so is perfect for a spare dummy maybe. With black Batman wings, the material is very soft, almost like a brushed cotton. The rein strap is attached to a "D" ring inbetween the wings. I tried these on my grandson and he loved them, it actually helped him to walk on his own better as he knew that I was there beside him without holding his hands and he was safe. We now use these on a regular basis and get quite a few comments on how cute he looks with them on (I'm now looking for a batman suit for him to wear!!) I would recommend these if you are looking for something different then these are really worth trying, they also do a Ladybird version for little girls to wear.
