“ Brand: Babyliss / Type: Trimmer „
Men hate shaving. It's a fact, a thing we can't deny and I for one hate the daily chore so I decided not to shave anymore, also I'm blond and blond men and beards do look a bit Viking marauder rather than cool urban sophisticat which men with dark hair pull off so easily. I hate having a beard. For some men beards are great, they look cool and very much of the moment. I however look like a tramp, have beard hair which is a different colour to my head hair and it generally shows the grey quicker. So I don't want a beard and the days of the moustache are well back in the 80's. So I hate shaving, I hate having a beard but of the two I hate having a shave much more so there are only three possible options, one get laser treatment in my face - this seems a bit over the top and well a bit weird all round, two get the barber to do it with his cut-throat razor - don't think so or three buy a beard trimmer. Option 3 was voted for by the public. So now that's decided we have to use the beard trimmer, first thing first a trimmer needs to be reasonably cheap but at £40 for the above kit that's not reasonably cheap. However, it was a gift and when you consider the savings on buying the the consumables you have to buy for wet shaving i.e., razors, cream, aftershave, skin cream etc. The other consideration is the cut, I used to have a beard trimmer ten years ago and well it was like having your beard hair plucked out by masochists who don't like the look of your face. So a friend recommended the above trimmer a year ago and I asked for it for Christmas last year. The trimmer comes as a hand holdable trimmer which has been ergonomically designed so it fits into the palm of the hand comfortably and can be used to manouvere around the face without the user needing a degree in reflexology. There are a number of heads from 0.1 mM to 15 mM cutting length but as of this moment I've only used two one cuts at 1 and the other 2 mM. The 0.1 mM is for people who effectively want a dry shave and the 15 mM is for those who want to shave off the ends of a paricularly impressive beard. So far the results have been very good, the trimmer cuts without twisting or scraping the skin and leaves the skin feeling likes it's been rubbed very gently rather than a lawnmower has been across it. There are slight problems with using a longer trim height I've discovered in that the trimmer has a tendency to buck across the skin and give an impercise cut so the stubble has holes and longer pieces depending on the feelings of the trimmer as it crossed your chiseled features. There are other elements to the trimmer, there is a blue screen telling the user which trim height he is using and a little indicator of battery length in the now familiar set of five little bars. The trim height can be adjusted up and down with a little press of the button meaning endlessly changing slightly bigger trim ends a thing of the past. Charging takes forever and the battery life does seem a bit limited, so far I've not run out mid-trim but suspect it will happen one day. Overall a very good product with perhaps a couple of technical issues, a bit expensive but gives a high quality cut if used carefully.
Lets start with how rubbish my face is. Its rubbish. No matter what wet shaving products, razors, creams, oils etc i use, my neck is destroyed. I may just as well have sanded it down with a belt sander, then rubbed some salt in it. I became incresingly fed up with this and decided to just go with the stubble look, but needed something to keep it trimmed and looking neat. The Babyliss trimmer is an adjustable dry shaving and beard trimming shaver. It has an adjustable hair length setting to allow you to set how long you want your facial hair to be. This is quick and accurate and allows you to tweak things down to a tiny amount of detail. Its changable in increments of 0.5mm from 0.5mm to 15mm. I have it set to 0.5mm and trim my hair very short every couple of days. It grows to a nice looking length over this time, and then its easy enough to trim right back off again. It comes with a charger - which needs to be used infrequently. The battery in this thing seems to last ages! I use it every other day and only charge it once a month or so - if that. Also included is a litte charging dock. Your mains charger plugs into the back of this and you just place the trimmer on top and it charges while standing up and looking important. I should probably keep mine on here, but that lives in the bedroom looking lonely, while the trimmer seems to have taken up residence in the bathroom. Also suppllied is a small brush for keeping the trimmer hair free. To be honest, the thing is so easy to keep clean. Hair wipes out of it easily and even though i have had mine for over a year, it still looks brand new. Overall, it was an excellent purchase for me. My neck no longer suffers from the razor burn from hell, and for the cost, you cant fault it at all.
The Babylis I-Trim for men is a very affordable dry shaver for men. Having never used a dry shaver before I did not know what to expect, and I thought it would irritate my skin much more than a wet shave. However, the I-Trim has the accuracy to shave the facial hair between 0.5mm to 15mm, but it does not have a 0 measurement, so it will not be able to remove all the facial hair but leave a short stubble. This means that shaving does not have to irritate the skin every time. One problem with the I-Trim I have realised is that even though it is really precise and has many variations, it only offers me two that are actually useful, the 0.5mm and the 1.0mm lengths. I would prefer it if it offered an even greater variation of 0.25mm between each length. Who needs the 15mm length anyway? Overall though, I do like the product and continue to use it on a more regular basis than a wet shave. The price of paid of £35 was reasonable too I thought, and I would certainly recommend the product to others. This review is also published on ciao
The Babyliss i-trim (as its known) is designed to to give men an every day stubble control. It has 30 ultra precise legnths so you can maintain your look at all times, whatever your look might be. I had never used an electric shaver or trimmer before and only ever wet shaved, but i found this really irritated my skin and caused in growing hairs which obviously isn't what you want!! Also the hair on my face grows unevenly too so i couldn't even let it grow because it looked untidy and scruffy after a week. For me getting the i-trim i was killing two birds with one stone. The i-trim means i can manage the stubble on my face, although it doesn't grow very quick if i needed to i could shave it daily and still not irritate my face like the wet shave do. The i-trim comes with a charger and can be used wireless (or wired if the battery is low), the lengths vary from 0.5mm to 15mm as a rough guide 0.5mm is a close shave, 1.5mm gives a longer stubble look, 2mm+ will give you a short beard. When using the i-trim try to leave th hair to grow for around 4 days (as a result your facial hair will feel thicker) you need to wash then dry your face fully, move the trimmer through the hair, a little at a time, against the direction of hair growth for best results.
For anyone who likes a bit of stubble but gets tired of shaving and trying to keep a beard nice and trim, this will be one of the most useful and reliable pieces of equipment you could buy. I first bought this Babyliss Beard Trimmer while at university, two years ago, and it has never failed me since day one. I used to have a beard (a phase which every man should go through) but i got tired of trimming it with scissors and trying to maintain it with a simple razor. Then i saw the Babyliss Trimmer at a friends house and it seemed like the perfect solution. My friend actually used it to shave his hair, such is the versatility of the trimmer. The blade size has 30 different options, going from 0.5mm up to 15mm which is actually quite long in terms of a beared, which is why it makes it so useful for many other situations. The trimmer itself is a nice slim design which fits easily into your hand, with a grip for your fingers at the back. There are three buttons on the trimmer, on/off, up and down. Simple. Inbetween the buttons is an LCD screen which indicates exactly what size the blade is. The motorised blade actually stops itself if you change the size of the blade while it is turned on, which helps prevent any mishaps and is a good way of knowing exactly how much you are trimming. Being cordless, the trimmer comes with a nice little stand which is connected to a battery charger, which impressively, takes barely a couple of hours to fully charge from flat. It has yet to drain quickly or fail to charge yet. After my beard phase, i entered what is known as the 'designer stubble' phase. This is where the trimmer excells and the small variations in blade sizes can be fully appreciated. Simple to use, just brushing it against your skin as if shaving normally, it can take a matter of minutes to achieve the look you want. No cream, moisturiser, water, towels or any mess needed which makes it all the more convenient. Fully recommended.
Designer stubble has never been easier with this trimming system from Babyliss. It has 30 ultra-precise length settings / from just 0.5-15mm / giving you incredible control for the look you want. With a high-gloss plastic body and silver and brushed metal-effect detail it's a great tool for the style conscious man. Its clever LCD screen displays the cutting length in mm as well as remaining charge / so you know exactly what's happening.
