Smooth brush that doesn't irritate your skin

I recently took a trip to Boots to try some new foundations. The consultant on the No7 counter applied a foundation using the No7 foundation brush. I was so impressed with the way it felt and applied the foundation that I called my mum and added it to my christmas list. The bristles on this brush are so soft and feel so smooth on your skin. The last brush I had was a body shop foundation brush which was great but as time went on the bristles became a bit straw like and would irritate my skin slightly. I do not have this problem with this brush. I've used the foundation brush with both a No7 foundation and an Estee Lauder foundation and the smallest amount of foundation goes an incredibly long way with this brush. The brush also helps to give a flawless, smooth finish. Used with a good foundation you can achieve a great finish and if you use a sponge on one cheek and a brush on the other you will see the difference and invest. With this brush not only will you waste less foundation but I also find that my skin is less spotty than if I use my fingers. The foundation brush costs around £14.00 but wait until No7 have one of many 3 for 2 offers and buy yourself a No7 foundation and powder to get the best finish.

      No. 7 Foundation Brush

Although £14 may seem a little steep for a makeup brush, I would recommend forking out the money for this product if you're looking for a foundation brush that will last! This brush is made from synthetic fibres which means that you're foundation won't be absorbed, and therefore wasted which saves you money in the long run. This brush allows your foundation to go on smoothly, although you probably will have to use your fingers to blend in product around your nose and hairline. I use this brush every day and therefore have to wash it to keep things hygienic. After washing, the brush definitely doesn't go back to its original state but I think it fares much better post-wash than any of the other makeup brushes I've tried in the past and, for me, this is indicative of its high quality. The brush is also a nice size to use and you can get a good grip easily. It isn't too big to fit in your makeup bag and isn't too small so that it's fiddly to use. I have also never experienced shedding with this product which is fantastic and the first time this has happened, and trust me, I've purchased many makeup tools over the years. Overall, this No. 7 brush is worth the £14 as it will last you for many years as long as you take care of it with regular washing.

A fantastic foundation brush from Boots.

No 7 make-up brushes are something that I have been using for at least a year now. I like knowing that I am using a quality long lasting product and most of my brushes have been picked up after I've received a £5 off No 7 voucher and sometimes I've even purchased a few of these from eBay just to ensure that I can pick up exactly what I want and save myself some money in the process. My No 7 Foundation Brush set me back around £6 after using my voucher and can currently be found for £14.00 but as part of a regular 3 for 2 that Boots seem to have on thousands of products at any given time. I love the 3 for 2 but don't like feeling like prices might have been raised to accommodate these special offers. That is why I like using the £5 off vouchers as then I can go for lower priced items and not worry about their cost being prohibitive. My foundation brush is quite thick and has a pearlised pink coloured handle. The end where the bristles are is square with rounded edges and this has an almost fan like shape to it with squared sides and rounded tips. The bristles are the brush head are quite large, as you would expect, because they have quite a lot of area to cover. This brush is lovely and soft so it is easy to apply this to my skin on a daily, sometimes twice daily, basis without any irritation occurring. The bristles work very well at holding liquid or mousse foundation without actually soaking it up and absorbing it. This means that the foundation transfers nicely to my face regardless of the consistency and I get a fantastic even finish too. This brush has held up well to my constant use. On occasion I have given this a clean by rinsing it under the tap in warm water and then leaving to dry overnight before using a kitchen towel to squeeze the bristles to ensure any excess water is removed. The bristles on this brush have lasted well and I have only lost a few, mainly to them becoming bent out of shape, and I then have to cut them away with scissors as they just irritate me after that! In all I have been very impressed with this foundation brush which is why I have been using it for all this time. I used this brush on my wedding day and felt like my skin had a flawless finish to it that wouldn't have been achieved just using my fingers. Occasionally I will compliment my look by using a foundation sponge but generally the brush is the way to go for me and it works very well at allowing me to blend my foundation and ensure an even, flawless finish to my face all day or night. Liquid foundation or mousse foundation has been simple to apply using this but I have noticed a slight bit of spillage on the occasions where I've used mousse foundation so I now apply this before putting my clothes on in the morning just to avoid ruining my top and having to get changed again. When using this on my skin it is soft and smooth and does not upset my delicate skin at all. I have found this easier to use than my fingers and I do not have to worry about dirt or oil transfer on my skin thanks to this either. In general I have had much better skin for the past year and that is likely because of using items like this to help me take care of my face and my skin much better. I am going to give this 5/5 as the brush is just fantastic for me, it is long lasting, easy to hold, applies the foundation nicely and what more could you want from a foundation brush?

I have been experimenting with make up over the last few months as I have never really been a bit make up user all my life but want to look my best for my Son's wedding next May so I have been having a go at different bits and pieces to see if I can master them and not look like a painted doll. Boots have been doing a till spit that gives you £5 off No7 items so I have been taking advantage of these and buying in some bits. I asked my friend who uses make up a lot to help me choose what items to buy and she suggested this brush as she said it would be useful for quite a few different things. The brush was £14 to buy which I doubt I would have paid as my head screams "no" when I see the prices of some of it now a days but with the £5 off ticket I decided to take the plunge and buy it, I could always give it to my daughter if I didn't find myself using it. The brush is really nice looking, it came in a box that would be nice as a gift for my daughter if I was buying her one to go in her Christmas stocking. The brush itself has a smart black coloured handle and the brush bit is sort of white a dark hairs which remind me of my Dad's old shaving brush when we were kids. The brush feels nice and soft though, not like the brush my Dad had which was quite stiff and scratchy. This feels really nice on your skin. The first thing I thought I would try with it was foundation as that is what it is supposed to be for. I found this quite complicated as the foundation was in a tube like thing and it was hard to get the brush to smooth it over, it was like painting when you can see the brush strokes, but I persevered and found it did blend in well although it would have been quicker using my fingers. The hairs on the brush did not seem to get blocked up and I wiped them clean on a bit of paper towel. I found the brush much better for applying a bit of blusher to my cheeks, I know you can get proper brushes for this but as I don't use make up that often I think this brush would be sufficient to use for both. I also found it good for applying eye shadow to the top of my eye lids as it was a big brush and I found it easy to smooth it over the area without it giving me panda eyes (I don't use a dark colour anyway). I am not sure this brush is worth the full £14, may be that is just me, but I am quite satisfied with it for £9 as it looks like it will last a while and be useful to me.

The most versatile brush you'll ever own!

As you may know, around 8 months ago I was given a Boots No 7 brushes set and though haven been given the exact same name as the one above I think I have a slightly updated / older version as mine is a pale pink colour with a brown bristle brush. As I received this is a gift set I am unaware as to how much it costs individually, but after looking on the website I think it costs around £12. As this is a No7 product it does mean that it is exclusive on Boots, though you can often find these items on Boots, also there online store boots.com or Amazon for cheaper, however, there is often a postage charge. *I would also suggest that you check on http://www.halfpriceperfumes.co.uk/ as they often have No 7 products on here for much lower than the normal retail, so they may also get the brushes on here.* The brush itself, it a typical sized foundation brush, with quite a thick handle, if this is what you call it? Then goes onto the actual brush itself which does start off squarish, but then very quickly flares out into a sort of semi circle, however, it is much wider / larger than a normal semi circle. The foundation brush obviously has a purpose, which is to apply foundation, however I also find it works well when using it to apply other items of make up, which I shall go onto to in a minute. The brush itself is of good quality and it is SO soft, the bristles are very tightly compacted, unlike some of the cheaper ones that look like they have a lot, but in fact are very parsley compacted. The better quality the brush, I also believe gives a much better appliance of the product you are using and a much better 'professional' finished look. Also the softer the brush is, the easier I find it to apply, the make up sort of 'glides' on when using this soft brush, however, which much more brittle brushes it got often feel 'bumpy' whilst applying it. The bristles also all stay together and when pushed along with the tip of my finger they move altogether and there are no loose ones or sparse ones that stick out in odd directions. This is yet another sign of a good quality brush and is just one of the many reasons I love it. Also the bristles all stick in there shape, so they don't fan out so much that there are gaps inbetween the brush, meaning that there would be a steaminess to your foundation / make up. *Foundation* When using this brush for the appliance of foundation I was thoroughly impressed. I have used it on both mousse style and liquid style foundation and will let you know how it works on both of these! --Mousse-- Mousse foundation is the one with the slightly lighter texture, almost spongy, so most people would say that it is easier to apply with your fingers, however I decided to give it ago with this brush! It picked up the foundation much better than expected and when rubbing it on the brush I thought it may go slightly bumpy on the brush and only be smoothed out once applied the face, however, I was impressed to see that it smoothed down the foundation whilst collecting it with my brush! To apply it felt soft and smooth, also using a brush to apply the mousse foundation I actually found it a lot easier as with fingers it is sometimes hard to blend, however as this brush sort of just 'glided' across my face, as if it was floating it was very easy to use in circular motions in order to blend it. Mousse foundation is a lot thicker than liquid, so I was a little worried that this brush might give me the 'caked' look, however I was pleased to see that when blended well (which was surprisingly easy with this brush!) that it just gave me a nice, light, matte finish. I sometimes find that mousse foundation can exaggerate pores / imperfections a little, however, for some reason when using this brush I was able to achieve much better coverage , as it did just glide over these. After finishing applying the mousse foundation and then looking at the brush I was pleased to see that only a little was left in the brush, admittedly some little clumps of mousse were found within with washing, however, other than this I feel that the mousse foundation transferred well. --Liquid-- Wow, Wow, Wow! If you use liquid foundation and are looking for a new brush (or already have one!) then this is brilliant and gives an absolutely flawless look! I first applied this foundation to the top of my hand and then rubbed my brush around this in order to pick it up. I was pleased to see that the brush picked up an adequate amount, as with some f/brushes I have had they pick up LOADS of the liquid foundation and I end up looking like a rotten carrot, however, with this one if anything I think it picked up maybe too little. ' When I started to apply the brush felt like silk running across my face, also when applying liquid foundation with my fingers I find it sometimes leaves this greasy looking sheen, however when using the brush, despite using liquid foundation it gave me a very matte look. I feel that the brush did blend the liquid better than the mousse, however, this is perhaps to be expected. I used the brush in circular motions to blend and thought that whilst using liquid foundation it would be more likely for the bristles to become sparse and splay out when using them in circular motions, however I was pleased to see they stayed tightly compacted and still smooth and super soft. The look I achieved when using this brush is, in my mind, flawless, it does not exaggerate pores / imperfections and you only need a very light amount of the liquid foundation in order to receive a good coverage, which I love as I hate that 'clogged' up feeling you can sometimes get. When looking at the brush I saw that the very minimal amount was left on and I ran it under warm water (this is the way that I clean them) for a few seconds and it ran clean. This meant that the liquid foundation had transferred and blended even better on my skin than the mousse and than I would have expected. Despite this brush being designed for foundation, as I have said I also use it to apply other items of cosmetics and I will tell you how I think it has faired now- *Blusher* I have used this as a blusher brush on a few occasions and have also been pleased with the results. I have the powder style blusher, not a cream or mousse, and I used the tip / fan of the brush for the blusher rather than the flat surface, which I used for foundation. I was pleased to see that it picked up quite a lot of blusher, the reason why I was pleased to see this is that I often have to keep returning to my blusher as my brushes never seem to pick up enough. I applied this just below my cheek bone, this is because when applied on my apples of my cheek I found it rather hard to 'fill' them all and get a smooth, yet natural line. This is most likely due to the fact that I used the nib of the brush, however, wearing it just under my cheek bones I found worked very well as it was just a thin, natural line I needed, which highlight my cheek bones. The amount that it picked up was enough to brush up and down one cheek without having any need to return to the palette, which I was very pleased with and was also pleased with end results. I saw the results that I saw when using it with denudation, which were that all the bristles stayed in a perfect line and that they didn't splay out everywhere. I think you could probably use this brush to go across the apples of cheeks, however would have to use the flat surface of the brush, rather than the nib as I did. *Eyeshadow* If I am using a natural colour eyeshadow (nudes and browns) I tend not to worry about doing it too perfectly as it tends to just blend by itself. As when using these colours I tend to do the whole lid of my eye, when using a small brush I often have to refer to the palette on numerous occasions, however with this brush I find it much more easier. The brush it very soft, so when using a pressed powder eyeshadow it picks it up very well and you are able to get quite a lot on your brush. My eyelid area seems to be roughly the same size of this brush, maybe a little bigger / smaller, so to apply I simply line the brush up and simply 'shuffle' it from side to side! When doing this it gives a very subtle effect with the eyeshadow, which is exactly what I want when using a nude colour and I think this actually achieved this better than with a normal eyeshadow brush so I was thoroughly impressed! I was also pleased to see that almost no eyeshadow was left trapped in the brush, which is always a plus as again it shows it has transferred well, no wastage and less cleaning ;) 8 months on and I am proud to stay I am still in love with this brush and it is still as soft, smooth and versatile as ever. I have not noticed any of the bristles becoming sparse, sticking out in odd places or becoming brittle. They have all stayed in the same neat line, which allows for smoother application of the product and a better end result. The product is of a very high standard and is so versatile, obviously, some people will just use it as a foundation brush and I cannot rate it enough as just this this, however I have found that it works just as well in other applications of make up if you can't be bothered to get out the other brushes, or simply can't afford more. As I have said, this product has lasted me 8 months and I can see it lasting me a lot longer, so for £12 I think this is a great buy and it really does achieve flawless results, so despite being a lover of MAC make up brushes the horizon has broadened for me as I now stick to No7 ones as I actually prefer these! Also, don't feel that you need to use No 7 make up in order to achieve these results, I use a mix of make up including Maybelline, Max Factor and Natural Collection foundation depending on what mood I am in and still can achieve these results - but not without this brush ;) If for any reason the bristles become inadequate, or it is simply too old, I will definitely be returning to this brush when buying a new one! Got yours yet?

A great foundation brush, wouldnt use anything else!

I have been using this foundation brush by no 7 for a few months now and i am so impressed with it, just like i always am with all no 7 products. This brush cost me £11.00 in boots, however if you have a £5 off voucher, this would be a bargain at only £6! It is worth paying full price though as it is so much easier than using your fingers. I had never used a foundation brush before this one, i had always just used by fingers to apply foundation on. I thought i was doing a pretty good job of my make up with my fingers, but since using this foundation brush i would never go back! This gave amazing coverage, and i was expecting it to be hard to blend in. But this brush blended my foundation in so well, with minimum effort. There were no streaks or brush marks, i had a perfect even coverage. I was expecting to get bristles coming loose too, like you do with some products such as blusher brushes. But after a few months, this brush is still going strong, with not one loose bristle at all. The bristles are so nice and soft it feels nice on your skin, not rough like i thought it would be. This brush is also a perfect size to carry around in your make up bag. It is a really cute size, and now i couldnt be without it! I find using this brush quicker to apply my foundation and you dont end up with it all over your hands! My foundation can be hard to get off my hands and it goes all in your nails, and you have to spend time really washing it off your hands, but with this foundation brush there is no mess at all! So if you are looking for a foundation brush which will apply your foundation flawlessly with no effort, then try this foundation brush! It feels nice and smooth, and is highly recommended!
