“ Brand: Health Care / Texture: Cream / Type: Moisturiser / Skin type: for dry skin and for all types / What it does: Moisturizes, „
I have recently written a review for hand cream and mentioned that I suffer from dry skin, this has prompted me to also review a product that I include in my top ten finds. To give you some background, a few years back I started suffering from ecezma, it just flared up from nowhere, I had never suffered with more than general dry skin and hadn't changed any washing powders etc. I visited my GP on 3 occasions who said it was eczema and prescribed steroid creams to get it under control, each time it worked until I stopped using the cream, I would then go back to the GP who would prescribe a stronger steroid. After the third time I stopped going back and after reading lots of concerning articles on steroid creams stopped using them. After a few more weeks a colleague suggested a product that her friend, who had a similar condition, used and swore by called SkinSure. There are several skincare products in the SkinSure range. A standard lotion called Plus, an lighter everyday version called Daily, one which has an intensive antibacterial action called Ultra and an Aftersun. I should say at this point that these lotions are not made specifically for eczema, they are lotions for dry skin conditions which are suitable for people with ezcema and dermatitis. I have used the Plus - which is a purple bottle and the Daily (which is the green bottle seen in the picture), so I will write about both of these in this review. Skinsure Plus is an "Intensive moisturising antimicrobial skin protecting lotion". In other words it has a dual purpose - firstly it is an intensive moisturiser, secondly it is antimicrobial to fight bacteria which are often present with conditions like eczema and dermatitis. It has been proven to effectively kill bacteria such as E. coli, Salmonella enteritidis and Staphylococcus aureus. It is waterproof, easily absorbed, non-greasy and free from Steroids, Alcohol and Lanolin. It does contain 1% Triclosan. Aswell as the stated benefits of moisturising/antibacterial, I also found that if my skin was itchy it would stop the itching as soon as I applied it. The daily version is slightly lighter in feel. It is still free from Steroids, Alcohol and Lanolin and has the same benefits. I think it may have a lower % of Triclosan, but this is still listed in the ingredients. I use the daily one even if I don't have any eczema to prevent flare ups as it's an excellent moisturiser. Price and Availability. It is cheaper to buy this product direct from the manufacturer although I have also managed to order from my local Boots. The website has recently changed, it was www.skinsure.co.uk but this is now being rerouted to www.personalcaresupplies.co.uk. I have only ever ordered from the prior but have found it to be a good site with fast delivery. The prices have remained the same with a 200ml bottle of either of the above at £7.99 Every now and then they do a BOGOF or special offers, so if you like it it's a good idea to sign up to the newsletter. Thanks for reading.
