I love to treat myself to the occasional face mask but I have to be careful with my pennies and for this reason I like to use the Montagne Jeunesse range as they have such a wide variety, for lots of different skin types so there is one out there for everyone.
I tried the white chocolate face mask a few weeks ago and this is not the first time I have used this particular face mask. It works really well for my skin type and it leaves my skin feeling gloriously soft and smoothes and well moisturised after I have used it.
These masks only cost £1 each and I tend to buy a few different types whenever I pop into Superdrug. The white chocolate mask sounded lovely and as it claimed to be an ultra cleansing mask, I was keen to try it, especially for my oily and troublesome T Zone.
This mask is quite thick in consistency and therefore fairly easy to apply to slightly damp skin. I tend to use face masks in the bath as this is where I am least likely to make a mess and get it everywhere. I used this whilst lying in the bath last time and I used a small hand mirror to apply it and see what I was doing. The mask tends to dry fairly quickly and so I always feel like I Have to hurry up and get it all on. It feels tingly as it hardens but the sensation is not an unpleasant one. I would say to leave this particular mask for about twenty minutes, though the pack states to leave for only fifteen but I personally get much better results if I leave it on for five minutes longer.
It is easily rinses off with warm water and a clean cloth for all those little bits which get stuck. Afterwards I splash my face with cold water. My face literally glows with health after I have used this mask – my skin seems to love it. I apply only a small amount of moisturiser as this mask is itself very moisturising and does not dry out the skin.
For only £1 it is well with it and it gives my skin the treat it deserves.
Well, firstly I will start by saying that I never use face masks - never! I dont know why but the problems I had as a teenager with these I have been put off (I once left it on for so long that it would not come off, I had to use a nail brush and believe me that did more damage to my skin than benefits!)
But when I walked past these in my local Superdrug store for £1 I thought why not treat myself? I could do with a little bit of pampering and im sure this time I wont be leaving it on as long. Off I bounced to the till with my lovely new face mask.
A pampering treat with the words chocolate on the front, well it doesnt get much then that. I had chosen this White Chocolate mask as I love white chocolate and it states on the front that this is an Ultra Deep Cleansing Masque. Perfect!
After a hard day at work and the gym I opened the sachet of Face Mask, the packaging is exactly as pictured above and ws easier to open than I originally thought, using the small slit on the top left hand corner I pulled it and the whole top section came off in one piece. The smell was devine!
The smell just hit you in the face and I couldnt wait to get it on. I began spreading the thick but smooth mixture all over my face and it was very easy to apply. I just used to of my fingers and spread it on my face doing sections at a time, first my cheeks, then my chin, nose and forehead. This was a luxury on its on and instantly made me relax.
Once I had applied the face mask all over (A handy tip: Make sure your hair is out of your face before you apply the mask) then I did what it said on the packet and relaxed for 15-20 minutes, well actually I began writing this review instead!
The mask within about 60 seconds and begin to harden but it felt nice, it was like a slight tightening but nothing that wasnt relaxing but after around 3 minutes it become really tight and I couldnt move my mouth for fear of the mask cracking. But it was a good excuse for relaxing and keeping silent for a while.
After 10-15 minutes I then washed off this mask using warm water and a cloth, it came off much easier then I first anticipated and when I looked in the mirror I was shocked, it couldnt be? My skin looked glowing, it was brilliant. My skin hadnt looked this good in so long and not only was I 'glowing' but my skin was so soft that I didnt even need to use moisturiser.
I dont know why I was so suprised but I just didnt think this product would do so well on my skin, I saw it more as a pampering session without any other benefits but it really was more than that and I cannot why to try the rest of the masks from this range.
I really like this product for £1 it is excellent value for money. I would pay up to £3 for this product and will be buying some more from the range. They are widely available in Boots, Superdrug, Large Supermarkets and even places such as Bodycare, Home Bargains and BandM's. These average at £1-£1.49 but are usually on 3 for 2 offers.
The only downside to this product is as I only use a small amount of product alot is wasted and I am unable to re-seal it so if you could re-seal it that would be good! They do offer this product in a large resealable tub for £5 but that doesnt then give you the opportunity to mix and match the face masks.
If you want to escape and relax for 15 minutes and get amazing skin results then £1 is all it costs.
I like to use face masks once or twice a week to give my skin a deeper clean and keep it in good condition. Although there are a few products that I like to use on a frequent basis, I also like to have a change sometimes. When I do, I often opt for a Montagne Juenesse mask becuase they have such a wide range to choose from. On my last trip to Primark I noticed that they were offering a three for £2 promotion on the masks, which was the first time I had actually noticed they were sold there! One of the masks that I picked up is the one I am reviewing today - the white chocolate variety.
WHO THE MASK IS FOR AND WHAT IT CLAIMS TO DO
The packet doesn't recommend the mask as suitable for a particular skin type - my own skin is combination. MJ promise it will leave my skin feeling deep cleansed and "as smooth as the softest cream". I chiefly chose the mask over others in the range because I thought it would smell nice. I have used other chocolate scented products from MJ and they have smelt amazingly realistic. How ever like real chocolate they are, they are not actually edible! In this case, some of the ingredients used to make the chocolate have been used in the face mask individually, rather than white chocolate as a whole. These include cocoa butter, milk, and "flavouring". The main ingredient is clay though - kaolin.
The mask comes in a plastic sachet which means it is easy to open and squeeze out the product. The sachets always seem generously filled and this is no exception. There was much more than I needed to cover my face with, even when applied thickly. When I first opened it I was a bit disappointed with the scent as it didn't seems as chocolatey as I was hoping. I thougt it smelled creamy with a hint of vanilla, but it seemed to lack that real sweet white chocolate aroma. It wasn't horrible though by any means, so I was happy to apply it to my face. It actually reminded me of a set face cream in texture. It felt softer on my skin than clay maks often do, and lighter too. It was also slightly easier to smoothe across my face than usual.
Having applied it all over my face, I was required to leave it on place for 15-20 minutes. I always leave my masks on for the maximum amount of time. The mask felt quite wet at first, but it had dried out by the tme 20 minutes was up. I don't like masks that dry too much and tighten your skin uncomfortably so I was happy with this. I could hardly smell it durng this time, whch would have been more disapponting had I liked the scent more in the first place. Washing it off took longer than average - I felt the mask had multiplied snce I put it on! Once that was over, I stepped back to look at ..
My skin looked slightly pink at first but this settled down quickly. Once it had, my skin looked smooth and clean, but it was lacking that additional radiance I have come to expect after using an MJ mask. I have large pores around my nose and these did not look completely clear. The product is supposed to be deep cleansing and clay masks usually deal with that problem area quite well, so that was disappointing too. The best part of the result was that my skin really did feel baby soft, and just as much so as when I moisturise. The softness lasted into the next day, but I felt I needed to moisturse after that. MJ suggest that the mask is suitable for weekly use, but I would struggle to notice any difference to my skin after 12 hours or so. This makes it the worst MJ product I have tried in terms of making a real lasting dfference to my skin.
WOULD I RECOMMEND THIS MASK?
I think it didn't make enough dfference to my skin to make ths worthy of recommendation, despite the fact it isn't awful. It smells nice, if not very white-chocolatey to me. It left my skin clean, apart from the deep pores but they are a problem not everyone will have. If you mainly want a mask to leave your face softer, then this is worth a try. However, I think that other MJ product also leave your face soft, whilst delivering other benefits for the same price. I won't buy this mask again myself, because there are so many other nicer ones out there. Should you wish to purchase it yourself, it is widely available for around £1-1.10.
Vegan, and not tested on animals.
I have recently started using Montagne Jeunesse face masks on a weekly basis to keep my skin looking healthy. I often stock up on all different masks so that I can experiment with them all. Having previously been impressed with all of their face masks, I went ahead and picked up this White Chocolate Masque and was hoping for the same impressive results.
I purchased mine on offer from Home Bargains. They are currently selling these masks at 3 for £2.00 which I think is a fantastic price as the mask works out at around 67p which is a great saving. I have seen these also in Superdrug, Boots and some supermarkets for a little more but they tend to be around £1.00 which I think is a great and affordable price for a treat to your skin.
I normally opt for fruity scented face masks or quite fresh scents such as cucumber. I always avoided the chocolate range as I thought it would just be too heavy and sickly to my taste. The only reason I actually picked this up was because it was on offer and thought it would be worth a try. Turns out that I was just about to be pleasantly surprised with this one...
When I opened up the sachet, I had a sniff of the product. It did smell exactly like white chocolate, but it was not too sweet or sickly. I was worried that the scent would be too heavy and that I would not find it suitable to put on to my face. Although it did smell of chocolate, it was actually quite a pleasant and not overpowering scent. The face mask itself is completely white in colour and dries white too.
Applying this was extremely easy. The mask itself is quite thick in consistency, and the sachet contains plenty. I don't like to apply it to my neck, so I found that there was plenty in the sachet and I even had some left over. The smell was lovely when applying, and I like to squeeze the mask from the sachet on to my hands and then apply directly to the face. I made sure to cover the whole face whilst avoiding the eye area, lip area and hairline. Using this was really simple, and I just had to wash my hands after application as it was a little messy.
Then all you are required to do is sit back, put your feet up and relax. This is my favourite bit of using face masks, where you can just let it do its job. After around ten minutes, my face really started to tighten and get firmer. I love this feeling, especially on my usually oily skin. It was really relaxing and enjoyable to use. If interested, the ingredients of this mask are almond, cream, shea butter, cocoa butter and jojoba. They are all natural ingredients and kind to skin, as well as combining to create the lovely scent.
It says to leave the mask on for 10-15 minutes, but I did not feel that mine had dried in this time. I left mine on more like 20-25 minutes to ensure it had really tightened the skin well. I then rinsed off the mask with warm water. This process was fairly simple and not at all messy which I was quite happy with. I then just patted my face dry with a towel to reveal the true results.
I noticed that my skin felt much smoother and looked a lot healthier. These masks are a really fantastic treatment to use on skin as the results are just fabulous. I couldn't believe how much better and healthier my skin managed to look. I was really impressed with the results on my oily skin so I would definitely recommend this for people who also have oily combination skin. The mask does state that it is suitable for all skin types which is great as it means that it appeals to everyone.
Overall, I was really impressed with this white chocolate face mask from Montagne Jeunesse. It smells good enough to eat and leaves the skin looking and feeling wonderful. I will be awarding this mask four stars as I think it is of a high quality, but I will knock one star off as I know that the scent might be just a little too sickly sweet for some people. Thanks for reading and hope this helps.
My first amazon voucher, courtesy of Dooyoo, was spent on a few Crayola bits and bobs for the kids as well as a pack of 6 pick and mix Montgane Jeneusse face masks. Last night I decided to try the white chocolate one, which is an ultra deep cleansing mask.
The Montagne Jeunesse white chocolate mask comes in a foil sachet that contains 17 grams and is perforated for ease of use. On the front there is a picture of a smiling lady with the mask on, leaves and chunks of white chocolate over her eyes. In the background there are also further pieces of white chocolate. The packaging is quite fun and attractive.
The ingredients of this masque include natural clay, sea salt (which have cleansing properties) and cocoa seed butter, carrot seed oil, sweet almond oil, jojoba seed oil and vitamin e (which have moisturising properties). Montagne Jeneusse claim that this mask will leave your skin deeply cleansed and as smooth as the softest cream.
Before using the mask I cleansed my skin and then proceeded to applying it. The mask itself is a light cream colour and quite thick in consistency. I found it very easy to spread it all over my face with my fingers, and there was a nice cool sensation to begin with. I found that the sachet contained much more than what I needed just for one application, but certainly not enough for a second one, so I ended up using about two thirds of it, and ended up with quite a thick layer of it on my face. The scent of this mask in my opinion is not necessarily that of white chocolate but a cross between shea and cocoa butter, but very very sweet and resembling that of something you would eat for dessert! It is certainly not for those that are not keen on sweet, if not slightly sickly scents! Also beware, it lingers on for a couple of hours after use.
After about 5 minutes of having it on, the mask began to dry up. Apart from the typical tight sensation that comes with all clay masks, there were no itching, tingling or stinging, that I sometimes experience when using other face masks. I left it on for 15 minutes (the scent was starting to make me feel a bit sick to be quite honest) and than made my way back to the bathroom ready to take it off and expecting a lot of mess! However, it was easily removed with a warm wet face cloth; the mask returned to its creamy consistency as soon as it came into contact with it, so it was easily wiped off.
My first impressions of my face were that it definitely looked and felt deeply cleansed, refreshed, brighter and more even than before. However it did not feel particularly moisturised, but it was in fact left drier than prior to application. This was not a problem as I immediately applied my night time cream and my face certainly felt and looked better than before using the mask. I was quite pleased with the results until this morning when I woke up to find 4 or 5 little white spots (looked like milk spots) on my chin! I very rarely get spots so I assume that these were in fact the result of having used this mask the night before.
I am not sure if this is a reaction to the mask or it means that the mask has simply brought up all the crap from under my skin to the surface, which might be a good thing!
Despite this, I will try the rest of the Montagne Jeneusse face masks which I purchased and will also review these in time. All in all, the white chocolate face mask was a reasonably ok face treatment, but I don't think I would purchase this particular one again, simply because I found the fragrance a bit too sickly for my liking (even though I do usually love sweet scents) and because I am still not sure about those little spots. I have therefore awarded this mask 3 out of 5 doyoo stars, thank you for reading my review!
As a little treat to myself I quite often buy Montagne Jeunesse facemasks which more often than not I find in places for a about a pound each. However recently I found a good little deal on Amazon where I got 6 sachets of varying facemasks for £5.00 which included postage and packaging and so I thought that was a great way of getting a little variety.
This is one of them that came in the pack and rather liking other chocolate offerings in the way of face masks from this range was very pleased to receive it!
Well this face mask is simply like all the others in packaging that I have tried in the past from this range to be honest. The sachet is quite a large one and plastic on the outside and silver foil inside. The front of the sachet has a picture of a lady wearing the chocolate face mask and chunks of white chocolate covering her eyes and we are told that it is Montagne Jeunesse White Chocolate 'Ultra Deep Cleansing Masque' and that it weighs in at17g (some information is also listed in foreign language stoo). On the back of the sachet we are told a bit about the product and there are diagrams shown on how to use it, the ingredients are given (this is suitable for Vegetarians to use by the way and not tested on animals) and contact details for the manufacturer are also stated. Nice, easy to tear open sachet this is and there is plenty of face mask inside of it too and this one can easily give a couple of applications though you do need to find a decent way to seal it to keep it fresh so I simply plonk on the whole lot and don't mess about with it.
Well this is a stiff off white coloured putty and I was surprised that it was kind of dry to look at though once on contact with my body heat from my face this did spread very easily indeed. This is not a self heating face mask like some of the other chocolate ones from the range and it takes between 15-20 minutes to dry and when it does so it does dry out rather a lot but doesn't dry so stiff it hurts and the smell of this is really nice and of white chocolate though to me not in an entirely natural way as some of the other chocolate face masks are in the range so thankfully I wasn't tempted to lick it!
I removed it easily enough with a flannel and rinsed my face clean with cool water and that was that. This left my skin feeling smoother and softer than prior to using it, my open pores looked less prominent and my skin didn't feel overly tightened but did feel slightly toned and fresher
However although I cant say anything really negative about this face mask I didn't feel that it was as nice as some of the Montagne Jeunesse facemasks that I have bought and tried in the past but like I say there's nothing really wrong with it as such I think my only quibble with this is that my face didn't feel 'ultra' cleansed or owt like that!
Its an ok one this but nothing special and for that reason I wouldn't go out of my way to buy this one in the future.
Available in all good chemists and supermarkets and the likes priced at around the pound mark.
This review is also posted on Ciao under this same username.
As much as I would love to be able to nip to the salon on a regular basis to have facials this is not something that my current budget will stretch too. So I tend to buy face masks and have DIY pamper nights at home. One brands of facemasks that I regularly by is the Montagne Jeunesse range these can be found in quite a lot of stores including Wilkinson's where I usually buy mine from.
The Montagne Jeunesse masks come in a huge range containing masks for all different skin types, results, and also different masks specifically designed for men. The masks are available in individually sachets which contain one treatment. Recently I have noticed that some of the most popular masks are now available in larger tubes too. I paid just £0.89 for the last mask that I purchased which was the White Chocolate mask from Wilkinson's.
The mask came in a foil lined packet which has a small cut at the top which allows you to just tear the sachet open. I did try and tear the sachet but found it just would not budge so took a pair of scissors to it instead to snip the corner off.
I will say that I was a little disappointed with the fragrance of this facemask, I expected a lovely sweet white chocolate fragrance which when I first opened the sachet I got but as I squeezed the mask out it seemed quite a artificial and chemically smell instead. I tried not to let the fragrance put me off though and proceeded to apply the mask.
On the back of the sachet there are the instructions for use of the mask. This is put into four clear steps with pictures as well as written instructions. The four stage application process is as follows:
- Cleanse face
- Apply mask
- Relax for 15 - 20 minutes
- Rinse mask off
The mask itself when I squeezed it out of the sachet was very thick and cream in colour. I found it very easy to apply the mask to my skin it smoothed on evenly and easily. I did find that I only needed to use half the amount contained in the sachet as you do get quite a lot. This makes the masks even better value for money as if you only snip a small corner of the sachet off to open it then you can easily keep the rest for a few days and use again for another application.
Although I was not overly impressed with the initial fragrance of the mask when it was on I didn't really notice it that much. I left the mask on for around 15 minutes and by this time the mask had almost fully dried and had a dry clay like appearance. I washed the mask off with a cotton flannel and warm water, it was much easier to get off then I expected it to be and I was very impressed with the results. My skin looked much fresher and smoother. I do have some areas of enlarged pores on my cheeks and chin and these appeared much smaller after using the mask. Overall I was very happy with the mask and if you can cope with the chemically fragrance then I would certainly recommend anyone to try it. This is certainly a product that I would buy again in the future as the results far outweighed the disappointing fragrance.
I am a big fan of the packets of Montagne Jeunesse face masks, I don't buy any for any particular reason I just buy them as and when I fancy using one for a mini pamper session and ones I like the look of.
One I bought recently was the White Chocolate Ultra Deep Cleansing Masque.
This particular mask comes in a white chocolate decorated packet, you can see the squares of chocolate in the background, and melted white chocolate being poured off a spoon at the top of the packet. A woman wearing a creamy looking mask is smiling happily on the front, with cubes of chocolate covering her eyes, all very mouthwatering I must say. The bottom of the packet tells us this is Cocoa Butter and Cream.
I'm not a chocolate lover, but I love sweet, deliciously scented products so I couldn't wait to try this one.
When opening these packets I find the scent is emitted immediately and they usually smell absolutely gorgeous so I couldn't wait to smell the sweet scent of white appetising chocolate.
Instead I actually turned my nose up at this! It has that cocoa butter scent, but it's bitterly strong of cocoa, a hint of sweetness but overwhelmingly strong and bitter it almost made me feel sick. I quite like the scent of cocoa butters, but this was way too overpowering and smelled nothing like chocolate!
Extremely disapointing. Now seeing as these masks are meant to be applied to your face obviously the smell is going to be fairly strong being close to your nose, and as I really disliked the smell of this I couldn't use it all over my face so I just used it on my forehead to test it out for review purposes.
The mask itself is fairly thin compared to others, a creamy coloured mask, with a creamy texture but like I said it is quite thin, it smoothed over my chosen area of skin quickly and easily but as it is so thin I could see my skin through my smothered mask so I applied more until it was a little thicker. Even though I only smoothed the mask over my forehead the smell is so overpowering it really wasn't enjoyable for me to use this mask. Despite it being thin it didn't run down my face and remained on my forehead where I applied it. Rinsing it off was also a breeze and my best experience of using this mask as I couldn't wait to get rid of this sickly scent. I don't feel it made that much of a difference to my skin at all. I usually feel refreshed and clean afterwards and my skin usually feels soft as well from using these masks. This one seemed to make no difference nor give me that refreshed pampered feel neither. This mask to me is an acquired taste, very much like marmite, you're either going to love it or hate it, it's very overpowering scent takes away from the pampering and the relaxing experience of using it and if like me you don't like the smell it is extremely disapointing however I will be buying more masks as there are so many I do like and enjoy using, but for me this particular mask only gets one star!
~~~ Introduction ~~~
I bought this (and a few other) face masks from the Montagne de Jeunesse website after reading some particularly mouth watering reviews on here. Good old Dooyoo, sometimes you just have to buy the products after reading good reviews!
I apologise in advance for alternating between the work mask and the more pretentious "masque"!
~~~ Packaging and Ingredients ~~~
The White Chocolate deep cleansing masque comes in a little 17g sachet. All of the face masks from Montagne Jeunesse come in a similar little sachet. This one has a background showing big, creamy squares of white chocolate with a girl in front wearing the masque and with leaves and chocolate chunks over her eyes.
The bottom of the pack states that it is cocoa butter and cream.
On the back of the sachet there is the web address: www.montagnejeunesse.com and some information about how to use the product. There is also a lovely little blurb describing how the masque will allow your skin to be deeply cleansed and nourished. I'm a sucker for these things so right away I can't wait to start slapping it on to my obviously undernourished face!
Because this is something which goes on the skin, I feel it is important to list the ingredients in the review just so that anyone with any allergies know what they might be purchasing.
The ingredients are: Purified water, Kaolin, glycerine, glyceryl state SE, cocoa seed butter, natural clay, shea butter, dead sea salt, carrot seed oil, parfum, sweet almond oil, vitamin E, jojoba seed oil, cream extract, milk, soyabean extract, sucrose, maltodextrin.
The package states that the milk, soyabean, sucrose and maltodextrin and ingredients of white chocolate and this is why they are in the masque.
There is also a very cute little warning reminding the customer not to eat the face mask as it is for external use only!
~~~ How to use ~~~
There are really two ways to use the masque. You can use it as a relaxing, pampering treat which requires you to lie down with cucumber over your eyes and do absolutely nothing for 20 minutes...ahhh heavenly!
To use the masque, simply cleanse your face with warm water. Leave it wet and apply the masque gently with the finger tips. Make sure that you avoid the eye and lit area.
Leave the masque on for 15 to 20 minutes and relax then rinse off with warm water. You can even light some candles, cut cold cucumber to place on your eyes and lie down and listen to some pan pipe music if the fancy takes you.
Or, if like me, you never seem to have the time for this, but still want the lovely effects of the masque, you could go for the cheeky slap it on and shower method described below.
I find that it's great to apply the masque before going in the shower. I put it on and then brush my teeth and head into the shower. By the time I have washed my hair and rinsed out the conditioner I can simply rinse off the masque under the shower. This actually works really well as the steam in the shower can help the masque to penetrate deeper into the skin. It's also less messy as you simply shove your face under the shower and let it all rinse off!
I must admit the shower method is my favourite, I feel a little silly putting on the masque and then lying around like the Queen of Sheba! However, after a stressful day, it can be a wonderful little 20 minute ME time!
~~~ Initial impressions ~~~
Opening the packet can be tricky - I ended up using scissors.
Look: The masque is a thick, creamy white colour and looks just like melted white chocolate!
Smell: It smells absolutely delicious. You instantly get a hit of vanilla and cocoa which is what gives it the white chocolate scent. It is very sweet smelling and it does indeed smell like something which you could eat!
Texture: The masque is very, very thick! I was surprised by how thick it was. I think this is something to do with the kaolin (a clay type mud). It feels very luxurious and kind of sticky.
On the face: It feels very soothing and cooling on the skin. As you have it on you can begin to feel it drying a little. Overall it just feels wonderful!
I should note here that the package is meant for one single use, but unless you have an un-naturally large face, one sachet would do two people or perhaps two separate uses if you had a suitable container to put half of the product into.
~~~ Effects of the Mask ~~~
The mask contains cocoa butter which is a smoothing, moisturising ingredient. It is one of the natural butters which melts right into the skin. It also contains Jojoba which is also an excellent moisturiser. The shea butter in the mask, similar to the cocoa butter, will sink into the skin and moisturise and smooth the face. Shea butter has lits of vitamin E in it which can help to improve skin texture and elasticity.
At first it is very smooth, cold and wet feeling but the masque gradually dried and hardens into that familiar face mask feeling.
When rinsing the mask off, I noticed that it takes a little while to remove all of the product. It dries out in the air and then, when water touches it, it instantly reverts back to the creamy melted chocolate texture, it feels really lovely! Afterwards my skin felt smooth and clean. I thought it might leave my face with that horrible tight feeling which some masks do but it did not. My skin just felt fresh and smooth and cleansed and smelled delicious - always a plus!
~~~ Conclusion ~~~
This is definitely a great little affordable luxury for general weekly use. They are cheap enough to buy regularly and the website had discount codes and offers which meant that I only paid 91p per mask! Bargain!
I will definitely be using this regularly as part of my skin (and soul) care routine. There's something very decadent about using a face mask! As someone who is about to start my first teaching post, I'm pretty sure I'm going to hit higher stress levels than ever before! Hopefully these little masques will help to bring me back to normality!
On my sons sports day at school some of the children were doing a raffle and in the spirit of things we were all buying tickets to win what we were told was going to be a facial. One of my friends jumped in as I was buying my tickets and we joked around with me saying there would be trouble if she won! Well, as it turned out she did win! I was quite thankful really as the "prize" was a homemade facial mask made from yoghurt and some kind of fruit and on a hot and stuffy day it was looking rather ripe to say the least! A couple of days after the event my friend who won the competition came to me with a Montagne Jeunesse facial mask as a bit of fun as she had won the other one! I was going to a wedding the week after she gave it to me so I vowed to save it until then. The product she gave me was the white chocolate variety which just sounded lovely.
==What is it?==
The Montagne Jeunesse range offers a variety of single packed facial masks designed for various kinds of skin.
This particular face mask comes packaged in a foil lined pack which shows a picture of a laughing lady on the front with the face mask on her face. This follows the theme of all of the other face masks by this company that I have seen. We are told that this white chocolate mask is an ultra deep cleansing mask and that it contains cocoa butter and cream. There is 17g of the mask in the pack which I also think is pretty standard. Instructions on how to use the product are on the back of the pack and are shown with pictures as well as single words in both English and French such as cleanse, apply, relax and rinse.
The product is not tested on animals and they do prefer to use natural ingredients in their products but they do advise to test the product on a small area before use to check for any irritancy.
As I mentioned I was saving this product for when I was going to a wedding but I felt it would be best to use the product a couple of days before the wedding just in case my skin did suffer some reaction to it. I wanted to make sure that I was properly relaxing so I ran myself a bath and then set about getting ready to use the product.
It is very easy to open the packaging that contains the mask as there is a slight rip on the pack which shows you where to tear it to open it. Once I opened the mask I began to squeeze some of the mask on to my fingers before applying it to my face. The mask is a creamy white colour and looks much like I would expect melted milky bar chocolate to look like. As I applied the mask to my face I was overwhelmed by the really sweet smell of white chocolate...it did smell just like it and it was really pleasant because of that fact.
I applied quite a thick layer of the mask all over my face but obviously avoided the eye area as advised on the packaging. When it was on my face I just had to go and show my son who found it hilarious that his mummy had a white ghost face! After letting him have a laugh for a minute or two I headed upstairs and got in the bath to relax. It is advised that you leave the product on for 15-20 minutes and so I just lay back in the water taking some time for me. I think the beauty of a product like this is that you DO relax whilst you use it if you let yourself. I am always rushing about trying to do housework, play games with my son and other things and I never really have any "me" time. Even baths can be rushed so it was nice just to relax for a little while.
I noticed that whilst the mask was on it began to feel tight on my face as the clay in the product became harder and started to set. It didn't feel uncomfortable in any way really but I wouldn't have wanted to have it on for much longer than fifteen minutes I don't think.
After fifteen minutes I rinsed the mask off my face and I have to say I was really impressed with the results. My skin felt soft and really cleansed and it also looked a bit brighter too which was a bonus. The effects of the mask lasted a couple of days and so I felt that my skin was at its best when I was getting ready for the wedding which was nice really. My make up was easier to apply I felt and lasted better than usual on those days after I applied the mask and I don't think this was coincidence at all.
These products cost around a pound from some supermarkets but I have spotted them in discount stores a little cheaper as well so it is worth looking out for them, or for them being on promotion which they often are in places such as asda. I think as a treat for your skin every couple of weeks this is a very good mask to use and I would certainly use it again as it had a good effect on my skin.
Thank you for reading my review!
The Montagne Jeunesse product range are all made from natural ingredients and from looking on their website they also aim to be as enviromentally friendly as possible with the packaging- a good start.
The White Chocolate masque comes in the customary attractive sachet. The sachets stand out on the store shelf and it was this that first attracted me to try their products.
The White Chocolate masque contains cocoa butter, Jojoba oil and Dead Sea Salt and claims to give an ultra deep cleanse.
On opening the sachet I was greeted with a delicious smell of white chocolate. It smelt good enough to eat, living up to the message on the packet 'you might be tempted to eat, but please don't' The sachet has a small, clearly marked tear off corner making it easy to open just the right amount to dispense the product in small amounts to apply easily. The mask it self is fairly thick and creamy in texture, making very easy to spread over you face in an even and thick layer. The amount of mask in the sachet is certainly generous, a little to much so in my opinion. There is a bit too much for one use even after I have covered both my face and the front part of my neck and keeping half back for another use does not work well as it becomes dried out quite quickly. I now tend to use an even thicker layer on my face and give it slightly longer to dry.
The smell and rich, smooth texture of the mask are lovely to have on your face and letting it dry is a pleasant experience. I did however have a slight issue with the product making my eyes sting and water if I put it on too close to them so I would advise staying clear of the skin around your eyes when applying it.
As the mask is drying it begins to crack but this cannot be felt.
Removing the mask was a challenge! such a think layer had not completely dried in the time advised to leave it on for so it could not be flaked of. It took me about 5 minutes using a face cloth to wipe of all the mask and the cloth had to go straight in the wash after!
The results were fantastic. My skin felt as though it had had a through detox and felt completely refreshed. My face looked radiant and felt well moisturised from the cocoa butter in the masque.
Overall this masque is fantastic and at just £1 each, well worth buying for yourself or for a girls night in.
The use of natural ingredients is also a very positive factor for me, the Montagne Jeunesse products in general are very environmentally aware and the natural products make the chance of irritation of my sensitive skin much less likely(although they do recommend that you test out a small patch before using the product.)
This product was a real treat for my skin and I will be using it again.
** Montagne Jeunesse White Chocolate Masque: Cocoa butter and cream **
Montagne Jeunesse was quite a few different kind of masks. They offer a wide range of different facial masks and even masks for your legs and foot. There are also a number of masks for scrubbing but you also have masks especially for men. The packaging is recognizable, clear and easy to work with. The masks come in many flavours, so there's something for everyone.
The packages of Montagne Jeunesse masks all have a special form. It is not a right forward package. Every package you see a lady (or man) who seems to enjoy the mask. With this package you can see a lady with green leaves on her eyes, and chocolate on top of it while having cream on her fac. On the back you can read how to use this mask and what kind of mask this is. It also contains the ingredients.
As the name suggests the main ingredient is cocoa. Perfect for a true chocolate lover like me. The mask has a relaxing effect in addition to a cleansing effect. The mask is suitable for dry, normal or combination skin that suffers from an oilier T-zone (forehead and nose). Besides cocoa, this mask also contains dead sea salt, Shea butter, glycerine and clay.
The mask is a thick substance with a slight grainy texture but it is easy to spread on your face and neck. The smell is obviously that of cocoa. Because of this it's important to massage the cream well into your skin. Before applying you need to make sure you skin is clean. Then you can apply the mask equally over your face. You need to make your fingertips wet and then massage the cream. You leave this for about 10 to 15 minutes and then you rinse your face and dry it.
A wonderful mask that gives my skin really gives a boost and the smell of cocoa is really pure and delicious. Afterwards my skin feels wonderfully soft and I certainly do think that it is cleaner. It was certainly relaxing! For anyone who wants to have a nice treat, I can really recommend this!
I have tried the Montagne Jeunesse range before and really enjoy using their face masks as they are fun and the lovely descriptions on the packaging makes them sound very appealing. I spotted this white chocolate one and couldn't resist giving it a try! I bought it in Boots at the cost of 99p for a 20g sachet. You can find these face masks in many other high street shops including Superdrug and Asda.
This item is described as a White Chocolate Ultra Deep Cleansing Masque with cocoa butter and cream. Montagne Jeunesse say "Smells so yum please don't be tempted to eat! Allow the Cocoa Butter, rich Cream and moisturising Jojoba to leave your skin deep cleansed and as smooth as the softest cream."
Recommended directions for use: Relax with this treat weekly. Cleanse, apply, relax for 15-20 minutes, rinse..
I like to give myself a good pampering when I am using a face mask, and with the right preparation and aftercare I have noticed my skin is clearing up and becoming more healthy looking and manageable. To begin with, I washed my face and make sure all traces of make-up are fully removed. I then went about applying the masque. The packaging opened easily which I was surprised at as I usually hate these plastic pouches and fumble around with the "easy open" tear strip for ages. You squeeze the pouch and the contents come out of the corner through the small tear, and it's simple to control how much product you want to come out of the packet.
The masque itself is very thin and smooth, making it extremely easy to spread onto my face. The liquid stayed in place well and didn't make a mess or drip anywhere when I was putting it on. The masque is white chocolate based, and as such has a rich, creamy white colour to it. It also smells strongly of white chocolate, but in a slightly sickly way as the scent is very overpowering. This was not very pleasant and sort of detracted from the nice relaxing experience that I usually have when using a face mask.
This should be left on for 15-20 minutes to allow it to really get to work on your skin. I left it on for the full 20 minutes and by this time most of the masque had become dry and there were slight cracks and ridges forming in the surface. The areas covering my cheeks were still moist and I think this may be because the layer of masque was slightly thicker there. This is quite a long time to leave a face mask on for, and I assumed that the effects must be more gentle, or that it takes slightly longer for the ingredients to penetrate the skin and get to work.
The masque washed off easily and I wasn't left with any white patches, although it did leave a sticky feeling behind and my skin didn't feel thoroughly clean. Afterwards my skin did not really feel much different to how it was before I used the masque. My skin felt reasonably soft and smooth but when I followed up with toner and moisturiser my complexion felt drier than normal and I had to use more moisturiser. In the following day afterwards I still had not noticed any real improvement to the condition of my skin.
A continuing issue I have with these masques is that the amount in each pouch is far more than you need to cover your face with one application and I hate to waste the leftovers. There are several options for how to use up the remaining amount of the masque, and it depends on the circumstance as to which would work best for you:
- Extend the area you are applying the masque to and include your neck. The masque should fully cover your entire face and neck from the contents of one pouch.
- Alternatively, use the leftovers on your hands or feet for an extra moisturising boost.
- Cover the pouch in cling film and put it in the fridge, as long as it is not overly exposed to air or heat this should extend the lifespan of the product and you could manage to get another application for your face the following week.
I had stored away half of my sachet to use for a second application. After the second application my skin felt pretty much the same as before and I still didn't notice any improvements.
This white chocolate face mask did not live up to my expectations, and seemed pretty average overall. I have previously used their regular chocolate face mask and that one was tons better and gave me fantastic results. Although this one wasn't so great I'll definitely be treating myself more face masks by Montagne Jeunesse, and I look forward to trying other products in their range.

I have tried many Montagne Jeunesse masks the past years, and as I loved the chocolate mask that the brand produced, I was delighted to hear about this white chocolate mask. Once it was released in Holland, I couldn't wait to buy and try this original facial mask. Did I have a "white chocolate" experience? Read my review and you'll know....

*How to use this mask*
If you are familiar with Montagen Jeunesse masks (or any face mask at all) you probably know that you have to clean your face before using a mask. I normally take a good facial scrub and shower so I am sure my face is cleaned well. The bag that contains the mask is a bit slippery, so I tend to tear the bag open with my teeth. Once opened, an extremely sweet and chocolate smell enters my nose. As I already know the other chocolate mask sold by Montagne Jeunesse I was a bit prepared for such sweet smell. The mask smells like white chocolate, thats for sure! The substance itself is pretty thick and once massaging the mask onto your face it stays on. I like this because I have had masks before that dripped off of my face which I find pretty annoying. The mask can be rinsed of after about 15 minutes.
After I rinsed my face my skin felt pretty fresh and has a nice sweet chocolate smell. That smell did go away after an hour which I think is okay as I wear perfume so another mix of scents isn't really neccessary. My skin did stay smooth and soft for the entire day so I did get the idea the mask had really done something good for my normally dry skin.
This mask has a fun-effect to it, because it has such an original smell and the packing looks funny as well. If you don't like sweet smells I wouldn't advice this mask but if you're a chocolate addict, this mask is great to try!
Well it was time to pamper myself again, after all these things need to be done! One thing I love to do apart from having a long soak in the bath is using a face mask. For the past six month now I have been purchasing face masks instead of going to the beauty salon in order to have a few pennies.
Montagne Jeunesse White Chocolate Face Mask:
'Ultra deep cleansing masque, with rich Cocoa butter'
Well as I'm a huge white chocolate fan I couldn't resist picking this one up, I also purchase the normal chocolate one too which is for my next pamper session.
Well so far my favourite mask has been the Montagne Jeunesse Skin Polisher and after trying this new mask the Skin Polisher is still my favourite. When first applying the white chocolate mask it didn't really smell like white chocolate but more like the alcoholic drink Baileys; which I didn't find to bad as I do like a tipple of that now and then.
As always it was a little messy to apply but that's part of the fun, it smoothed across my skin nicely feeling rather cool on my skin too. The cream was white in colour and had a very soft feel to it and felt lovely to apply to my skin.
Once I had covered my face I lay down on my bed for twenty minutes for the mask to do its magic, I found it really easy to relax, the cream still felt a little cool and I was enjoying the smell to go with it. I did a little patch test first as for some reason the Skin Tonics react to my skin but after ten minutes of it being on my wrist I didn't feel any reaction.
When my twenty minutes had passed I started to wipe the mask off with my flannel and some warm water; it was a little harder than normally to wash off and had to wipe a little longer but soon all came off. I was a bit disappointed as it made no different to my skin, however it was at this point my skin smelt like white chocolate!
I was hoping for a fresh, clean, smooth looking face but no! Nothing changed normally after I have used the Skin Polisher I see a difference straight away. After a few minutes had passed my skin started to feel a little tight so I had to go and moisturise my skin to get rid of the tight feeling, which again was a bit of a downer.
How to use:
Well it's a little messy - First you need to cleanse your skin, and then apply the facial mask all over your face. (Avoid eye and lip area)
Leave on your skin for fifteen to twenty minutes so put your feet up time; then rinse well and pat dry. It does say that this mask can be used as a weekly treat.
You don't need very much of this product so it would easily last you two applications, unless your like me and have to use the whole sachet.
Is gluten free
No added parabens
Vegetarian society approved
Cost and Availability:
I have spotted these masks in most supermarkets and places like Body Care, Boots and Superdrug etc the price ranges from 79p to most I've seen them at £1.49. You can also purchase them from their web site where they do packages too.
This was an ok mask but sadly didn't feel any benefits from it on my skin; it did however smell nice and felt nice applying. I would recommend this still as I find with these masks react different on other people's skin. Like with the Skin Tonics they sting my skin and left it red and blotchy but on my mom they work wonders on her skin.
Two of five stars from me.
Thanks for reading :o)
