The TV advert for this product shows a cat prepared to run straight through a wall in order to get at these cat treats, and that image is not far from the truth. Our cat absolutely loves them, and we can guarante that wherever he is hiding himself, whethr he is in the neighbouring gardens, or fast asleep on the bed upstairs, just a couple of shakes of one of these packets will bring him running (very useful when you need to give him his fea treatment etc). He even know which drawer the treats are kept in and gets very excited and upset if we happen to go in that drawer for something else, and dont give him one of his treats. So far we have tried every flavour except the cheese, and each of them has the same effect. The come in a neat resealable bag and so far we have had packet open for at least six months which havent seemed to lose their smell or flavour. We normally pay 1 pounds for a packet I would highly recommend them, if jus purely as a way of finding your cat when he/she is hiding.
Dreamies are a range of treats for cats and kittens manufactured by Mars. They come in a variety of flavours including turkey, cheese or tuna. I was personally drawn to the bright pink packaging and when I saw that it was my cat's favourite flavour, beef I had to pick it up. Each pack contains 60g, which is over 30 servings based on 8 pieces per serving. You can feed your cat up to 20 pieces per day. The treats inside are little brown rectangular biscuits which are described as crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, I'll take their word for it being soft on the inside as I don't fancy biting into one myself. The small size of the treats make them easy for small kittens to eat and I have found them great when used during play, what better surprise for your kitty than to crawl in their tunnel and find a treat. My cat is still nibbling my hand when I try to brush him (something I'm hoping is down to teething) but a couple of dreamies when brushing and a couple more when it's done seems to make the process much easier for both of us! My cat loves these and really does as it describes in the pack "shake the pouch and watch your cat come running" it's really nice to see the excitement and enjoyment they get from them. If the cat isn't in the room I like to hide A few around the room and as soon as he enters the room he can smell them and loves hunting them out. As they are a treat I only get them out every 2 or 3 days and wouldn't use as many as the 20 a day as I don't want him to "expect" treats or get used to having them (I don't think they would seem such a treat then). A packet lasts ages and keep for 4 weeks once opened. The packet is also resealable which is handy as they stay fresh and dont spill all over the place. The packets have a shelf life of over a year so you can stock up when they are on offer. They retail for around £1 a packet, which I think is good value for treats which are going to last 3 or 4 weeks and will make your kitty very happy. Dreamies have received some mixed opinions so its worth mentioning why. They do contain additives, some claim that the additives can lead to serious health problems and many claim their cats are addicted to dreamies. I personally wouldn't let it put me off, if I took notice of all the articles I read me and my cat would both be extremely hungry. I think, like our own diets, a treat now and again is nice although not too healthy. All personal choice but in my opinion I would probably buy these again, my cat loves these but he also loves other treats so I would not necessarily go straight for these each time. I'm sure my cat hasn't seen the last of his dreamies. He deserves them, in moderation!!
Dreamies - Tempting Beef We adopted our cat Merlin three weeks ago and are adjusting to life with a new cat in the house. He is such a lovely little cat, very friendly and loving and has recently been let into the outside world for the first time. I never knew having a cat held the same feelings as having a child - I was a nervous wreck, and when he didn't return for over 24 hours, I was starting to get worried that he had got lost (or worse though that did not bare thinking about!). As a new cat mum, I had gone out and bought many different bits and pieces from equipment to food, and one item in particular was a pack of cat treats; Dreamies in tempting beef flavour. To be honest, it was always going to be hit and miss with our new cat as we did not have much to go on with what he liked with regards to food, though the pet shop had these reduced from £1.55 to £1.00 so I figured that even if he did not like them, it would not break the bank! This particular range of treats come in a few different flavours each with a differing colour packaging. The beef ones come in a bold pink sachet about the size of my hand (although I am not sure why pink and beef supposedly go together!). I am not entirely sure whether cats are overly worried about what the packaging looks like, though for ease of finding on the shelves for us humans, not only is it bright pink but also has a funny fat cartoon cat lying on its back with an image of the treats above (not actual size). The top of the pack has a clip closed easily resealable edging to keep the treats fresh. The bag is a 60 gram bag with 30 plus servings inside. I am not sure how they measure a serving, though I would have guessed a serving would be one treat at a time as that is what we give Merlin, though there are a lot more than thirty in this small bag! As you can see, I am still very much a newbie when it comes to cats! The treats themselves are tiny, square and brown. They have a rough outside which crunches when the cats eat them which I have been told is good for their teeth. It does not take much to break the treat open, though, and inside you will find a soft part. Each treat is only 2 calories as well, which I would imagine to be good for cats treats. The composition of these treats are as follows; Vegetable protein extracts, cereals, meat and animal derivatives (min. 4% beef), oils and fats, minerals. These treats are absolutely fine for both kittens and cats. I do admit that in the past I have tried a cat biscuit (the things you do when you are young and innocent!), though I have no urge to try one again! In any case, it is what my cat thinks of them that is the main thing, and although Merlin obviously can not talk, I can tell he loves them. The reason I mentioned about Merlin getting lost at the beginning of this review is because we used these treats to help find him. He had already fallen for the taste of these treats, and has got to the point of running up to us every time we simply pick up the pack, and so we shook them when hunting for him and when we were in his hearing range, he ran straight to us - crisis averted by Dreamies! I also mentioned that he is a very loving and calm cat, though he gets very excited when eating these treats and is always wanting more! It is weird as he does not seem to like beef cat food, though I suppose he is like a child in many ways - a treat is a treat and there is always room for a treat! We have not yet tried any other flavoured Dreamies treat with Merlin yet so can not compare, though I am sure we will do soon enough, though at the moment, Merlin is happy just to have these ones, and that makes me happy as it means I always have a way to bribe him to come home again! In case you are wondering, Merlin has been out a couple more times now and has now managed to be able to locate home without our help! A five star rating from the cat!
When it comes to my lovely kitten Myrtle money really isn't objective. She is my best mate and my heart and I believe in putting pets first! Because of this whenever I am in a supermarket I find myself browsing at stuff for her and buying her plenty and knowing her love of Dreamies this was a flavour I recently bought her as I had never seen them before! The Packaging: These Dreamies came in a bright pink plastic on the outside, silver foil on the inside and with a plastic zip action style seam to the top of the bag to do it up and close it to keep the biscuits fresh then on the front of the bag there a picture of a cat shown on there and we are told that they are Dreamies and the flavour which is beef of course is stated and that they are 'The Treats That Cats Crave' and there is a photograph of a broken up in half biscuit and we are told that they are crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside and that the bag weighs 60g and a bag this size contains 30+ servings (these are available in other sizes and flavours too of course). On the back of the bag other information listed includes being told a bit about the product, the ingredients they contain, nutritional advice and feeding advice is all given and contact details for the manufacturer are listed of course. Nice enough bag this is and it is informative enough and I do like the fact that it is simple to open and close the bag as I hate spillage and a mess created everywhere! The Treats: These are basically small puffed up squares of treats for kittens/cats. They are a brown in colour and made up of cereals and meat and fish derivatives with 4% of that made of actual beef. They are a handy size for my Myrtle to grab hold on and she absolutely loves them and so do I knowing that they only contain 2 calories per treat and me having to watch what she is eating as she is very prone to weight gain gives me peace of mind too. I can give her up to 20 of these a day.....she could well eat more of these but I try to get away with only giving about 10 of them in one sitting/per day but she loves them so much she don't half moan at me and makes me feel guilty but I stick to my guns cos I have to! These are crunchy sounding, all the bits gets sucked up and she begs for more. I think they are a great quality and snack for my cat, she certainly seems to like them anyway and they are the brand that I tend to buy very often indeed! Available in all good supermarkets and pet shops but do look about as they are more often than not on offer at about a pound a bag than their recommended price tag of about £1.25 and they are available in a variety of flavours too! This review is also posted on Ciao under this same username.
When I do my shopping I usually buy my cats a packet of treats, they are a bit spoilt but they do love the Whiskas treats so I usually buy them a packet, however recently when I was doing my weekly shop I noticed that the Dreamies cat treats were on offer, I had never tried these on my girls before so I decided to give them a go, cats are fussy little creatures but if they didn't like them then I hadn't wasted too much money. Packaging The Dreamies treats come in a bright pink plastic packet, there is a picture of a cat laying at the bottom of the packet with a cloud above its head and the word Dreamies written in it in bright pink lettering, there is also a picture of one of the treats cut in half with arrows pointing to it describing what its like both inside and out, the flavour of the treats is written at the top of the packet and is also illustrated with a picture. One the back of the packet is the name and flavour of the treats repeated as well as the product information, this includes the feeding instructions, composition and the ingredients. There is a small tear in one side of the packet which allows you to rip the top of the packet, the packet is re-seal able with a small plastic strip just inside the top. The packaging is nothing fancy and similar to that of other cat treats, however it is bright and colourful and really stands out, the reseal able pack is also handy as it means treats are not spilt and wasted. The Treats We purchased the Beef flavoured Dreamies, these are basically small dark brown squares, they look similar to regular cat crunchies that we have brought the girls in the past, the treats have a crunchy outside with a soft centre, I was expecting the Dreamies treats to be a bit bigger than what they were, however this didn't matter as you do get a lot of treats per packet. When I opened the pack of Dreamies you could really smell that they were beef flavoured, luckily this was only present when the packet it was open you couldn't smell it when the packet was sealed so luckily my kitchen didn't smell of beef cat treats. The packet states that each treat contains just 2 calories, I was quite surprised to see this as this sort of information isn't usually available on the packets, however I was pleased to see that as far as treats go they are reasonably healthy and low in calories for my girls, these treats are also said to be suitable for both cats and kittens. Composition The composition of the Dreamies Beef flavoured cat treats is clearly labelled on the back of the packet and consists of * Vegetable protein extracts * Cereals * Meat and animal Derivatives (min 4% beef) * Oils * Fats * Minerals The additives and analytical constituents is also listed, however this consists of a long complicated list of ingredients which is far to long for me to list, however it is there and clearly set out should you require the information. Price and Availability Dreamies Beef Treats are available in most supermarkets as well as a variety of pet shops, I personally purchased my packet from our local Tesco. The 60g packet is sold for just £1.25, I actually got mine for just £1.00 as they were and still are currently on offer. I personally feel these are excellent value for money as you really do get a lot of treats per bag, as I have mentioned the treats are a little smaller than the regular Whiskas brand I purchase but you do get more treats per packet making them worth the money. My Opinion I personally have been extremely pleased with the Dreamies Beef treats, if anything I think they actually last a bit longer than other varieties I have purchased in the past and are sold at around the same price meaning they are good value for money. I did wonder whether my girls would like these as they can be fussy with their food, however I didn't need to worry they loved them and couldn't get enough, knowing the calorie content is handy as I know exactly what I am giving my cats, whilst treats aren't the healthiest thing for your cat they do like something a bit different, I also find a packet of treats is handy for getting them in at nights. I would definitely recommend the Dreamies Beef treats as they are cheap to buy, long lasting and most importantly cats do really seem to love them. I will definitely purchase these for my cats again in the future and whilst on offer have been stocking up on the Dreamies brand.
Dreamies are the snack of your cat's dreams - all cats salivate over crispy Dreamies with their tasty creamy filling available in a variety of delicious flavours!
