      Wish we bought one earlier!

I believe this machine has now been superseded as when I went to look for this model I could not find it anywhere on the internet. The reason I wanted to find it is that friends of ours have this model and they made some bread in it when we went to stay for a couple of days between Xmas and New Year. Having previously had two bread makers, both cheap ones, the quality of the bread from the Panasonic was no comparison. The bread is so soft and light and so gorgeous to eat, I defy you not to enjoy it or be so impressed that you want one. The experience promoted us to buy the SD2500 and this arrived on Friday, superb service from Hughes Direct and at a price of £84.99 which seemed to be the cheapest I could find it for. The results of the first loaf are fantastic, just like what we experienced at our friends! So much so the loaf went very quickly. Makes wonderful toast too! Quite a compact model too, my wife was surprised how small it was but do not let that fool you, don't hesitate, ditch the rest get a Panasonic today! We are converted!

If you want to wake up to the smell of bread in the morning, then get one of these!

I have been moaning (a lot, apparently) about the cost of everyday food recently - so to my suprise, a friend bought me a bread maker.

I thought that bread makers were for retired people who had a lot of time on their hands, and had the life experience/knowledge to make decent bread, but to my amazement I have been able to produce quite a decent 'loaf' from this, with very little effort. I even added some fruit to my last effort, and again was pleased with the result.

It comes with three different sizes of bread pan, though I have mainly used the large pan as my daughter likes feeding the ducks with any leftovers and it is still a lot cheaper (as well as tastier) than buying supermarket bread. The two other sizes do give you the option though. The overall size is not too large (H37 x W28 x D33cm) so it fits under cabinets quite easily.

Speed wise, there are nine different settings, including a rapid bake, which I've only used once, but was satisfied with the outcome. It also has the usual timer option, so you can set it to work, even when you're asleep - I sleep above our kitchen and heard nothing, so that's a good thing too.

I have had no problems with my bread sticking to the tin, unlike my mother, who is constantly complaining that her (different brand) maker suffers in that regard. Aparently (if you read the specification) it has a kneading blade that is coated with diamond particles - which obviously helps, along with the non-stick pan itself which is unique to Panasonic

I did find the jam maker a little confusing at first - my jam was more like sugar water the first few times, but (when I read the manual) it all became clearer. In fact, the instruction manual does deserve a mention, because it also contains several useful recipes/ideas.

It is a little bit more expensive than some bread makers, but I have found that panasonic goods (in general) tend to last longer, but givien I've only had this for a month or so, I cannot really comment on it's durability.

All in all then, as far as a bread maker is concerned, this seems to be a good one - I think my mum is looking for offers on one as I type this having proclaimed 'this is a far nicer loaf than the ones I produce' - I, of course, claimed it was all in the recipe...
