      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      While cheap, this facial scrub is completely useless for me!

      I have combination skin, including an oily t-zone area that is very prone to acne and blemishes. Therefore, I always try to have a facial scrub/exfoliator to use when I shower to keep my face as clear as possible. Of course as a student I can't spend too much on facial care either, so usually I stick with store-brand items. However, in the case of Tesco's Exfoliating Facial Scrub (£2 for a 150ml tub) I shall definitely be upgrading!

      ==---Packaging---==

      The Tesco 'Skin Clear' range has recently undergone an update in packaging and labelling and it is now called 'Pro Formula'. The facial scrub packaging has an orange and turquoise background which is very faint compared to the logo and words put on the front, but it is eye-catching and the colours complement each other. The packaging is also very informative with the usual instructions, warnings and claims that it the product is for all skin types and "scientifically developed for Tesco to remove dirt & impurities".

      The facial scrub hasn't been tested on animals, and a quick look at the ingredients shows there isn't anything that strikes me as harmful for your skin.

      ==---Using It---==

      As with most facial scrubs and washes, you use this by putting a bit of scrub into your hands and then massaging it over your face and neck before rinsing it off with warm water.

      The scrub's consistency is a bit runny and like a gel with exfoliating particles found every now and then. Personally I didn't mind this as the scrub is gentle on my skin, which can be quite sensitive. Initially it seems like the scrub does a good job; it's easy to put on and rinse off, and after using it my skin does feel a bit lighter.

      However, not only did not it prevent or get rid of acne or blemishes, it actually made it worse! A few weeks into using the scrub I had a large breakout of acne and blackheads over my face. As the facial scrub was the only product I was using on a daily basis (occasionally with the facial wipes by the same brand) I realised that this was the cause of the breakout. This is very disappointing because the product claims it is for all skin types and yet it is too oily for my combination skin.

      Since I stopped using the scrub a week ago my face is much clearer- I'm not spot-free but the blackheads have all but gone and the spots remaining are much less visible. For the moment I am sticking to using facial wipes and nothing else. Obviously I am very disappointed in this product for making my skin worse instead of better. At least at £2 it didn't burn my pockets, but I shall definitely look upmarket for a facial scrub which suits my skin better than this did!

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      Not the best I have tried

      introduction:

      I tried this when it first came out, they re-branded there old design and released this. I went through a stage of really liking exfoliating fash wash as i felt it really got rid of a lot of dirt from under my skin. The reason I tried this was because it was the cheapest face wash on the shelf at the time. This was released at half price to get people using it. This never really agreed with my skin and I will now explain why.

      Price:

      I paid only £1 for a 150ml bottle of this, it is now retailing at £2 for a bottle. This is still competitivly priced alonside the other braded products on the shelf. However sometimes the branded products are on offer to a similar price of this stuff. The bottle is made out of soft plastic which is easy to squeeze out the wash from inside it. There is a cap which flips open and a small hole for the facial scrub to come out of. Overall the price and general look of the product is actually very nice, the pattern on the facial scrub bottle is very pleasent to look at, it doesn't remind you of a typical supermarket own brand product.

      Did it work?:

      This did not agree with my skin at all, I used this for 3 weeks and really didnt see any improvement in my skin. I noticed that I had few blackheads on my nose, yet I had more spots on my cheeks, chin, forehead and a few on my jaw. I also noticed that it was making me scar and look red after use. I didn't rub very hard with it. I wasn't impressed with its spot fightin capabilities. However after I used this on my face it felt clean, yet a little dry. I have rather sensitive skin and this really wasn't for me. I did persevere with it as I wanted to use all that I paid for! Wish I didnt as it wasn't benfiting my skin in any way shape or form.

      Overall:

      This product was a let down for me, it felt nice to touch and had small exfolaiting beeds in it, but they didnt seem to do anything for me. I have read that exfoliating can give you more spots so I dont think I will be using this again. The overall cost and branding is good, but whats inside the bottle never pleased me. However this could work for your skin type, people react different to products and this may work wonders for you.

      this gets 2 stars from me, very dissapointed! was hoping for better. I will next be trying the plain tesco facial wash, it may be better than the exfoliating one so watch out for a review soon.

      Thanks

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      I Bought this face srub to try and prevent spots, I have been using it in the morning and before I go to bed for about three days, and now I have more than double the amount of spots I had before I started using it and not only on my face. From where i washed it off and the water has gone down my neck there are spots starting to form. It's rediclious!!It does not even provide any way of making complaint, no number or email address. I know i am not allergic to anything that is itn this so called "purifying" facial scrub, and as all I use is the scrub there is no other conclusion to draw other that it is this scrub creating the spots. It Only has a star because they would not let me publish without one.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      A good facial scrub from Tesco that can compete with leading brands

      I tend to have a couple of face washes on the go at any one time. I always have a St Ives scrub and then vary the other one depending on offers in the supermarkets or shops at the time. When my other facewash had finished I was looking in Tesco for a replacement that would be suitable for my skin, which can be quite sensitive, and get easily irritated. I noticed that Tesco had their own range of clear skin facial washes and scrubs and picked up this particular one: TEsco Clear Skin Purifying Facial Scrub, which currently costs £1.75 for a 150 ml tube, but at the time I purchased it, it was on offer for less, although I still think even at full price this is very good value, especially in comparison to other facial scrubs on the market.

      What attracted me to this product was that not only was it a facial scrub, which I find keeps my skin clearer, but that it states on the front of the tube that it is suitable for sensitive skin. It also claims to help prevent spots and be paraben free. The colours and packaging of the product resemble some of the other clear skin products on the market, and is presented in the colours of orange, and several shades of green.

      On the reverse of the product, it gives some more information about this range of clear skin products from Tesco. It states that this range has been 'specially formulated with Salicylic Acid to help keep problem skin clear and healthy'. Now suffering from acne as a teenager I always remember the positive effect that a product with salicylic acid that I used at the time, had on my skin, as recommended by the doctor. It also states that this is a 'non foaming' face scrub which will 'remove dead skin cells as well as everyday dirt, oil and impurities that build up'. It is meant toi gently purify your pores and leave your skin feeling healthy and renewed.

      It is true to say that this scrub is non foaming but it is easily to apply to your face and you can feel and see the little exfoliating beads in the product, as you massage them into your skin. I have been using this facial scrub for well over 2 weeks now, and firstly, I have had no reaction to it, thus supporting its claim to be suitable for sensitive skin, and I also like the way that it leaves my skin. I sometimes find that the St Ives scrub can leave my skin quite dry in places, but I haven't as yet noticed this product doing so, and I suppose it maybe isn't just as strong an exfoliating scrub at the St Ives, but still works at leaving your skin feeling clean first thing in the morning and last thing at night, removgin any residual make up, not already removed, and leaving my skin feeling healthy and most importantly clear.

      With being pregnant, every so often I seem to get a little breakout around my chin area, but I have to say that I think this product has helped keep that under control, and I do believe it probably has a lot to do with the inclusion of the salicylic acid, which as I said, I have had a positive experience with before.

      All in all, I would happily recommend this facial scrub. It is just as good as other scrubs that I have tried in the past. It is ideal for sensitive skin like mine, so you don't need to worry about an adverse reaction to it, it leaves skin clean and clear without drying it out, and it does seem to be gentle on the skin, rather than the harsher exfoliating washes out there. What makes this product even more appealing however is the price tag, which at £1.75 is significantly cheaper than many of the branded products on the markets, which in my experience do the same job. A great product from Tesco that I would happily buy again!
