“ Brand: Sainsbury's / Product TypeKitchen bin „
For £30 this bin is an absolute bargin. We have three in our house, and only one is actually used for waste. These bins have much more potential than your left over food scraps. We have one for our dog food as we buy it in large bags and wanted it to stay fresh, we have one for our general waste and one for our recycling (as we found that the members of my household were much more likely to recycle if they need not travel outside to the bin). These bins are sturdy and attractive, the matt finish and chrome style lid is an asset to any kitchen, it also means that you are more likely to clean your bin regularly to keep up the shine on top! Any normal bin liner fits the bin, although there are some made specially for this style. This is a great product which i 100% recommend.
In my kitchen I have lots of black and chrome accessories. I have been looking for a bin for ages and knew from looking at my neighbours one that I wanted a 30 litre one. I had spotted the Brabantia ones but they were around £100. This is quite a lot of money for a bin, even one that is going to last some time, so I decided to pick up this Sainsburys 30 litre bin for £30. I was pleased with this price and I picked up some white 30 litre bin bags while I was there. This caught my eye as it's very similar to the other more expensive bins that I have been looking at for some time now. This is a metal bin with a black body and a chrome lid and pedal. I like flip top bins like this as it means I can use my foot to press the pedal down, open the lid and throw in whatever I need to throw in without getting my dirty fingerprints on the lid or having to wash my hands numerous times while cooking. This bin is easy to change and you just press open the lid and remove the inner plastic tube and take the bag from this. You can then replace a bag by gripping it around the edge of the plastic tube and using the metal handle to press down and keep the bag in place. The bags do fold in a little when the bag is empty but that is not too much of a problem. The press down pedal is good and despite being used several times a day, sometimes more, it shows no signs of wear yet and opens just as fluidly now as when I bought this bin. The pedal can withstand lots of weight pressing down on it and opens up smoothly with no noise or damage occurring to the lid, pedal or bin bag. I have my bin sitting at the end of my worktops in my kitchen. It is not much shorter than my worktop which is great. The chrome lid can get dirty but I tend to wipe this over after I have washed up and then wipe with a piece of kitchen towel. The black part of the bin (the main body) does get quite dusty but I just wipe this over when I am doing the rest of my household dusting and generally cleaning. I have been very pleased with the quality of my bin so far. It opens fluidly and quietly, it is simple to use and simple to clean. The 30 litre bags I buy fit quite well (but not perfectly) but they definitely do the job without food and mess spilling down the inside of my bin. The lid is tight and keeps in any smells so that I only have to change my bin bag when the bin is very full leading to less bag usage which is always a plus point.
I have a light wood kitchen with wooden surfaces and so if I buy anything black to go in my kitchen it doesn't look right as it stands out and looks kind of harsh, so I tend to go for whites which gives a calm appearance in the kitchen and sometimes this is a good thing as it can get quite hectic in my kitchen at meal times. The only draw back with having to colour co-ordinate the kitchen items is I usually have to pay a bit more than usualy for white things and this Sainsbury's Round Pedal Bin was no exception to that rule as it cost me £30 which is quite a lot for a kitchen bin. It's not a huge bin and fits nicely uner the kitchen surface in the corner of my room, and the dimemsions are 67x29.4x36.5cm it is a round bin so looks a little bit more stylish than the usual square bins, although it isn't that big and does have to be emptied more often than other kitchen bins. It opens with a pedal at the bottom and is easy to operate. The one I have is white and you can get it in black too, I don't use this for recycling as the paper, cardboard and tins go into my green bin outside so this doesn't get filled up too quickly and I only have to empty it every two days as there is only two of us at home now my daughter and grandson have moved out. It can be washed out and is easy to clean, I like the design and this looks good in my kitchen. Although it costs a lot it is quite sturdy and I can recommend this to you if your looking for a kitchen bin that is stylish and comes in a choice of colours.
I bought this pedal bin in Sainsburys as it looked like a really expensive one I had my eye on but that one was nearly £100 whereas this bin was only £30. £30 is still a lot for something that you are only going to be throwing rubbish in but it is lovely looking and does compliment the modern pieces in my kitchen better than some rubbish plastic bin would. The bin is metal and is two toned. The main base of the bin is black whilst the lid is shiny chrome. It has a capacity of 30ltrs which is good enough for my household that I can use it for the entire week (providing there is nothing that smells too badly in it) before having to empty it into my wheelie bin on collection day (yes we still get weekly collections where I live). It has a pedal mechanism to open which for me being a bit of a germaphobe is a must. I don't really mind touching a bin lid but in the kitchen I am usually cooking when I put something into the bin so with the pedal it means I can put vegetable cuttings etc. in the bin and not have to worry about washing my hands every time. The pedal action is really solid feeling and the lid doesn't creek when it is lifting up and down. I am quite heavy footed so I needed something that wasn't going to snap when I put my big foot down on it and this one fit the bill ideally. The bin itself is also solid enough that even when it is empty and I put my foot down on the pedal the bin itself doesn't move. My sister has a similar bin which was much more expensive and every time she uses the pedal the whole bin angles forward as if it is about to tip over whereas with this one I have never had that problem. Even though the bin looks really good it is a complete dust and smudge magnet. The black really shows up every little bit of dust and even though I try and wipe it down every couple of days the dust is back again within a few hours which is the most annoying thing about this bin. If you are looking for an attractive bin that will go in a modern kitchen then this is a good one to choose especially as being black and chrome it is a little bit different from the silver coloured ones that seem to be everywhere. It has good capacity and is really solid and well made. It isn't the cheapest bin but nor is it the most expensive and for what you pay I think it is well worth the money.
This handsome 30L Pedal Bin will complement any kitchen. Made from metal and black plastic its robust pedal operation leaves your hands free to handle food more hygienically.
