      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      A reliable product

I use cotton buds very regularly, mostly for applying eye makeup, but also for cleaning delicate ornaments, and also (I know I shouldn't) for cleaning my ears. I have no particular brand loyalty - I just pick them up from whichever shop I happen to be in when I've run out, and the box I'm currently using cost me £1.39 from Tesco, for a box containing 200.

These come in a rectangular plastic box with a removable lid, which in theory keeps the buds hygeinically packaged, but in reality due to the thinness and flexibility of the plastic the box is made of, and the shallowness of the lid, isn't very secure. It covers the buds, sure, but you couldn't, for example, pick the box up by the lid without everything falling out.

The buds have quite a generous amount of cotton wool wrapped round each end of the stick, and unlike some of the cheaper brands I've used, the cotton does seem to be nice and securely attached - it doesn't look like it might shed, and so far I've not had any come off when wet, which is another problem I currently have with buds. The sticks are also nice and solid, not as prone to bending in the middle as others I have used.

When using these for eye makeup application, I find these are comfortable to use and non-draggy on the skin. I do prefer using these over reusable make up brushes around my eyes, as I am prone to eye infections, whereas with these I make sure that a dirty bud that has touched my eye never goes back in the pot.

I also find these very handy for cleaning delicate ornaments, I have several with small niches and details that can't be reached with a regular duster, and find that these buds when damp will stick to the dust and get those tight spaces nice and clean, which is much better than washing my collectible which can cause fading to the paint and cracking.

Cotton buds are very handy for all sorts of uses - and these are sturdier and more generous with the wool than most. The only real downside for me is the packaging - whereas some other brands come in circular pots with very secure lids, I do feel the lid with this brand is not tight enough, for which I deduct one star.

      Disadvantages

Good quality cotton wool buds by tesco

      Introduction:

I have started to use cotton wool buds to apply acne cream to spots on my face. My doctor recommended me to use cotton wool buds as they are a hygienic way to apply creams to my face without touching my face and transferring bacteria to the spots. I wanted to buy some and I stumbled across these on my weekly shop at Tesco. They looked good and were excellent value for the amount given. I will now go into more detail on the product.

      Price:

I paid £1 and received 200 cotton wool buds. This is good value as they work out at 2 for 1p! This is excellent value. No complaints on the cost of the product from me.

      Packaging:

They come in a rectangular clear box which I find is really handy for storing the buds. They are enclosed nicely and the box fits on my bathroom shelf a treat. They are packaged well and look more expensive than The price paid for them. The box is easy to open and close. The buds are easily accessible.

      Quality:

They are double sided which means the amount of buds you use is very small, I hardly ever use many. They are good quality and do not tend to break apart when using them. They are also pretty soft which is nice when applying my acne cream as it doesn't hurt my spots or the area around the spot. These are so useful and the quantity you get will last you such a long time into the future. They feel nice and fluffy and are absorbent. there are more expensive cotton wool buds on the market, but I don't see the point in paying more for them If you can get a quality product for such a good price.

      Overall:

I would recommend these to anyone who wants a product that is well made at a cheap price, they are so useful to have in the cupboard and can be used for many things. The packaging is handy and fits better into cupboards than the conventional pot these usually come in. All in all I am happy with this product and I will be buying more in the future, keep an eye out for these on your next shop! Thanks for reading my review, I hope it helped you out! Advantages

      Disadvantages

      Fab

Cotton buds are something that I imagine every home has but rarely needs to buy because they seem to last forever. I am not faithful to a particular brand because I have found that they are all very similar and therefore I tend to pick some up in whichever shop I happen to go in when I am running low.

I picked up these cotton buds from Tesco and I believe I paid somewhere around £1.30 for 200 which I think is a fantastic price because these will last me well over six months. They come packaged in a rectangular plastic box with a plastic snap on lid. Connecting the base and lid is a sticky label which is a very pale purple/blue in colour with bright blue print telling me that they are cosmetic cotton buds and claims they are soft and hygenic.

Opening the box is simple. You simply tear the label and pop open the lid. You will need to be careful when doing this because as the box is rectangular rather than the normal round, deep shape then some may decide to jump out!

The buds have multiple uses. I predominantly use them for make up application and ensuring my ears are clean. However there are many other things that you can use them for such as household cleaning and even art.

When applying make up I use these to achieve more delicate and fine lines, especially around the eyes. They are also great for household cleaning as they are small enough to get into small gaps and grooves eg. Grouting between tiles. For art you can use them with children to achieve a different effect with paint eg. Use the tip to make round dots on paper in the shape of flowers or animals etc - great for homemade cards.

The end of these buds are covered with a generous quantity of cotton which is good as it allows comfort when using them. This is essential when using them on your body such as around the ears and when I use these on my ears I find them soft and cushioned well enough to not cause me any discomfort.

Another thing I have found is that these last well and do not fall apart easily. This is useful when I use these to tidy up my nails after painting them. Just a splash of nail polish remover on the end of a cotton bud will help me tidy up 3 or 4 nails.

I think that these provide me with a trustworthy product which is of a very high quality. They are soft, cushioned and gentle and have a multitude of uses. Recommended.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

The box could be bigger but great product

I generally buy items like this I the supermarket brand and it really just depends where I am shopping when I need to buy them as to what brand I buy. The last time I needed cotton buds I was doing my shopping in Tesco hence I bought their brand of the product.

When I bought the cotton buds they were on offer at £1 for a tub of 200 cotton buds so at ½ a pence each I would say they are pretty good value. Since these are a Tesco product you can of course only buy them at Tesco stores.

The cotton buds come in rectangular plastic tub where they are all lined up on their backs so to speak rather than the likes of Johnsons where the cotton buds come stood on their ends. I like the tubs that are laid down as I find it easier to get the cotton buds out as you can get hold of the plastic rod parts rather than the cotton wool at the top which tends to stick together. The plastic container has a push on plastic lid which when you buy it is sealed by the Tesco label, I tend to only break one end of the seal so that the lid stays in place more easily.

The cotton buds are made of a white plastic rod of plastic with two little swirls of tightly wound cotton wool on each end of them. The cotton wool is soft and there is enough cotton wool on them that you cannot feel the plastic rod inside like you can with some cheaper ones.

I use cotton wool buds for lots of things in my house, there is the usual getting stray mascara from under my eyes which the buds are really good at doing and are nice and soft and don't irritate the skin. Then of course although you are not supposed to like most people I do use them to clean my ears and again they are nice and soft and I cannot feel the plastic inside. I also use cotton buds for cleaning in corners of windowsills and other places that are hard to get a cloth into and I find that these do really well they keep their shape well and get into the little corners well.

I think these cotton buds are just as good as Johnsons which I used to use and I will buy them again. The cotton buds are strong and soft and sell at a great price. The only issue I have with these is when you first open the tub because it is so full you risk a few of the cotton buds jumping out at you which I feel wouldn't happen if the tub was made about a cm bigger in depth.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        Great cotton buds!

I usually only buy Johnsons cotton buds as the quality of them is fantastic. However, I'm trying to cut costs on all aspects of my shopping now so don't buy Johnsons anymore, I've recently been using these cotton buds from Tesco.

These cotton buds come in a transparent plastic tray with its very own lid which slots on the top. The lid is quite tough on the first few openings and you really have to be careful opening it as the cotton buds often fly out with the effort you have to put into pulling the lid off.

There are 200 cotton buds enclosed in the packaging. The cotton buds are exactly what you would expect with two ends of cotton tightly wound around the stick. The stick is very strong and can withhold a lot of pressure if you are using them to remove stubborn marks. I find this perfect when removing odd smears of mascara on my eyelids, if I don't catch the mascara before it dries it means I need to push down hard to remove and I've not experienced any cotton buds breaking on me yet. Another good point about these when using them to clean up any stray make up is that the cotton wool doesn't tend to fray away from the head like I've experienced with other cotton buds, this means I don't have to worry about them smearing other parts of my makeup that are ok.

The cotton wool ends have a nice shape to them so that when I'm using them to clean my outer ear, they can reach inside any nooks and crannies without having to shove the bud in. I've also used these to clean my daughters ears and she doesn't complain so they must be soft enough for her too.

These cotton buds cost around the £1.30 mark for 200 buds in total. They are, of course, only available from Tesco stores or if you do your groceries online, from tesco.com.

I'd definitely recommend these cotton buds, the sticks are strong and the cotton wool is bound on the ends quite tightly. They are soft to use on both me and my daughter and have a variety of uses. The only thing Tesco could do to improve the cotton buds is to work on the packaging so that you don't risk wasting a load of cotton buds as you open them the first few times.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

A decent cotton wool bud from Tesco.

        === The product ===

These are plastic handled cotton wool buds. Each end of the handle has a cotton wool bud on it. These cotton wool buds look like basically any other ones that you can purchase. There are 200 cotton buds in this packet.

        === The packaging ===

These cotton wool buds come provided in a clear plastic tray. You can see at a glance how many cotton wool buds are left and the size of this tub is ideal for fitting in one of the drawers I have in my bathroom. This packaging is not the best but I solely purchased these because of the low price. I find that this type of tub tends to fall open sometimes when removing them from the drawer and this means that I end up dropping a load and then throwing them away because they are no longer hygienic.

        === Do these work? ===

Well I use these for a number of different purposes and they always work well for me. The first use that I use them for is to remove smudges and imperfections when painting my nails. I simply dab one of these in to some nail polish remover and then I can remove any spillages or extra brush marks before it dries. Another purpose that I use these for is for cleaning my outer ear and ensuring that my nieces and nephews are kept clean all over.

=== Where can I buy these from and for how much? ===

These are available from Tesco stores and the Tesco website and they are currently reduced from 87p to 80p in the 'Price Drop'.

        === My overall opinion ==

I really like these cotton wool buds. They are quite thick and the handles are strong and sturdy. I find that I can use these for a number of different reasons and they always work well. They are absorbent and there is a decent amount of cotton wool on each end of the stick. These do not fall apart and I have not had any loose fibres ruining my nail polish recently which is always a big positive!

I do not like the packaging much but this seems to be becoming standard with cotton wool buds now so I am just adapting to picking these up in a special way to try and avoid them from pouring out in to my bathroom cupboard drawer.

I am pleased with these. They are cheap, there are 200 in the packet and they work well for the purposes that I need them for. The price of these is one of the best that I have ever seen for 200 and that alone is surely a great reason to consider these ones when you need to stock up next.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

And you even get clubcard points!

Cotton buds are one of those really useful things that you don't just have to have a baby to own, you need them anyway, just like baby wipes and baby lotion! I love the johnson's version of cotton buds, but they are very expensive as you pay for the name and that extra quality you get. In this day and age we can't afford to be wasting money, now, can we, so I always shop around to try and find cheaper but just as good, or in some cases 'almost as good' will do.

I am always trying Tesco's versions of things, generally I have had quite good experiences and saved a hell of a lot of money, and as I do my grocery shopping with them it is easy to pick bits and pieces up. It was the obvious choice for me to try Tesco's cotton buds.

Tesco's cotton buds come in a square plastic container with a lift on and off lid. The lid is not very secure and fell off plenty of times in my drawer which was a bit of a pain as I ended up with cotton buds all over the place, but they still got used up!

The cotton buds themselves are very good quality, much better than some other 'cheaper' ones I have tried and even cheaper! They were 50 pence for 200 buds, which at 0.25 pence per bud you really can't turn your nose up!

Tesco's cotton buds are all white. The plastic piece in the middle is very sturdy and stays in the appropriate shape when being forced into tiny corners and crevices of your ear too. (Please note I only ever clean my outer ear, the inner ear is too sensitive to poke anything inside).

The ends with cotton on are nice and substantial. Some buds have so little cotton on that you have to use tons of them just to do the job. These are a one cotton bud wonder, one is enough to clean both ears or touch up both eyes after a mascara application!

These are fantastic cotton buds which I would definitely buy again and are easily as good, if not better, than some of the named brands.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

Handy to have around the house

I think cotton buds are something that can be found in most households, they are not just for babies but can be used for many other things aswell. Tesco Cotton Buds are not usually a brand that I buy, I usually buy some from my local Netto which to honest are much cheaper than Tesco, but the other day I really needed some as I had totally run out and it was much quicker to go to Tesco.

        The Packaging
Well there's not a lot to describe here, the cotton buds come in a square (ish) clear plastic container with a clear plastic lid. The lid is held in place with a pale blue sticky label going the whole length of the container. In darker blue lettering across the middle of the label are the word "Tesco" and underneath this it says "Cosmetic Cotton Buds, 200 Pure Cotton Soft and Hygienic" It also says on the label that the cotton buds are useful for both cosmetic use and babies. On one end o the label is the bar code and on the other there is a piece of writing which states that they cotton buds are made from 100% pure cotton and are ideal for all of the family. This writing is very small and a little difficult to read. So that is basically it for the packaging, very plain and simple, probably not the most attractive but then who would have cotton buds sitting on the dressing table.

        Price
The pack of cotton buds cost be around 50p from my local Tesco however they are usually priced at 70p I was lucky and got them when they were on offer. I think that 70p is reasonably cheap for 200 cotton buds. The amount of time they last depends on how often you use them (obviously) for me a pot lasts just over a week however I do use them every day when applying my make up.

        Uses
Make up - They are ideal to wipe away any smudges of make up or to blend any make
Cleaning - The end of the cotton bud is small enough to be used to clean hard to reach places around the house, such as sinks or the grout in tiles, you only need a tiny amount of cleaning product on the end of the cotton bud.
Nail Varnish - I often use cotton buds to remove smudges of nail varnish that have got on my skin or any bits of nail varnish that have been left around the edges of my nails when I remove it, all you need is a small amount of nail varnish on the end of the cotton bud
Crafts - Cotton buds can be used for various crafts for example cleaning off glue or paint that has smudged.
First Aid - They can be used to clean small cuts or apply creams to a cut hygienically without having to touch the cut preventing the spread of germs.

I particularly like these cotton buds as the cotton wool is tightly wound around the end of the cotton bud and does not flake off into your eyes when using them to apply or remove make up. The cotton wool is also very soft on the end of the cotton bud meaning they do not make your eyes sore when remove stubborn make up. The cotton wool on Tesco cotton buds is certainly as good as that used by Johnsons cotton buds and at half the price. The stem part of the cotton bud is also quite sturdy and strong, some really cheap brands tend to have a weaker stem which bends as soon as you try to use them or apply the smallest amount of pressure. This is particularly good when using them for cleaning in hard to reach areas.

Overall I would recommend Tesco cotton buds as a necessity in all households, they do not have to be something just used on babies, they have a variety of uses around the house. Tesco cotton buds are so much cheaper than other brands such as Johnsons therefore if a pot does not last you that long it is not a huge amount to spend out each week.

        Advantages
Have many uses - either cosmetic or around they house
        Cheap
        Soft cotton wool
        Sturdy stem
Cotton wool does not flake off into your eyes

        Disadvantages
        None

        Disadvantages

        Try These To Save Money!

I always use Johnsons cotton buds but thought I'd try Tesco's own last week because Johnsons products are going up in price and for a basic product like this I thought I should try the cheaper version. These are quite a bit cheaper and only cost 55p for 200 cotton buds, nearly £1.00 cheaper than Johnsons!!!

They're just as good as well, it's shocking I think that these own brand cotton buds are near enough identical to Johnsons and there's no way I'll be swapping back again! There is 1 little difference and that's that the cotton on these doesn't look as tight as the Johnsons buds so they look a bit rougher, it's not important though because they feel and act exactly the same so who cares???

The cotton doesn't fray or leave fibres like I thought it would being so cheap, it's deffo tighter on the stick than it looks. I mainly use them for doing my eye make up so it's important that it doesn't shed loads of fibres all over my face, these cotton buds work perfect and stay intact whatever you use them for.

I quite often use these when it's my turn to clean the bathroom because they're wicked for cleaning between the tiles and round the plug holes. These are strong enough to get rid of the dirt and the cotton picks up the grime good without the end snapping off or anything like that.

I don't use cotton buds to clean my ears and stuff like that so if you want to know how they perform when shoved into an orafice you'll have to buy a pack and find out for yourself!!! lol I can't see why they wouldn't do just as good a job as Johnsons and the cotton on the end overlaps the end of the stick by quite a bit so if you like pushing little sticks into your ears then at least they're soft!

For the price I think these are wicked, they're just as good as Johnsons and do exactly the same job for 1/3 of the cost!

        Recommended!!!

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

          A good bud!

I always have cotton buds around as I use them for so many things. They are great to use if you smudge your eye make-up, you can just wipe the small area rather than taking it off the rest of your face as you do with other things. They are also great for cleaning, when you can't get that last little bit of dirt out of a corner or crevice.

I can't remember how much they were exactly, something silly like 30-40p for 200, either way, they're a bargain!

These buds are just like any others really - a plastic stick with a bit of cotton wrapped around the ends!

They are the standard size and shape for cotton buds and are pure white in colour. The 'buds' seem to be very tightly wrapped and are very secure so they will not come off and get stuck in your ears, as one did with one of my friends, lol!

There are some cotton buds that seem quite light and fluffy, and some that seem a bit sturdier and smoother to touch. These kinds err towards the sturdy and smooth side.
Due to this, they are great for most of the usual jobs and for removing stray make-up, they are not as great for blending when applying though. They are easily coated with make-up, but then it is quite difficult to get it off the bud and onto your face!

This is something I would have expected them to be good for, considering they have the word 'cosmetic' in the name.

Overall - A good product; cheap, effective and secure - All you really need in a bud!

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

          Better than many other brands.

          What are they?
          ************
A pack of cotton wool buds by Tesco.

          Special Features?
          **************
These cotton buds have been specially designed for cosmetic use, beauty needs and general family care. The buds are made from 100% cotton.

What do I think of them?
          *******************
I generally use these for applying make-up and some personal hygiene. I find these quite good, in particular the quality of the cotton is pretty decent, there is no flaking, fleecing or loose bits that are likely to come off during use, the standard is such that the cotton is quite tightly bound around the tip and does not crumble the slightest even when a substantial amount of pressure has been applied.

On the other hand, the tightly bound cotton does have its disadvantages. I find the buds a little difficult to work with when I'm applying make-up. I usually tend to use these with eye make-up, generally when I'm applying eye shadow. As the tip is quite solid, it doesn't really give way when I try to use it to pick up some eye shadow, more than often, I end up digging pits into my smooth layer of eye-shadow on my palette, and so I'm then left with pits and dents.

The buds do help with blending make-up, but again, the tightly bound cotton is not very generous in giving way, and it often does feels as if I'm dragging the tip against my skin, and when you're trying to blend make-up, this can feel quite harsh, especially on the eyes.

The tightly bound cotton tip can be a bit of an issue, because even when you wet it with water, the cotton doesn't really expand or hold much water, and yet again I feel the small tips don't really clean as effectively as I would like them to.

However, for a box containing 200 for only 39p -it's an absolute bargain and they are so much better than a lot of other brands that I have tried.

          Thanks for reading, xx
