We recently needed to replace all of our bedding. We have kind of got into a habit of letting our little girl climb into bed with us and have her breakfast in bed too, not a great idea but as her dad makes it it allows me to sleep in for a few more minutes while it keeps her entertained next to me. The result though has been rather grotty pillows and duvet of late so we decided we needed to get some more. We actually haven't replaced then for a few years now so it was getting about that time anyway. The pillows were getting rather flat and did not really plump up anymore when we tried to plump them which I find really annoying as I like my pillows to really be big and puffy and to cushion my head nicely. We have a Dreams showroom on the high street in our town and actually bought one of our spare beds in here so we know they are a good quality shop and that they would the products we were looking for. They had a really nice big selection of pillows so we actually had lots to choose from and in the end we went with these pocket pillows. They actually have quite a wide choice of pillows in the showroom which I like so you can decided how much you want to pay. There are some pillows that costs upwards of £70, way too expensive for my liking so we compromised and went with these which costs about £20 but I think we got a discount because there was a sale going on but I didn't think that price was too bad. According to Dreams, these pocket plus spring pillows are a, "supremely comfortable pillow with extra support for your head and neck. The unique pocket spring system is encased in soft hollow fibre which helps to eliminate nightly neck tension and back pain by supporting your neck and head whilst you sleep. I like the way these pillows feel on our bed. Usually I have to sleep with two pillows because I find the material inside usually flops down in the night but these are actually really comfy and squishy and do provide a lot of support which is nice and I feel quite refreshed in the morning and don't really have a sore neck at all. The pillows are quite big also so they fit well on our queen size bed and are big enough to roll over on and you will still find yourself in the middle of the pillow. They also fit regular sized pillow cases which is nice and I have not had to buy new ones of those which is nice. The measurements are given as: height - 18cm width- 46cm length - 71cm We've had these pillows a while now and I can't really say anything bad about them. They each came in a plastic bag with handles which makes them really easy to store in the airing cupboard too and nice if you want to take them away with you, camping or to a hotel etc or if you just want to store them and change them about from time to time. All in all a nice pillow that I recommend.
Exclusive to Dreams - Pocket Plus - pocket sprung pillow. £24.99 per pillow. I have been using Dunlopillo latex pillows for years but they are becoming too expensive now so decided on a change. If you use latex pillows you will realise they are totally different from any other type of pillow therefore it is very hard to find something else that suits. Decided to go into Dreams as they have plenty of pillows on display. The saleswoman recommended this one as she has it at home herself. It certainly felt thick and not too sinky so decided to give one a try. It is too high for using with another pillow, and marginally too low to be used on its own. This was the first problem. I started off using it with a small soft pillow underneath but felt when I was lying on my back that my chin was almost touching my chest, my head was so raised. Took out the small pillow and tried it on its own instead. Still no go. It does not have the spongy texture of latex and even though it is pocket sprung, it is very hard and doesn't seem to give at all. Also, it is noisy which I realise must sound strange, but honestly when you lie on your side, all you can hear is your hair scratching on the pillow, even through a pillowcase. I just couldn't get used to it, and although it is a good quality pillow, I wouldn't recommend it for people with neck or back pain.
