My sister has had the Logo Board Game for a number of years now. It often comes out at Christmas and it is definitely a favourite of everyones. The idea of the game is to see who knows the most about particular logos that we see in our everyday lives. The board game is made by Drummond Park and as with the majority of board games it is quite expensive retailing at around the £25 mark. I often look to see if its on offer but it never seems to be with the price usually being somewhere between £23 and £30. It can be found from all good stockists including toy stores and online in places such as Amazon. To play the game you roll the die and move your piece around the board. You will then be asked the first question (blue) by an opposing player. If this is answered correctly you move to the closest blue square on the board. The opposing player will then ask the next question on the card and if this is answered correctly you will move to this colour, if getting them all right you get move forwards four times therefore getting you a good distance on the board. The idea of the game is that you will answer questions about various different brands that we are so familiar with these days due to advertising, and we will see that we know a great deal about brands that we hadn't even learned on purpose. You can be asked questions from three different card types - picture cards, common theme and pot luck cards: Picture cards show a picture of the brand and you then have to answer questions about the brand after guessing the logo correctly. Common theme cards have answers where all questions relate to a common theme. Pot luck cards are general logo knowledge. I find that the questions have a good range of difficulties. My niece has been playing this since she was about 8 (although it is supposed to be 12+) and though initially she could only really answer the blue questions she is gradually managing to answer more now she is 12 (also we think she has memorised some answers!). There are a huge amount of question cards which means that as long as the game isn't played every day it is unlikely you will get bored of the questions too quickly. Drummond Park have put a note on their site saying that they will not be bringing out new questions for logo as December 2013 will see the release of a new game. I find that the brands are all everyday brands that we seen on tv, in shopping centres, hear about on the radio, see on our household appliances etc. They are on the whole very well known brands eg. Mini, Birds Eye, Churchill, Shell, Chicago Town and Walkers. Due to the popularity of the brands used I doubt the game will ever become particularly outdated. To give an idea of some of the questions I have given some examples below: 1) Red question (level 4) What breed of dog is listening to the gramophone in the HMV logo? 2) Blue question (level 1) Name the brand of luxuriously chocolate coated biscuits from McVities (this is a picture card). 3) Red question (level 4) Which model of Toyota was the first and best selling hybrid vehicle? 4) Green question (level 2) Which rock band is famous for its tongue and lips logo? 5) Yellow question (level 3) The name of which toothpaste brand is the postcode for Sunderland? 6) Red question (level 4) In which Yorkshire town is Taylors the tea and coffee merchant based? 7) Green question (level 2) Which Yorkshire based TV drama was sponsored by Yorkshire Tea for many years? 8) Blue question (level 1) Name the brand of cakes (this is a picture card). 9) Yellow question (level 3) Rubbish related to what is responsible for Britains biggest litter problem? 10) Red question (level 4) Which sweet can be described as 'oblate spheroids with a minor axis of 5mm and a major axis of about 15mm? Of course the game can be adapted to suit those playing for example if you are on a tight time schedule you could simply answer questions about the colour you are on and then move onto the next player or if you are playing with a young child you could only ask them the blue questions. We all love this game! It is great fun and quite a bit different to a number of board games on the market. You don't need to really be trained up on general knowledge to win this game it is more about things that you see in your everyday life which you learn and remember far more about than you initially believe. Length of play is dependent on which cards you get, how many players there are and how many questions are answered correctly. Last time we played this there were 4 adults playing and it took us around an hour and a half maybe two hours but none of us were bored and we felt the game progressed very quickly and because half the time you are either answering or asking then it does keep you busy. I won said game by the way! The Logo Game is a fantastic take on the traditional board game. It is fun, fast paced and can be played by people of all ages. It is a fast paced game and there are a great deal of different questions to ensure you don't end up repeating questions. Lots of questions are simple which gives everyone a fair chance. The actual board game itself is very well made. The board is made of a strong board and this still remains looking as though it is brand new without any scratch marks from counters etc. It all packs away neatly into its box and you are never left trying to cram everything in. I think this board game is brilliant! It is expensive but most board games are sadly. It is a fun take on the traditional general knowledge style and it definitely gives it a modern twist. It is fun and fast paced and great fun is always had whilst playing it. If you are thinking of buying a new board game for the festive season then the Logo Game should definitely be considered because it really is wonderful. ==Overview== The Logo Game is a recent addition to Drummond Park's suite of board games. It has been around for about 2 years and in that short time it has become a firm favourite in our Christmas Day board game list. ==How to play== You have a board that spirals into the centre and pieces that you move around the board. The group splits up into two teams, it is better to have a few players rather than just two people playing. One person from the team agrees to be quizmaster (this can change in each round) and picks up a question card. The question cards have a mixture of questions on them, some are all about one Logo, some ask you to guess what the logo is by showing you part of it or sometimes it can be a Pot Luck question card and the questions will be unrelated and be about 4 different questions. The questions are graded by difficulty, the first one 'red' is easy, then green, then yellow before getting to the most difficult, purple. Typically most people, even 10-12 year old kids can get the first two questions on most cards, but as they say, it is only easy if you know it! The purple question isn't impossible but does tend to be a lot harder. When I talk about Logo's I mean branding, so you might be asked something simple like "What logo is this?" and shown a huge yellow M on a red background (simples, its McDonald's!), the green question might be "what is the name of the fish burger in McDonald's?" (i.e. fillet-o-fish), the yellow might be "how many McDonald's are there in the Uk?" and the purple might be "What year was Ronald McDonald brought out as the face of McDonald's?" - as you can see they get harder and harder and aren't all linked to the logo but are linked to the one brand. It is good if you have a mixture of ages and talents on the team as some brands are a lot older like Bird's and others are difficult (for me) about cars, there is usually something for everyone. If the team can't answer a question, the other team get the chance to steal. The other point is that the spaces on the board are colour coded so if you get a red question right you can jump ahead quite far as they don't go in order, the sequence might go red, green, yellow, purple, yellow, green, purple, red. As you can see if you got a red question right, you could jump ahead about six spaces. ==Why do I like it== It is good for groups, everyone gets involved and good for a range of ages as usually someone can answer the question. It is quite up to date in terms of the questions which is also helpful. It is quite a lively and energetic game and I like that one team can 'steal' from the other and the way the board is set up, they can jump ahead quickly but also be caught up quickly. ==Overall== At ~£25 this isn't a cheap game but the quality of the board, cards and items is really good and there is a lot of longevity in the game, plenty of cards so they don't get repeated frequently. I would highly recommend this game!
I love board games and I have waited many years to find a game that I'm actually good at and one I could possibly beat my husband at.... Here comes the Logo Game made by Drummond Park Ltd. I had seen this on TV quite a lot on the run up to Christmas and kept hinting to my husband for this. So I was over the moon when I opened my presents on Christmas to find this under the wrapping. I played this on Christmas day with my husband and my father in law. The game comes with a board, 6 coloured pegs for players playing pieces and 400 question cards also with the instruction sheet. I did kind of have an idea in my head that the game would be played like Trivial Pursuit but it's completely different. The board itself has spaces for players to move round the board but it swirls round and you need to reach the middle to win. No dice required as you move on the board depending on how many questions you get right on each card. There are 4 questions on each card and these get harder as you go down the card. If you only answer the first question then you only move to the colour on the board that corresponds to the colour answered on the card. If you get all four questions right move to each one after each question answered as the board doesn't go in order of the colours on the card, making it quite easy to get all the way round the board pretty quickly. The question cards vary quite a lot and as the name on the board states it's all about logos so expect questions about chocolate or a question about a car make/model. The question cards will either tell you on the front what the set of questions are about e.g. animals - you will then have to answer the questions about a product which is also an animal. There is pot luck questions and there is also questions relating to the pictures on the front of the card e.g. which brand of car has this picture as it's logo. Although the questions mainly relate to products as stated above the questions on the card get harder as you move down the card. By the bottom question it can ask questions that even the most knowledgeable person would need to guess (which has happened on many occasion in my house). This game is fun and also full of what some might say useless information about products. I have to say that I have learnt quite a lot whilst playing this game, if I don't know something then it can strike up conversations with everyone playing the game. This can make the game last a lot longer than it normally would. The game is for 2-6 players but I rather playing with at least 2 other people, it makes the game more enjoyable and also if you're like me competitive. The game is currently £23.99 on Amazon but shop around as sometimes it can be offer in places. I do honestly think the game is worth the money. Overall I would definitely recommend this game to people. We've played it several times since Christmas and every time we've played it we've had fun and a lot of laughter. The game lasts about an hour - I think it would be a lot less time if you were playing the game sensibly. One of the best games I've played as an adult and I have actually managed to win this game a couple of times.
One of the good things about Christmas is that the family get together and play board games but it can be a hard job in finding a game that is suitable and fun for everyone to play. My brother received the Logo game for Christmas last year and it turned out to be an instant hit with everyone! Life is full of things, from crisps to cake, football to flowers, banks to adverts and all these things have logo's!! This is what the game is all about - logo's and the product that is inside them!! It is a really fun game to play and is really quite straightforward. The box is bright red and is covered with many different logos - for example Churchill Dog, Shell garage, Burger King, M&M's and many many more! Inside the box you will find a round game board, coloured playing pieces, a box jammed full of question cards and the instructions. Each card has different types of questions, there are some with just a picture on the front which gives you a great big clue about the questions you are going to be asked, others are pot luck. For example you may get a card with four random questions or you may get one that has four questions about one single logo and finally the common theme card where all the answers will share a common theme. You will need one person to be the question master (although if you haven't got enough players you can ask eachother questions but it takes away from the full effect of the game) and that person will ask the first question on the card (the blue question) while showing the picture on the card and if the player gets the question right they move to the next blue space on the board. Teh following questions are asked and as with the blue question, the yellow, green and red follow the same principle. If the player answers all four questions correctly, they move to the next red square and their turn is over. If a player fails to answer a question correctly the question master will ask it to the next person on the left. To win the game the player must answer two consecutive questions correctly or a red question. The age recommended for this game is 8 years+ which i think is wrong, although they may be able to answer some things i think they would struggle to answer many of them. We played the game with two 13 year olds and they found some of it too difficult. You can pick up the Logo Game for around £29.99, but if you shop around you may manage to find it a little cheaper. I think this is a really good game, we all had great fun playing it - made more so by playing it with my 76 year old Grandma who didn't have a clue about half of the logo's!!! It is definately a game that can get the family involved and I think the more the merrier!! I would recommend this to families as it is definately one of the more entertaining games I have played for a while!
I was bought the Logo Board game for Christmas just gone and have played it a few times since with family and friends and is quite interesting and fun to play if not, in my opinion a little over-priced at nearly £25. It does seem like a really fun game to play at parties and for many ages over the age of 12 really.. You can play with between 2 and 6 players. The game itself as the title of the board game suggests is focused on brand names and logos from over the years. Having seen many adverts over this time both new and old I could related to quite a few of them and recognised them. Some of the logos include ones for crisps, chocolate, plus for banks etc. The good thing about this game which is the same for many successful games is that it's very easy and simple to play. On the front of the box you will notice it's covered in many different logos from the past and present and throughout the game you have to answer questions about these logos and many more. The game comes complete with playing pieces of all different colours and a round board, plus instructions and a box with the question cards in. All of these are different so you will not get any repeat questions and some contain pictures that you need to answer. The idea of this game is begin at the start square on the board and each player must choose a playing piece to start there. The question master will then ask questions in turn to the players involved. The squares on the board are different colours. So for example, if you answer a purple question right then you move on to the next purple square. If you answer incorrectly then the turn passes to the next player. Once you reach the end of the board there is the winning zone where if you enter you have to answer 2 consecutive questions in order to win the game. For me, this is a great family game and is very entertaining and interesting. There are some easier questions but others are hard so there is a challenge involved too.
Finding a family game that is appropriate for everyone is always tricky, but this one does just that. We can't deny that we are all drawn in by advertising and they have a clever way of making us remember their products. This game uses that information, which means that everyone in the family has a chance to get the questions right! What we liked about the game is that it is up to date (2009) and logos are almost totally UK based (except for a few very well known others), which means that we have all heard of the products - an obvious bonus to enjoying the game! The Logo Game, produced by Drumond Park, is aimed at 12+ and for 2-6 players, though we thought the best way to play is in two mixed age teams, which gives both teams a better chance of answering more questions correctly as logos refer to products aimed at all ages of the consumer market. Even the under 12's can join in as they are often more glued to the adverts on TV than the rest of the family! There are three kinds of question cards: Picture Cards (with picture or logo to which the question relates), Pot Luck Cards (general knowledge logo questions) and Common Theme Cards (answers have something in common). Simple rules and a straightforward game board make it an easy game to play, which was a benefit for us post-Christmas dinner! Wish it could be a little cheaper, but its price seems to be par for the course for these chunky boxed games. However, as it includes the very latest logos, it shouldn't go out of date too quickly or before you get your money's worth.
Intro It's a fact that TV ads have us hooked, the ad men have had us on a string for years. Catchy tunes, catchy phrases and a lots of fun. This along with some very clever physiological word play and they can sell us anything. Whats more is that we talk a lot about the ads and we are well aware of the mind games they play; yet still we are hooked. So I guess the next logical step for some clever sales dude was to bring out a board game and convince us we also knew it all. The Board Game Board games have also had us hooked, from Scrabble to Monopoly we are all as convinced as to how clever we are as the ad men are to getting us to purchase something we do not really want. Combine the two and you just have to be onto a winner. With Logo you are trapped from the start, even the box has everyone convinced they know it all. From a slight glimpse of a Mars bar wrapper, to a little portion of the Bisto kids, The Churchill Dog and the Birdseye logo. Just a few little tempters to get you into the general swing of what is basically a very simple idea. Playing Each player has a tall cone shape each of a different colour. The idea is to get yours to the end of the board first by answering questions on trademarks, product advertising. The board is segmented into lots of small shapes which spiral round the board to the middle. These shapes are one of four colours and this colour represents the question you will get. Each card had a brief description of the type of question it might be Pot Luck, Animals a picture, or just about anything you can think of. Each card has four questions. Purple, Green, Yellow, and red, by answering the question you move one position round the board and answer that colour of question. If you are NOT on a purple section of the board then you might just get lucky if you can answer the other questions on the card correctly. This will move you round the board and with luck will take you to the purple segment whereby you will be asked the product; this should be easy if you have been able to answer the other questions. This scenario only happens about 3 times round the board since the segments are not symmetrical in that the colours seem to be laid out random and not in order. This does make the game better however. End Game The game varies in length depending on how many players there are and obviously how knowledgeable they are. We played several games and in each one team streaked ahead only to be caught up with and end up with a really close game. Once in the centre you must decide whether to simply answer two questions correctly or to get 2 red questions correct. The Red questions are sort of general knowledge of advertising and packaging so it might pay to go for this if you think it's your strong point. Be warned however although the basic premise seems simple the questions are NOT. There are many you will get quite easily and others where you will kick yourself once you hear the answer. Summary It seems only right to play games at Christmas and my son received this along with Cranium so I've no idea how much was paid for it although it can be found on Amazon for £37.49. I personally think this is a bit steep for a board game, but we did have and will continue to have great fun playing this. Its kind of addictive since you are as always convinced of your supremacy, until you start playing and find out you aren't half as smart as you think you are. You might know it all, but recalling it can be a bit harder. You HAVE seen ALL the answers before. YOU DO know the answer, its there right on the tip of your tongue. Question is can you get it out. Another great game, which I highly recommend even at that extortionate price. Although it is now available for £26.74 which is a lot better than the original search got me.
***THE LOGO BOARD GAME*** I saw this game advertise on the TV just before Christmas and I thought it looked like a great, fun game to play with friend's or with the family at parties or at Christmas time. The Logo board game is made by Drummond Park and is all about brand names and logo's from all over the years. This includes Crisps, Chocolate, Adverts, Organisations, Banks and more. This game provides facts and surprises which entertain the whole family and help's to keep them amused. The game is very easy and simple to play. On the front of the box you will see that's it's covered with lots of different logos from past and present. Questions to do with all the logos on the front of the box are inside. In the box is a bag of coloured playing pieces, a round board game, instructions and a box of question cards. All the cards are all different and some contain pictures which you must refer to in order to answer the questions. Some of the cards are just Pot luck and others give you a clue on the front. For example the clue could be Big Cats and then the question could be Name the sportswear brand which is of course Puma. Some of the questions in the game feature popular brands such as Burger King, Uncle Bens, Dulux, Seat, Vauxhall, Walkers, Cadbury's and many more favourites. ***PRICE/AVALIABILITY*** You can buy this game from places such as WHSmith, Argos, The Entertainer and other toy shops as well. Prices do vary but approximate cost is about £29.99. I did how-ever get this on offer before Christmas for £24.99 from Argos. ***RULES*** Each player chooses a coloured playing piece and places it on the start square on the round board. You will notice each square is a different colour which includes purple, green, yellow and red. You also need to choose a person to be question master as well. The question master starts asking the first player a question from the pack of cards which are in the box. They ask the first question at the top which is purple, and if the player answers the question correctly they can move to the same colour as the question colour. If the player answers wrong the question is passed onto the next player (on the left), and if they answer correctly they can then move their playing piece to the appropriate coloured square. This person then goes on to answer the rest of the questions. If there is any they cannot answer this goes to the next player to see if they can answer it correctly. If no-one can answer the question, it goes into the back of the pack and the next player is asked a new question. At the end of the board there is a zone called the winning zone. Once players enter this zone they must answer 2 consecutive questions in order for them to win. Of course they must answer the appropriate coloured questions. For example if they need to move to a red then green they must answer the red and green questions in order to win the game. ***OTHER INFORMATION*** This game states that it's from 8 years upwards but after playing this a few times, I don't think many 8 year olds would be able to answer hardly any of the questions in this game. This website will also give you more information regarding the game and rules, etc. ***OVERALL OPINION*** My family had a great time playing this over Christmas and I thought it was a great buy. The game was highly entertaining and definitely get's you thinking about different things. Some of the questions are quite hard but others are easy as well. I love answering the Picture questions as I find these quite easy. Although the game may be pricey at around £30 it's definitely worth the money. The only down-side to this game is, if you play it a lot you will eventually know the answers to the questions on the cards. This game will stay in the family for a while as it's highly entertaining and a great fun, game to play. (Review also on ciao)
