“ Brand: Wilkinsons / Product Type: Plastic Bin „
I have been looking for a bin for my (very) small kitchen for quite a while now but trying to live on a very tight budget means I have to literally think about every penny I spend. Ideally I would have liked a stylish chrome one in bright red but beggars can't be choosers so, after looking round for a basic one, I found myself in Wilkinsons and found this bin which has since proved to be a good buy. I was surprised at the amount of choice of bins in the store and they certainly had some great ones to choose from but I chose the cheapest 50 litre which cost me just £8. The 25 litre ones were just a fiver but I considered those a little small for the kitchen. This bin measures approximately 62cm tall and around 38cm wide and is made from a fairly sturdy grey plastic which has a shine to it. I have always used swing or pedal bins but this has a lift top which is fine and I find it easy enough to both fill and empty it. I have seen plenty of 50l plastic bags around which would fit the bin perfectly but as mine is hidden from view and I now live on my own I tend to use large carrier bags or cheap bin bags for easy disposal. It is easy enough to clean ; I usually give it a quick squirt of kitchen cleaner each time I empty it and it withstands diluted bleach well. I have had it for a few months now and there is no sign of wear and tear or discoloration. Although it is not really a kitchen item I would like to have on show I have to say that I am pretty pleased with this bin and if you are looking for a basic but generous sized one then it may well be worth having a look at these.
Just recently I really needed to replace my old bin in the kitchen. My old bin had seen the best of its days, the plastic had began to crack and no matter how much I cleaned it, it stankmy kitchen out! I wanted a cheap bin but nothing to big and bulky but still of good enough size for me and my home. They had a selection of bins in my local Wilkinson's store, different sizes of course and different colours and the one I bought is the Wilko Everyday Value Lift Top Waste Bin 50L in white and it cost me £7.00 which I thought was great as it was just what I was looking for and in this size for a couple of quid cheaper they had a cream option and a silver both made of plastic. It is oblong, made from wipe down plastic and with a slight shine to it. It has a height of 62.1cm and a width of 38.8cm so it isn't huge but sure does hold a lot! The lid fits neatly on to the base of the bin and doesn't keep falling off though it is easy to remove that when you want to and its a lift up pull down style of lid this one. Like I stated earlier this is easy enough to wipe down clean and its simple to put a bin bag in it by hooking it over sides of the bin and really pulling it down as much as you can, course if its not secured properly you will get the usual drop down of the bin liner but the same as other bins I have owned! All in all this is a great sturdy bin and more than good enough for my needs. It holds plenty of heavy rubbish that I need it to and it looks smart, my two main requirements so I am pleased with this and can't believe still that it only cost me seven quid! Only available from Wilkinson stores.
When I first moved into my new home I invested in a value bin to save the pennies. A year down the line I had basically a bucket left as I had broken the lid due to its poor quality. This prompted me to go in search of a new bin which had a nice sturdy lid. Whilst shopping in Wilkinsons I came across a plastic bin for just £5.49. After giving the lid a few whacks to make sure it was sturdy I was happy to take advantage of this generous bargain. The bin comes in a dark grey/black colour from head to toe. I prefer a dark colour bin in the kitchen as light ones tend to look disgusting it you spill anything on them. The bin is a good size for a kitchen holding 25 litres. For me it fits nicely inside one of my taller kitchen units although it is not a complete eyesore and would not ruin a kitchen if out. It is made from a tough plastic which over the past 7 months I have owned it has never lost its shape. Despite being in constant use the colour of the bin still looks. When empty the bin is extremely light which is handy when moving it around. To maintain and clean the bin is very easy. I just use a few squirts with antibacterial spray and wipe it down with a damp cloth. If I accidently split a bag in the bin I sometimes take it outside for a hose down. The lid is very useful. It slides backwards to open up the bin. When closed it keeps the smell of the bin inside. When removing the line you simple lift the off. I have dropped the lid many times and given it a few whacks and it still works fine. I saw a few weeks ago this was still in Wilkinsons for £5.69. This time I saw it was available in a variety of colours such as blue, red and white. In my opinion the black/grey still looks the best. I would highly recommend anyone in need of a bin to snap this up.
When we moved into our new home, we looked everywhere for a bin for our kitchen. It seems like the simplest thing to buy and you should just pick up the first one that you see, but they're so expensive and I didn't want to pay £20 for something to put rubbish in! Whilst picking up our last few essentials in Wilkos, I spotted this bin and went to check the price, convinced it would be atleast £20! So when I saw that it was £5, I brought it without even thinking because I had to rid myself of this bin stress! The bin is a light grey colour and comes with a matching lid that sits on the top. I didn't care about the colour when buying it as it was only going under our kitchen counter anyway but the grey actually looks quite smart in our black and grey kitchen. Size-wise, the bin looks quite small, however we have found that it holds a lot and does not get full too quickly. The website says that this holds 25 litres, which seems a lot to me but I'm not very good with measurements. The lid has a flap on it that has to be lifted to put stuff in it, as strange as it may sound, I love this part of it! With bins that have push down lids, my boyfriend will sit his plate on the top to dispose of leftovers, resulting in the lid getting covered in food and me having to clean it. With this one it is impossible for him to do this. When we brought this, we said that if it broke too easily we would pay for a decent one. However, we have been using it for almost six months now and it is still going strong. For £5 you cant go wrong and it beats paying £20-£30 just to keep your rubbish in your kitchen for a couple of days
When my partner moved into his new home he needed pretty much everything as the place he was in before was fully furnished. Obviously everything he needed would have added up to a hefty sum so we decided to have a look around some of the cheaper stores to find some things that would do until we had a bit more money to replace them. One thing he needed was a kitchen bin. Looking in Tesco and Argos I noticed that most of the cheaper bins were a cream colour which wouldnt have really gone with the colour scheme in the kitchen. Therefore we decided to take a look in Wilkinsons as his mother had recently had her kitchen redecorated and had raved about how good the range was in Wilkinsons. We found this bin for just £5.47. It holds 25 litres worth of rubbish so it is a good size for a kitchen and it fits larger bin bags in it. The lid came with the bin so we got the whole thing for less than £5.50 which I thought was a bargain - if we had to replace it after a couple of months it wouldnt matter at all. The bin is made of thick plastic as is the lid. We have been using the bin since June and it has lasted really well, it is still a vibrant colour and it is not scratched. Whenever we empty the bin I always squirt the bottom with some anti bac spray just to keep it fresh, therefore the bin still looks good as new. We havent had to really clean the lid but if we did I imagine it would be very simple and you would just need to wipe over the plastic with a damp cloth. The bin isnt the most stylish bin around but for the price I cannot fault it. It doesnt look too bad in the kitchen and it does the job we need it for. There are other kitchen items in the range such as washing up bowls and drainers. These are also low priced and look to be good quality (we dont actually own any). This bin comes in various colours including a turquoise colour, red and cream. This bin is great value for money, it still looks good as new and it is very sturdy, you really cannot go wrong for a fiver!
