This was my first Blu Ray Player which I bought because I wanted to get the same brand as my television. I thought that this might improve the performance of the models together. I bought this many years ago and it is not not currently available. It may still be for sale on Amazon or for auction on Ebay.
The model is really attractive to look at being black and modern looking. It's surprisingly small in size and very slim. It can be slotted into smaller spaces with ease. The model has a front LED display, a disc drive and a front positioned USB port. You can use the port to view content from any flash sticks or by connecting an external hard drive.
The model allows you to view online content such as Youtube although there is no Wi-fi capability here so you must connect to your modem via an ethernet cable. It's a fairly easy model to use and was perfect for me when I was just beginning with Blu Ray and newer technology.
The machine has a short start up time and doesn't take more than 8-10 seconds to start up and be operational. It makes a little bit of noise whilst in use but not too much to bother you.
The picture and sound quality are excellent and you can really see the improvements in picture quality when using the machine. It's an amazing way to discover visual media.
Although this model is obsolete now I would definitely recommend checking out newer models in the Samsung range as I am happy with the performance and durability of this model.
This is a Blu Ray Player which I've had for quite a while now. I primarily chose to buy this model because it was the same brand as the television I was going to be using it with and I felt this may improve the overall performance. This model is now not currently being manufactured as new models have moved in but it may still be available on sites such as Amazon or the auction site Ebay.
This is a good looking, small and slimline machine. It's comprised of a black covering which means it's fairly inconspicuous and will blend in with other home decor. It has a USB port on the right hand side of the model with the disc tray being on the left. An LED display is also to the right hand side on the model. The model comes with a remote control.
The player has a short start up time and is fully controllable in less than ten seconds. I would say the usability is excellent and it's a great model for those just beginning with Blu Ray and newer technology. One thing that bothered me when I purchased this was that it didn't have an HDMI cable. It was necessary to purchase one to be able to use the player at all! It's also slightly noisy during use although with time you get used to it and tend to block the faint whirring noises out.
The USB port allows you to view content from flash drives or from external hard drives. The machine can also be used to view online video content although it is not Wi-fi compatible and you have to use an ethernet cable to connect.
Picture and sound quality is great with a definite upgrade in quality in most new content. If you have DVD content to compare you can really see the difference!
I think I paid around £50 when I bought this and the overall design and quality of the model has pleased me. I would not recommend this particular model nowadays but I would definitely say check out similar new models from the same brand.

I bought this Blu-ray player for £69 online. As with all electrical goods make sure you shop around for the best price possible. I haven't researched prices that much but have seen it available for £60 online. You will also need to purchase a HDMI cable to connect to your TV but you can get cheap ones for less than a couple of pounds.
I have never been too interested in Blu-ray until somebody bought me a Blu-ray film as a present. Not the best idea as I didn't have a Blu-ray player! Because of this I decided to get a basic and cheap standard one. I have bought Samsung products before and have always been very happy with them so I thought I would stick with them. If you want there are other cheaper ones available but I like to stick with manufacturers I am comfortable with.
This Blu-ray player is very easy to install and get working. Its size and weight mean it easily slots in on a shelf below your TV or on a TV stand. At just over a 1kg it will sit on even the smallest of shelves. It doesn't come with a HDMI cable so you will have to make sure you have one before you can use it. As well as playing Blu-ray and DVDs you can also connect to the Internet and watch YouTube. It doesn't however have access to other Samsung Apps such as iPlayer or Love Film which is a bit disappointing. It is not as easy as using YouTube on your PC but is a useful little distraction. However you do have to wire it into your router which could be more of a hassle than it's worth just for YouTube. There is also a USB port so you can play video files however there can sometimes be a bit of a sound problem with the syncing not quite right. You can also connect a external hard drive which contains movies or photos to view on your TV. You can also use the Blu-ray player to play CDs and listen to your music through your TV speakers. It also has a function called AllShare. Using this you can wirelessly sync your PC and Samsung mobile phone with the Blu-ray player.
The picture quality is very good. When you have only used DVDs before you will notice the extra quality that you get from Blu-ray. I have still not completely bought into Blu-rays yet though due to the extra costs of them. However this does have DVD upscaling which means the quality of normal DVDs are improved. Even if you don't watch Blu-rays this is probably worth it just for the improvement on DVDs. The sound quality is also of a good standard even when it is just played through your normal TV speakers.
The size of the player is smaller than I expected, easily fitting on my shelf below the TV. However it is quite noisy but you do get used to it quite quickly. This is a basic but reasonably priced Blu-ray player. If you are just getting in to Blu-ray discs then it is a good place to start without spending loads of money. It will also improve your DVD quality as well. I am very happy with this product and would definitely recommend it.
