I purchased this item back in September 2005, and to this day it's been fantastic (although it has changed cars 3 times)
When the unit is closed, it looks like a normal CD player, and dosn't even have a LCD display, which is great as an anti-theft target.
The magic starts when you put the ignition on, and the automatic rotating screen opens up before you. Displaying a touch screen TFT display.
Buttons / Menu:
There are a lot buttons on the front of the unit, including volume, channel, menu, eject, play, pause, Traffic announcement etc.
Within the on screen menu, there are several options available to choose and ammend including sound quality and possitioning, screen brightness, possition of the automatic arm (decide what angle to have the screen display) and standard options such as date / time and language.
All menus can be accessed and controlled using the touch screen, which looks and feels fantastic.
There are 2 colour options available for the buttons on the unit, Green or Red, these options can be picked within the menu too.
This is the best function any in car DVD player could have, a touch screen display. The ability to choose your tracks simply by scrolling through your folders, and selecting it by pressing it on screen.
CDs / DVDs:
Well, this unit will play any region 2 DVD, and any CD (CD, CD-R and CD-RW) I tend to use CD-R and create a juke box CD (allowing me to add 150+ songs to one CD, and having them displayed on the screen like PC folder.
The front facia can be removed, and comes with a small pouch to put in. When the facia is removed, the Pioneer + DVD logo is removed, meaning to a potential theif there isn't a branded DVD player in your car.
Yes, this DVD player does also come with a remote control, which to be honest is great, but you'll never need it when you or your front passenger would rather use the touch screen function.
This unit can act as a DVD player, a CD player or a radio. There are also optional add-ons allowing you to watch TV too.
You would probably expect sound quality to be down to your speakers? Well, your half right. You will hear a massive difference in quality from this player compared with any standard in car CD player.
It is illegal for the driver of any vehicle to watch a dvd while the car isn't stationary.
