As happens to so many of us having decided that my current location is not where I want to live anymore I've started a process of decluttering my flat and attempting to use up the random oddities which live in my toiletries box, this Mango Body Whip is one such item sought out after attempts to use up an old shaving gel resulted in my legs becoming very dry. As with many places my workplace holds a Secret Santa so that staff only have to buy one Christmas gift each, last year I quite fortuitously was given a Body Shop gift set of Mango scented items - fortuitous as I adore Mangoes and as admitted by my santa later on they had no idea that I actually liked the scent! I am more familiar with Body Shop's range of Body Butters than the Whips which are a lighter more liquid moisturiser. The bottle of Body Whip in the set contains 60ml of product, which is enough to last me ages as I rarely use moisturising products since I'm lucky enough that a moisturising shower gel usually suffices. Though given the volume of the bottle it would also be perfectly acceptable to take with you when travelling by plane and would given daily use last around a week with sparing use. Opening the flip top on my first impression is of a rich fruity mango scent, strong but not overpowering and smelling fairly natual I was impressed as often fruit scented products smell terribly artificial. Squeezing the plastic bottle to dispense the whip the small squirt of pale orange coloured moisturiser. Smoothing it on to my legs the whip quickly sinks in to my skin leaving a distinct but not overly strong scent of mango. The morning after my legs still feel moisturised but the scent has completely gone. I was slightly concerned that as I had only just shaved the Whip may have caused irritation but it did not do this. I won't make a big deal over Body Shops green credentials as the ingredients list for this product shows that this is not entirely true, but they do despite being a part of L'Oreal maintain their stance on never using products tested on animals and using Community Trade products where possible. In the case of this product Brazillian Babassu Oil. Currently you can buy a 250ml bottle for £3 while a similar gift set to the one I recieved will set you back around £6 (for a shower puff, Body Whip and Shower Gel). Ingredients listed below for those who prefer to check these things out for themselves. Aqua (Water) (Solvent/Diluent), Helianthus annuus (Sunflower Seed Oil) (Emollient), Stearic Acid (Emulsifier), Talc (Absorbent/Bulking Agent), Glycerin (Humectant), Orbignya oleifera (Babassu Oil) (Emollient), Coco-Caprylate/Caprate (Emollient), Dicaprylyl Ether (Emollient), Mangifera indica (Mango (Mangifera Indica) Extract) (Natural Additive), Corn Starch Modified (Skin Conditioning Agent), Parfum (Fragrance), Phenoxyethanol (Preservative), Pentaerythrityl Distearate (Skin-conditioning Agent, Emollient.), Acrylates/Vinyl Isodecanoate Crosspolymer (Acrylates/Vinyl Isodecanoate Crosspolymer) (Emulsion Stabilizer), Sodium Hydroxide (pH Adjuster), Sodium Polyacrylate (Film Former/Viscosity Increasing Agent), Glyceryl Stearate (Emulsifier), Methylparaben (Preservative), PEG-100 Stearate (Surfactant), Limonene (Fragrance Ingredient), Linalool (Fragrance Ingredient), Hexyl Cinnamal (Fragrance Ingredient), Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane (Avobenzone) (Sunscreen), Disodium EDTA (Chelating Agent), Butylparaben (Preservative), Ethylparaben (Preservative), Butylphenyl Methylpropional (Fragrance Ingredient), Propylparaben (Preservative), Isobutylparaben (Preservative), Citronellol (Fragrance Ingredient), Benzyl Alcohol (Preservative), Citral (Fragrance Ingredient), Geraniol (Fragrance Ingredient), CI 19140 (Colour), CI 15985 (Colour).
The mango body butter from the Body Shop is absolutely gorgeous as are some of the other products in the range such as the shower gel. The Whip Body Lotion is part of the same range and although as a body lotion it is lovely it just isn't the same sort of quality as the body butter at least not in my opinion. The whip body lotion costs £8 for a 250ml bottle which is enough to last a few weeks even using it every day. It has a pump action dispenser so that you don't waste loads of lotion. I really like the pump dispenser as it gives just the right amount of lotion so that you don't have too much on your hands and I also think it is much more hygienic. This has a gorgeous consistency for a body lotion because it is a lot thicker and less runny than some lotions but it isn't too thick that it takes ages to absorb. I can use this in the morning after my shower and be ready to go almost instantly without having to wait around while it absorbs. It doesn't leave any greasy residue on my skin and it leaves my skin feeling lovely and soft. It isn't as rich as the butter which has its pros and cons. It is rich enough to moisturise my skin daily but if I was feeling really dry I would want something a bit heavier. The reason that I just don't think this is as good as the butter is because it just doesn't smell as nice. It is a nice smell but it is more fake smelling and less natural than the body butter. I also think it is much sweeter and lacks the rich creamy scent that the butter has. It is nice enough but I can definitely tell the difference as it just smells cheaper and less luxurious. I think as a moisturiser it is good but I bought it for the smell and it let me down slightly in this department and I think paying £8 just for a moisturiser is too much when there are loads that moisturise just as well as this for much less money.
I have loved The Body Shop's range of skin care products for quite a few years now, and while I regularly purchase their body butters, I have only quite recently got around to trying the body lotion. I actually received two bottles of it last christmas, but this review will be for the mango scented one. I decided to try this one first because I love the smell of mangos! The other flavour that I got was strawberry and because I already have a lot of other strawberry scented stuff from the body shop I already know what it smells like so I thought mango would be a nice change! The body lotion comes in two different sizes - a tiny mini version which is 60ml and retails at £3 and 250ml which retails at £8. I have the full sized 250ml version which actually isn't that much - the bottle isn't that big, and you don't get that much for your money and personally, I wouldn't have bought it myself because £8 is a little steep in my opinion so I am thankful that I received it as a prezzie! The body lotion is described by The Body Sop as a mango scented body lotion which is 'lightly whipped'. The term lightly whipped I find a little odd, as this is obviously a skin care product rather than food. It does sound delicious though, and the smell makes it almost good enough to eat! I love the smell of it, and I find myself sniffing my hands and arms after I've applied it haha!! The packaging for this body lotion is very simple but it is a nice design and I find the pump design really handy as it stops too much product from coming out and is more hygienic than dipping my hands into a tub of product like I do with my body butters. The consistency of the body lotion reminds me a lot of the body butter but not as thick. It is still very thick, but light at the same time and it is very easy to rub over my skin as the texture is very smooth and silky. The body lotion leaves my skin smelling amazing, and most importantly it leaves my skin feeling fresh and moisturised. It is ideal for using after I've had a hot bath to stop my skin from drying out (I have eczema and baths that are hotter than luke warm tend to make it flare up). I don't need a lot of it to feel the effect and a little goes a long way. It leaves my skin feeling very smooth, soft, silky and like I said, fresh. Fresh may seem like an odd word to use to describe a body moisturiser but my skin just feels that bit more freshened up - it's hard to describe! I think it's down to the smell, which is a gorgeous, sweet, fruity scent which definitely smells like mango. Although this obviously isn't as thick as my body butters, I find that it is just as effective as them in hydrating my skin, and it is pretty much just as intensive - I often have very dry skin to the point of it being almost flaky and this instantly takes any dryness away, without leaving greasy or sticky residue behind. I love this body lotion and I recommend it, though I do think its a little on the expensive side.
Up until recently I have never been a fan of The Body Shop. I like the ethics behind things i.e being cruelty free and kind to the earth and so on, however over the years lots of ranges have popped up offering similar things at usually a cheaaper price in allsorts of stores. However in Weston Super Mare we lack shops and as the months roll by we lose more of them. Basically when it comes to toiletries we have Superdrug, Boots and The Body Shop and of course supermarkets and so on but no LUSH! I would never have gone into The Body Shop a couple of weeks back, its ust wouldnt have crossed my mind but big red and white sale boards hanging in the window enticed me in! However I did end up buying rather a few products that were on sale but of course ended up buying rather a few of things that were not included in the sale, including this one (which of course is their plan lol). I did feel it was pricey at £8.00 for a 250ml sized bottle however I liked the fragrance of it and when I tested it on my arm liked the moisturation it give me which lasted ages! The Product: Well like I have already said it comies in a 250ml sized bottle and that bottle is a clear plastic one with a little arm to the top of it which is the push button dispenser and a bit flimsy really for the price it costs so I have to be gentle with it. On the front of the bottle we are told what it is, who it is by and the size (as I have listed already) then on the back of the bottle contact details for The Body Shop are given and not much else. I like the fact I can see the product through the bottle though so I can see when I need a restock! Using It: Basically you just apply this at any time of day and whenever you want to. This is a light formulation of a body lotion and is runnyish and not too thick at all. Its a peachy colour and smells wonderfully of exotic sweet mangoes which is what drew me to it in the first place as it is a fruity, summery scent and really lovely. A little of this goes a very long way indeed as on contact with the skin it is initially a bit greasy but dries very quickly indeed. I can't feel any residue as such on my skin but skin is left feeling supple, smooth and fragranced for hours. I like the way that this makes my skin feel, sort of moisturised from the inside out and I like the ease of use this has to it being so easily absorbed. Yes £8.00 seems a lot to fork out for a simple moisturiser but my skin thanks me for it and I would certainly treat myself to a bottle of this in the future when finances allow of course! Only available from The Body Shop and from www.thebodyshop.com This review is also posted on Ciao under this same username.
Everybody who knows me understands my love of the Body Shop and so for Birthdays and Christmas I will often be given gift sets and items from this shop. One such gift was a bottle of this Mango Body Whip, a useful and very edible smelling present which I continue to use again and again. **The Product** This product is a lightweight body moisturiser which is less creamy than your traditional body butter and yet still manages to moisten the skin and make it feel more supple. The body lotion comes packaged in an upright plastic bottle which is topped with a plastic press down pump. The pump concept is great in my opinion as it enables you to pump out the exact amount you require every time. The packaging for this product is typical of the Body Shop and maintains a modern yet stylish looking design with the Body Shop logo emblazoned on the front of the bottle and an illustration of fresh mangoes around the bottom. Inside the bottle, the moisturiser is clearly visible, being a creamy peach in colour. **The Body Shop Claims** The Body Shop claims that this lotion has a light whipped texture which hydrates the skin to leave it feeling soft and smooth. **The Moisturiser** Once you have worked out the method with which to open the bottle (I struggle with most pump concepts) the moisturiser comes easily out of the spout of the pump being a light creamy consistency. The consistency is rather similar to that of your average body moisturiser and is not thick and heavy like body butter. It is the smell of this lotion which makes it so special and it is perhaps unsurprising that this moisturiser smells predominantly of mangoes. However; there is also another scent that I find traceable that being a very sweet and almost sickly sweet sugary smell. The scent off this lotion sinks into the skin and leaves it smelling sweet for hours after use. **Ingredients** This body whip contains a number of ingredients, the key ones being mango pulp, mango seed oil and babassu oil. **Price and Availability** The body moisturiser comes in a 250ml bottle from the Body Shop and costs £8. This price is neither too pricey nor too cheap in my opinion and I consider it quite a good investment given that a bottle will usually last me for a couple of months. It also looks great when sat beside your bathroom sink as an unobtrusive hand moisturiser. **Use** The Body Shop recommend that this body whip is used by massaging into the skin, leaving to sink in and then dressing. Obviously this very much depends on the users' lifestyle as to how and when they apply it. I prefer to apply a dollop to my limbs and chest area after having a warm bath as I find that this gives me that lovely clean feeling before bed. It also means that my pyjamas smell yummy too. The cream rubs in easily into my skin leaving it feeling moisturised yet not at all greasy and it sinks into my skin within minutes allowing me to dress quickly. **My Experience** I love using this product purely for the moisture it gives to my skin and the sweet and feminine scent it leaves. The product is useful as an all over moisturiser or to simply rub into my hands after washing them and the light whipped qualities mean that it skins into my skin easily and leaves my skin feeling soft. I have used this moisturiser on normal skin but also on skin that has been shaved and waxed and have found that it does not provide any irritation or itching as many other fragranced creams would. My only criticism of this product is the bottle design, which although makes the body whip easy to use also means that a small amount of the cream is wasted towards the end of its life. The moisturiser tends to stick to the bottom of the bottle making it unreachable for the pump. I would recommend this body whip as a useful everyday moisturiser to hydrate the skin without leaving it feeling greasy. In particular this whip is great if used after a bath or before an important occasion as it will leave you smelling sweet and clean without having an overpowering scent. This product scores a good four stars out of five from me. Thanks for reading! x
I first tried this body lotion in store a few years ago. I would always admire the lovely smell and texture but would always say "Oh...I'll buy it next time". Oh how I regret putting it off for so long! --- Design --- The bottle is plastic and quite large, approximately 15cm height and 5cm diameter. The bottle is operated by a pump located at the top of the bottle. The Body Shop logo is clearly but delicately displayed in the top left hand corner. The lotion is named Mango Whip Body Lotion. The name and description are also written in French, underneath. The bottle contains 250ml. The colour of the lotion is a soft creamy yellow, but not too bright. --- Application --- To apply the lotion just pump the top once or twice. Either rub together in your hands before applying or apply straight from the bottle. It is very simple and quick as the pump is not stiff. --- Product --- The first thing you notice about the lotion is the smell. It smells GORGEOUS!!!! There is a soft mango smell and it is not overpowering. It smells exotic and instantly makes me think of a beautiful beach. It feels creamy and thick but in reality is it light and lets my skin breathe. My skin always stays moisturised for hours after. This lotion makes skin really smooth, soft and a pleasure to touch. This product is really good for dry skin. It moisturises really well and stops skin from drying out, especially in the winter during the cold months. Because you only need to pump the bottle once or a maximum of twice, the lotion lasts a really long time. I have had mine for over four months and I use it at least once a day. --- Price --- The lotion costs £8.00. Considering that it lasts a long time, this is really well priced! If you are buying this as a gift...even better! It is well worth the price! --- Conclusion --- I 100% recommend this product. It is so worth it! I have got so much pleasure out of using it. The smell, texture and benefits make this product perfect!
==Price and Availability== Since moving in with my partner, we seem to have an endless supply of lotions and potions in the bathroom and we both have loads of products. This also means that I've been able to try loads of new bits and bobs without paying out for them. One of the products I've been trying recently is The Body Shop's Mango Whip Body Lotion which is available online and in store and costs £8, which for a body lotion I think is quite expensive. ==Mango Whip Body Lotion== The body lotion comes in a 250ml clear plastic bottle, which is handy for seeing how much you've got left. There's a screw on/off pump top lid to the bottle which is great as you never end up with more than you need as only a small amount is dispensed at a time. The bottle has a very simple design with the main colouring being the light orange lotion inside along with a picture of some juicy looking mangoes cut open. The light lotion claims to leave skin soft and smooth as well as having a light texture and like all Body Shop products it isn't tested on animals. ==My Experience== As I said previously when using the lotion the pump top means it's easy to dispense just enough. I always apply the lotion after showering and my first thought is how lovely and fresh the scent is, I thought it might be quite sickly sweet but it isn't at all. The lotion feels lovely and smooth as I put it on and I was surprised at just how little I needed to use, it also absorbed really quickly which is obviously a big plus point. The scent lingered on my skin all through the day, it's a lovely scent, and it's very summery which has really brightened up my wintery mornings. Although I chop and change between body lotions and never really use the same fragrance more than two days running Mango Whip is one of my favourites and I do use it a lot. My skin feels lovely and soft after use, especially problem areas like elbows and knees and for me, the tops of my arms. Just before Christmas my bottle I was having difficulty getting any lotion from my bottle, I was going to buy a new one until I cut it open to find about a quarter of the bottle still in there so it's worth doing. ==Overall== I really would recommend Mango Whip Body Lotion; it's got a lovely fresh and fruity scent which lasts all day. Although at first I thought £8 was expensive, it really does last for ages, especially if you cut open the bottle. The pump top is great for just getting the right amount although I can see the advantages of an upside down bottle as I should imagine people just chucking away 'empty' bottles would have a lot of waste. My skin feels lovely and soft after use so for me, it does a great job.
I love this lotion, it smells like Hawaii or a Jamba Juice smoothie! It comes in a very nice bottle with a nice little picture of mangos on the bottom! Its really soft and doesn't irritate my skin at all. I love to put it on after I take a shower because it makes my skin really soft and nice! I reccomend this lotion to anyone that likes soft, creamy skin and a tropical, delicious smell! If you have really sensitive skin, it might be hard for you to wear but the body shop typically makes some really good products that aren't tested on animals, which is really nice! It's a lot better than bath and body works stores lotions because they are sometimes tested on animals which is cruel and mean. I reccomend this to any girl/ boy/ man/ woman/ that loves to smell good, feel soft and have a good sunny attitude!
I am a Body Shop Fan and rarely can I walk past a shop without having to go in to have a look about to make sure I'm not 'missing' anything. One of my favourite Body Shop products is their Mango Body Lotion. I simply love this rich, luxurious body lotion and it feels so lovely on my skin after a bath or shower. I like to buy the largest bottle they have which costs me £8. Yes, I know, it is a little bit on the expensive side, but if I can't treat myself then who else will? This body lotion looks very much like a bottle of hand wash in the way it is packaged. It is in one of those clear, see-through plastic pump dispensers. The dispenser is very easy to use, just twist it slightly to the right the first time you use it and then it plunges down with ease and delivers a decent sized amount of lovely rich lotion. I like to use Mango Body Lotion all over my body after I have bathed or taken a shower, but I pay particular attention to my 'dry bits' i.e. my knees and elbows and my shins (but only in the winter, for some odd reason). I find this rich cream is very easily absorbed into my skin and the smell is to die for. If you asked me to close my eyes and guess what fruit this is, I would guess correctly each and every time. I adore mangoes (to eat, I mean) and this lotion really does smell like the real thing. I have found that I only need to use a small amount of lotion and it lasts me ages before the bottle will run out. The smell is long lasting too and I find that the smell will linger on my body through most of the night. It does dry off quickly too and I am not left feeling I need to walk around with my arms and legs to the sides whilst I dry off! I also use it as an occasional hand cream and again it works well without feeling sticky or gloopy. As I say, I do love Body Shop products. This is not tested on animals (as is the case with all Body Shop products) and I really do recommend this gorgeous body lotion. I'm hoping someone pops one in my Christmas stocking! *HOW I CAME ABOUT THIS PRODUCT* Last year, one of my friends purchased a body shop gift set as part of my birthday present. This Mango Whip body lotion was part of the set, but in a smaller (60ml) size. I loved it so much I decided to purchase a normal (250ml) sized bottle for myself. *THE PACKAGING* The lotion is sold in a clear plastic bottle, similar to the shape of other body shop products. The bottle is quite sturdy and will not easily break. On the front of the bottle was can see the Body Shop logo and the basic information about the product, along with a picture of mango slices. On the back we can see the barcode and ingredients. The bottle can be recycled after you are finished with it. *THE SMALLER BOTTLE* The smaller bottle has a sturdy flip top lid. The hinge is sturdy enough to remain attached to the bottle for as long as this product lasts. The plastic is quite thick so it can be difficult to squeeze the lotion out of the bottle, but with a quick shake it comes out fine. This is a good size for travel or if you are just testing out the product for the first time. This 60ml bottle costs £3, but it can be bought in various gift sets for different prices. *THE BIGGER BOTTLE* The larger 250ml bottle has a plastic pump, this dispenses the lotion quickly and I have never had problems with product not coming out the pump. I personally prefer the bigger bottle because if you have got the lotion on your hands it can be slippery and with the bigger bottle you don't have to pick it up and try and squeeze some out. It is much more convenient with the pump. This 250 ml bottle costs £8.00 from the Body Shop. You cannot get all the lotion out of either of the bottles when you are near the end, so you have to waste a little bit, because even standing them upside down will not get all the dregs out of the bottom of the bottle. *THE LOTION* The actual lotion is of yellowy colour and of a very thick consistency. The lotion can be cold to apply, but this may be due to where you keep it. I find that the cold feeling is refreshing and cooling, but if you want it to be warmer, you can just rub it between your hands to warm it up before applying. The body lotion is not too thick that it doesn't soak in, but it isn't too thin that it is runny. The thickness of the lotion helps it spread nicely on your skin, so I would say the consistency is just right. *APPLICATION* I would recommend using this after a shower, because the moisture will last, and keep your skin hydrated. This lotion doesn't specify not to apply this too your face. I have never had any problems with using on my face, but because the lotion isn't specially designed for use on the face, I wouldn't recommend if you have sensitive or problematic skin on your face. You don't need much product to cover a large surface area of skin, because it is thick. A few pumps will be enough, this means it lasts longer, which is always good, because it's not the cheapest lotion out there! *THE EFFECTS* The body lotion smells of mango, the smell is not too strong, but can still be smelt after application, for quite a while. After application is sinks in nicely and doesn't leave a sticky or greasy residue on the skin. The 'velvety moisturisation' lasts a long time and leaves your skin soft. This particular lotion is for VERY DRY SKIN so it helps eradicate dry skin after a few uses. *EXTRA INFORMATION* The body shop is against animal testing and they support community trade. So this product is made from ethically correct products where possible. I have never had problems with it causing irritation to my skin. I have quite sensitive skin and I have never had an issue. Once this lotion is open you must use it within twelve months. *DISADVANTAGES* So far the only disadvantage I can think of about this product is that you can't get all of the product out of the bottles, but this happens with most lotions. Also, some may say that £8 (or £3) is slightly expensive for a body lotion, but I have never had any other issues with it so I feel that it is worth it. I would also say that, because of the rather feminine smell, that it is only suitable for women. *ADVANTAGES* This body lotion smell delightful in my opinion and it has hydrating properties that make your skin smooth and soft for a long time. The lotion also soaks in quickly, so you don't have sticky skin after you apply it. *CONCLUSION* For £8 (or £3) I think this is a great body lotion, the Body Shop is a well known and trusted brand, and I think it delivers well with this product. I would say it was definitely worth the price tag and I would highly recommend this to anyone. Despite the disadvantages I have listed above I love this product, I have taken the pros and cons into consideration and have rated it a well deserved 4 stars. To gain its final star it would have to be a little bit cheaper and I would have to be able to get the last few drops out of the bottle! You can visit www.thebodyshopinternational.com or www.thebodyshop.co.uk for more information about the company, or for other information about products they sell. You can also buy this product from these websites or in store from The Body Shop. Thank you for reading my review; I hope it was of some use to you. I love The Body Shop Mango Shower Gel and the scent of Mango in general I like to use so when I saw this in The Body Shop I decided to try it. I have 1 of the Body Shop cards which give you 10% off your purchases and you also get a few gifts with the Card. You get £5 to spend on your birthday, and £5 and £10 when you use your card a certain amount of times. The Card only costs £5 so you get your money back if you buy a few things - or even if you just use it for the Birthday present then you haven't lost anything. I chose to put my £5 towards this. This comes in a 250ml bottle and the price of it is £8 which is quite an average price for a product from here. I think you can also get this in a 60ml bottle but not sure if that is only available only in the Mango gift set. That size of product is a good size for you to try it though. The bottle for this is ok. It looks just like the picture on here. A clear plastic bottle which you can see the light orange Cream through this. This has a pump on the top so you can pump some of this out. This isn't that hard to pump out, but I do find that a lotion is a bit easier to apply if you just squeeze this out from a tube. This is a medium thickness cream so easy enough to apply. This has a nice gentle scent and the smell of Mango smells fresh and like ripe, fresh Mangoes. This rubs in easy enough and seems to absorb into your skin in about 5 minutes. The scent lingers a little and I can still smell the light scent of this for a good while afterwards. I find that this is good for any dry bits of skin that you have. I think the Mango range is more aimed at dry skin primarily but I only have the odd dry bit at my Elbows, so I rub an extra bit of this into there and I found that this seems to moisturise well. This is a nice scent and a good Body Lotion. Yes, the price is a bit expensive but this is a Brand named product and if you have a bit extra cash to splash then I would recommend this as it is lovely.
I'm really suprised that this has only received a few reviews. Let me start by saying that I purchased this when I bought a couple of the travel-size minis to take on a weekend away. Normally, I prefer heavier lotions; TBS Cocoa and Coconut Body Butters are staples of mine. However, it was going to be an active weekend and I didn't have the space to cart around big tubs, the time to wait for my lotion to absorb and I felt like trying something new. This smells absolutely gorgeous and moisturises well considering it's so lightweight. I also like the pump packaging, which is attractive and practical. The price is good (more economical that the Body Butter) but I think this is reflected in the quality of the 'Whips' the ingredients aren't as nice as those in the Body Butters. Also, the price may be lower because you need more product to moisturise - I used this up very quickly. An important thing to note is that it smells quite different from the Mango Body Butter so my advice is not to buy this assuming that it will smell the same. I much, much prefer the smell of the Whip; lovely and fruity for the summer. In my opinion, for what it's worth, this smells less creamy than the Body Butter and more true to the fruit of a mango. Overall, I think it's a lovely lightweight lotion for warmer months. I will repurchase during the summer but can't see myself reaching for it in the winter
Introduction I'm one of those people that loves to buy body lotions and moisturisers tries them a couple of times then gives up because I'm bored of the product or it feels too heavy on my skin. I received this Mango Whip Body Lotion free with an online Body Shop promotion. Price As previously stated my product was free but it should have cost £8. A bit expensive for a body lotion in my opinion but it is quite nice and with the Body Shop's constant offers it is highly unlikely I would pay the RRP of the product anyway so on that basis I would re buy this range of products. Packaging The lotion comes in a pump top bottle, this is great to start with as you don't need to handle the bottle so there is no greasy hand slip ups. However, as with all pump tops the pump doesn't get round the edges so you end up having to scrape round the sides, not a massive issue but I find it really irritating when you can't make full use of a product. As with most Body Shop products the packaging is undestated. The product comes in a clear bottle, which is handy to see how much is left, and has all the necessary instructions, ingredients and safety information. It is a clean, plain looking product but not cheap looking. Product The product itself looks like mango yogurt. It's a pale orange creamy lotion with a strong but not overpowering sweet fragrance. The scent has a hint of citrus and fruity tones but overall I would describe it as sweet. The fragrance has quite good staying power for a lotion. The product is a good consistency not too thin but most definitely a lotion not a butter. It sinks in easily and leaves skin feeling soft and smooth with no greasy residue or stickiness. It's an ideal lotion for summer as its light but still very moisturising. With regular use it does make your skin look very nice and even. Overall this is one of the best body lotions I have tried. It does it's job simply and effectively and it smells nice too. There is a wide variety of fragrances within the range and based on this product I'm going to try a few more.
I don't tend to use body lotion and opt instead for a moisturiser however I received this from a friend who had duplicate as she bought one for herself and also received this as a gift. I was very grateful for the free BodyShop lotion as I know they are generally good quality, great smelling products. For anyone who is a regular BodyShop shopper you will know just how many different products that they sell and it can be quite difficult to distinguish the purposes of the lotions and their effects. The purpose of this lotion is to keep the skin soft, supple and smooth with the added bonus of a great smelling, long-lasting scent. If this is the kind of thing you are looking for then Body Shop lotions are a great investment (as they don't come cheap!). The lotion comes in a hand wash type bottle with a pump. The bottle is transparent meaning the yellow lotion is visible. The bottle is mainly taken up by product descriptions, pictures of mangos and the body shop logo. I particularly like this bottle due to the pump as its quite unusual for lotions to come in pump bottles and it means I can pump the lotion straight onto my hands and arms with less mess. The lotion is the same substance as a moisturiser and is relatively thick and smooth. The lotion easily spreads on whichever part of your body you have applied to lotion to. The lotion is very refreshing on the skin, also. The smell of the lotion is exactly how it is described-mango. The fruity scent lasts for as long as you are wearing the lotion so can last all day. I often apply this lotion after applying fake tan as it gives my tan a glow before a night out. The effects of this lotion are that it leaves my skin really smooth and soft to touch. My hands and feet can get quite rough due to work so this alleviates the dry feeling that can ensue after a long day at work. I have used a quarter of the bottle now and usually use it before I go to bed, when I wake up in a morning the mango scent is still present and again my skin is left feeling soft and smooth. I think this lotion would suit any skin type and have a positive effect on them all as I use it on my arms, and hands which aren't sensitive and my legs which are particularly sensitive but this lotion doesn't irritate the skin despite it being fragranced and still managed to make my sensitive skin soft and smooth. A quick look on the Body Shop website shows that this product is £8 per 250ml bottle. For the effects and scent I think this is a very reasonable price and I intend on keeping the pump bottle for future lotions I might buy or even fake tan as fake tan is much easier from a pump-style bottle! So this product does come with a recommendation with me the only disadvantage I can muster is that there's not more of it!
When it comes to buying presents for me Im pretty easily pleased. As long as its bath products, clothes or perfume then Im basically happy and my family knowing this always impresses me with their choice of gifts. This year I got another Bodyshop gift set - most of the products I have reviewed but then I found this 'Bodyshop Manog Whip Body Lotion' right at the bottom of the bag - and as I hadnt tried it before I started using it straight away. And I think Im in love. The mango scented products have always been favourites of mine from this range and I think this product may have become my favourite EVER Bodyshop lotion. Its been a godsend to me in this hot weather with my slightly drier than normal skin. Useful Information: Price - Around £3.50 - 60ml tube. Stockists: The Bodyshop & thebodyshop.com Other Info: Available in 60 & 100ml bottle sizes. This lotion is suitable for ANY skintype but is recommended fro very dried out and tired skin more. The solution of this lotion is much lighter than the mango body butter (from the same store) so its suitable for using all day long and will sink in much quicker but give equally brilliant results. As I got the slightly smaller bottle mine doesnt have the pump lid which you would get with the full sized version - so bear in mind my description of the bottle might be slightly different. The bottle I own is only 60ml in size and is pretty small - which is good for me because I like to use this on the go. The bottle is totally transparent so you can clearly see the yellow lotion inside and can always see exactly how much lotion you have left - always a bonus. On the front and back of the bottle is all the information you could need - ingredients, directions for use, shelf life etc so all questions should be answered - if not there is an additional website to send extra questions or queries to. At the top of the bottle is a small plastic cap which flips open so you can squeeze the lotion out to apply - the lid has been very secure for me so far so I can carry it on the go without fear that it will leak or open in my bag. An effective bottle - but when I buy this again Ill go for the pump top version as that just seems more effective in my opinion. Applying this is the same as any other lotion - you simply squeeze a small amount onto your hands and then apply all over your body, even better if you apply it straight after having a shower/bath - I find I get better results that way. The cream itself is a yellowy colour and just the right texture in my opinion. Its thick enough to feel nourishing and light on your skin but runny enough to ensure you dont need to use loads everytime you apply so as close to perfect as I could hope for. I like to apply this all over my body but concentrating on my drier areas - knees and elbows as this promises to moisturise very dry skin - but obviously the areas that need the most attention will vary depening on the person. This cream sinks in straight away on my skin and leaves me feeling more refreshed and cleaner almost straight away - which is why I enjoy using it on the go so much. Although I do have a very tiny issue - this does leave a bit of greasy residue behind on my skin - not so much noticable but I feel like I shouldnt get dressed straight away when using this, that feeling passes very quickly so I dont mind too much but I will be knocking a star off for it - simply because the product promised no greasy residue at all. Im very happy with this one though because for my skin it is a perfect lotion. It does make my skin feel softer and smoother from the very first application - and it has been a total godsend on my sunburn lately. This even makes the drier areas look and feel better - and I dont think a simple body lotion has ever managed that before. I use this on my knees and elbows all the time and Im definitely starting to see a massive improvment in the condition of my skin - my knees and elbows both appear softer and more moisturised so overall Im very impressed. Oh and I totally forgot about the gorgeous scent! As I mentioned mango scented products are a particular favourite of mine so when a good one comes along I stick with it - this smells amazing! Really sweet and fruity and exactly like a real mango, not synthetic or artifical in the slightest - just what Ive come to expect from Bodyshop products. Id recommend this on fragrance alone because it lasts literally all day long - but thankfully the results are amazing as well. A brilliant 4* lotion - it loses a star for the light greasiness but apart from that Ive been very impressed. Thanks For Reading. x0 Salz 0x
