**I am taking my lead from the other review posted on this product, as I also have the round body brush and not the oval one shown in the photograph, but they are exactly the same product made with the same materials, and used for the same purpose. ** I bought this product in the hope that it would help improve the condition of my skin before I went on holiday. I was sick of paying a fortune for different creams and lotions, exfoliators and body puffs so was looking for something a bit different. Appearance This brush is of a circular design with bristles covering the whole surface. The handle is of a good size for any size and shape of hand, and makes the brush easy to hold when using it anywhere on the body. The bristles are long enough to put some force onto the brush when using it without being able to push it down to far to hurt the skin with the wooden top of the brush. Use I do not use the brush in the shower or with creams as I find it makes too much of a mess. I find it easier to use the brush once I am out of the shower and then apply moisturiser with my hands. I use the brush in long upward strokes all over my body and find that it leaves the skin tingling slightly for about 10 seconds after use, but leaves my skin feeling smooth, removing any dead skin cells. I also find my skin looks brighter and healthier with the regular exfoliation. I am very impressed with this product, it creates the same effects as exfoliator creams and lotions but without the continued price. I have had mine for about a year and paid around £6 for it, I believe it is closer to £7 or £8 now but I would recommend it to anyone looking for healthy and glowing skin. I have not had one bristle come away from the brush in all the time I have had it, and it is a very well made product.
*It's important to inform you that my body brush is actually the round one from the Botanics range - not the oval one shown in the image above, although it works in the very same way and is made of the very same materials therefore Dooyoo have said to put the review in here. Body brush? I hear you say. What the heck is a body brush? Well it's exactly that, a brush for your body. I was first recommended to try body brushing by my doctor to aid poor circulation, but have since done a lot of research on it and found out that it can be highly beneficial to many aspects of life - not only this, but I've had incredible results! My body brush is from the Boots Botanics range and cost £5.60. It is roughly 3 inches in diameter and an inch tall (including the bristles). The top of the brush is made out of a smooth, light wood and is approved by the FSC (forest stewardship council). There is a thick fabric handle across the diameter of the brush for you to slip your hand through for easier use. The bristles on this brush are 100% natural and very soft. They are not be confused with the soft hairs of a makeup brush as they are very different - these bristles are a little more rough due to the fact that a body brush is to aid exfoliation, not just feel nice on the skin. I have experienced no shedding with this brush, and although I've had it for over a year now the bristles have stayed in great condition and aren't all higgeldy piggeldy like an old, overused toothbrush! Now this wouldn't be much of a review without telling you about the results I've seen from using this brush, but beforehand I'd like to tell you a little bit about body brushing. Body brushing is one of the most natural ways to improve your health and your skin. By regularly body brushing you can improve your circulation, reduce cellulite, remove dead skin cells, improve digestion, tone muscles and reduce signs of ageing. Improving Circulation/Digestion --------------------------------------- By using the correct technique for body brushing (I'll get into this shortly) you are directly improving the circulation of blood and oxygen in your body. This directly effects pretty much everything your body does and will improve how all of your vital organs work. Digestion is one of the main improvements you will notice through body brushing. Exfoliation ------------- I like to use my body brush before I shower in the morning and before I moisturise at night. This gently removes any dead skin cells without the irritation of the harsh exfoliants I used to use! Reducing Cellulite ---------------------- The dreaded C-word. Everyone has it. Nobody wants it. Okay, not everyone has it, but most people suffer with it at least once in their lifetime (and us lucky women are most prone to getting it on our bums and thighs!). For those of you who don't know, cellulite is fatty tissue pushing itself through the fat cells underneath your skin, this then leaves the horrible orange peel effect and looks pretty grim if you ask me. Body brushing can help reduce cellulite by dispersing the fatty tissue under the skin to leave a smoother finish. Reduce Signs of Ageing/Tone Muscles --------------------------------------------- Body brushing won't make you look 10 years younger over night, and you won't look like you've spent hours in the gym either, but by regularly stimulating the skin and muscles in your body you will be reducing the likelihood of premature ageing and can even reduce the appearance of wrinkles that have already formed. You will also gently tone your muscles over time due to constant gentle stimulation. Please note - body brushing whilst constipated is not recommended as it will cause your body to push the toxins out of your body, but if your bum is slightly bunged up then you'll be doing more harm than good as it'll all be blocked in! (That may just have been the most disgusting thing I've ever written.) Technique -------------- The most common way to body brush, and the way to achieve the best results is to brush the skin in soft, long strokes towards your heart. You want to go over each area a couple of times to get real results. If you are body brushing to fight cellulite, then your best bet would be to go in fast circular motions over the problem areas. Personal Results -------------------- Like i mentioned, my doctor recommended this to me to help with my circulation and I can honestly say that it has vastly improved since using the body brush. I still have very poor circulation (due to health issues), but I'm no longer left with blue lips, fingertips and toes all the time which is a bonus for me! An extra little bonus was that my cellulite improved A LOT. Although I'm only young, I'm unlucky enough to have been hit with the orange peel effect on my thighs, but this has been improved by around 90% since using this brush. I first noticed results with a week or two of regular body brushing (twice a day) and I honestly believe that within a month or two, all of my dreaded cellulite will be gone. My mum has also seen fabulous results from body brushing. The bristles won't scratch your skin or cause any irritation unless you decide to spend the whole day brushing your skin. If you do experience any irritation then I'd recommend you stop brushing as skin irritations aren't pleasant and will only do more harm than good. As I mentioned before, this brush only me £5.60 from Boots, but when you think of all the money you spend on exfoliants, gloves, digestion aids, anti wrinkle creams and cellulite treatments, then £5.60 is a steal! *I'm part of the beauty community on youtube and do have a video talking about body brushing, if you'd like the link then feel free to message me.
