Good for a treat or a gift.

I am not a big buyer of Body Shop products because I generaly find them to be pretty overpriced really. I do like their Body Butters because they are nice and thick and they seem to last really well and so they are good value for money. But that is pretty much where my relationship with Body Shop ends. That doesn't extend to receiving gifts and last Christmas, being six months pregnant, I ended up with an awful lot of body product gift sets, one of which was this Lychee Blossom one. I can't seem to find it available on the website anymore, so I'm not sure if it was regifted or if it is one of their seasonal products. I hope it is the latter because I actually quite like and might be tempted to buy it again.

The smell is really nice. I am a big fan of light and fruity smells and this one ticks both of those boxes superbly. it is a really refreshing fragrance that is strong enough to smell but not so strong that it is overpowering. It does smell like lychees in that it is a gentle fruity fragrance that smells a little bit exotic and a little bit sweet. It lasts fairly well too and I can often get whiffs of it throughout the day after I have applied it.

The consistency of it is good. It isn't as good as the body butter range because I do prefer a thicker butter type moisturiser, whereas this is more of a lotion. It is quite milky and not very thick at all. That said, it is a nice moisturiser and it does blend in really well and doesn't leave my skin feeling sticky and wet after I have applied it. A little goes a long way too, which is very good.

As I said, I can't find it available at the moment, but there are some other fragranced body lotions that look similar that are £8 for a 250ml bottle. This seems a bit on the expensive side to me (as I expected it to be) and would put me off buying it again really because, whilst it is good and it smells nice, there are lots of other nice brands and fragrances available elsewhere that are far cheaper.

Good for a treat or a gift.

A nice sweet but light and not sickly scented refreshing body lotion from Body Shop

I have my doubts as to how natural and fair trade Body Shop is since they sold out to L'oreal. When you look at the contents of the products many are far from natural and I think they are expensive at full price so I only ever buy anything from Body Shop when they have their half price sales.

I like the smell of this as it is quite a fresh fruity and floral one but nit too heavy at all. the lotion is quite liquid compared to their Body butters and is light but does soak in to my skin quickly leaving it feeling cool, fresh and moisturised but not greasy at all so I can get dressed pretty soon after applying this all over my body.

This is shown with a pump dispenser but mine came in the standard Body Shop rounded body lotion type of plastic recyclable bottle with a flip top lid. Towards the end of the product I have to store my bottle upside down so that the body lotion is at the dispenser end and that way I can get the last bits out. i have also unscrewed the lid and put my finger in but that was harder and didn't get much more out.

I do buy Body Shop lotions on sale as I find them to be quite light and refreshing and not greasy. they are usually nice smelling too. This is a lovely scented one , really fresh and light and I have bought it a couple of times in the last year.

      Lychee blossom body lotion

I buy a lot of the Bodyshop stuff and recently bought almost the whole range of the lychee blossom products because it was in the ale and Little Miss declared it to be a favourite!

The products can be bought online and also I store and at full price this is the same as the other body lotions, £ 8 for 200ml.

The body lotion comes in a plastic bottle with the ingredients which I won't list on the back. It is advertised as being skin softening with a sparkling and energetic scent. I assume the spark lines refers to the smell because I haven't noticed any sparkles on my body after use. It is made with lychee extract and babassu oil. I had no idea what this oil is but it is apparently an emollient which is beneficial for either dry or oily complexions and which gently moisturises the skin without leaving an oily sheen. Seems a bit of a conundrum that it is suitable for dry or oily skin but the fact that it is an emollient pleases me!

The product is dispensed via a pump action, and I find that a couple of depressions of the pump is enough to give each leg a good moisturising. It's kind of creamy in colour with a very fruity smell which I find very pleasant and which I assume to be the smell of lychees. It is of a nice texture neither too thick so that I have trouble getting it out of the dispenser nor thin and watery. This means that when I apply it to my skin, it does leave my skin feeling fresh and moisturised. It applies easily to my skin and is quickly absorbed, without leaving my skin feeling greasy or leaving any sticky residue. My skin does smell fruity and this fruitiness lasts for a few hours, so it's best applied at night and not before applying any perfume.

The one problem I have with this product is the bottle. It works brilliantly when the bottle is nearly full but as the lotion comes towards the end then the pump seems to start to have problems dispensing the product. This is a shame as a good deal of the lotion is lost as I just can't get it out of the bottle. Picking the pump action stick out of the bottle and tipping it upside down and hitting does get some out, but for the amount of lotion I get out it doesn't seem worth the bother.

      VERDICT...

As with most of the Bodyshop products I did like this body lotion. It leaves my skin feeling moisturised and fresh smelling and I can put on my pyjamas without feeling greasy and sticky. It is light enough to be used every day and has caused my skin no irritation.

I would recommend this for anyone wanting a light but effective moisturiser as long as you can stand the fact that the pump action is ineffective towards the end.

      Thanks for reading

      Daniela xx
