Hawaiian Tropic Lime Moisturizer and After Sun I love the Hawaiian Tropic brand. Their products always feel exotic and make me think of sun, sea and bronzed skin. So I bought this while in the scorching heat of Las Vegas this month. The bottle is a big one, its 474ml and it cost $8, about £6 in English. It is currently on the Boots website at £5.24 for a 200ml pot. Product description: Relief of pain and itching associated with minor burns, sunburn, minor cuts, scrapes, insect bites, or minor skin irritations. Hawaiian Tropic after sun moisturizer, lime coolada fragrance. Moisturizing Shea & Cocoa Butters.Exotic Island Botanicals.Soothing Aloe Vera. When the sun has set, wash off the sand and pamper your skin with luxurious Hawaiian Tropic After Sun Moisturizer.Ultra rich moisturizers are blended with exotic island botanicals, nourishing natural Shea and cocoa butters and soothing Aloe Vera.Skin feels silky soft with a fresh lime coolada scent. Directions for use: apply generously and evenly after showering or whenever skin feels dry. The bottle - The bottle does feel quite bulky and takes up precious room in my backpack (I'm traveling). I feel it would be easy to take around with me if it was in a regular bottle or tube but this is one that sits on the shelf. It has a pump lid which it good for keeping hands free from fiddly tube lids. I do like the fact the bottle is see through (although tinted green) so you can clearly see how much is left inside the bottle. The texture - Medium consistency when pumped out of the bottle but it does feel thicker, more of a paste when I apply to to the skin which I was surprised at. The physical feel on the skin is a little sticky at first but that fades after a few minutes and leaves you with a smooth feeling. You can certainly feel a cooling effect which is nice, especially if you've been out in the sun. The smell - The scent of this lotion is amazing. I love lime, so if you don't this probably isn't the one for you as the smell is fairly strong. It is also a long lasting smell and I notice it on myself several hours after applying. The results - This moisturizer is great for sunburnt skin and has a really good cooling effect. I really love the whole lime theme - colour and smell. I would buy this again but in a smaller bottle.
WHAT IS IT? Body butter from Hawaiian Tropic that works as an after sun also. THE PACKAGING Lime Coolada comes in a plastic tub that has got a screw on lid. It is like a pot in a pot because there is a thin see through layer of plastic and then a smaller green tub inside that is where the body butter is. I like that the tub is wide so that I can put my fingers in and get the butter out easy. HOW DO YOU USE IT? You can use Lime Coolada any time because it is very moisturising and you do not have to wait until the sun is out. I bought mine in October because I liked the smell of it in the shop and was not thinking it was going to be hot and sunny. You rub it into your skin like any body butter if you are using it as a moisturiser but if I used it as an after sun I think I would just use it for the areas of my skin that were feeling hot from the sun. WHAT I THINK I like this body butter because it is very rich and makes my skin feel very moisturised when ever I use it. It smells very beautiful but it is not as citrus as I thought it would be from the very green tub and the name of the product. It has got a buttery smell that is nice because it is soft and does not make my perfume smell different when I have applied both of them at the same time. It makes my skin feel very soft and smooth and that is as soon as I have applied it. It is very moisturising and you do not have to use very much to get good results on your skin, I have used other Hawaiian Tropic products before and I think that this one is the most effective at moisturising my skin. When I apply it as an after sun it does cool my skin down a little bit but it is not the best at doing that and I think it is best for me to use it just to moisturise my body. I used it when I had sunburn and I peeled very badly so even though it is very moisturising I think it is not so good at helping with the effects of too much sun. ANYTHING ELSE I bought my Hawaiian Tropic Lime Coolada body butter from my chemist and I paid £3.99 but it is a lot more expensive to buy online so you should try to look around for it. 4 Dooyoo Stars.
Before we jetted off last year on our summer holiday I made sure that I had stocked up on all the skin care essentials ranging from sun care cream, after sun and even lip care. One item I knew I'd need would be a decent body lotion or body butter because the sun combined with the sea can be quite harsh on the skin and team it together with my dry skin I just need a little help keeping it incredibly smooth and hydrated. I took advantage of the Boors 3 for 2 offer on their sun care range and managed to receive the Hawaiian Tropic Lime Coolada Body Butter as my free item with it being the cheapest. Now at £10.49 it isn't exactly cheap but I definitely felt that I'd got a bit of a bargain despite my sun creams were around £22.00 in total but it was certainly nice to get something quite expensive for nothing as lets face it I could quite have easily opted for a much cheaper item! == The Coolada == The Hawaiian Tropic Lime Coolada Body Butter is made by the well known sun skincare brand 'Hawaiian Tropic' and although I knew they had plenty of after sun products and sun creams I didn't know their range expanded to body butters and this is what this product is classed as. The Lime Coolada Body Butter has a formula made up of a somewhat tropical variety of ingredients being Aloe Vera, Cocoa, Mango and Shea Butter, Avocado Oil and Vitamins A, C and E. Which when combined altogether give a formula which is incredibly rich and moisturising. Hawaiian Tropic advise that it is a 12 hour moisturiser which is great especially for those like me who need a cream that will last. == Packaging == The Hawaiian Tropic Lime Coolada Body Butter comes in a very distinct bright lime plastic tube which is circular in shape and really does stand out from the shelf. It features the Hawaiian Tropic logo, product name and images of flowers which combined with the bright lime green colour do make it feel a little tropical. The product can be found next to the sun skincare products which is where it is in Boots. == In Use == The Coolada itself is a very very pale green colour which is lovely and has a very thick, almost whipped consistency which makes it easy to scoop out of its tube and apply to the skin. It's fragrance is incredibly creamy but not overly sweet making it actually quite yummy! It does have vague hues of lime as well as a subtle pina colada type fragrance which is really quite nice. The Coolada does as I have said quite a thick consistency but it is actually quite light to the touch when you have started applying it to your skin. Because it has shea butter in which melts up warmth/skin contact I find that the body butter does soften instantly on the skin and is easily rubbed in and absorbed despite it's initial thickness as I did wonder how easily it would be absorbed. However, the key with this is a little does go a long way as applying too much will leave you with a sticky, greasy residue to the skin. The Coolada does absorb easily into the skin and whilst it doesn't leave a greasy residue (as long as you don't apply too much) you can definitely tell you have applied it on the skin but it does leave your skin feeling incredibly soft. Over the course of my two week holiday I did use it religiously every day and my skin did feel incredibly soft for what seemed like hours upon end and by the last day of my holiday my skin looked incredibly moisturised and nourished. == Overall == Due to the Coolada giving such good results I have continued to use it after my holiday and I am still getting the same results which is great. Despite it being scented it hasn't irritated my skin whatsoever and instead keeps my skin feeling incredibly smooth and soft. Because I only apply a small amount each time I have found my tub has lasted quite some time - around 6 months so far which given it's expensive price has definitely given me value for money (despite it being my 'free' item from Boots!). Without a doubt a definite recommendation from me but I would suggest that you find it on offer or get it as part as your 3 for 2 in Boots as it is expensive for what it actually is and therefore I can only give it 4 stars. == Product Information == Brand: Hawaiian Tropic Price: £10.49 (Boots Jan 2013) Size: 200ml
