My little boy got the leappad 2 for his 4th birthday last March so I brought a few accessories to go with it (charger, carry case and this gel skin).....word of warning....make sure you buy the correct gel skin! I wasted £8 by buying the gel skin for the leappad1 which didnt fit correctly. Luckily I saw the gel skin for the leappad2 half price in sainsburys from £7 to £3.50 so picked 1 up. Im still surprised to see the gel skin for the number 2 double price of the gel skin 1 considering the leappad1 isnt even made or sold anymore!
The gel just fits over the back and the side of the console allowing the screen to be free. It fits very well and we havent had any problems with it fitting at all. It stays securely on the leappad2 while still allowing access to all the ports on the games console itself.
Because of the gel its made from it means it isnt slippery so your child can get a good grip when holding the console.
it protects the back and the side from scratches, but does it actually protect the console......NO! My little boy accidentally dropped the console and the screen then had a line going down it so the console had to be returned for a replacement.
I would have paid more money for something that actually does the job. Looks smart on the console but doesnt actually do the job.
I bought my daughter a LeapPad 2 last christmas. I was consious that she may drop it and it may get dropped by her so I purchased this gel skin at the same time. I bought it in John Lewis where it cost me £8. I have since seen it on Amazon for £3.49.
The gel skin comes in two colours to match the LeapPad you can get green or purple. I chose the purple one to match the colour of the LeapPad.
The gel skin has a cardboard insert wrapped around it when it is new. I took this off and put it on the LeapPad just before Christmas when I set it up.
The gel skin is purple with a glittery hue to it and flecks of glitter inside the case. It feels flexible however when I tried to apply it I had an absolute nightmare, I just couldn't get it on the LeapPad. I have similar cases on my own tablet and my phone and I have never come across such a stiff case.
When I did eventually get the case on I found that it didn't fit as well as it should have, there are cut outs on the case for the stylus and the heaphone socket etc however the cut out for the stylus made it incredibly difficult to actually get the stylus out of the LeapPad.
I left the case on for Christmas day and my daughter couldn't get the stylus out either, this left her frustrated. We have rechargeable batteries for the LeapPad and these need changing every couple of days, the case was near impossible to get off, I really struggled with it and because it needs to be removed to change the batteries frequently I gave up.
I ended up throwing the case in the bin.
Overall this isn't worth the money, in principle it looks good a nice jelly like skin with cut outs for access to all of the functions. It looked like itwould protect the LeapPad against scuff and knocks. Unfortunately it was ill fitting and a nightmare to take on and off.
1 star from me, the only good thing about this is the nice colour!
