“ Brand: Boots / Type: Cleanser / Skin type: for dry skin and for all types / What it does: Cleanses / Product line: Boots Botanics „
** Please note that Boots have rebranded this product as "All Bright Gentle Cleansing Cream" and the packaging is now different (as with most of the Botanics range) **
I was lucky enough to receive a set of the newly rebranded Botanics range from my SIL for Christmas containing Cleanser, Toner, Day Cream and Night Cream; all of which I shall be reviewing in due course.
No. 1 in any good skincare routine is cleanser. I use cleanser every evening and will do so even if I've worn make up that day as I find that wipes dry my skin.
The bottle is a slim white design with a pink / green floral design, holds 250ml and has a flip top lid with a reasonable sized hole for dispensing. There is also a reference made that the product has been developed with Kew Royal Botanic Gardens.
Claims to have natural hibiscus flower AHA's which act as a gentle exfoliator to leave skin brighter and smoother.
*Appearance and Fragrance*
The cream is white, not pink as suggested by the bottle due to the hibiscus extract. The smell is - as to be expected - mildly floral, but this is neither strong nor off putting.
*What's it like to use?*
In my opinion the cream is just the right consistency for application. That is, it dispenses out of the bottle well but is neither too runny to control nor too thick to spread. I tend to apply this with my hands and it warms really quickly. On days where I have worn make-up, I tend to go over my face twice and on the first application it is clear to see the make up being lifted. The second application is more out of habit but there doesn't tend to be anything left on my face. On make-up free days I am quite often surprised by just quite how much this product lifts.
I can honestly say that this product competes with some of the big boys out there. I definitely feel that using this alongside the toner made a marked improvement to the brightness of my skin. In particular, my T zone was much less oily and my cheeks much less flaky; meaning that makeup was much more easily applied. Value for money wise; I've used this every night since January and I still have ~1/4 bottle left. For £3.99 alone, or cheaper with Boots frequent 3 for 2 offers, this is, quite simply bargainous!
Botanics Skin Brightening Cleanser
So about a month ago at Boots there was some kind of special offer on, like 3 for 2 on skincare or something like that! And so I decided to treat myself, well not really treat, but anyways I got Botanics Skin Brightening Cleanser, for free - well thanks to the offer.
The main thing that attracted me to this product was the fact that it promised to brighten the skin. Well this is the main claims of the cleanser, taken off the back of the bottle: 'It works to sweep away make-up and daily grime to reveal a smoother, more radiant complexion that glows with health'. This all sounded perfect to me as not only do I want it to remove my make-up, I also wanted It to brighten my skin and leave it looking radiant, and so this cleanser sounded perfect for what I was looking for.
The cleanser comes in a see through bottle with a pump lid. Around the centre of the bottle there is a large label telling you the claims of the product, how to use it and the ingredients. Everything you need to know really. Overall the packaging is simple, and although it's maybe not as bright and exciting looking as say Benefit's packaging, it's a bottle that I think anyone any age wouldn't mind being on there dressing table.
To get the cleanser out you just pump down on the lid, and out comes a whitish cream. The smell of it is quite natural, I would describe it as smelling like a moisturiser, if that makes sense to anyone who knows what I mean by that.
The cleanser is quite a thin consistency. I pump one blob onto a cotton pad and wipe it on my face and it seems that a little goes a long way with this cleanser, so don't go pumping loads of it onto your face at once.
It takes me a few pads to get my make-up off - don't get me wrong,I don't slap on loads of make-up, I just like to make sure that all dirt and make-up are off my face completely!
I am very happy to say that this cleanser gets rid of all my make-up, when I wipe the pads over my face, my make-up wipes off easily with no hassle. Its also gentle on my sensitive skin, and I also think it's quite moisturising for my dry skin.
After I have used this cleanser to take off my make-up I tend to wash my face briefly with water just to make my face feel fresher. I also do this as I feel the cleanser is still kind of on my face if that makes sense, and so I have to use water to make sure my face is thoroughly clean.
The only problem I have with this cleanser is that I haven't really noticed my face looking brighter or more radiant. That might only be because I only use it at night, and after I use it I wash my face with water. So it might work better with other people who use it more regularly and who don't wash their face after using it.
Overall I do really like this cleanser. It gets rid of all my make-up easily, it's gentle on my sensitive skin, it's moisturising and it's a reasonable price. The only downside I would say is that my skin hasn't looked any brighter, and that's why I can only give this cleanser 4*.
This cleanser costs £4.07 for a 250ml bottle, and you can buy it from Boots.
As somebody who has had dry skin for as long as I can remeber I have tried numerous skin care products. Previously I had settled with the Nivea range but I was attracted to trying something more natural in hope of getting rid of dry skin once and for all. The first thing that I liked about this product was the amount you get, 250ml, this tends to be more than most competitors especially for the price. I also liked the pump bottle, it seems to make it less of an effort to use.
When using this product, which tends to be usually twice a day, I found that one pump from the bottle is plenty to cleanse my whole face and neck. It is refreshing and cooling and pleasant to use, and has a nice mild frangrance. It removes make up easily including eye make up. I believe this cleanser is excellent for sensitive skin.
I have noticed a difference in the quality of my skin, it is noticibly smoother and brighter. I intend to stick with this product in furture. I would also recommend usin with Bontanics toner.
I really like the Boots Botanics range, I find their products to be of quite a good quality and considering their cheap price compared to some big names, they offer surprisingly good value for money. I recently reviewed the Botanics Organic cleansing balm, which I likened to that of Lush's Ultrabland cleanser and find to be an excellent product. However the Skin Brightening Cleanser has long been a favourite of mine and is one I will always stick with.
The Botanics Skin Brightening Cleanser comes in a large 250ml pump bottle, and whilst pump bottles can often annoy me, I've never had any problems with this one. The packaging fits in with the rest of the Botanics range, a while and pale green colour and whilst quite basic, it also seems to pull off the image well and does seem to convey a good quality image.
The Skin Brightening cleanser promises to gently cleanse and renew and it suggests that Sweet Maple, Bilberry and Sweet Cane brightens the skin. It states using this morning and night will give your face a bright start and finish. It will sweep away all make-up and grime to reveal a smoother complexion that glows.
I tend to use this cleanser every morning, as on an evening I tend to use a face scrub to clean my face. I have been using this on and off for around 2-3 years, and when I do try another brand I always come back to this cleanser as I much prefer it.
On a morning I pump a couple of times onto a large cotton wool pad, then simply start sweeping it across my face. Straight away I start feeling more awake, and the shine on my face is wiped off leaving my face feeling really clean and smooth. A big thing with this cleanser for me is that it's just so gentle. I use it every morning and it doesn't sting the face at all, and it's so gentle I also wipe it across my eyes to help wake them up. It's also not too runny, but not too thick on the skin and it has just the right consistency for me. I find it easily rubs into my face wiping away any dirt and grime but it doesn't leave behind a greasy residue.
After using this my face always feels nice and soft and smooth, but I can sometimes feel it on my skin afterwards. This is never a problem for me though as I always use a toner afterwards, leaving my face feeling fresh but still soft and smooth.
I have found this to be the best cleanser for me and it's always one I go back to. Another great thing is a bottle lasts me ages, and I'm talking about a good few months. It costs £3.91 from Boots however there is ALWAYS an offer on this range, whether it's a third off or 3 for 2 there is always something on. Because a bottle lasts so long I just think it's amazingly good value for money and I couldn't recommend it enough.
A gentle cleanser which visibly removes any grime from your face, and leaves it feeling so soft and smooth.
