I have started to use a lovely cream called L'Oreal Dermo-Expertise RevitaLift Day Cream which also has an SPF of 30, not that I think there is much call for sun protection at this time of the year, but I like to use a face cream which has at least some SPF in order to protect my skin from UV rays which are apparently there even though we can't spot the sun! This cream cost me £16 and this is for a 50ml pot. I buy mine from Boots though I have also bought a pot from Amazon with gift vouchers in the past and it cost slightly more.
This cream by L'Oreal is suitable for all skin types and it's been dermatologically tested. It's a rich thick cream but despite this it never makes my skin feel greasy or tacky as it is very quickly absorbed. The pot isn't too big but as I need only a tiny bit as it as it goes such a long way, a pot of this will last me for weeks, even though I use it every morning underneath my foundation.
The consistency is quite thick and it feels rich and creamy. It glides onto the skin and I have to say that I have noticed quite a big change to the brightness of my complexion since I've been using this cream. It smells fresh and natural and it's not heavily perfumed but has quite a delicate smell to it. It's pale orange in colour (which surprised me, as I was expecting it to be white, like my other L'Oreal skin creams) and it feels very smooth. I use it all over my face and neck (including the eye area).
I do think it's improved my skin's elasticity since I have been using it. It's evened my skin tone and it seems to really suite my skin type. It helps to make my foundation 'sit' better on my skin and it doesn't block my pores. It's very hydrating but it never makes me think that my face feels clogged after I have used it. I have also used it from time to time on the backs of my hands and it really does firm and tone the skin beautifully.
It lasts ages so though £16 seems like a lot of money, it's actually very good value for money in the long term. I would definitely recommend it if you are looking for an everyday face cream / moisturiser which is just that little bit more intensive.
My skin is quite oily and sensitive so I am quite particular but when I spend over £15 on L'oreal products in Boots at Christmas, I received a free goodie back. One of these 'goodies' was the L'oreal Revitalift Day Cream Total Repair so I decided to give it a try.
What does the product do?
The product is essentially a multi action moisturiser which promises to target the 10 signs of aging in one go. It contains vitamins to nourish the skin, boost cell renewal and improve the skins elasticity. It promises to leave the skin feeling silky, soft and smooth and to provide the perfect base for your make up. It also contains SPF20 to help protect your skin from sun damage and to keep it looking younger for longer.
What does it target?
The ten target areas for this cream are deep wrinkles, fine lines, loss of firmness of the skin, loss of tone of the skin and a lack of plumpness. It also targets age spots, an uneven complexion, uneven decolletage, uneven skin texture and also dryness of the skin.
How do you use the product?
The cream should be applied in the morning and two pumps are enough for the face. It should applied using strokes that move upwards and outwards from the centre of the face. You can then follow it up with your usual make up routine.
Packaging and Price
My free goodie came enclosed within a red plastic pot with a screw top lid. The full sized product comes contained within a red plastic pot which has some more writing about the product on the back and the name of the product on the front. It has a red lid which you pull off and the product has a pump dispenser which you push down on in order to dispense the cream. Mine was obviously free but the full sized bottle will cost you around £16 for 50ml. It can be bought from stores such as Boots and a variety of online websites.
Application and Performance
The product doesn't look like your average day cream. It is creamy orange in colour and has a rich consistency that is almost like a serum. It smells really lovely, having a fresh aroma rather than actually smelling like anything in particular and it is a lovely product to use. The consistency is silky and it glides across the skin without any pulling or dragging. Although two pumps of the product doesn't look like much, you really do any need a small amount of the cream to hydrate the whole face. It makes the skin immediately feel silky and soft.
Even though it's rich, it doesn't feel to heavy on my skin and it doesn't make my oily skin shinier or leave a sheen behind. It is very quickly absorbed by the skin so you won't have to spend ages massaging it in. It hasn't caused any blemishes to develop on my spot prone skin and it hasn't caused me any irritations. It makes my skin look healthier and removes signs of dullness and dryness. As for the signs of aging, I think it may be reducing my fine lines but then they are really fine and the change is minimal. It does seem to make my complexion more even too and overall my skin is at least looking healthier, if not younger.
All in all, the product hydrates my skin really well and although it is rich, it hasn't caused me to develop any blemishes or made me shiny. It is quickly absorbed and leaves my skin feeling silky, smooth and soft. It has made my skin better conditioned with no dullness or dryness and may have marginally reduced the appearance of my fine lines. I don't think it's a miracle worker on the anti aging front but then if it actually solved those 10 problems it would be selling for much more. That being said, I do think that this one probably would help to slow down any further aging.
This tub of L'Oreal day cream was a gift purchased at Duty Free so I don't actually know what it retails at but i know it is not a cheap product.
The packaging is straightforward and the china jar heavy and feels like a good quality product. The cream is a deep creamy yellow in colour and quite a thick consistency I would say. It has a pleasant smell but I could not say what of. I have been using the cream as a daily moisturiser over the winter months. I use it all over my face and neck after bathing in the morning. I have a combination skin and I would say it is quite a heavy cream for a day cream but as I am no longer in my thirties (shall we say?) this works well for me in the winter months. I would move to something lighter for the summer as it would feel too greasy and sweaty!
I have not used the night cream but can only imagine that would be very thick and heavy. This jar will last me about four months.
The name Revitalift suggests they may be claiming youth enhancing qualities.........it is fine but I still look my age sadly.
Overall I am very happy with the cream and would recommend it for people with similar combination to dry skin for use in the winter months. I would use it again but if I would actually pay the price myself I am not sure.
I have been using L'Oreal Revitalift Day Cream for over 2 years and I am very pleased with it. It is very light and once you have applied it to the skin, the skin feels smooth. It is absorbed very quickly. I sometimes apply it as a night cream too, as I have found out that many night creams feel very heavy and very greasy on my face. I do love using L'Oreal Revitalift Day cream especially during winter when it also prevents my face from feeling very dry in the cold and windy weather. It is a great product. The 50ml pot goes a long way. I also rarely pay full price for the cream (£14), but instead buy it in Tesco when on offer. Recently I have bought it in Argos for £5.59, but do check the internet and reserve it before going (had no idea that Argos sells skin products). Well worth the money.
~Does your skin need a little Dermo Expertise?~
Sometimes our skin needs a helping hand as it has to cope with many changes in the weather along with those everyday stresses that can effect how we look and feel about ourselves. Using a regular skin care regime that comprises of a number of good quality skin care products can very often make all the difference to your skin and although it can take some time to find a product that really suits, there is often something that can make a difference to overall skin tone, brightness and moisture levels. The skin care cream that I am using at the moment is from the L'Oreal Revitalift Dermo Expertise range which offers a nice range of skin care products that L'Oreal say can take you through all the steps needed in order to come out the other end with visibly improved skin.
These products which include the L'Oréal Dermo Expertise RevitaLift Day Cream are made to ensure your skin ends up looking brighter and tighter, less wrinkled and irritated, fully cleansed, toned and nicely moisturised.....HOPEFULLY! I cannot agree that the skin cream has fulfilled all its claims as I wouldn't say that it had any deep wrinkles to work on in the first place thankfully, so there hasn't been much change in that respect although I would like to think that the ingredients within this skin cream would help in that respect to some degree as thins like Elastin and Retinol A are included. I do agree that the L'Oréal Dermo Expertise RevitaLift Day Cream is a nice skin care product, that I have found easy to use and I feel pleased that it leaves my skin lightly moisturised and smooth feeling with no ill effects at all, meaning I would be more than happy to purchase it again.
~Why use the product?~
The L'Oréal Dermo Expertise RevitaLift Day Cream has been formulated as an easy to apply daily use facial cream that can be used as part of a wider skin care regime, or as a stand alone skin cream that will benefit from being used in conjunction with a good quality facial cleanser/ exfoliator. The boffins from the L'Oréal Paris laboratories have tinkered with the ingredients within the L'Oréal Dermo Expertise RevitaLift Day Cream so they say and they have reformulated it slightly making it more effective according to their advertising blurb. If I may quote what L'Oreal say about the product they state that they have enriched the L'Oréal Dermo Expertise RevitaLift Day Cream with 'Elastin' so that it helps to 'reduce the appearance of wrinkles and helps improve the skin's elasticity' leaving your skin feeling firmer.
In reality I have found that the L'Oréal Dermo Expertise RevitaLift Day Cream I have been using has helped to make my skin feel softer and smoother, although not too soft (which can lead to even teeny wrinkles being more easily spotted when make up is applied). The use of the cream on a daily basis has improved my skins moisture levels too, as after the face cream has been applied the L'Oréal Dermo Expertise RevitaLift Day Cream leaves my skin feeling nicely hydrated and visibly brightened with a light looking soft fresh glow to it. I am unsure as to whether the elasticity of my skin has been much improved as I feel that the unlined and wrinkle free complexion I had before still remains in place, so I will have to reserve judgement on that for a few more years although once again my feeling is that the product may help some users in that respect to some small degree.
~Give your skin a quick boost!~
L'Oreal say that the L'Oréal Dermo Expertise RevitaLift Day Cream is a good way to give your skin a boost 'unless you want a permanent face lift', and I would agree that by using a good skincare cream such as this one you should see some improvements to the general condition of your skin as I have, without having to resort to major work such as more permanent and invasive skin care solutions. L'Oreal tell us that from age 40 onwards our skin will begin to feel less firm and may need a helping hand in order to regain some of its youthful beauty. With the prospect of wrinkles and wibbly wobbly skin on the way for almost everyone over time, I feel that products such as L'Oréal Dermo Expertise RevitaLift Day Cream can only really help to hold back the years to a certain degree and we certainly should not hope that these products will be a 100% successful solution to all skin care issues that may arise.
To help us in our quest to reduce the signs of ageing, the use of products such as this which is a skin care product enriched with Pro Retinol A (something has been proven to be helpful when used in small quantities and should not be over used), which L'Oreal say is an 'advanced and innovative form of vitamin A', may help if used on a regular basis as Pro Retinol A is widely used in a good number of skin care products and treatments. To make sure that the L'Oréal Dermo Expertise RevitaLift Day Cream really works as well as it can there is also Elastin in the product which is there to help improve the skins over all elasticity and increase cell renewal, which L'Oreal says should leave us with firmer and more toned skin as they say that 'REVITALIFT reduces the appearance of wrinkles and makes skin feel tangibly firmer'. Once again I feel that I don't really feel there has been all that much difference in the elasticity of my skin as it seems to be holding up well enough as it is, however I do like the way my skin feels softer and smoother with a brighter lighter look even without make up.
~Did the product work?~
I feel that I have noticed some positive results from using the L'Oréal Dermo Expertise RevitaLift Day Cream each day for the last few weeks as it does make my skin feel smooth and softly hydrated when it has been applied, it also makes for a slightly better base on which to apply make up products with a smoother more pleasing result than when I have not used the cream. The texture of the cream is easy to work with and it goes onto the skin with very little effort needed to massage it in and help it become quickly absorbed. The scent that the L'Oréal Dermo Expertise RevitaLift Day Cream has is lightly synthetic and similar to many of the other L'Oreal skin cream products that I have used. This scented effect seems stronger when the product is in the jar than when it has been applied to the skin and after a few minutes once the cream has become fully absorbed the fragrance is barely there at all.
Since I began using the L'Oréal Dermo Expertise RevitaLift Day Cream I have felt that there has been an improvement in the overall appearance of the skin which has left a smoother and slightly brightened tone with a good amount of hydration. I like the way that the cream sinks into the skin quickly leaving no greasy or oily residue sitting on the skin surface and although the fragranced effect seems strong at first this dies down to nothing in a very short time once the product has been applied. The main benefits that I have seen have been mostly to do with the way that my skin seems smoother and less stressed meaning that any foundation that I apply after the cream when doing a full make up has a nice texture that doesn't look claggy or too heavy. I feel this is a real bonus especially as the weather is still effecting my skin and making it dry out as by using the L'Oréal Dermo Expertise RevitaLift Day Cream I have managed to avoid that nasty winter weather dry and cracked skin look that is often the case in colder weather situations.
~Presentation and ease of use~
The L'Oréal Dermo Expertise RevitaLift Day Cream product comes nicely boxed and presented in such a way that makes it very clear what product you are buying. As with many of the L'Oreal products I have purchased, I feel the box has a nice neat look which is slightly spoilt with the over use of too much text, diagrams and added information on all sides of the box including the base which carries a list of ingredients. The top of the box shows the L'Oreal logo with one side having a piccy of the skin cream, the other sides carry more than enough information on them for you to be able to decide if this product is right for your skin or not. The lid of the box opens easily and reveals the L'Oréal Dermo Expertise RevitaLift Day Cream in a compact yet weighty white glass jar complete with the usual heavy white pearly toned plastic screw top lid.
I have found that the L'Oréal Dermo Expertise RevitaLift Day Cream jar is easy to open and use and it takes only a small amount of effort to open and close the jar making it a product that those with a small degree of limited hand movement should find they are able to use with ease. Once the lid is off the inside of the jar has an inner lid which has a fiddly raised handle type fitment to it that you are meant to be able to pick up and remove with ease to allow you to get to the face cream underneath it. I have found that this little inner cover is fiddly and hard to grip onto and whilst I can see it is there to make sure the face cream stays in the jar rather than on the lid, it is annoying that the cover is so fiddly to remove. I would suggest that anyone with limited hand movement may want to discard this inner lid as it will make using the cream underneath it easier.
Once the inner cover has been dealt with the L'Oréal Dermo Expertise RevitaLift Day Cream comes into view with it being a soft textured creamy looking product that you can easily apply to the skin by dipping a clean finger into it and then taking out as much or as little of the cream as you need. The size of the white glass jar that the cream comes in is not too over sized meaning that you can hold the jar in one hand and take the lid off with the other with no mishaps, as the jar will fit into the palm of one hand with ease. All of the L'Oreal skin care products that I have used which come in these tubs or jars are protected with a simple gold toned sticky seal that has to be broken by twisting the lid open slightly in order to use what is inside the jar. If this seal has been broken when you check your jar of cream over, it means that the jar may have been opened prior to you having bought it, as it would otherwise still have the seal intact.
~Price and rating~
The cost of the L'Oréal Dermo Expertise RevitaLift Day Cream seems to sit at around £9.99 for a 50ml jar of the product although it is sometimes sold for less when it is on promotional deals in certain stores. Boots often give out £5 off skincare vouchers making the cream a good buy with a £5 discount. As the product has been easy to use with no ill effects I feel that is something I would buy again and although it hasn't lived up to all its claims I have found it to be a nice product which I have used in conjunction with the L'Oreal skin care wipes and the L'Oreal anti wrinkle eye care product from this range. With everything in mind the L'Oréal Dermo Expertise RevitaLift Day Cream gets a 4 star product rating which I feel is more than fair.
I wouldn't usually consider L'Oreal to be a brand that would appeal to me, but I received a free sample of this moisturising day cream and decided to put it to use. I am still in my 20's so don't really need something specifically tailored to anti-ageing and reducing wrinkles, as my skin type is still stuck in teenager mode and is mainly dull, prone to breakouts, with combination oily patches. L'Oreal's Revitalift anti-wrinkle and firming day cream is easily available to purchase from most high street beuaty retailers, and a 50ml jar costs £13.99 from Boots.
L'Oreal say: "anti-wrinkle firming day cream, enriched with Pro-Retinol A and Elastin, it reduces the appearance of wrinkles and makes skin feel firmer. Until you want a permanent lift, there's always Revitalift."
The moisturiser itself is a solid white colour and looks like any ordinary moisturising cream. I was surprised that the consistency of the lotion did not feel like I had expected it to, I thought it would be thick and heavy, but it was actually quite light for an anti-ageing cream. It had a fairly bland soapy sort of smell which did not really stand out or make it more appealing to me.
Upon applying the moisturiser I found that it spread over my skin very easily and I only needed to use a little amount. It didn't sink in instantly, and I did have to wait about 5 minutes before my skin was ready for make-up to be applied over the top of the moisturiser. Even after the cream had sunk in fully I was left with a shiny look to the skin although it did not feel oily to touch.
I was pleased to note that this was not heavy on my skin as some of the richer lotions I've tried before leave my pores feeling clogged. This cream has a light finish that is hydrating but not overly so. It is probably a bit too much for the oily parts of my skin, but it worked well on drier areas such as my cheeks and neck. The moisturiser left my skin feeling soft, touchable and even a bit more plumped. I think that with continued use this could have a noticeable firming effect, although I'm not too worried about wrinkles at the moment!
This moisturiser is just about right for a day cream and seemed to nourish my skin without overloading it. I did notice that the skin on my nose became oilier after use, but this is one of my problem areas and I normally prefer to use something aimed at combination/oily/spotty compelxions.
This is a good moisturiser that is easy to apply, sinks in well and hydrates the skin. It's nopt best suited to my current skin care needs, but this is one that I would consider looking to in the future. The key ingredients of Pro-Retinol A and Elastin helps to reduce the visible effects of ageing and I think this would really suit anyone who needs something to give their skin a boost.
The latest in my search for a good quality, effective and reasonably priced day cream, L'Oreal's (new formula) Revitalift Day Cream cost me £12.71, less a £5 money off voucher at Boots.
The cream comes in a stout 50ml pump-action bottle and professes to be both anti-wrinkle and firming thanks to its magic ingredients - Pro-Retinol A and Elastin (I'm a bit dubious). It is also SPF15, which I do rate in a moisturiser, being fair-skinned.
The bottle has a plastic cap (which I will break/lose within a week) and I almost fall at the first hurdle, until I realise you need to remove the little red plug - duh!
My first impression is that the amount that squeezes out is quite generous and thick and has a pleasant smell - not unlike Nivea. It applies very well and I don't even need a second pump to cover my whole face, which is great. (I was really annoyed by my last purchase, also reviewed, which took half a dozen pumps and needless to say didn't last long!) It absorbs quickly and feels light, whilst creamy. I am so far impressed.
The result is that my skin feels softer and a little taut. If I'm honest, I'm still not too sure about all these skin tightening products, it's not a sensation I enjoy, but I may need to adapt as everything begins to sag and wrinkle - I blame motherhood!
I will persevere as this is the best I've found yet in this price range and I am pleased with the results so far.
On a personal note, I think I just still miss my Clarins :( - 15 years, it was my longest love affair to date, but I'll get over it....eventually (and will try to stop mentioning it in my reviews for other products!) :)
I like this product and I bought it because it is an anti-wrinkle and firming cream for day use although you can also buy the night cream.
I have been using this cream for over a year now and I like the consistency of the cream, I like the creamy softness when its smoothed on the face. It glides on the face gently and does not pull or hurt the face.
The cream in my opinion does firm the face and it leaves the skin nice and soft.
It also has a nice smell and it lasts for months and I use it day and night although it is a day cream.
I first started using this cream to prevent wrinkles from happening and as yet I don't really have any.
The only one drawback is the container or the jar that the cream is in because it is bulky and not very user friendly. I think that this is the only drawback and I hope that L'Oreal will change the container because I like the product very much.
