I am always buying facial wipes as a shortcut to cleansing my skin. I do buy bottles of cleanser and toner and know it's good for your skin to stick to a proper cleansing routine, but it is very tempting when you're in a hurry in the morning, or when you're tired at night, just to reach for facial wipes instead. I don't tend to pay a lot of money for facial wipes - there are some pretty expensive brands on the market, but in my experience the cheaper brands do the job well enough for me.
I picked up Tesco Cucumber Cleansing Wipes last time I was shopping there. These come in a pack of 25 for 1GBP, so definitely not a premium product! As with most facial wipes, the plastic pack has a re-sealable strip to keep the wipes fresh, and I haven't had any problem with these drying out.
These cucumber wipes are fairly soft and slightly textured, which I find is the best kind of wipe for cleansing my face. I have had some brands which have been a bit too smooth and have slid around my face when I try to wipe my skin, but these do a decent job. The wipes have a gentle fragrance which has more of a hint of cucumber rather than a definite cucumber smell.
Ingredients-wise, these seem to have a couple of natural extracts in them (Aloe and Cucumber) as well as being enriched with Vitamin E. Those ingredients aside, I'm afraid the list is quite chemical-sounding, which is not surprising for a pack of standard, inexpensive wipes.
Although facial wipes are not intended specifically for removing make-up, I find that these do a reasonable job of taking make-up off. I wouldn't rub the wipes too closely around my eyes, as the pack says to avoid contact with the eyes, but then I have found that even products that are intended to remove make-up can sting the eyes.
I have found Tesco Cucumber Cleansing Wipes to be reasonable, budget wipes. They don't dry out too quickly, have a decent distribution of moisture on the wipes and are a good enough texture to make the skin feel like it is being properly cleansed.
==Price and Availability==
I usually buy face wipes on offer as I'm not particularly brand loyal and pick up a pack whenever I'm in Wilko's or Home Bargains meaning that I usually have a few packets in the bathroom cupboard. Last month I ran out of wipes completely and decided to pick some up with my weekly shop from Tesco. There weren't any wipes I'd used before on a decent offer and everything was a little over priced so I decided to buy a pack or Tesco Cucumber Facial Wipes which cost just over £1.
==Tesco Cucumber Facial Wipes==
The wipes packaging has a simple but modern green and white theme, it's the usual plastic packet with a sticker to keep the wipes moist. Unfortunately, I found that the sticker on the top of the pack lost its stickiness really quickly, the wipes didn't dry out noticeable though but I was using at least one wipe a day so they didn't really get chance to. These wipes contain Vitamin E to hydrate the skin whilst cleansing and removing make up.
Opening the packet there's a lovely clean and fresh scent to these wipes, it's not particular a cucumber scent just very fresh and quite summery. The wipes are a good size but are quite thin but there's still a nice softness to them. The wipes are very cooling and refreshing, I used them around November time so didn't get the full effect but I think I would probably pick up another pack to have in the fridge over summer for cooling me down on hot days. As these wipes are so refreshing they do make my face feel really clean and I find them quite hydrating too although I don't notice any long term improvement in my skin from using them. These wipes are good at removing light make up, I find them fine for foundation but if I'm wearing eye makeup these wipes struggle to remove it. I used these wipes a few times to remove mascara before going to bed and every time I still woke up with dark circles from left over mascara.
Although these wipes are really refreshing with a lovely clean and fresh scent, for removing make up they aren't up to much, if you just wear foundation then they're fine but beyond that they don't do a proper job. I probably will buy them again as they are a lovely fresh wipe for summer months and they're really only quite cheap but I won't be using them on a daily basis.
~+~ Tesco cucumber cleansing wipes ~+~
Apart from a two-year time frame when I was in my early 20s, have never been particularly interested in wearing a lot of make-up during my adult years. Nowadays I'm most often found with a dash of lipstick (MAC, if you're wondering) and a splash of cover-up for my blotches. Several times a month I'll endeavour to wear foundation; I wear eyeliner and mascara even less often.
My Mum clearly recalled a conversation we had when we discussed make-up, my dislike of old style "cold cream" make-up removers and my preference for simple soap and water, as she gave this to me as one of my stocking-filler Christmas presents just over a year ago.

This resealable pack of 25 facial cleaning wipes reminds me of the baby wipes I used on my daughter. The writing and information on the packet is clearly communicated in a simple style. There is a fair amount of detail on the back, providing information about ingredients, testing and disposal. There are a lot of ingredients, including cucumber and vitamin E.
The plastic packet is easy enough to open by peeling off a small cellophane-like plastic part of the top of the pack. This material should be kept as it is effectively a sealing lid for the packet. I should emphasis at this time that the long the packet is left unsealed, the drier the contents will become. The wipes are folded in a manner that means they can be removed one by one; that is, there is no fear that on taking one wipe out the remainder will follow.
Once opened, there is a noticeable scent.....what I describe as "the smell of gentle cleanliness". ie I don't really have a clue what it is or how to describe it, only that it is a pleasant aroma. I prefer this scent to one that is powerful or off-putting.
These white wipes themselves are approximately 12cm in size. They do not have any discernable pattern, and although very soft to touch they actually feel quite thin in my opinion.

These wipes feel very soft, cool and moist on my face. I do get the impression that they could dry out very quickly. I am pleased that the wipes are not manufactured in a way that means they are dripping with some kind of removing solution, however at the other extreme I feel they are almost too dry for my needs.
I use these wipes in several situations: after a night out when I need more than simple water to clean my face, after a long day at work or many hours in the garden, and finally as a pick-me-up when I'm flying across the Atlantic.
These cucumber wipes do feel refreshing so certainly serve the purpose for two of my uses. However when it comes to removing a full face of make-up after a night out, I do still need to use other products.

I am undecided about this product. At less than one pound in price, it is a useful item to have. That said, I can certainly live without it.
I was out of my normal Boots cucumber facial wipes and so on a trip to Tesco decided to try their own brand instead because Ididn't think there would be too much of a difference between the Boots ones and the Tesco ones but there is a bit of a difference and I now stick with the Boots variety. Thats not to say that these wipes are bad, no, they are ok but not as good as the Boots ones in my opinion.
The wipes comes in a pack of 25 and only cost £1.04 which I think is extremely good value, however, I find these wipes from Tesco fairly thin and I have to use 2 or more to really feel like my face is clean. In that way the wipes are a bit of a false economy as even though they are cheaper you are using more than you would of a slightly more exoensive, better quality wipe so there is a difference. I like a bit more of a thicker wipe as I feel like I can get my make up off all in one go that way. However, having said that after a couple wipes I feel like my face is clean which is nice.
The wipes have a nice cucumber scent to them although its a bit subtle and I would like a bit stronger of a fragrance as the cucumber smell is one of my favourite when it comes to beauty products and because its such a delicate, fresh scent I like it to be quite bold. Thenwipes contain vitamin E which is great for making skin really soft and for protecting it too but again I would say that there is not enough in these wipes to really make you feel like you have toned and cleansed your skin properly like the feeling you get with other wipes.
In conclusion, these wipes are ok and good if you just want a quick pack and have run out of another brand but I think overall for superior cleaner and for a bit more of a treat for your skin, you should stick to other brands. Sent from Samsung tablet
Since becoming a mum, I have less time for things like a skin care regime. Therefore, time saving products such as face wipes feature heavily in my skin care routine these days. This means I can remove my make up and any dirt or grime from the day with a quick wipe rather than having to cleanse and tone. I tend to but whichever wipes I can find on a decent offer or, if none are on offer, own brand wipes. Most recently, there were none on offer at Tesco, so I added a couple of packets of these cucumber wipes to my online shopping basket when doing my weekly shop. These cost me 99p for a packet of 25 wipes.
The wipes come in a basic white plastic packet with basic labelling on the front in green and black. This also acts, as is usual for these wipes, as a resealable sticky patch that can be opened to remove the wipes and pressed to close - which keeps the wipes moist. The wipes contain cucumber extract and have added vitamin E - which is an antioxidant that protects and repairs your skin.
The wipes inside are a little smaller and thinner than other such wipes I have used. They are still a decent size and strength though - they are more than adequate enough to meet my needs and strong enough so that, no matter how vigorously I rub, they remain in one piece. They do not smell at all, which doesn't bother me as I don't see the need for such skincare products to be fragranced. They feel very moist to the touch though. I use them to fully wipe my face and neck at the end of the day - primarily to remove makeup. I usually use a face wash afterwards to feel completely clean. The wipe does a good job at removing make up - I can see a lot of it on the wipe immediately after use, even waterproof mascara which it removes quite well but it does require a little more pressure and rubbing. My skin can be sensitive and these do not irritate it at all, they feel fairly soft and gentle on my skin but do leave it feeling a little dry after use. This is not a particular problem for me as I always moisturise after removing my make up anyway.
I would say these wipes are noticeably more basic in terms of quality than branded wipes but they do a decent job. For the price, they are definitely good value and I would recommend to anyone on a budget.
===Time For A Little Experiment===
I'm quite new to facial wipes. For many years I've opted to use cleansing milk, believing that this was best for my rather dry, mature skin. I hadn't even thought about buying any when I started reading reviews on sites like this one, but I think I must have been subconsciously influenced by them. Perhaps this is how I came to notice one day that Tesco had a '3 for 2' offer on their cucumber wipes. Something clicked in my brain that other reviewers had rated these quite highly, so on a whim I decided to give them a go. I don't remember how much the special offer came to, but I did notice the other day that the current price was £0.99, so they're not going to break the bank - but are they any good?
===Packaging, Presentation and Information===
The packaging and presentation of these wipes is simple and uncluttered. They come in a white plastic wrapper. On the front we're informed that there are 25 in the pack, that they're Tesco cleansing facial wipes and they have cucumber extract and vitamin E. They are supposed to be suitable for all skin types.
The reverse gives more detailed information - the ingredients, of course, of which I can pick out words like parfum, aloe, alcohol, citric acid, castor oil, glycerine and cucumber; these are a little more comprehensible to me than with many cosmetic products and give me some confidence that they contain the things they claim to - not something I can always say. It's good to read that they haven't been tested on animals and Tesco say that they actually fund research into alternatives. I assume this means alternative means of testing. Apparently the wipes have been enriched with 'soothing cucumber and aloe vera'. This leaves me wondering whether the vitamin E mentioned on the front is contained in aloe vera. I feel I should know the answer to this, but I don't. They have been formulated in such a way that they will gently remove 'makeup, including waterproof makeup, and cleanse, tone and moisturise without upsetting the skin's balance'.
In text and in diagrams it's made clear that the wipes are not flushable down the loo. Other than that it's the usual stuff: dispose of in a bin; keep out of children's reach, only for external use - would you try to eat one of these? Oh, yes, and instructions to use within 3 months of opening. I must be getting quite close to that cut-off point and I have quite a few left. I don't really think it's going to cause me a lot of harm if I don't throw them away - we'll see. I'm not offer fussy about these matters, but I'm a bit surprised that I can't find an expiry date anywhere. Perhaps I've missed it.
One thing puzzles me. The introductory paragraph says 'No colour, no alcohol, just smooth feeling skin' yet alcohol is clearly listed. Confusing or what? I'm glad to know they've been dermatologically tested: I think I would have reservations about buying them if they hadn't.
===How To Wipe Your Face===
The packet also gives some basic directions for use. Peel the label back, wipe your face, reseal the pack as soon as you can! Wipe your face gently, avoiding your eyes. Use morning and evening as part of your daily routine. They're really designed for removing makeup. This is why my pack hasn't been used up yet: I am not someone who wears makeup every day, in fact more than once a week is unusual for me unless I'm going somewhere special. Of course, Tesco say you will get optimum performance if you use with the rest of their cucumber range. Well I can't, as I don't own any others.
The packet is easy to open and I have found it reseals well. I took an opened pack on holiday and they were as moist when we returned as when we left. The smell is quite pleasant, though I can detect cucumber when I think about it I'm not sure I would have picked it out had I not known it was among the contents.
I do mainly use these for makeup removal. I find them easy to use. I was impressed with the ease with which I could remove my makeup. Only occasionally have I had to wipe the mascara from my eyes in more than one attempt. They performed really well for me. I thought my skin might feel taut afterwards, but it wasn't too bad. It did perhaps take a little while to dry, and then I could apply a moisturiser. I had no sensitivity issues around the product and I was happy with the overall result.
I can't compare them with other wipes because these are the first I've used. However I am more than satisfied with them and I think they represent great value for money. I'll certainly be buying them again and I would recommend trying them, too. If they were more expensive it would probably be a 4 star rating, but at £0.99 or thereabouts it has to be 5 stars from me.

~*~ Tesco Cleansing Facial Wipes ~*~
I've been using a new cleanser (Gatineau Melatogenine Refreshing Cleanser, also reviewed) for a few weeks now, and while I love the luxurious cleansing and toning action to my skin, there is one downfall in that it can't be taken over the eye area. I'd previously purchased some Nivea branded wipes for those lazy nights when it was preferable to at least take my makeup off with those rather than just sleep in it. Trying to be good and stick to my new anti-aging routine, I obviously had to take off my eye makeup with something, so I began to use the wipes for solely for this purpose. When my usual Nivea wipes were out of stock in Tesco's when I'd run out, and having read many positive reviews on here regarding these Tesco Cleansing Facial Wipes, I made no hesitation in adding them to my shopping basket for use in conjunction with my Gatineau cleanser. My review discusses my thoughts since my initial purchase.
~*~ The Product ~*~
As a Tesco's own brand product the wipes come as one would expect, in a small, plain looking, white covering. The appearance of them has been updated in recent months, and is still basic and quite minimalistic but quite appealing to me; there's nothing too off putting and I quite like that it's not too cluttered or colourful. The details on the front of the packet inform me that it contains 25 wipes with cucumber extract and vitamin E, an antioxidant that protects your skin, and that they are suitable for all skin types. The reverse of the packet expands the details a little further and inform me that they also include aloe vera, which also hydrates the skin and accelerates skin repair. These are alcohol free, dermatologically tested and have not been tested on animals.
~*~ The Wipe ~*~
To remove the wipe, you have to pull a clear piece of cellophane that peels away to reveal an inch long hole in the packet. This cellophane opens and refastens really easily and without problems and even when I'm almost at the end of the packet it still adheres really well and don't lose its tackiness. This is brilliant as it prevents the wipes inside from drying out; they aren't the moistest of wipes so this would cause a problem.
~*~ In Use ~*~
The wipe measures around 12 cm squared, and comes out of the packet really easily without pulling out consequent wipes. When it's removed, it comes out folded into quarters, and as you unfold it, you will see it's not a very substantial wipe. It feels thin and stretchy and is almost see through. It does the job though, and is moist enough to remove my eye makeup. I don't tend to wear waterproof mascara, but if I did I feel it would really struggle. These work well on my No 17 Doll'd Up mascara and Avon Glimmersticks eye liner, but these are basic products and anything that offered a 12 hour staying power or water resistance wouldn't be shifted with these alone. As I only use these on my eye area I simply use one wipe per evening, but I feel that anyone wanting to remove a full face makeup might even need to use two or three of these, depending on coverage and longevity of the makeup used.
When in use, these wipes are very mildly scented but I couldn't put my finger on the fragrance being that of cucumber if I hadn't have seen it on the label. They remind me of a clean, fresh scent, and one that appeals to me, as although I love strong scents, I don't particularly want lots of scents on my face that could clash; especially being right by my nose where I can't get away from them.
The wipe feels really refreshing, and although I get a slight tingle after swiping my eye area, I feel that this isn't due to any sensitivity that the product has caused; it's simply the moisture evaporating with the heat of my skin. I have dry skin on my forehead but as I haven't used these on my facial skin, I can't comment that this has caused any irritation or further dryness. The eye area is quite delicate but in my experience, I've not suffered any ill consequences and being dermatologically tested, I have faith that they wouldn't cause any trouble anyway. After use these should be thrown away with the household rubbish as they are not flushable. I must also mention that once opened, these wipes have a three month shelf life, which is plenty long enough; I use one a day so these are only ever going to last me a month a most, and possibly a couple of weeks for other people.
~*~ Value For Money ~*~
I can't find the actual price today on the Tesco website (June 2013) but I'm sure I paid around 75p for these wipes, which in my opinion represents excellent value for money. If your skin is particularly sensitive, I see they also have a sensitive version for sale at a slightly higher price, but still only an unbelievable 99 pence.
~*~ My Thoughts ~*~
These wipes are 'supposed' to cleanse tone and moisturise in one easy step; and even remove waterproof makeup. In my opinion, although they remove my basic eye makeup quickly and without harsh rubbing of the delicate area, I feel they would struggle with waterproof or makeup with any kind of longevity or transfer resist properties; you know the ones, 25 hour lasting and smudge proof etc. These feel lovely and refreshing on my skin, and have a mild, fresh aroma.
I like the fact that they contain no alcohol so don't dry my skin out further, and while not moisturising as such, I feel they would be perfectly adequate for occasional use for speed and preferable to not cleansing or moisturising at all. We've not had many hot days of late, but I would expect these would be a wonderful way to refresh the skin on hot days when the skin feels dry and tight, and would be most effective if used straight from the fridge in this instance.
I quite like these Tesco Cleansing Facial Wipes, I feel they represent fantastic value for money, and while there are other (much more expensive) wipes out there that offer further benefits, these do the job well and come at a bargain price. I feel that I can confidently award these wipes my full recommendation along with a full compliment of five dooyoo stars, but please keep in mind that I don't wear waterproof makeup products where these might struggle. I hope you like them as much as I do.
On a visit to Tesco I spotted these facial wipes which were cheap to buy, I do like products which contain a cucumber ingredient because I find it cooling on my face. I hadn't bought these wipes before so thought I would give them a go.
They come inside a plastic wrapper which is quite basic looking in design and can be easily spotted on the shelf. It has a pull back strip which is very easy to open and press back down again after taking the wipes from the packet. I find they are easy to take from the packet too without having to tug them etc.
The wipes are white in colour, are fairly thick wipes for the cheap price. They are kind of stretchy too and very flexible. They have a nice soft texture to them too. I thought they would smell of cucumber but I cannot really detect a cucumber fragrance but they do have a slight smell to them but I cannot really describe it being anything else than a fresh kind of smell. I do however wish they did have a more cucumber fragrance because I do like this smell in a product.
The wipes are quite moist and aren't too wet, I do find these ones hold the moisture for the length of time it takes me to cleanse my skin and to remove any make up.
They do remove make up really well and I can see the dirt on the wipes, the make up attaches well to each wipe and I find I only need to use a couple at a time to remove the amount of make up I wear, which isn't a lot. I wear a small amount of foundation , eye shadow and blusher so the wipes worked well for removing it all from my skin.
The wipes do feel very cooling on the skin but I did find the first time I used them my skin felt a little tingly, I thought it may be just the cucumber ingredient being like a toner at first but the second time I used them I had the same feeling but more tingly and my skin felt a little bit sore. So I decided to just leave them in my drawer and use them again at a later date. I used them about a week ago and my skin was slightly less sore so I decided to use them yet again few days ago and this time my skin felt really sore and itchy so I decided to give them away to my daughter. I didn't like the way these wipes felt on my skin. I do have sensitive skin and I don't think they are suitable for my skin. But my daughter tells me they are fine on her skin and she hasn't had any irritations since using them.
I do however think they are good wipes for removing make up and dirt on the skin, they do really refresh the skin and have a really nice cooling effect. But I would bear in mind if you do have sensitive skin, these may not be suitable for your skin.
They claim to be enriched with soothing cucumber and Aloe Vera. These are natural ingredients so I cannot understand why they irritated my skin because my skin is normally fine when I use wipes with natural ingredients and my skin is also usually not irritated with some other brands of wipes. But this particular brand isn't suitable for my skin at all.
They don't contain alcohol or colours. Are designed for all skin types. I have very dry skin and I have found my skin isn't any drier using these wipes.
There are 25 wipes in the pack and cost just 99p from Tesco, I do think this is a good value price and I do think the quality of the wipes is really good. They would be suitable for all age groups to use and I would say if you don't have sensitive skin like my daughter, they would be worth a go in my opinion.
I won't be buying these wipes again in the future but only because of my sensitive skin and the way they made my skin feel after using them. If they didn't irritate my skin I would definitely buy them again because the moisture, size, softness and the way they perform to remove make up is excellent. I do however recommend them if you don't have sensitive skin.
I did stick with them but not suitable for my skin.
Also appears on Ciao under my username pinky50.
I give these wipes 4 stars, only going to drop 1 star for the way they irritate my own skin and from a personal opinion.
Thank you for reading my review and I hope it has been of some help.
Tesco Cucumber Facial Wipes
I normally buy my face wipes from Poundland where you can get two packs for £1 which is a real bargain. However I was in Tesco and suddenly remembered that I needed some and picked up a few packs of their own brand cucumber facial wipes. These were on a 3 for 2 offer at the time at 99 pence a pack, I have used these wipes may times over the years.
The wipes come in the pretty standard plastic packaging that face wipes come in. The packet is rectangular and filled with folded up wipes, which in the Tesco wipes case is 25. The edges are all sealed and on the centre of the packet on the top is a pull open sticky plastic seal. You pull this open and can pull out a face wipe as and when needed. The plastic seal is very strong and sticky and lasts the duration of the packets use, keeping the tissues inside moist and fresh.
The packaging has very pain branding and text on the front. It is an all over white colour with green 'cucumber' coloured text and the Tesco logo. They are Cleansing Facial Wipes with cucumber extract and Vitamin E. They are also suitable for all skin types and are dermatologically tested and not tested on animals.
On taking out a wipe you can immediately smell the faint and fresh cucumber extract. The wipes are very moist and quite strong and soft to the touch. You take out a folded wipe and unfold it to make a large towel like wipe and rub all over your face and neck for a few minutes. The wipe is soft and pleasant on my skin and the cucumber extract is quite refreshing. The wipes remove make up, dirt and everyday grime from your skin easily after wiping over your face for a minute or so.
One wipe is sufficient for me to feel fresh faced and clean and overall they do a good job for a mid-value range face wipe. There are no essential oils or added nutrients in these wipes like some of the more expensive ones, but for removing make-up and dirt they are perfect and I will be buying them again.
I use cleansing wipes on a daily basis and like trying different ones, especially when they are on offer. One that I have been using on and off for a while is Tesco cucumber cleansing wipes as they are a good price.
The product comes in a white plastic packet with green and grey writing on the front. The Tesco logo is displayed on the front of the packet and in large letters it tells you that the product are cleansing facial wipes (25 wipes) and that they contain cucumber extract and are suitable for all skin types. On the back it tells you a bit about the product, directions for use, lists the ingredients, gives the shelf life (3 months) confirms that the product has not been tested on animals and has some contact information for the brand.
The wipes are white in colour and have a lovely fresh cucumber smell. I would say they have an average thickness, I have used wipes before that has been thicker and also some that have been much thinner. To use the product simply open the packet by lifting up the flap on the top and pull out a wipe. Push the flap back down to reseal as this will keep the wipes nice and moist. Use the wipe to clean your face and neck area. More than one wipe may be required depending if you are removing make up and how much is to be removed. I use the wipes twice daily, once in a morning and once at night as recommended on the packet. There is a warning to avoid direct contact with the eyes.
- Contains soothing cucumber, aloe vera and vitamin E
- Cleanses the skin by gently easing away make up and dirt
- Non tested on animals
- Dermatologically tested
- Contains no colour or alcohol
- Does not upset the skins natural balance
- Suitable for all skin types
Price and availability.
The wipes are available from Tesco both in store and on line and retail at £0.99 for a pack of 25 wipes
These are good wipes, they stay moist in the packet and definitely leave skin feeling clean and fresh. They do not dry out my face after using them and are really good value for money. I would recommend this product.
I am terrible for committing the cardinal sin of not removing my makeup every night that I wear it. Sometimes I get home so late for work that I just can't be bothered to do anything other than curl up in bed. There are two pitfalls to this though - one, my skin doesn't like it and two, my husband doesn't like it (especially when I get makeup on the freshly laundered white bedding!). I have started to buy the Tesco cucumber cleansing wipes in a bid to remove my makeup easily and without too much effort, and so far they are doing the trick.
The packaging is quite basic in that it looks like it might actually come from the Tesco Value range - this has actually changed fairly recently and the packaging doesn't look like the picture on here anymore; it is now much more simple and plain. Don't let this put you off though, because it is the product inside that counts and it is much better than the packaging indicates it might be.
The wipes have a slight cucumber scent to them as you would expect, although it is not overpowering and it doesn't linger, which is good. I found that the wipes are very moist and they do leave a lot of moisture on my skin, which is easily dabbed off afterwards and it is necessary to actually. Despite all this moisture and the claims that the wipes are moisturising, I do need to use a separate moisturiser afterwards because they leave my skin feeling very dry.
Having said that, they do a very good job of cleansing my skin. I find that they are very easy to use and actually a bit thicker than I thought they'd be, so they don't fall apart when you use them. They are quite soft although I wouldn't recommended pressing on too hard with them, and they leave my skin feeling tingly and fresh and actually very clean after I use them.
As with all cleansers, you shouldn't use them on your eyes although I do find that I can get most of the skin around my eyes with them and they don't leave my somewhat sensitive eyes streaming afterwards. i tend to run round the edge of my eyes gently with the wipes and then follow straight round with a bit of cotton wool and it works a treat.
The wipes are available in Tesco for 99p per packet and each packet includes 25 wipes. I'd say that this is very much good value for money as the wipes do the job they are supposed to do, feel quite nice and are quite strong. Recommended.
While I do not tend to use face wipes on a regular basis` as I find them to be an expensive alternative if I find them on offer I often pick them up for convenience. While shopping in Tesco I came across these wipes. At 99 pence for 25 wipes they are cheaper than the usual simple wipes I purchase, and so I decided to pick up a pack to see how well they worked.
The packaging is very simple with just a pulley piece of plastic to open the packet leaving a small opening. This also acts to close the wipes in between use and stops them from drying out. I found that this worked well to keep them fresh, but nearer the end of the pack the wipes were beginning to dry a little. You do have to be careful not to pull it all the way off as otherwise it is a pain to stick back on.
What I like about these wipes are they are easy to remove from the packet one at a time. With some face wipes I find it very difficult to grab separate wipes quickly from the packet, and I often end up with a handful at a time. I find that the wipes are surprisingly thick. I was a little worried they would be too thin and end up being a false economy but actually they are more than adequate. Also the wipes are moist but not overly wet. Again I was worried with them being a value brand they would be soaked or too dry, but they are moist enough to be refreshing without soaking my face.
After using the wipes my face feels very refreshed. It feels soft and clean and they are not drying on my skin at all. I have dry cheeks that usually need extra moisture, but these wipes work well without being drying. Also my skin can be very sensitive and these wipes cause no irritation at all. After using the wipes my skin does look cleaner but I personally still like to use a cleanser after using them. This just gives me the deep clean feel that I like at the end of a long day. This is not unique to Tesco wipes and to be honest other than Olay face wipes I always find I need to use a cleanser after using them. For this reason I use them more for a makeup remover than for actually cleansing my skin.
The smell is lovely. It is refreshing and very noticeable from the second you open the packet. Usually I am not keen on scented face products, but the scent quickly disappears after use. I think it works well to help give more of a refreshing feel to the wipes. They manage to remove make up very easily. With just a wipe against my skin foundation, eye shadow and concealer are easily removed. I do find that mascara is a little more troublesome and it takes a few wipes of this wipe to remove it, but overall it is fairly easy. I do find I need to use two wipes to completely remove all traces of my make up if I have my full face on. For cleaning purposes when my skin is already clear one is adequate, but for anything else I just find the wipe gets a little full quickly.
If you usually use face wipes I would recommend these. They are thick, not too moist and work perfectly at cleaning my face. While I find they do not give me a deep clean feel they work just as well as brand name wipes I have purchased previously. At 99p for 25 wipes they are great value compared to branded cleansing wipes, but I just feel that water or a cleansing gel work a lot better and also work out better value for money. As they are made by Tesco of course they are exclusive to Tesco. There are a number of other cucumber face products available in the range which I have also found to be reasonable quality.
Cleansing wipes are a must have for the bathroom cabinet, whether your female or male. I don't like to spend much on something which is ultimately going to be throw away so I have purchased these Tesco Cucumber wipes quite a few times. They are available in most, if not all Tesco stores.
The wipes come in a pack of 25, and currently cost 99p. At the time of writing this review they were also on a '2 for £1.50' offer, which is very handy for stocking up, as they store well. The wipes come in bog standard packaging, which is a plastic pack with a peel back label to open. The pack is easy to store, and doesn't take up a lot of space. It's important to make sure you seal the label back down quickly after removing a wipe, and ensure that it's no left half open or this will try them out.
The wipes are nice and soft to touch. They're average thickness, I've used much thinner but wouldn't complain if they were made a little thicker. They are quite moist, not wet but moist enough to use on your whole face without drying out. Originally, I was unsure what they would smell like, however they are fresh and neutral - I'm not sure if I would describe it as cucumber like, however salad vegetables are not a fragrance I'm particularly familiar with!
To use the wipes simply wipe them over your face gently. There's no need to wash or dry your face after, and you can throw the wipe away after use. I have found these wipes remove whatever make-up I am using. I'm not a heavy cosmetic user, but haven't had any problems with make-up being left on my face after using these wipes. After use my face always feels fresh and clean. They're also great to use throughout the day if you need a freshen up, or have been out and about. I have used them after dog walking and been surprised at the amount of dirt they've removed just after day-to-day tasks, not something you'd see in a sink of water! The packaging says to avoid contact with the eye area, however I have used the wipes to remove eye make without any problems.
The ingredients list looks a little bit alien, sadly:
Aqua,Cetearyl Isononanoate ,Glycerin ,Ceteareth-20 ,Cetearyl Alcohol ,Glyceryl Stearate ,Ceteareth-12 ,Parfum ,Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice ,Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract ,Sodium Citrate ,Polysorbate 20 ,Tocopheryl Acetate , PEG-35 Castor Oil ,Tetrasodium Glutamate Diacetate ,Phenoxyethanol ,Benzoic Acid ,Dehydroacetic Acid ,Potassium Sorbate ,Sodium Benzoate ,Sodium Hydroxide , Citric Acid
Overall, these are good value cheap wipes that do the job. They're not the most natural around but they're very handy and economical too. 4/5 from me.
I try to use cleansers, toners and moisturisers but I don't always have the time and have found myself using these wipes to help save time.
In the pack you get 25 and they cost £1 which I think is really good value for money.
The packaging is really quite simple but nicely decorated with pictures of cucumbers. The label on the front peels off to open up the package for you to get a wipe out. You stick the label back down after using it to keep them fresh. If this doesn't stick down you end up with a dry wipe on top.
I pull a wipe out and it's easy to do, the hole is a good size so it's not like I have to tug to get them out like I do with some baby wipes. The smell of cucumber is quite evident and I think it's nice, a fresh kind of smell, nothing too unnatural smelling.
I use this to clean my face at the end of the day and remove make up. I wipe it across my face and find that it takes away make up and any bits on my face. I don't have to press hard or rub to get it off it seems to come away easily. I use these even if I haven't applied make up so that it cleans my skin anyway. They are a little wet which is quite cool on the face but in a nice way and my face dries within seconds after using it.
After using these my skin feels nice and clean and fresh. it's also quite nice to see the make up on the wipe to see how much I've taken off my skin.
For £1 these are very good and gentle.
I go through a huge amount of facial wipes, using them to remove my makeup every evening then again for a freshen up in the morning. I wouldn't say I'm brand loyal as most face wipes are quite affordable. One kind of facial wipes I've used recently are these Tesco cucumber facial wipes.
The Tesco cucumber facial wipes are only available to buy from Tesco either in store or online as they are a Tesco branded product. A packet of 25 wipes usually costs 99 pence but can be found on offers quite often such as 2 for £1.50.
The wipes come in the normal packaging for a product of this type in a plastic square packet. It is plain looking, being mainly white in colour. The product name and a little bit of information is displayed on the front, it says it is suitable for all skin types. On the top of the packet there is a pull back tab that keeps the wipes inside nice and fresh. The pull back tab reveals a nice size hole to pull the wipes from and I find they come out of the packet easily without bringing out the wipes that remain in the packet at the same time. The tab sticks back down with ease and it always stays sticky until I've finished using the packet.
The packet keeps all of the wipes nice and moist whether it is the first one out of the packet or the last. As soon as you take them from the packet you smell the cucumber scent, it is quite strong for a facial wipe but I wouldn't say it's a bad thing as it is a very refreshing type of scent. The wipes don't have any type of pattern upon it but it's made from a nice material and is quite soft to the touch.
When I use the wipes to remove my makeup, I find they do work really well and it doesn't take much effort to remove my day to day makeup. However if I have a full face of makeup on I normally require two wipes as one wipe just isn't enough. I also use the wipes to remove eye makeup despite the packaging saying you shouldn't (woops!) and I find it cleans with ease and doesn't irritate my eyes in any way. The wipes are good at cleansing my skin and after using the wipes I do feel like my face and neck are clean and refreshed. It leaves my skin with a soft feeling but it's not soft enough to stop doing the rest of my skin care routine.
For the price, I think these cucumber face wipes from Tesco are definitely worth it. They remove makeup without any irritation and clean skin well leaving it soft to the touch.
