“ Brand: Nivea / Type: Face Toner / Subcategory: Cleanser / Cleanser / Suitable for: Face / What it does: Cleanses, Refreshes, „
Nivea claim that their Daily Essential Refreshing 2 in 1 Cleanser and Toner is enriched with Vitamins and Natural Lotus Extract, gently yet effectively cleanses your skin, will remove daily impurities and make-up, and its 2 in 1 formula, cleanses and tones in one single step without leaving residues.
First off, I love the soft subtle scent- gentle and not overpowering. Secondly, it glides on to the skin beautifully, feeling creamy not watery. From the first application my face has felt softer, and despite my sensitive skin (that's dry but also prone to breakouts) I have been spot free and suffered no soreness in my skin at all. After finishing the first bottle, my skin has been much more moisturised, I haven't had a single spot and my pores seem less obvious. The bottle lasted around 2 months, of a single daily application so was also great value for money!
The only drawback was that it disn't remove make up that well. Having said that i do usually wear long lasting make up and waterproof mascara so this could be why.
Definitely worth a try if you have combination skin and don't have time for a long skincare regimen.
I am terrible when it comes to my skincare regime. I often buy myself all new products and swear to use them every day but 3 or 4 days down the line they are collecting dust on the side. I know I should care for my skin better but I'm just so lazy when it comes to using the products!
However, I have been trying to take better care of myself all round over the past few months. I suffer with depression and I have noticed that when I dont take care of myself properly and leave my hair frizzy and dont put on any make up I feel worse. So I now try to make a bit more of an effort because it makes myself feel better.
A couple of weeks ago I decided that yet again I needed to go and stock up on skincare products. My skin isnt too bad. I'm 23 and I do suffer from the odd spot but I certainly dont have particularly spotty skin anymore. My skin is combination. Some areas are oily (especially around my nose) and I can suffer from dry skin sometimes, usually on my forehead. I do prefer to wear a foundation or tinted moisturiser on my skin because I suffer from blemishes and I really dont like their appearance. However, the main reason I decided I wanted to begin a proper skincare regime was the worry of ageing skin. I would like to keep my skin looking as young as possible for as long as possible so therefore I thought that it was probably well past the time I should have began looking after my skin.
I am on an extremely tight budget at the moment so I was really pleased when I found that a lot of the Nivea products were on sale in Superdrug for half price. I trust Nivea products and they are definitely one of my favourite skincare brands. I was even more pleased when I saw that they offered a 2 in 1 cleanser and toner. In my eyes, anything that is likely to make the dreaded skincare regime a little easier or quicker is invaluable!
I paid just £1.75 for the cleanser and toner which was less than half price. It usually retails at £3.59 which is still a very reasonable price for a 2 in 1 cleanser and toner product from a trusted brand. The bottle is 200ml in size.
The bottle design has changed a little since the picture above was added. The bottle is a tall, slender bottle with a flip top lid. The bottle is an opaque baby blue in colour and there is a large Nivea logo. The bottle tells me that the product is part of the Nivea Daily Essentials range and it is designed for normal and combination skin.
To use the cleanser and toner it is recommended that you apply the product either with your hands or a cotton wool pad. I always use a cotton wool pad and I personally do feel this is the better method of application. I use a blob of the product that is around the size of a 50p piece for my face when I want to cleanse and tone my skin but also to remove my make up including foundation and eye make up. If you werent wearing any make up then I doubt this much would be needed. You are supposed to rub the product in a circular motion on your skin. You can then either remove the product with water or with a clean cotton wool pad.
My skin instantly feels refreshed as soon as I begin applying the product. It is a creamy white in colour and has a fresh, clean scent to it. It is always nice and cool on my skin and it feels like it is instantly caring for my skin, both cleaning it and moisturising it. It soaks into the skin quickly and my skin is dry again within about 20 seconds.
The product removes make up well. I find that I do need to use a few cotton wool pads in order to remove all my make up but it removes all traces of make up quickly and with ease including heavy eye make up and waterproof mascara.
When I have finished using the product my skin feels really clean and super soft. My skin hasnt felt this soft in a long time and I really like how it feels.
I was amazed with how quickly the product had an effect on my skin. In less than a week of using the product most days my blemishes have been dramatically reduced and my skin looks a lot more balanced and toned. I feel like my skin looks better and I am happy knowing that I am doing something to help care for it.
I do suffer with sensitive skin but I have not had any problems with this product at all. I have not experienced any soreness or redness and instead my skin feels really calm and well looked after. In addition to this, I am a terrible sleeper and currently I am averaging about 5 hours a night which leaves my skin feeling very tired and dull. However after using this my skin feels instantly refreshed and I really like the effect it has around my eyes because it really wakes me up.
I estimate that I use about 50ml of this product per week so I would need to buy a new bottle every four weeks or so. At the current price it is being offered for in Superdrug this is an absolute bargain but I wouldnt hesitate in buying it at full price either.
This cleanser and toner really helps look after my skin. It is quick and easy to use and my skin feels refreshed, soft and cared for. It has helped reduce my blemishes and my skin looks much more balanced.
A brilliant product that I would definitely recommend.
I don't have extremely oily skin, however I find that whenever I wash my face with soap and water, the few days following I come out with terrible spots and blemishes! I was told it was because the soap disrupted my oil levels, making my skin dry and causing my face to let out a large number of oil to retain back the oils lost- causing larger number of spots and boils. Because of this, I now never use any sort of soap or face wash. This may sound dirty to some people, but I get by through using makeup removers and face wipes, which for years now has proven to be great for me.
It wasn't until a few months ago that I felt I needed something more for my skin, as I used different face wipes going by whatever was on offer, and not all of them left me feeling clean and fresh.
I found when I woke up in the mornings, usually throughout the warmer months, my face felt and looked greasy and I just did not want to apply my makeup to my face which felt so dirty! Because of this, I went on a hunt for some sort of cleanser.
I was very worried about using something new, as in the past I have had bad experiences using cleansers. I was looking for something which wouldn't make my skin feel sore or dry, yet made me feel clean and helped remove dirt and left over make up.
I wanted a cleanser to help cleanse my face, but I understood I also needed a toner to apply afterwards to replace any oil removed through the cleansing, which made the choice twice as hard. I now needed to pick a right cleanser, and a right cleanser and expected to have to go through many different products to find something which would suit me.
On one of our big shopping trips to tesco, I had a quick nip down the beauty isle thinking I may aswell start trial and errors somewhere. I went on price more than anything, expecting to have to go through quite a few. After picking up a few and looking for ages, I came across the Nivea range. Unfortunately, in my local tesco store, they don't put all of the cleansers together, and all of the toners together, they put them in brand order so I had to go through each brand looking for the cleansers!
I came across this bottle of Nivea which said it was a cleanser and toner in 1. This, and the amazing price sold me straight away. I picked up my first bottle for around £1.60 as it was currently on offer.
I went back to tesco the other day and whilst browsing I noticed this product was still at a great price, of only £1.99! So I grabbed another!
This product can also be found in Boots for £3.59, which although is more expensive, I would still pay that price if I had to.
The liquid isn't too thick, nor too watery. I apply using two cotton pads, applying a generous amount and rubbing it in a circular motion on my skin. The feeling of this cleanser/toner is instantly refreshing, and to my relief it dries quickly and does not leave a sticky or gluey feeling on my skin.
Even after using make up remover and facial wipes, this cleanser/toner still picks up traces of dirty from my skin, and my skin feels much more cleaner and refreshed after use.
The bottle is light blue in colour, and is shaped in a quite thin bottle which makes it very easy to grasp and squeeze out the liquid.
The lid snaps open and shut easily, even with wet or slippery hands and so far I have never had any problems with it leaking, which is great as I am forever throwing it onto my bed.
I personally don't think this product smells too strong, although it has a slight floral perfume fragrance to it which doesn't make my skin sting or itch, but does leave a slight nice smell on my face (according to my partner anyway).
My partner is quite picky when it comes to creams or what goes on his face, in fact he hates anything fragranced or girly going near his skin! However when it comes to this cleaner/toner, he loves me using this on him! He also has no complaints and loves the way it leaves his skin.
I will certainly continue to use this cleanser/toner, it is a fantastic price and considering I also don't need to buy a toner to apply afterwards, I would consider this a fantastic buy!
I only need to leave my face a matter of minutes before I am able to apply my makeup in the morning, as it sinks into my skin so quick. My skin has never felt dry or itchy after using this product, and it has actually helped decrease the levels of spots I get. I don't suffer from acne or huge levels of spots, however I have seen a difference! After using this product for about 2 months now, I am almost coming to the end of my first bottle. Considering the cost and the length of use, I would say this is great value!
I can not recommend this product enough! Definite 5 out of 5 from me!
Thank you for reading, I also post on Ciao.
I bought this yesterday when I was in Morrisons. I was looking for a cleanser because since having my last baby my skin care routine has gone out of the window and I was keen to get It back on track. I picked this up as it was on offer it only cost me £2 I think it was half price so it will normally be around £4.
I always try new products so don't just stick to one certain brand im very much driven to products by value for money and cost so often buy things that are on offer
The bottle looked nothing special. You could identify it as a nivea product straight away as it is in their usual blue color. Nivea has been around for years so must be a great brand, I remember my grandma had some nivea cream on her dressing table when I was little so it's a well known product. The bottle has a flip lid which is white and then the rest of the bottle is a light blue color, it looks very clean and fresh.
There is 200ml of the product in the bottle so I feel this will last me ages as I only use it once a night.
The lotion smells like a normal kind of skin product a nice fresh and clean smell. It is dispensed from the bottle very easily you just squeeze the bottle. I always put the product onto cotton wool and then wipe the wool across my face and neck but you don't have to do it this way. The product was great it certainly cleansed my skin as I had already washed my face yet after I had cleaned it with the cleanser you could see quite a bit of dirt on the cotton wool so its great as removing extra dirt.
I was really happy with the product and feel that it does what it is supposed to do. It is a great time saver as it cleanses and tones at the same time so its one less bottle to have on your dressing table. A great product that I would recommend.
I've been trying to speed up my night skin care regime as I've been quite lazy and skipping it altogether, using one product for two things shaves a bit of time from it and makes me do it more often. I'm currently using this 2 in 1 from Nivea.
The Nivea visage 2 in 1 cleanser and toner is quite widely available to buy from Supermarkets and places like Boots and Superdrug. It comes in a 200ml bottle and usually costs around the £3 mark but is often on offer. I picked mine up as part of a two products for £4 deals.
The packaging is quite simple and typical of this type of product. It comes in a light blue plastic bottle with a white flip top lid. The product information, ingredients and how to use it can be found on the back of the bottle. The flip top lid stays securely closed when it's not in use and is easy to open when you want to use it. There is a cm wide hole under the lid so it's easy to get the product out of the bottle without any problems.
The product itself is a pearly white colour, it has quite a runny consistency so you need to be ready to catch it when it comes out of the bottle. I apply mine with cotton wool pads and find that if I use one pad to look after the product, it sits on the pad well until I've used all of it up. The product seems to just glide effortlessly into my skin when I apply it, I find it is very effective at cleansing but the toning part isn't fantastic and do prefer using a separate toner with it if I can be bothered. I have occasionally used this product to remove my daily makeup but it isn't that great at this so don't do it very often, it seems to take a lot of product to get a little makeup off. The fragrance isn't very strong and has the familiar, clean sort of scent that you find with most Nivea products.
After using this 2 in 1 cleanser and toner my skin is left feeling quite soft but it leaves my skin a little drier than I would have liked but this isn't a problem as I moisturise straight after using it anyway. As far as saving time is concerned, it does save time but with a separate toner needing to be used it isn't the greatest 2 in 1 product and only gets used on my lazy days.
I'm not sure on whether or not I would recommend this, I won't be buying it again based on the fact that I have to use a separate toner but it does cleanse quite well. It's easy to apply and soaks in fast so it isn't all bad.
I do my best to always take my make up off before bed but sometimes I just can't be bothered, so if a product does the job of cleansing and toning together and potentially save me time, I'll give it a go.
I spotted the Nivea daily essentials 2 in 1 cleanser and toner in Tesco where it was priced at £2.90 for 200mls. When you compare that to the fact that you would probably pay at least £1.50 for a separate cleanser and toner the cost is average or cheap if you buy a more expensive items. This combined with it being a known brand generally seen as good, I was quite happy.
**** WHAT IT'S SAYS ON THE BOTTLE AND MY OPINION ****
The product is in a fairly tall thin but quite wide plastic bottle which has a flip top lid. The lid is firm and holds in the lotion but it is easily squeezed out, but with care. The fact that the product has cleanser and toner together means that the lotion is quite liquid in nature and you may get a lot more in one squeeze than you think.
The back of the bottle gives quite a lot of information including a substantial list of ingredients, company addresses along with product details.
The product contains vitamin E and hydra IQ that are both supposed to help moisturize and keep skin healthy.
The product is for normal to combination skin and has an expiry on 12 months.
Application is simple you can apply with a cotton pad or with fingers and gently wipe or massage around the face to remove make up and then wipe off with water or another cotton pad. I tend to use just one cotton pad to apply it then turn it over and remove with the other side. You get the nice Nivea smell as soon as you squeeze out the lotion which is nice and refreshing.
As the lotion is quite runny you do have to apply in bits I find as if you put to much on the pad it starts to run off the edges by the time you get to your chin! This I do find a tad annoying as I want it to be quicker and wiping in on in bits then off again just seems to take as much time as it would doing the whole separate cleanse and tone does.
The lotion feels cooling on your skin but after you do not end up with that slight tightening feeling that you get with a toner, I miss that I have to say as I feel my skin is refreshed then. Another thing with the lotion is that although it seems to cleanse the majority of my make up off as I can see that on the pad, I don't feel like my face is really clean. When I take a closer look at my skin I can see small remnants of my make up mainly foundation still in the skin.
In summary I have persisted with this product as I don't like to waste things but I don't feel it gives me enough cleansing to remove my entire make up.
Review maybe posted on dooyoo and ciao under the same username.
To be honest I am not a particularly girly girl, I don't wear makeup, it's just a thing I never got the hang of as a teenager, but as I got older I realised I still needed a facial care routine to prevent me looking like a wizened prune before I hit thirty.
While in my teens and twenties I mostly used cheap and cheerful ranges from Body Shop and Boots intermittently and that seemed to keep the grease, blackheads and spots at bay.
Then I hit my thirties and realised that my skin no longer tolerated random products or a general attack with a hot flannel and that it was now rebelling with a greasy forehead and cheeks and the occasional spot and black head. My solution to this was to start using facial washes, but that didn't work, they stripped my skin of moisture and left my skin feeling stretched and uncomfortable.
Unfortunately I don't have large budget for facial care so I decided to have a look at Nivea's range of face care, I have used there moisturiser, lip balms, hand creams, deodorants and shower gels with no problems for years.
The product that caught my eye was Nivea Visage Daily Essentials Refreshing 2 in 1 Cleanser and Toner, it was on a half price offer so cost me about £2.50, I thought this was excellent for a product that claims to cleanse and tone in one go.
The bottle contains 200ml and has a flip lid with a small hole for the product to be squeezed out. The fragrance of the cleanser and toner is very pleasant; it is a bit soapy and makes me think of baby lotion. The cleanser and toner looks like a moisturiser as it is quite thick and white.
The accompanying instructions on the bottle are to massage onto skin with finger tips or cotton wool and then remove excess with cotton wool or water and to avoid the eye area. I chose to apply the cleanser and toner to my face using large cotton wool pads, I squeezed a blob about the size of a five pence piece onto the pad and then smooshed it around the pad a bit I then proceeded to cleanse one half of my face, the cleanser was quite pleasant and seemed more like a moisturiser than a cleansing and toning product, I then did the same with the other half of my face with a second cotton pad.
The cotton pads lifted what looked like a fair amount of muck and grease off what I considered to be an already clean face, I used a third cotton pad to absorb the excess cleanser and toner from my face and then proceeded to bed. My face did not feel cleansed, it felt like it was wearing a layer moisturiser, my pores felt clogged and I was not happy in general with the feel of my face, and the fragrance from the cleanser and toner was quite strong and as it was on my face it was pretty hard to get away from.
In the morning my skin did look fresher so I decided to give it another go that night, but instead of removing the product with cotton pads I chose to rinse my face with water and then gently pat dry with a soft clean towel. This seemed to work a lot better for me, my skin felt clean and fresh and looked hydrated.
I have been using this product for a couple of weeks now, my skin is looking nice and fresh and the outbreaks of spots and blackheads is clearing up, although my forehead and cheeks are still a bit greasy the combined effect of the cleanser and toner seems to even my skin tone out.
In conclusion I will continue to use this product till the bottle runs out, which will probably take a good while, as I don't like to waste things. When it does finally run out I won't be making a second purchase as I feel my skin needs something less creamy. The product is described as refreshing and I personally do not find it refreshing, if I don't wash it off it feels quite cloying and as though it is blocking my pores. The cleanser claims to be for normal or combination skin types, I would class myself as having combination skin and I feel that this it to rich for my skin.
If you want to try it for yourself it can be found in most shops, chemists and supermarkets for around £3 to £4.
Thank you for reading.
If you've read my reviews in the past you'll know that I'm a big fan of Nivea products and when I run out of toiletries and am looking for a replacement it is usually Nivea that I turn to first. My mum always used Nivea products when I was younger and I have loved the smell of their ranges since I was little. The fact that they're my first choice is generally down to their fragrance and the comfort that gives me, transporting me straight back to childhood!
Nivea products are very widely available and can be found in most supermarkets and drug stores. I purchased my bottle of the refreshing 2 in 1 cleanser and toner at my local Bodycare shop where I found it on the special offer of buy any 2 for £4.00. As the same product costs £3.59 in Boots I thought this was a bargain so got the cleanser and toner and a bottle of the refreshing toner to match.
The cleanser comes in an opaque, very pale blue plastic bottle, containing 200ml of cream, with a white plastic flip top lid. It claims to cleanse and tone the skin leaving it feeling fresh. On the reverse of the bottle are the usual instructions for use, ingredients list and company contact information. There are also further claims that this cleanser removes daily impurities and make-up in one simple step. One negative for me, however, is that there is no information on the plastic bottle about whether the packaging can be recycled or not when you have finished with it. I expect more nowadays, especially from large copanies like Nivea (who are owned by Beiersdorf).
I have to admit I'm a bit slapdash when it comes to my skincare routine. I like the idea of having a strict regime with a cleanse, tone and moisturise procedure, but when it comes to the time of day when that would happen I'm usually too tired and just want to fall into bed. If I'm being good I'll take my face off earlier and do my "routine" then, if not I'll generally resort to using a face wipe to clean my face. Having said that, I do go through phases (usually when I've read a good review of a product) where I stick to a skincare regime more rigorously and toddle off to the shops to purchase a whole new set of products.
I started using the Nivea cleanser and toner about 3 months ago now and, despite it being my beloved Nivea I haven't been overly impressed so far. Whilst it is easy to use (simply flip open the lid, squeeze a small amount onto some cotton wool and massage into your skin) it is no easier than other cleansers I've used in the past. I like that it is a creamy cleanser as it feels like it's treating my skin better, but personally even though this is a 2 in 1 cleanser and toner I still feel the need to follow this with a quick wipe over my skin of the refreshing toner as well as the 2 in 1 product doesn't leave my skin feeling refreshed like it claims it will. Don't get me wrong, it leaves my skin feeling clean and gets rid of the vast majority of my make-up and any grime ( I am frequently disgusted at the colour of the cotton wool after wiping my face!) but, as it's creamy in texture, my skin doesn't feel refreshed and invigorated after use.
After using this cleanser I am always reassured that my skin is much cleaner than before, but invariably the sweeping off toner over my eyelids especially always reveals further remains of mascara etc that it missed. I know that in an ideal world you should use a separate eye make up remover as well as a cleanser but I don't have the patience for that and always expect my cleansers to do both.
The bottle states that it is suitable for normal and combination skin. I've never really understood the difference between these two and would consider my skin to be fairly normal. I don't tend to get many spots and it is usually fairly clear and healthy looking. This cleanser hasn't had any adverse affects on my skin, it hasn't made it drier or greasier so I would say that it is definitely suitable for those skin types.
The fragrance of this cleanser was also a slight disappointment to me. You can vaguely smell the traditional Nivea aroma in it but it nowhere near as pronounced as with their moisturiser or suncreams and it seems to be slightly more chemically smelling. As the fragrance was the main reason I bought this it is probably enough to put me off buying it in future but not enough to put me off using the rest of the bottle up.
As I said, I bought this around three months ago and have now used approximately two thirds of the bottle, using it at least 5 times a week so it is long-lasting and a little really does go a long way, making it good value for money, especially if you can find it on offer.
All in all this is a disappointingly "okay" cleanser and toner 2 in 1 product. I personally don't like my skin to feel creamy after my skin care routine so always use a separate toner as well and I don't feel that this cleanser leaves me with a "fresh skin feeling" like it claims it will do on the bottle. The fragrance is also a bit of a let down for me, with way too much of a chemical aroma lingering in the background and not enough of the Nivea smell. It does clean my skin well, but doesn't remove all traces of make-up, but then again it does say to avoid using it on the eye area so i probably shouldn't use it to remove eye makeup in the first place!
Despite my love of all things Nivea I'm afraid this one is pretty average and so gets an average 3 stars from me.
I'm not very loyal to a particular brand or product when it comes to skin care - I tend to look for things which are on offer in the supermarket... About 3 months ago I was looking at the H&B section in Tesco and came across this 2 in 1 cleanser and toner from Nivea on the reduced shelf - for around £1 for a 200ml. For what a great brand Nivea are I thought I would try this as I still haven't found cleanser or toner products I am happy with and getting both in the one bottle for such a cheap price I wasn't breaking the bank trying.
The 2 in 1 is packaged in an almost oval light blue coloured bottle with a frosted white colour secure flip lid. The packaging is well suited as I will state later in this review the actual liquid is like water...
The lid to me is quite hard to open which can be good if there is young children running around - you can pop the lid open by using pressure with your thumb upwards. You get the liquid out the bottle by squeezing the bottle which is a thin plastic - there is no pump involved like some other packaging.
As mentioned above the total product comes to 200ml.
About the product
The liquid itself smells like a general skin care cleansing product and is white in colour. Unfortuntatly for me, the liquid was a bit too watery for me and doesn't "soap up" very well. It feels almost like rubbing water into your face.
Application is advsied on the bottle to apply and remove using cotton wool before using day/night cream.
The front of the bottle gives you the product name and claims to "clean and tone for a fresh skin feeling". It also tells you the product contains Lotus extracts and vitamins. Lotus extracts are well known to be great for anti-aging so you feel better as well as using anti-wrinkle creams this product is also helping your skin.
The total shelf life on this 2 in 1 comes to 12 months - I have been using it now for around 3 months and its still slightly more than over half full when using 2-3 times a day. If you use this the same as me, you will definetly use the whole bottle by the time the 12 months is up.
What do I think?
Overall even though it has the general soapy smell - I would prefer a nicer smelling product like fruit - and the watery consistancy, generally it does what its supposed to... cleans my skin really well and my skin does look great and more awake after use. Being honest this is the first 2 in 1 product I have tried in cleanser and toner previously I have just bought singles - and I love how it saves me time.
Price & Availability
Would recommend to everyone - I think I am very lucky for getting this at the price I did because you would normally expect to pay around the £2-£3 mark. Can be found in many supermarkets and the likes of Superdrug and Boots.
Skincare is a big thing for me. I love trying out new products from new brands or old brands that I know and love. I went for a facial at a local beauty salon and the lady I asked me what products I used, I told her the products and she suggested I start using a cleanser rather than cleansing wipes. I popped into boots the next day and found this cleanser and saw it also had toner in, anything that will save me time is a big help to me so I bought it.
This cleanser is part of the Nivea essentials range and is described as 'Refreshing 2 in1 cleanser and toner that leaves skin with a fresh feeling.' But when I used it,yes it took my makeup off but it stung my eyes and didn't take waterproof mascara off either. It didn't really feel very nice on my skin either, it was runny in the bottle and came out in big blobs. I didn't like this that much as a cleanser or toner and although it was only cheap, it didn't live up to my expectations from nivea as a brand.
I have used this product for years; having tried lots of other products I always come back to this one. Other cleansers can leave a greasy residue on your skin and definitely give you spots! This one however, will definitely not do that. It is lovely to use, refreshing and not too thick or greasy.
I find that other cleansers you absolutely have to use toner afterwards, again because the leave a residue and it doesnt feel fresh on your skin. This product is a 2 in 1. However, I do still use a toner, because I like to, but you can get away with not doing so for sure.
My criticism is the price. It's not expensive compared to other products, it's probably not overpriced, but i find it doesn't last too long and I have to buy it quite often so it works out a little pricey for my budget. It's rarely on offer in supermarkets which is why I have tried other products, but my verdict now is that its worth the price. I love it.
I'm usually very distrustful of two in one products finding that the separate ones work much better. However, when I saw this nivea 2 in 1 cleanser and toner on offer I bought it. Mainly because anything to save me time in the morning is always going to be a winner with me but also because Nivea is a name I trust and so I'd hope their products not only work but also don't aggravate my skin.
About Nivea 2 In 1
Nivea 2 in 1 cleanser and toner claims to both cleanse and tone skin leaving it feeling fresh and clean. It is designed to be used with normal or combination skin and contains both lotus extract and vitamins although it doesn't actually state what vitamins and I can't see any specifically mentioned in the ingredients.
I'm not too sure what benefits lotus extract is supposed to offer but Nivea do mention it several times on their packaging so maybe it's just me!
This is an incredibly easy product to use. The lid flips up easily and reveals a relatively small hole. The directions say to rub it over my skin with cotton wool and then to use a dry cotton wool pad to wipe it off again.
So, I turn the bottle over and squeeze a little bit onto a cotton wool ball. The liquid is a white colour and a very runny consistency. Whilst the hole is small due to it being so runny it does take some practice not to squeeze too much out as it does come out the bottle quite quickly.
There isn't really any particular scent. It just smells fresh and clean.
As soon as I apply it to my skin I can tell that it is of a high quality as it feels very clean and refreshing even on newly washed skin. It spreads over my face easily and is absorbed by my skin well. As soon as I take the cotton wool away from my skin I can see small bits of dirt on it so I can tell it is cleaning my skin.
Once I've rubbed it over all my face and neck I then get a clean cotton wool bud and wipe off any excess. This removes easily and usually this comes off clean, there have been a couple of times where it hasn't and then I just repeat the whole process over again. After having done this for the second time I have never had any problems with it not coming back clean.
I also use this after washing my face at night to help remove make up. This is usually what leads to me having to use it twice as I'm sure all you women know make up isn't always the easiest thing to get off.. Especially if it's waterproof! However, as I said above using this twice is enough to remove all my make up.
After use my skin feels clean, running a hand over my face it feels silky smooth and very moisturised. My face in particular is very prone to acne and although I can't say that this has prevented any breakouts it does seem to help them heal faster when I do get them.
Because of my problems with acne I have had problems finding a good moisturiser for my face which has been an issue as I do get dry patches of skin on my face. However this has such a moisturising effect on my face that I've found I don't need to add any extra moisturiser and so it's solved this problem for me too.
Visibly, after use my skin looks much brighter and healthier. After the first few uses this only lasts around two to three hours. However, if used regularly this improvement does last all day.
The shelf life of this product is 12 months, when used twice a day one 200ml bottle will last around 9 months.
Although it doesn't specifically say that it is suitable I can't see any ingredients that will cause a problem for either vegetarians or vegans but I would advise checking this before buying a bottle.
This is advertised as being for normal/combination skin but I would say it is suitable for everyone. It is very moisturising and has helped with my dry skin but at the same time isn't at all oily so shouldn't be a problem for those of you with oily skin.
Price, Availability and Recommendation
I bought my bottle from ASDA and the usual price is £3.00 for a 200ml bottle but it is widely available. So its not the cheapest cleanser available but as it's a 2 in 1 it does work out cheaper then buying them both separately.
The results I achieved from this completely exceeded my expectations and despite being a 2 in 1 has given me better results then some other separate ones. It is definitely one I'll be buying again and therefore one I'm more then happy to recommend. It's getting 5 out of 5 from me.
I am a big fan of the Nivea brand and although am experimental with other products this is all I can really use on my face in the way of skincare. I was looking forward to trying this as I have had such great experiences with the rest of the range.
The packaging is very typical of the Nivea brand, nice and simple. The cleanser & toner bottle is white and light blue like a lot of the visage products I use. It comes in a stand up bottle with a flip lid, I would have thought you would need to squeeze the bottle to get some of the lotion out but it comes out itself. So a warning for the first time you use as it went out everywhere when I first tried!
The instructions are simple you put some on the skin with cotton wool and then remove with either cotton wool or water. Some more of the information tells you that it contains 'Lotus Extract & Vitamins' which are great for the skin whilst 'removing impurities and make up'. I thought this sounded great as I am guilty of sometimes being a little lazy with make up removal. I know I know its shocking!
This feels like a lotion and is a little watery for me if im honest. It smells lovely, not scented of anything in particular but nice like the rest of the range. It has cleaned my skin well not left it tight or anything but I much prefer the gel as I get a bit of a lather. I don't really know where I have put this product on my skin until it comes to take it off.
For me I can say that it is great having something 2 in 1 for time saving when you're in a rush but I didn't find this particularly good at removing any make up (although this is not the main point of the product it was promised on the back of the bottle). I would recommend this if you want something simple to clean your skin and you prefer a lotion to a thicker gel but my bottle has hardly been used as I have bought the wash gel and love that!
I paid just under £5 for 200 ml and it has lasted me for quite a few weeks. It's available from most stores you would expect like boots, superdrug and you could pick it up with your weekly shop.
Why I choose this product:
I usually use the Clinique three-step programme as the headliners of my skincare routine, however those of you who have ever used Clinique products will b aware of the price tag it comes with. i was on the lookout for a product i could use as an alternative that would keep my skin in tip top condition. Iwas aware of the good reputation of the nivea product range which attractd me to this product. Another selling point for me with most products is the smell, however brilliantly a product performs if the smell makes me feel sick i will not want to put it on myface, for example, we all know that TCP blitzes spots in a sec but would we want to smother our chops in the stuff every time a blemish appears- NO. So the yumy smell that is familiar with all nivea products really sold this to me.
Who will like this product:
Those looking for an affordable product that will cleanse and tone in one go. This product is a real time saver and works a lot better than baby lotion in removing makeup.
Where to find this product:
Most Boots and Superdrug stores will stc the entire Nivea range. Some suppermarkets may also stock this product. i always suggest looking out for your favourite products in cheapr shops such as Savers as you never know when you'll spot a bargin.
£2.89 for 200ml of product, which is cheap as chips, and much better for your skin.
This product comes in a blue plastic bottle with a white pop cap top.
This product lasts for 12 months.
This product comes out as a white lotion, similar to baby lotion. this product is a two in one cleasner and which is time saving and costs less that buying both. This product is enriched with Lotus Extract and Vitamins that helps respect the skin's natural moisture balance while removing impurities and makeup.
How to use:
Use every morning and every evening as part of your face care routine before using a dily mosituriser (Nivea do a fantastic range of these too). Apply to skin with cotton wool, using quite a dollop. I'd cover face with the product and removing whith a cotton wol pad in a circular motion, doing this endures that all makeup is removed. If your in a rush just apply a small amount to a cotton wool pad and do the same.
This product is dermotologically approved and is compatible with normal to combination skin.
This product works quite well and leaves skin feeling really refreshed. i would suggest those with normal to dry skin use this product as it adds moisturisation whilst removing makeup, this may overload oily ski in which i would suggest using sepearte cleanser and toners. I found this product to work quite well for me and made my skin feel silky and smooth. Also the price is fantastic..
Buy this product if you want performance at a cheaper price.
