I do like using cleansing milk as I prefer the thin consistency and find that they usually do just a good a job as the more thicker concentrated products which I find sometimes leave a residue on my face. I find a good cleansing milk will remove all traces of make up from my face and leave it feeling refreshed and product free. I have bought quite a lot of Clinique products over the years and have always found them to be suitable for my skin and to last a long time. This Take The Day Off cleansing milk costs £17.99 and it comes in a purple bottle with a pump dispenser.
This cleansing milk has been dermatologically tested and I can say that it has never irritated my skin or caused any irritation. The liquid is white and milky in appearance and it smells fresh and clean without being too strong or overpowering. It is hypo-allergenic and does not contain any alcohol and it is supposed to give your skin a radiance as well as cleansing.
To use I will pump a small amount onto a cotton wool pad and find that you don't really need much as it seems to go a long way. It stays on the cotton wool pad without soaking right in and I find that one application is enough to wipe over my whole face and neck. I will use small outward sweeping motions starting at the top of my face going down to my neck and then will finish off by wiping around my eyes.
My skin feels soft and quite hydrated afterwards and I don't feel the need to use anything else straight away although I will use a moisturiser or night cream just before going to bed. I think that my skin does look smooth and bright with using this milk and the fresh clean feeling does last for some time.
I do like this cleanser and will continue to use it and would buy it again. It is a good quality product which is gentle but removes every trace of my make up and leaves my skin feeling clean and fresh.
I have been a huge fan of Clinique skin care for years and at one point used there 3 step regime religiously until my skin stopped absorbing the dramatically different moisturiser and it started to just rub into clumps and then peel off. So I tried the gel version with the same results. Then the anti blemish solution 3 step system made my already bad acne about 10 times worse after a couple of months use it also left my skin extremely dry and uncomfortable. ANYWAY... Not wanting to give up on my favorite brand and after reading tons of glowing reviews I thought I would try the Take off the Day cleansing milk at first I thought it was great the solution is not to heavy and removes EVERY last trace of make up incredibly quickly for a cleansing milk the one thing I didn't like about it then was the over chemically smell so unusual from Clinique I know there 100% fragrance free but the chemical smell is slightly over powering.
I used it almost daily for around 6 months without any problems then out of the blue after using it one night my skin started to feel tight and itchy. I thought it must have been the time of the year as it was winter I work in an air conditioned office so slapped a load of moisturiser on and ignored it.
Used it again the next day and the same thing happened and this time it started to sting quite a bit so I washed it off with a warm water, normally I would wipe it off with damp cotton wool pads.
The next morning my skin was red raw, itchy and really really quite sore. I lightly doused it was some water and slapped some gentle moisturiser on and didn't wear any make up. The redness and soreness progressively got worse over the course of about 4 days then a thin dry layer of skin started to appear covering my whole face which was incredibly tight and uncomfortable I literally couldn't smile it would pull so much and hurt, everything I put on my skin stung like hell! including the E45 cream my GP told me to use. Then after about a week it started to flake off and became so itchy I struggled to sleep and the E45 was still stinging like mad! It took around 3 weeks since the dry skin appeared to heal completely.
I wasn't convinced at first that it was Take of the Day even though I hadn't used any new products, I mean its clinique?! But I started doing patch tests on the back of my hand and on the inside of my forearm and within seconds the skin would go red and start itching. I also did the same patch tests with all my other facial products and nothing happened with those.
I asked a few people "in the know" and they mentioned a protein in Take of the Day that over time can suddenly cause quite sever reactions and they said they wouldn't recommend it to anyone for continuous use due to this as people like me who have never really had reactions to anything at some point are very likely to have a reaction to this.
I still use some Clinique products like All About Eyes cream and concealer but I will be staying clear of there facial skincare range in the future. Which is really annoying as I have loved Clinique for years!!
I usually get Clinque products as gifts for Christmas so will not be able to comment on the price of this product but I guess it will be out of my price-range.
The packaging of this product is sleek, clean and professional. The cleanser is dispensed via a pump method which works well and is easy to use. I usually dispense the product (usually 2 pumps) on to a cotton pad and wipe over my face starting from the centre and moving outwards. The scent of the product is very calming and relaxing.
Even after a shower when I have washed my face with a facial cleanser, this cleanser will still pick up missed dirt and left over make-up from off my face and neck. The only place where this cleanser does not pick up as much dirt are on the eye lashes but Clinque's Take the Day Off for Lids, Lashes and Lips will do that job more thoroughly and I usually follow up with that cleanser within my daily skin care routine.
By far the best cleanser I have used. It would be good if you didn't have to use a second product for the removal of more stubborn mascara. I have combination skin which isn't a problem for this product and I would recommend this to any one.
I am very keen on good skincare. If my regime is not perfect, I will break out in spots left right and centre. Unfortunately I have found the premium ranges of products (such as Clinique and Calrins) much better at controlling my skin. However this comes at a price! I love Clinique take off the day cleaning milk. It costs around £17 in a department store (they normally have offers on where you buy a couple of bits and get loads of little samples and bits free though) or you can shop around on the internet and get it a bit cheaper.
Clinique take of the day cleansing mil comes in a tall cylindrical bottle. The packaging is simple but funky, and it is clear you have bought quality. The bottle is slightly purple. It has a dispensing arm coming out of the top, which you press down to get a bit of the product out of. After a few practises you can easily get the hang of how hard you press, for how much you wish to get out.
The product itself is a whitey colour with a creamy consistency. The texture is incredibly smooth. I blot some onto a cotton wool pad and rub it onto my face, starting with my eyes to remove my make up. The cream glides on so easily and feels lovely and soft. It doesn't sting my eyes at all, or irritate them and they can be really sensitive with other cleansers. I end up using about three cotton wool pads for my eyes and face. This does a fantastic job and I just keep rubbing until the cream comes off clean!
After use my skin feels so silky and soft. I do use a wash on and off cleanser afterwards, because otherwise my grease builds up in my pores, but this is a fantastic product for the first steps. I would recommend it's use in conjunction with Clinique foaming face wash and Clinique dramatically different moisturising cream. The three perfect steps for awesome skin!
I've got extremely sensitive skin and I generally buy the Simple products as they're fragrance and colour free. However, I found that the Simple Kind To Eyes Make Up Remover made my skin feel very oily and greasy, despite it being naturally dry.
I was advised by my hairdresser to try the Clinque products as they're gentle on skin and they moisture as well as cleanse. I bought this Take The Day Off Moisturising Milk by Clinique from my local department store for £16.50, which seemed extremely expensive at the time compared to the £3 I would normally pay for the Simple products.
However, when I first used this product I knew it was worth it - I only needed to use two squirts from the pump to remove all of my daily make-up, that's foundation, powder, blush, eyeshadow, mascara and lipstick! From that first use I decided that it was definitely worth every penny - I knew it was going to last for ages.
The product itself has no fragrance so it's pleasant to apply, and the milk is quite thick and creamy. When I use this product I apply one squirt to a flat piece of cotton wool and wipe it across my lips and both my eyes, then use my fingers to massage my eyelids and lips in circular motions, before tissuing the excess milk and removed make-up away. I repeat this process but I spread the cream across my forehead, chin and cheeks, massaging in circles and tissuing away any excess. After use my skin feels refreshed and hydrated, completely moisturised and there's never a trace of my make-up left on!
I bought my first bottle last Christmas, when my skin is at its driest in the winter, and I'm only onto bottle number two and I use it around four times weekly. However, this of course depends on how much make-up you wear and how much moisturiser you have to use to remove it.
I will never go back to my old make-up products, I've tried a lot of the Clinique range now and I love it all! I would definitely suggest this product to anyone with quite dry or sensitive skin as it really does refresh and hydrate dry and cracked skin as it removes every day/night make-up. Sometimes I've used the product as a moisturiser when I'm not wearing any make-up and it just works wonders on my dry skin!
Being a fan of Clinique skin care products generally, I was excited to try this cleanser. I think the mark of a good cleanser is how well it sits on your skin. A lot of cleansers are quite thin and therefore, once applied to the skin can start sinking in - rather like a moisturiser. This one however stays on the surface of the skin and allows you to move it around the surface, thus picking up all the make up that you are trying to remove. It leaves your skin with a wonderful sheen and because of the thickness of the cream, you won't get through it too quickly.
The cleanser comes in a decent sized, pump action bottle. This is generally very handy, although once you are closing in on emptying the bottle it can become an absolute pain to dispense and will - rather annoyingly - involve lots of banging around to get the cream in the right position for the end of the dispener. So basically you have to line up the cream with the dispenser tube and as the cream is quite thick, this can take time.
All in all though I would highly recommend this as a cleanser as it really does remove all traces of make up. It cannot be used on eyes which is a little unfortunate, but if you have a good skin care routine in place then this shouldn't matter. It's a little more expensive than a lot of other cleansers available, but I would say this product is definitely worth the money as you won't get it through it as quickly as you would with other cleansers as you don't need as much. For me, the main reason I love this cleanser so much is because it makes your skin feel so soft and smooth afterwards. You're left with clean skin without that horrid tight feeling that you can often get after cleansing. I also much prefer cleansing with a wipe off cleanser like this one, as apposed to a wash off cleanser as I find it much less fussy.
I would suggest following this up with one of the Clinique clarifying toners that is best suited to your skin type, however obviously any toner would suffice.
Gentle, milky makeup dissolver removes even long-wearing facial makeup and sunscreens, then tissues off or rinses away with water. Residue-free formula leaves all skin types soft, comfortable. For all skin types; ideal for drier skins.
